HealthHELP: Save This Boy With Spinal-cord Injury by JohnNgene(op): 4:44am On Jul 07, 2019
Those who know me know that I'd rather die than beg. I could be dying and you'd never know. But I'm begging you all today for help. I'm begging for help on behalf of this poor child and his family. This boy must live to fulfil his dreams and destiny. This boy must live to testify of God's goodness.

Yesterday, 6th July 2019, I went to Ukehe (a town near Nsukka in Enugu state) to see a boy who suffered a spinal-cord injury last year October 2018. He has been bedridden and has even spent five long months in the hospital before his family brought him home. They were overwhelmed by the rising hospital bills. They are even more overwhelmed now that the breadwinner (the first son) of their family is dead.

I visited this boy, I prayed for this boy and I dropped a small amount for him. I'm only doing my own part. Please do your own part to save this poor boy's life. The bank account details in the picture belongs to his elder brother Brendan whom I personally spoke with. May God bless you abundantly as you send in your donations.

Yours sincerely,
John

BusinessRe: The Number One Cause Of Business Failure And How To Avoid It by JohnNgene:
I think the number one cause of business failure IN NIGERIA is lack of credit facilities.

So many businesses fail even before they start because there's no money to bring the business idea to reality. Raising capital on your own to start a business is hard. Getting a loan from Nigerian banks is even harder. Then, paying back the loan with the high interest attached to it is the hardest. Lol.

If Nigerian youths could easily access loans of N100,000 (one hundred thousand naira) by submitting the original copies of their certificates for example, I'm sure the Nigerian business environment will flourish.

I would also advice you try Enugu town for the intimacy gadget business. time waits for no man. don't be carried away by emotions of home first. environment matters a whole lot in been a successful business man it opens doors and opportunities. agriculture in Nigeria is not as profitable as they say. it requires huge funds and time to be profitable. you are only as rich as your customers. if your customers are village people I wonder how you plan to be a billionaire. use your tongue to count your teeth. it is either you offer services to the elite there like cow rearing or you move to a more economically viable location before living in the village will affect your mindset.
Lol. Thank you ma.

Typical Nigeria life . Op I feel you and from everything you wrote there the question running through my mind is do people still make it big in business? Apart from tech and show -biz. See the hustles this man has done for how many years oh God Deliver us. Op I bet u u have energy and resolute spirit I must commend you.
Thank you so much.

Do people still make it big in business HERE IN NIGERIA? Honestly, I don't even know. Please let me summon another great businessman @BobUgee I met via this my thread here on Nairaland to help me answer this your question. I just hope he's still active here though.

But if I were to attempt the question to avoid scoring F9, I'd say that I've observed that doing business in Nigeria is a real battle against principalities and powers. Lol.

I dare say that anybody that succeeds in business in this country will excel in every other part of the world. I guess that's why Igbo businessmen excel all over the world because they've been thoroughly baked inside Nigeria's business oven. Then cooked, then fried and then roasted. Chai! Odiro easy chaa chaa.

Worse of all is when people laugh and ask you, "Na this thing you go dey do marry wife, buy motor, come build house?" And then you see them few months or a year later actually marrying, buying cars and building houses from the proceeds of yahooyahoo, 419 or through other illegal means. (sighs)

Na God go help us true true. Because if I go make money anyhow-anyhow or by any-which-way, I fit gain everything but I go lose my soul. And how much is my soul worth? 1million? 10million? 1billion? In naira, dollars or pounds?

You have no idea the kind of rich and influential people that are here on Nairaland. The poor and middle-class are here too of course.

Instagram is full of fake people. I don't know much about Twitter. Finally, maybe you should hit the studio and release this your rant as a song sha. Who knows? You might generate controversy and blow. Lol.

RomanceRe: Very Important Advice To Young Men At Early Age In Life by JohnNgene: 12:19pm On May 09, 2019
I think this is a poor advice. A poor advice is worse than a bad advice. Lol.

I turned 30 last year and I'm still single. You know why? Because I'm determined to have at least N2million in my account before I marry. Well, if not N2million, then I must be making at least N100,000 (one hundred thousand naira) every month.

I'm thinking of my future children and the kind of standard of life I want them to have. Or are there not too many poverty-stricken children in the world already?

I think the best advice to give young men is to start early to make money and plan their lives. That way, if a young man is comfortable and financially independent at 25, nobody'll have to pressure him to marry before 30.
RomanceRe: Judge me, was i wrong ? by JohnNgene: 11:53am On May 09, 2019
It depends on your friendship and your reputation.

What I mean is, this your friend knows the kind of person you are (i.e. your reputation) before making that request. Maybe he has allowed you use his own house for such in the past. Or maybe he thought you wouldn't object to him cheating on his main girl. (Now, he knows better and your friendship with him will get deeper).

And if I may ask, why are you calling him? Do you feel him guilty for saying NO to him? If you know you did the right thing, leave him alone. He'll eventually get over his anger and come back to you. Plus, he won't make such a request ever again. No worry yourself abeg. Lol.

The ones I know here in Enugu are GOKO Cleanser and CHUKATRIN Herbal Cleanser.

I've tried both of them and they're good for improving the body's immune system.

However, people should be careful about the dosage they take o! If you take overdose, you'll visit the toilet until sh*t go finish for your y*nsh. Lol.

Nice follow through Ganfuwa. Nice jam... Just listened to it on YouTube. You've really got into alot.

Looking back I've got 2 questions for you

1. Do you regret leaving lag or think perhaps you might have done better in Lagos?

2. Do you think that perhaps mastering one (or a few) arts and growing your knowledge base and profit would have been better..

Again like I said looking back

Finally (I know I said two), in my profession, there's something we call reflections (really helpful in career growth and progression) which the questions above are part of. But in summary, what experiences from these events have helped you grow and would you definitely repeat and what things would you skip or do differently if you were to relive the experience.

Sorry for trying to x-ray your private life
Hmmm...

Don't be sorry sir. I love your introspective questions and I'll answer them.

1) I don't regret leaving Lagos. Don't get me wrong. I love Lagos. I grew up there, schooled there and even consider myself a Lagosian. Till today, some people think I'm Yoruba because of the way I talk, dress and relate with people. Lol. All that notwithstanding, I had no choice but to leave Lagos. I had no one to live with then at the time and it would've been too expensive for me to start my business as well as secure accommodation there with the money I had back then. And truly, I know my business would've faired much better in Lagos (that's if I didn't have accommodation issues to worry about o! Lol)

2) I would've done far better if I had the financial knowledge I've gained by reading the financial self-help books I began reading from around mid-2017 till now. Those books have really opened my financial eyes.

3) If I had that N300,000 right now in 2019 for instance, I'll split the money into two first, save N150,000 in a fixed deposit account for at least six months while I use the remaining N150,000 to start and run one business. Instead of the way I naively tried to run two businesses simultaneously in 2016. Lol.
However, I would definitely repeat leaving Lagos and relocating to Igboland part. That singular move presented new challenges to my mind and spirit.
I was surprised when one young man (who'd just finished secondary school) approached me at my shop to mentor him in November 2017. I started giving him my financial books (of course at a little cost just as my own financial mentor had done to me. Lol) and he's running his own business here in Agbani now.
If I didn't come here, would I have met that my mentor, this my mentee and all of you good people here on Nairaland? Well, so Chukwu ma. Only God knows.

Mr john sorry GANFUWA. smiley

I came across your fascinating story and thoroughly enjoyed every bit of this. Nwanne I Say well done
However, Are you still into Trading(Online) and farming?? What has been your experience since you began selling online? I downloaded the Amuri hit track, I think you gave good account of yourself. Do you combine your business with your music seamlessly..I don't know if the music is paying for now, it seems to me you could end up in the entertainment industry (music, performance, acting, modelling, promotions etc) as an entertainer in The Arts at least starting from your locality, state, region, country and diaspora community. Never forget your humble beginnings, learn and forge ahead from past mistakes..it is well Nwanne
I'm used to being called Ganfuwa now o! It has overtaken my real name and even my other nickname (John Rock). Even my mom told me they were calling her Mama Ganfuwa when she came home for Christmas last year. Lol.

I bet you didn't understand my dialect rap in that song abi? You should Google, download and listen to "CHIEFOWO -GANFUWA". That's the latest one I released just last month April. (I did Chiefowo with a bit of my Nkanu dialect and general Igbo so that ndi-Igbo everywhere can understand and enjoy it). Unfortunately, the music business is a very capital-intensive one especially the song promotion and music-video shooting aspect of it. So it's not paying yet, to be honest.

Farming is the most cheated of all my passions o! I haven't farmed in a long while. Chai! I was thinking of starting up a small plantain plantation in my village. Mana okwa ego ji olu o! Lol. I'm still trying to raise adequate funds for it. Although the N10,000 (ten thousand naira) TraderMoni I got from the federal government was a little bit helpful.

As for online business, the advantage is that I'm not paying any shop rent, levies, taxes etc. But the down side is that business is much slower. I'm actually strategizing on the next move to make.

Nice... Just stumbled upon it again as part of my 'followed threads'. I can't believe it's been years. Still remember when it was created and when it got to fp.

@JohnNgene any update on things so far and how you look back at the whole incidents
Good morning o! There are so many updates that I don't even know where to start from sef. Lol.

Let me first of all apologize to all of you for my long absence. It wasn't intentional. Make una no vex abeg.

Well, let me do a summary of events.

November 2017:
I started working as a personal fitness-trainer. I went to their house to train them in the mornings from 6:30am to 8am three times weekly. After which I'd return home, freshen up and open my shop for business.

December 2017:
I left that my former shop at the end of the year.

January 2018:
I moved to my cousin's boutique. I noticed he was looking for a salesgirl. So I suggested we partner in the sense that I sell his things and sell mine too in his shop.

February 2018:
I paid my friend another part of his money from the money I was supposed to use to pay my shop-rent plus other savings I'd made.

May 2018:
I became a gym-instructor at a hotel here in Agbani.

July 2018:
I decided to run for political office as an Enugu State House of Assembly member representing Nkanu-West constituency.

September 2018:
I abandoned my political ambition due to lack of finance and harsh political realities.

October 2018:
I released a hiphop song titled Ganfuwa Amurri. And to my greatest surprise the song went viral all over my village. Google my new name GANFUWA if you doubt me. Lol.

November 2018:
I celebrated my 13th birthday. (Okay, you people want me to admit that I'm now 30 abi? No, I'm 13 jor. Lol.)

December 2018:
And the best news of all: I'M NOW DEBT-FREE!!!
I also performed my chart-topping hit twice this month. My Facebook friends' list swelled from about 700 friends to more than 3,000 friends. Seriously, I've become a local celeb in my villa o! Lol. If you come to Amurri now and ask of GANFUWA, they'll point to me.

January 2019:
My cousin sub-rented that his shop to someone else. What that means is that I presently run my business shoplessly via whatsapp.

Music/Radio"DIALECT RAP is the future of rap." -Ganfuwa by JohnNgene(op):
Many Nigerians mistake dialect to mean Igbo, Yoruba, Hausa or other languages. No! Dialect actually means a variety of a particular language that shows where a person comes from. For example, the Igbo language has the Nkanu dialect, Nsukka dialect, Ngwa dialect, Owerri dialect, Abakiliki dialect amongst other dialects. They may sound different but they'll all Igbo language. I believe the same applies with the Yoruba language and some other languages which have many dialects too.

So, "Why all this clarification?" you may ask. Lol. Well, I just wanted to show that DIALECT is different from INDIGENOUS. As for indigenous rap, I believe that every rap is indigenous. What I mean is, English rap is indigenous to the English and American people. French rap is indigenous to the French people. While Igbo rap is indigenous to ndi-Igbo. Am I making sense?

I think the only reason we regard English rap as just "rap" and Igbo rap as "indigenous rap" is because the Igbo language is not as widely used all over the world as the English language. If the Igbo language was universal, we wouldn't dare belittle Igbo rap by calling it "indigenous rap".

Nevertheless, I'm happy the so called indigenous rap has grown with a vengeance to overshadow English rap in Africa in general and Nigeria in particular. The bitter truth is that English rap is dead in Nigeria as of now. That's why the likes of M.I, Vector, Phenom, Naeto C etc have faded away. English rap was yesterday. Indigenous rap is the present. And DIALECT RAP is the future. Yes, you heard it first from Ganfuwa.

Meanwhile, I'm looking for Igbo dialect rappers I can work with. I want us to collaborate and release a hit that'll shake the Nigerian hiphop industry.

This is a hit I released last year that went viral all over my village. I did it with my Nkanu dialect. You can download and listen here: https://my.notjustok.com/track/361562/mmonwu-ganfuwa-amurri

I'm based in Enugu. If you're also based in Enugu (or can easily transport yourself to Enugu for our studio session), please whatsapp me on +2349095000603

CareerRe: Why Nigerian Youths Need To Make The Transition From Graduate To Apprentice by JohnNgene:
Why is everyone misunderstanding this article?

Apprenticeship, in this context, does not mean learning hairdressing, tailoring, welding etc. Apprenticeship here refers to learning on the job. More like internship, industrial training, being a graduate trainee or even VOLUNTEERING.

To me, this article is encouraging graduates to acquire experience through apprenticeship (remember not the Nigerian type of apprenticeship) rather than focusing on a fat salary. The expertise gained through experience will eventually fetch the fat salary or income.

Am I the most intelligent guy on Nairaland or what? Lol.

I won't vote for Buhari. He has failed woefully concerning the Nigerian economy.

As an Igbo man, I honestly don't mind if another Northerner, who can handle the economy and make life better for common Nigerians, rules from 2019 to 2027. We can patiently wait till then rather than endure another four years of Buhari. Lol.

Your intelligent comment on that N300,000 thread led me here.

If I understand your question well here, you're asking, for example, that if Diezani (who is widely assumed to be corrupt) walks into my shop will I agree to do business with her? Or if she employs me to be her fitness-coach will I agree?

My answer is:
Why not? She is simply paying for my goods or service. If she were to gift me the money, that will be another question.
