It stretches beyond scarcity, i sense there's a deliberate attempt to ensure refineries do not work until Dangote's refinery is completed. I stay close to the area the refinery is been constructed and there's massive haste, over 200 trucks of sands are been loaded since 5 months now, over 5 million bucks is spent, if you see the haste in which the refinery project is under-going you would sense something's up. Main while the national refineries that the Petroleum minister promised would be fixed within 2 years of power has been relegated to the abyss. You can imagine !


Less not forget, the cement industry was killed in similar fashion deliberately !

.. Because govt subsidises fuel. So long as govt sets prices, there is a subsidy.
..Because oil has fallen, we don't have enough money to fund subsides...
...Because we are consuming more fuel than we can produce at home, we have to import..which depletes foreign exchange.(Emefielle is really a good manager.)
...Because of the fall in oil revenue...the naira value is falling..meaning less forex to keep the value of the naira up....which means we need more naira to get one dollar
...And, paradoxically, because oil has risen from $28 in 2016 to $64 now..the cost of imported fuel has gone up from N132 in 2016 to N141 today. Meanwhile, NNPC is forcing independent marketers to sell fuel at N145
...INDEPENDENT marketers have in one month seen their profits drop by 10 naira per liter...and they still have to pay staff. Naturally they can no longer afford to sell fuel at N145...meaning they hoard fuel...or increase prices anyway.(This happened during the last admin. Fuel sold for N97 , later N87...meaning marketers then made just N2 profit per liter...no wonder some people were selling fuel at N100-170, even N200.)

There is a solution that has existed since the early 1990's...and that is deregulation. In other words, govt allows marketers set their prices. Because it means that PMS could retail for as high as N200-300, this govt won't touch it with a nine foot stick.BUT..long term, it could allow for investment to flow in, and for a price fall eventually...We deregulated GSM...and we had to put up with N7000 SIM before investment and market forces, and technology kicked SIM prices to N500 today.

I understand your point. Buh you didn't address the issue of waste in governance. All these are as a result of bad leadership. I don't agree that we need oil at $120 to balance our books which is really not feasible.

We have to eliminate waste then focus on restructuring. There has to be productivity at the local government level. That's how China emerged. The governors of each state has to put the local communities to work instead of waiting to share oil money from Abuja.

This is the 21st century. The greatest resource today is human capital.

In summary, there is no sincerity on the part of the government. If PMB had implemented 10% of the things he said during his campaign we would have seen real changes.

Where is the money? Why are we still borrowing billions of dollars to fund the budget?

Well... I think these guys have a point to an extent. If you look at the voting pattern from the last election. The PDP only got good results from just two states. Lagos and Ekiti. Ekiti as a result of Fayose's influence while Lagos largely due to the Oba's unpleasant remarks all Igbos in Lagos voted PDP for every position.

That was what gave rise to the increase of non indigenes in elective positions for the first. And it was really a course for concern for Tinubu himself.

I really don't think the Yoruba leaders that came out for the chairmanship post have done enough to be trusted with the position. And whether or not a Yoruba man becomes the chairman, there is little or no chance of the voting pattern going in the favour of the PDP in the region.

For the PDP caucus I think they have done their calculations.
