The funny thing is Tom Dele Bashiru, Ejaria are not stand out regulars this season. I can't think of any midfielder in the UK lower leagues that is doing well besides Billing (not available to us). So I am really wondering the direction he will go with this. An unfit Etebo?

Alhassan Yusuf does not have a long way to go. He is doing very well for Royal Antwerp and has 2 man of the match awards. The Belgian league is rated higher than the Scottish league and yet you rate players in rangers such as Calvin basset above him.
I repeat Alhassan Yusuf deserves to be in our midfield. In 2020 he was rated as one of the best ball distributors under the age of 21.

"Alhassan has a long way to prove his quality". So please tell me which "quality" midfield backups do we have available?

People usually get impressed when players impresses at Lower league and will ask for them to replace they ones at a superior league. On current form, amoo isn’t better than Ejuke. If you do not have great options look to weaker leagues for the top performers just as we are doing with Sadiq.

A half fit Etebo can't be better than Obinna and Yusuf who are performing regularly. Our forwards are not gonna slot in to midfield roles

Yusuf is primarily a CM, but can play DM etc (Versatile, Kante-like) Nwobodo is a DM. Who else in this squad do we have to replace Ndidi. Who to replace Onyeka for example? Since you are saying Amoo and Etebo are the best back-ups at the moment.

TBH, either of the two should have been invited ahead of Onazi but saying they will replace Etebo and Amoo does not in anyway correlate.

I think the problem with Eguavoen is he focuses too much on our strength as a team and doesn't seem to also plan to neutralize the oppositions strengths.

We should have gambled on proven midfielders in their respective leagues to back up the ones we already trust.

We will have to rely on on Osimhen to fall back and do gra gra with them, when he should be fully focused on scoring. Abeg make we no killl Osimhen before he turns 30 lol

Our starting midfield trio of Ndidi + Onyeka + Aribo is good enough, but if any of them gets injured we are royally bleeped. Maybe Nacho can deputize Aribo at AM or we can switch to a 4-4-2 which we saw at AFCON, but the reality is we didn’t invite midfielders, even backups.

Rorh would have done the same, except that we would see Akpoguma in the list, but not Onazi.
Amoo won't be there. No much difference. Last last na how we play go determine am.

I wouldn't play someone just coming for a long injury lay off. I would rather integrate Amoo into this team gradually, not in bitter rivalry matches of this magnitude.

We are coming against a team whose strengths lie in the midfield. We need capable back ups for the midfield BATTLE. it would be WAR in the midfield.

Ighalo is still performing. You can't make argument for Musa being a captain when you have Nwakaeme clearly better in the same league, although I don't fancy the latter.

First of all, let me say that I am not actually surprised to see this list. Rohr is gone, so we’re going to to applying the ‘Nigerian factor’ in sending out player invite.

Can anyone tell me how did onazi make the standby list? I am a big fan of Etebo but how did he make the list when he hasn’t played in more than 6 months? Why do we keep wasting slots on the likes of Musa and Ighalo when we have young and hungry strikers like Awoniyi, Onuachu, Ejuke, Onyekuru, etc.

And by the way, are we punishing Alex Iwobi for picking up a red card? And at the same time, it seems we’re rewarding Emmanuel Dennis for snubbing the team when we needed him most!
