Can we host the best AFCON experience Africa has ever witnessed. Having great stadiums is still our challenge. But I’m not talking about stadiums alone. forgiveness: Some of the stadiums Cameroun proposed/intended to use for the Afcon is artificial but they are replacing it with natural grass.
It is not difficult if we truly want to host Afcon. |

OGN had earlier reported that Rohr will run the rule over two Nigerians in Europa League qualification
Here is the latest from ANS:
Rohr Hints At Call-Up For 20-Goal Striker Adeleke Akinyemi After Scouting Teenager
Published: August 03, 2018
Gernot Rohr has hinted that he could call-up top prospect Adeleke Akinyemi to the national team in future after scouting the Ventspils striker in Thursday evening's Europa League qualifier against Bordeaux.
Akinyemi's sparking display in the Europa League has awakened the interest of several Nigerians in the second-tier competition and he didn't disappoint against the French Ligue 1 opponents, having netted his seventh goal in the competition in the 65th minute.
The 19-year-old has found the net 12 times in his last seven games in all competitions for Ventspils, scoring in each of those matches apart from the 1-0 loss to Bordeaux last Thursday.
''Rohr was at the Stade Matmut-Atlantique, he was introduced to the supporters before the game and took the ceremonial kickoff, '' a top source told allnigeriasoccer.com.
''He had a chat with the three Nigerian players Alfa, Akinyemi and Tosin before the start of the game. He was happy with their performance, especially Akinyemi.''
Within the next three weeks, Rohr is expected to announce his squad list for a 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Seychelles.

Was Joel also in that academy? If so, then we have to get to the bottom of it. This is a big allegation for someone like Laloko to make Why is this report not also on other media outlets? Let me check. Modified That story is only on two lesser websites. Looks like fake news to me. Or did anyone listen to Laloko say it in Brilla? Is the story even on Brilla fm website or on ther Twitter page? daveP: I've always been skeptical about why Mikel carries that face always on national duty. And for years.

Why do we often lower the bar when it comes to the most important things? If it were personal possesions we would want the best wrist watches cars etc as long as we could afford them. If we sincerely think Nigeria is the Giant of Africa, we should have very high standards and hold our leaders to it. If we can’t present the best AFCON experience ever in 2019, we should simply forget it. Oasis007: This Stadium ain't Obafemi Awolowo Stadium, rather Adameisigba Stadium, the Home of 3SC. The Turf is artificial, not natural as some Folks are saying.
We ain't ready to host any International Competition especially AFCON 2019, except TBS turf is replaced with natural Grass and the Onikan Stadium is completed as scheduled.
Abuja Stadium only requires little touches. Uyo Stadium is ready same as Adokiye Stadium. Also I read it somewhere that Udom is building another massive, world standard Stadium in Akwa Ibom, Eket Town precisely - if it's true and can be completed by December - then we are good to go!
However, if the Eket Stadium ain't gonna be ready before December, then Sanni Abacha Stadium should come to the Rescue - turf only needs to be replaced. The standard is OK!
Akwa Ibom - 2 Stadia Portharcourt- 1 Stadium Lagos - 2 Stadia Abuja - 1 Stadium. |

Manu should call the boys and beg them. Those that know they don’t fall within the age bracket should honestly say so and leave. The rest should still be subjected to MRI before heading to the hotel. It makes the process less cumbersome. jimmyiovine: U17 AFCON Qualifiers : We Are Suffering, Golden Eaglets Coach Manu Garba Cries Out Published: August 02, 2018 U17 AFCON Qualifiers : We Are Suffering, Golden Eaglets Coach Manu Garba Cries Out Less than one month to the West Africa Zone B U17 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers in Niger Republic, Golden Eaglets coach Manu Garba is worried over a lot of things.
The compulsory MRI tests have not yet been conducted, the players live in deplorable conditions and are ill due to a malaria attack.
''We have been clamoring for it for long. The NFF has given approval for the MRI test but unfortunately we are still waiting for money to be released so that the MRI can hold,'' Manu Garba said.
''No matter how good or how young a player is, once he doesn't pass the MRI he cannot take part in the competition.
''When the MRI is conducted we will know who is eligible to participate in the competition so we are worried.
''The NFF should try and make it to be conducted during the week so that we can know those who are eligible for us.''
Manu Garba has also carpeted the Nigerian Federation over the nonpayment of bonuses and allowances to the technical crew.
''MRI is the major problem but the players themselves are not staying in a good condition. Most of the players have been down with malaria.
''With the number of players we have, we cannot take all of them to the hotel, that's why I said MRI is our greatest problem.
''After the MRI, we reduce it to a sizeable number like 30 or 35 that can go to the hotel for maximum concentration.
''Secondly, since we entered the camp, there have been no allowances to the coaches, so we need the NFF to look into that aspect so that it can motivate us to do more,'' he concluded.
In their latest friendlies, the Golden Eaglets, who didn't qualify for the 2017 Fifa U17 World Cup, beat Siaone Academy and Derby FC 3-0 and 4-0 respectively.

Giant of Africa my Yansh.. krattoss: we can do it perfectly with the right people and plan. Akwa ibom stadium is already ready.
Abuja national stadium is also okay(just small regressing)
Adokiye is ready with little last touch.
Ahmadu Bello stadium has 30+ capacity. Just needs little touch and roofing(optional in the game of football).
We also have the national stadium Lagos which can be renovated at a light speed with the right people (by the way Tottenham new stadium was built in less than a year.)
We also have the new Stephen keshi stadium which can also be expanded..
Why I think it might not work for us is because 2019 is also an election year which might hinder many circumstances on it.. Baring that, we re the giant of Africa and I believe we can host it fluently. |

OGN and "where he has.. where he has" repetition. Poor writer. charlesemeka85: Super Eagles World Cup 2018 squad member Joel Obi is edging closer to a move to Spanish LaLiga side Celta Vigo as talks have progressed nicely the past few days, Owngoalnigeria.com understands.
Obi is deemed surplus to requirements at Torino by new coach Walter Mazzari despite playing 22 league games last season and also finding the back of the net five times from his deep lying midfield role.
Fellow Serie A side Parma stepped up their pursuit of the 27 year old but Celta who have long signify their intention to add the Nigerian to their squad held productive meeting with Torino over his transfer.
Celta Vigo intensified their push to sign the former Inter-Milan midfielder as they are warming up for the potential exit of their Slovakian midfielder Stanislav Lobotka, who is close to agreeing a move to Napoli.
On his part, Joel Obi is keen on a new adventure in a different environment after spending the entirety of his career so far in Italy, where he has turned out for Inter-Milan, Parma, and Torino, where he has been the past three seasons. |

Nice one! I guess Joel Obi and John Ogu as well after the AFCON. Odion Ighalo could still be in Rohr’s good books after all. You know how Rohr be. Icon4s: The end of every world cup usually marks the end of a particular era of players.
After the 1994 World Cup we saw the last of some players: Steven Keshi Thompson Oliha Chidi Nwannu Sampson Siasia
After the 1998 World Cup we saw the end of some players like: Uche Okechukwu Ben Iroha Austine Eguavoen Rashidi Yekini Peter Rufai
After the 2002 World Cup we saw the last of: Mutiu Adepoju Benedict Akuegbu Ike Shorunmu Likes of Oliseh, Finidi and Tijani were kicked out of the team ahead of the world cup
After the 2010 World Cup we saw the last of: Yakubu Aiyegbeni Danny Shitu Sani Kaita Chidi Odiah Kalu Uche Nwankwo Kanu
After the 2014 World cup we saw the last of: Joseph Yobo Shola Ameobi Osaze Odemwingie Emmanuel Emenike Ejike Uzoenyi Austin Ejide Michael Babatunde, Michael Uchebo, Uche Nwofor and co.
Now the 2018 World Cup has come and gone. Are there players that we may have seen the last of? My predictions: Brown Ideye Odion Ighalo Elderson Echiejile And the following may still be in the squad for the next AFCON but not likely to make the next World Cup: Mikel Obi Daniel Akpeyi Ikechukwu Ezenwa Leon Balogun
Strictly my opinion. You can share yours on the post 2018 World Cup. |

Finidi cannot solve that problem as an U17 coach. Few players will be impacted but that does not guarantee anything. Because what we see at the U17 level is just a promise. Our true potentials as a football nation can be seen at the U20 level. I would rather use Finidi in a larger capacity, of course with the right enabling environment (structures put in place) tbaba1234: You need to provide the structures and training down to the grassroots. |

Read and comprehend my points fully then respond tbaba1234: Winning the under 17 is a good bonus but we also want them to be great professionals. We have won under 17 several times, how many truly world class players have we produced? How many times has Italy or Germany won the under 17 tournament?
We need proper structures to train grassroots coaches to be able to impact proper knowledge. Too many times, our players get used to bad habits that they have to unlearn. First of all, our league teams need professional youth team structures with qualified coaching. |
