forgiveness:
Stephen Keshi was pressured and forced to invite Aluko to the national team team after his sublime performance for Rangers week in week out, and when he eventually brought em, he didn't deem it fit to dress him for the match day game, instead, he played Uzoenyi and kept Oduamadi on the bench. grin

In short, he never wanted Aluko in the team when you see Keshi's antics at play. grin

Which of these two was ever in limelight, not to talk of remain in limelight? shocked grin

Den I was just monitoring his kurukere moves with one corner of my eyes. grin

Never said there is no corruption. try to get my point. Let's not make it seem like every coach is involved. Many of these players are not even in the limelight. For example Aluko, you really have to personally keep tabs with him to know how he is faring in the Championship. Our coaches can always give good reasons for omitting certain players for others. It's hard to say it's always corruption. But in Keshi's time, it seemed glaring.
komekn:
I can assure you 100% that Sone Aluko exclusion had nothing WHATSOEVER to do with ability but everything to do with SETTLEMENT and a complete lack of understanding of egunje politics and or a refusal to play the game the Nigerian way.

Do your homework, consider Gabriel Rueben, signed a 3 year contract with lowly Kilmarnock played maybe 30 minutes was so bad he never played all season and was released shockingly he went to the World cup for us meanwhile Aluko was a regular for Hull in the EPL. Check who Reuben's is agent was at the time and the arrangements concerning match bonuses, and you may be opening a very smelly can of worms, I am mindful of defamation his agent was Tony Harris.

Consider players who were omitted and mediocre players like Uchebo and others were selected and you know big wahala deh many questions arise that are indicative of sharp practices.

According to Rohr, FIFA are demanding a letter from the Federal Government of Nigeria (FGN) to prove Ola Aina is truly a Nigerian, which the coach considers as strange, as the player already has a Nigerian international passport.

The coach revealed during the media parley that he is hopeful the letter from the FGN will come through today or tomorrow

safarigirl:
I fear to think of the outcome of a one-on-one between Ezenwa and any of the Cameroonian forwards...

He just doesn't strike me as one brimming with confidence, this is not about his height. He is not imposing between the sticks, seems quit a shaky personality, and while he may have performed great against Beninoise players from their local league, we must remember that Bassagog and Aboubakar are not Beninoise local league players.

There is something about that presence a goalie needs....I'm not seeing it with Ezenwa, I'm sorry undecided

Can't we just field Leon as the goalie? sad

Start Akpeyi-he is jittery
Ezenwa-he is short, lacks confidence and not imposing.
Play Alampasu-he is rookie.
Recall Enyeama- he is old and passed it.

Abeg who then should we put between the sticks. May be we should go and rent De Gea or Courtois.

All we can do is to support anyone the coaching crew decides to field.
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 7:42pm On Aug 30, 2017
my point is we shouldn't make it seem like Alampasu is such a rookie. There are keepers his age keeping for their national teams or clubs in Europe. His experience in Europe is an advantage.. if he is the best in camp, he should be used.. that talk of he can't stand the pressure, I wonder if Ezenwa will. Akpeyi sef too no dey shake?

Icon79:
Ezenwa would perform well. He certainly can't do any worse than Akpeyi.

With the new goalkeeper trainer in town, I knew there's no way that Akpeyi was gonna start this game anyway. His shortcomings are just too glaring. Alloy Agu was useless!

How about Babatunde making that list? Wasn't that a mystery? Let's not forget Bright Dike and a few others never deserved an invitation. No disrespect to our late coach, that was the era I felt agents where doing big business with Super Eagles handlers.

Modified
Keshi invited players who were trying to boost their careers. His philosophy was giving them a chance in SE colors, they would do everything to up their value. Which is why the likes of Aaron Samuel got invited in the first place. These players were motivated to perform because they were relatively unknown.

Humility017:
how uchebo made keshi world cup list remains a mystery...
and for babatunde he was gradually shooting himself back to the SE...during his stinct in Morocco wit Raja Casablanca but unfortunately he could not resist Arab money.....hence moving to the middle east.
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 3:05pm On Aug 30, 2017
Daniel Amokachi could have been quoted out of context. Let's not forget he was an assistant to the late Stephen Keshi, who I personally suspected of underhand deals. Did Aluko pay to get his first call up? Has Aluko remained in the limelight all this while? we can only have 23 men or so in SE at every point in time. It's hard to set ONE standard as regards who should be in the team. Coaches have different standards. I remember Oliseh's policy of no out field players who do not play in the first tier. Let's not try to make it seem like it's solely an NFF issue. The coaches we've had over the years have fought to act without interferences from the NFF. Corruption is part of our system. But the problem we have here is that we do not have many players playing in big clubs in Europe -- indisputable stars -- so there are many grey areas when our coaches make decisions. Anyone can in fact feel hard done by.. need I mention free agent Nosa Igiebor?

What we have here is a country where everyone feels marginalized and can give you examples to buttress their claim.

komekn:
Ask Daniel Amokachi and his NFF arrangee men why Sone Aluko has been excluded from the SE.

BELGIUM (ROUND 5)

Club Brugge 4-0 St. Liege
Standard Liege suffered another heavy defeat with an identical scoreline with the previous round, this time in the hands of current table toppers, Club Brugge. It was not a good look for Super Eagles midfielder Uche Agbo, who lasted the entire encounter again for Standard Liege, but could not help the Belgian modest side earn a respectable scoreline. Another Nigerian, 19 year old forward Emmanuel Dennis Bonaventure has been out of Brugge’s squad for over two weeks now due to a ligament injury. Bonaventure’s date of return is still unknown.

Charleroi 3-2 Waregem
Peter Olayinka continued from where he stopped in the previous week, scoring again, away to Charleroi, to put Waregem ahead before the break. His nod came on the 44th minute after racing to arrive right in time to connect De Pauw’s cross past onrushing Charleroi goalie, Nicolas Penneteau. However, despite a Charleroi own-goal that put them back ahead, Waregem could not sustain the lead as they eventually lost after their opponents scored twice in the last 5 minutes of the match. The visitors did not have Kingsley Madu in their line-up as he is still out due to an ankle injury. Aliko Bala was not listed as well by Waregem. Olayinka now has two goals and six assists so far this season.

Lokeren 3-0 Eupen
Relatively unknown Nigerian midfielder, Jamabo George continued his season with another dugout appearance for Eupen, as they fumbled away to Lokeren. The 22 year old Rivers State born player is a product of ASPIRE Academy, Senegal.

YOU MAY HAVE MISSED: #Eagles Radar: Omeruo scores own goal. Emenike assists. Onyekuru, Solomon, Anichebe score. Ejaria shines on debut (Weekly Review Nov. '16 Week 1)

Oostende 3-4 Royal Antwerp
It was a 7 goal thriller at Versluys Arena (Oostende), with Joseph Akpala making an 83rd minute entry for the visitors while they were down 1-3. Two late goals for Oostende did not prevent them from losing as the visitors ensured to add one more in the 88th. Akpala has only managed a start so far this season. He has been used as a substitute since their season opener against Mouscron.

Gent 0-0 Anderlecht
It ended stalemate when Super Eagles’s Moses Simon and Anderson Esiti entertained Henry Onyekuru‘s Anderlecht. All the Nigerians on parade gave a good account of themselves staying out of the referee’s books and posting a full shift. Anderlecht manager, Rene Weiler deployed Onyekuru alongside Polish forward, Lukasz Teodorczyk in a two prong attack of a 4-4-2 formation, but their most important forward from last season was pulled off in the dot of the 90th minute, whereas, Onyekuru was left on the pitch. KAA Gent did not list their third Nigerian player, Samuel Kalu for undisclosed reasons. Kalu, who has scored one goal this season, had featured throughout in every of Gent’s last 4 rounds of Jupiler league matches.

Kortrijk 1-1 Mouscron
Abduljaleel Ajagun made his fifth consecutive full shift appearance for Kortrijk, highlighting his importance in the team since his move from Roda JC. Ajagun locked horns with compatriot, Taiwo Awoniyi (Mouscron), who pulled off another brilliant performance by helping Mouscron draw level with an assist. Awoniyi bundled his way, forcing the ball across to teammate, Selim Amallah, despite strong resistance from Kortrijk’s back-line. Awoniyi charged forward in expectation of a goal mouth-scramble, but Selim’s following attempt was good enough to earn the visitors a draw — thanks to a 74th minute penalty miss by Kortrijk.

Published: August 29, 2017
Done Deal: Reading Smash Transfer Record To Sign Super Eagles StrikerEFL Championship outfit Reading have completed the signing of Nigeria international Sone Aluko after a successful medical.

The winger and striker ended his one-year association with Fulham after putting pen to paper on a four-year deal with the Royals, which will keep him at the Madejski Stadium until the end of the 2020-21 season.

The 28-year-old Aluko previously wore the colours of Birmingham City, Aberdeen, Blackpool, Rangers and Hull City.

He will suit up with the number fourteen jersey if he makes his debut for Reading against Bristol City on September 9.

Reading smashed the club's transfer record to sign Aluko, with a fee of 7.5 million pounds being mooted.

Half-Pitch Training : How Super Eagles Lined Up, Ola Aina, Mikel & Nwakaeme ImpressSuper Eagles manager Gernot Rohr did not give out too many clues regarding his possible starting eleven for the World Cup qualifiers against Cameroon during the Super Eagles first training session on Tuesday evening.

Twenty-two outfield players were divided into two groups and engaged in a half-pitch practice game which lasted for about 25 minutes, while the goalkeepers were being put through their paces by Enrico Pionetti.

In the team wearing blue bibs were : Leon Balogun, Chidozie Awaziem, Troost-Ekong, Uwa Echiejile, Wilfred Ndidi, Mikel Agu, Tony Nwakaeme, Ahmed Musa, Moses Simon and Iheanacho.

Uche Agbo, Tyronne Ebuehi, John Ogu, Eddy Onazi, Abdullahi Shehu, Ola Aina, Ifeanyi Ifeanyi, Victor Moses, Mikel Obi, Oghenekaro Etebo and Odion Ighalo were part of the non-bib wearing team.

The highlights of the session were Obi Mikel dribbling past two players at once, Tony Nwakaeme involved in combination play and Chelsea loanee Ola Aina showing some good skills.
