The same NFF officials? U wan commot food from their table? They will run to FIFA and before you know it we will be facing an impending ban. Blueelf: Joebie, I have been an advocate that all national team salaries including coaches, players and other coaching staff shouldn't come through NFF anymore
There should be a separate budget for it. It shouldn't even come under the sports ministry. Like, RMAFC should allocate a portion of Budget to paying coaches straight from the executive.
My advice has some ripple effects:
1) You would see football administrators no longer fight tooth and nail for positions in the NFF. After all, no coach salary to chop
2) These coaches are seen as civil servants and are liable to face Nigerian law for infarctions against our football. As a coach, of you're caught taking bribe, then EFCC/ICPC can investigate you because technically, you're a civil servant. Also, you should be willing to submit yourself to periodic audit every 3 months. Same law applied to player bonuses
3) A law that makes owing coach salary a criminal offence liable to extended prison time would then be put in place because there's no reason to owe them anymore sin e their salaries are now budgeted for anymore. Same for player match bonuses.
One.more thing, NFF function ought to be pure administrative and not fiscal. Times have shown that they can't be trusted and are dishonest with money.
See my solution can work if duly implemented.
Your takes..

Thank you. It is only we the youths that can save Nigeria. But first we have to start by speaking and accepting the truth. AndSunGorilla: I mean most of us here are either entrepreneurs or paid employees, we don't want to be grappling with unpaid salaries or fees now even people working in NGOs get paid. The payment issue is a perennial problem, there are no two ways about it, it's simply terrible. Alfas and pastors dey collect money now. What makes it even worse is that the players know that some of the officials steal the money!!!! And we want them to turn a blind eye? Upfront we should be open with this is how much we can afford to pay, then whoever isn't comfortable won't show face. But the NFF agrees and now owes this guys, and truth is once you retire or stop getting invites, the unpaid money is gone for ever!!!! |

na for Far East we go find those kind of players oh. Or maybe homebased players when dey fight to japa. There is No good player welfare from selfish administrators and u dey demand selflessness. The matter get as e be codemaniacs: the SE needs selfless players...
you can't put selfless and incorruptible in the same sentence when talking about government employees because its impossible for most of them... |

Add distractions to it. Why do we always have distractions? Our failures are intrinsically linked to our coaching/administrators. Have a good working system first before you start questioning the professionalism of players. Modified A coach who is always owed is expected to perform at optimum level. Rohr don spoil una codemaniacs: Football is not government politics...
Football is about talent, discipline and stamina...
Morocco have a talented goalkeeper and that GK has been their hero in this tournament... the administrators have to look for a talented goalkeeper and punish indiscipline players like Emmanuel Dennis and encourage discipline.. |

Our Footballers are also professionals in diaspora. How many of us abroad will come home to render our services to a nation that does not appreciate us? Dealing with officials who don’t care about our welfare but their pockets? These players are human beings. They left the bad system to play abroad, they cannot come home to be dealing with the ugly system and be happy. |
Sports › Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 7:10pm On Dec 10, 2022 |
We have to hold our administrators responsible. We keep giving these leaders easy passes. This is the same problem we are having in government. Enough is enough codemaniacs: Nigeria cannot do it until the players play solely for personal achievement...
Everytime Nigeria qualifies for the World Cup and reach at least the Round of 16 or even win 1 match then they start complaining of match bonus and they have not been paid then they go on to lose their next match...
NFF will continue to owe and withhold the players match bonuses so unless a private firm gives them bonuses then if they qualify for the next world cup in 2026 they will also complain that they have not been paid then they will crash out..
If Emmanuel Dennis gets invited again after his shameful then the SE will never ever reach the quarter finals of the world cup.. |

I have always been an advocate of performance only consideration in selection and continuous selection. And I will celebrate any player doing it. But most of us here are only fixated on the big leagues. My bro as per JP matter we can’t keep on adopting a hope and pray approach. We have waited too long doing the same things. If the NFF are really serious about good results they should show it in their search for a coach and stop toying with coaches salaries. The coach needs a clear head to work. Stop messing with the emotions of many Nigerians. This is an institutional problem, and just because we’ve had partial successes in the past, we believe its okay. Nigeria will never get to its true potential if we keep doing things like this. This is where I agree with komekn TheSuperNerd: Joe. Joe. Joe. You know that you and I share the same sentiments on our midfield deficiencies which began with Rohr and has continued into Peseiro's reign. I recall you even took it upon yourself to use sofascore analytical attributes grading to find who our best tactically balanced midfield combos can be because the midfield matter is nauseating.
We beat Sao Tome 10-0 and set a record, and I celebrated it but for goodness sake it was bloody Sao Tome. Great game to statpad and move on to the real issues.
Jose Peseiro is not what the Super Eagles need. And yes, I wasn't so confident given his track record. I only decided to take a "Let's see" stance after he was began his work just to see if he proves our skepticism right or wrong. I took an open "let's give him the doubt benefit" stance...
...And so far, the man has proven us Skeptics right. He is not the coach the Super Eagles need. We need to be honest with ourselves. He doesn't know what he is selecting. |

And next time if Nigeria does not do it we have to support every Sub Saharan African country. It’s a collective image we have to protect. Ppogbae: You hit it right on the head. Most outsiders will see this as an Arab feat. Black Africa cannot rest on this laurel and must prove themselves on the world stage.
Congrats to Maroc though. |

Are you tired of JP already? I believe you were in my camp for those who were skeptical about JP based on his track record. TheSuperNerd: One has already proven his worth with Tanzania. Proved his worth with a brand of lovely swift vertical playing transition football with the U17s and U20s and which is very similar to Morocco's Walid Regragui yet we still wait for more worth to be proven.
Take it from me... Give Amunike this Job and watch him do with Nigeria what Walid is doing with Morocco under just 8 games in charge.
I have done my homework on all major African sides and their coaching. This Moroccan team stood out. They always stood out and what strikes me the most is that his playing Philosophy is similar to Amunike.
And Amunike is in Zambia as technical consultant turning around the fortunes of Zanaco FC. In 12 games since Amunike came in, they have lost only once. |

We are going to pay dearly for making bad decisions. The problem is we will keep making the same mistakes then hope and pray. That’s not the way to pursue excellence. AndSunGorilla: For the SE, short term fix is getting coaching right. Now it's too early to fire JP, but am yet to be convinced he's the man. If you look at our current U17 and U21, those boys are good, hope they make it to the WC. I don't believe ALL of them and countless others in the a academies would all get into good clubs in Europe no matter how good they are. So my strong belief is that we need huge investments in the local league. Such that it would be unattractive for any Nigerian player to head to Belarus, Azerbaijan, Turkish division 2 etc. Looks like a pipe dream but nothing is impossible. |
