I run from being a pastor because its not as easy as people think.

There is no greater service than serving humanity. If we must tell ourselves the truth the leadership of the church are all self serving. None of them deserves that level of affluence in a world full of social injustice.

Below is Uruguay's president Jose Mujica. He donates 90% of his monthly salary of $12,000 to the poor and small businesses. Shouldn't this example come from the church leaders?

Its quite simple,go to a church that is close to to you where you need not to spend transport money .Leave the pastor to his faith.
In those days the levite where well off(rich).infact even when others don't have they had.For most sacrifice they had a share.
So technically,the husband man should be the first partaker of blessings.Jesus was riding on a brand new donkey (latest car tier rubber) and people where putting their cloths on the floor.

One of the disciple on seeing the perfume lavished on him complained that this perfuse was a life fortune and would have been use on the poor(those fighting for 50 naira in the bus) but he rebuked them and made them to understand that they will always have the poor in their midst .

Great submission. Now, the question is what sacrifice has the leadership of the church offered to man kind to deserve that level of affluence?

That is not true. My point is how do they connect with their pastors when their economic reality differs. After church service, private jets and luxury cars are waiting for the leadership of the church.

While the members are picking up arguments with bus conductors over fares that has been in place for like 2 years now. And it's most likely they paid more in tithe and offering than what the conductor is asking for.

This thought has been on my mind. And I'm going to state the reason based on my personal experiences. This is not to condemn any church denomination in particular.

Sometimes I do take a bus from cele to Orile. I think there there is a big branch of the Chosen ministry at Sanya because of the number of their buses parked in that vicinity.

Also, lots of their members also board a Bus from Sanya bus stop and surprisingly, they find it difficult to pay #100 to Orile from Sanya. That fare has been like that for a long time. They always pick up an argument with the conductor on that, insisting on paying #50. Meanwhile, your pastors bringing the message to you is moving in convoy with security details.

Note: Please like I said, this is not to condemn a denomination. I just had to narrate my personal experience.

You don't know what you are talking. How do you take record of who pays tithe? Tithe should go to the needy but then need is different from want. The church to me is trying to satisfy peoples want disguised as need. That money you call billions is when used to meet the peoples need may not even satisfy 10% of what they will present to the church as their needs. So I ask, shld the Church meet peoples need for a short period and stop expansion or should the people be honest and take responsibility?

Mr. It appears you're the one clueless of what you're talking about and for your information most churches do keep records. The expansion you clamour for is to what end? You're obviously among those Christians that believe they can impress God with the Architectural aesthetics of your church building. Is man, made for development or development made for Man? How has today's expansion of the church benefited the human race? Another question who owns the church buildings and other assets like the private jet, motels in their head quarters? You think it's the members? The G O and his board members owns the physical assets of the church. So the expansion of the church in the real sense means more assets to the portfolio of the GO and his boards.

My brother it's time we all condemn these practices in churches. Churches of today are helping to spread poverty. You will be shocked that local assemblies in rural areas that have no viable economy are mandated to contribute for head quarter projects. Shifting resources from areas already experiencing deficit to the head quarters that is overflowing with milk and honey. If you have been a church worker before you will understand these things.

We can't shy away from speaking out. It's not right. The Catholic Church is the richest and largest organisation in the world but, the Pope doesn't fly around in his private jet. There has been records of missionaries from the Catholic Church going to rural areas aside from preaching the word, they help people put up shelter, and together they built a self sustaining economies. That should be the mission. Not going to plant churches so you can start taxing them immediately.

Mr. That is not the reality of the day. Some church branches make more than #50million on a weekly basis while some branches can hardly provide for their pastors not to talk of giving to members. It's unfortunate the leadership of the churches have totally implemented capitalist ideology in the church. As wicked as the world governments are they still sponsor budgets of other nations who don't have enough. Don't you think such should be implemented in the church also?

This is the reason Covenant Uni and the likes don't subsidize education to ridiculous level. People will drain the church with lies. This is why I laugh when I see people asking private church-owned unis to bring down fees for tithe and offering payers. How can a man paying N1,000 tithe be enjoying free benefits of N750,000 ?

The catholics and Anglicans did it with their missionary schools. Is the church supposed to have bank accounts running into billions? When majority of the members are poor. Who is the church? Our men of God prefer to invest in church buildings than the members of the body of christ whom Christ died for.

What the young man is complaining of is that there is no profit being made from the local assembly because that is the number priority. If there is sincerity on the part of the leaders of today's churches. Surpluses from some branches should be used to supplement others but that's unthinkable. If the wicked world governments can practice that, I wonder how hard it can be for our religious leaders who are meant to be selfless.

It's a common practice in every Pentecostal church in Nigeria. Some require that a local assembly remit about 85% of any money generated. Local assemblies are profit centres

In Pentecostal churches, money flows upwards to the GOs and their families not downwards to the members.

That is the problem with the church of today. Every local assembly they set up is a profit centre. It's really worthless devoting to a local assembly cos you're just building another man's business
