@johnstan, all gurus and members of this platform help me please.

Check this thread.
Also, avoid plagiarism. They have a way of screening SOPs and if the screening returns with references to someone else's SOP it's a minus.

Please I need help as regards Niagara college and my transcript.

1. Where am I sending the transcript?
2. Can I apply with a student copy of the transcript and if yes how, please?

Please help.... Because I'm having delay with uniben transcript.

3. Does anyone know how long official or student  uniben transcripts take?

 please....

Abeg answer anyone you fit answer please
Different schools have their requirements. The school would notify you on their application portal if a personal copy is required or if an official copy (in a sealed envelope) is required. Follow their instructions to the last.

I used my WAEC certificate instead because WES sent me the official copy of my transcript late. The requirement was "a personal copy" though but because I did not have one I decided to get a copy from WES and send to the school.
I only paid UNIBEN the right amount for it to be sent to WES for evaluation, WES received it after 32 days and processed it within 48 hours to my address. I received the physical official copy after 65 days from when WES processed it to my address.

Hi everyone!
I’m confused about if I should inform IRCC about my new LOA.

I already have my passport stamped for fall 2022 but my ppr came after the semester has already started so I deferred my admission to Spring 2023 (May) because there was no seat available for Winter intake at the time of my deferral.

My questions are:
1. Do I have to inform IRCC about it. (Note that my application has been processed and a decision has been made)
2. Will Study Permit be issued based on validity of LOI or based on the date on my new LOA at Port of Entry.

@johnstan
@frankrobin
@anon123

@Ketima
From fall 2022 to spring 2023 is over 150 days so you will need to notify IRCC via web form
Your study permit validity will be from the date you arrive in Canada till the end of your program, it is issued at POE.

I was refused this afternoon !
This are the reasons. What do you think I should do please help me !
So sorry for the refusal.

From my understanding, it was refused based on your POF and career progression.
Which documents did you submit in reference to your sponsor's income and assets (funds)?
Did you go for a program to show career progression from your previous study or work and what documents did you submit?

Hello house good evening
Please I need clarity on this ;

When compiling my visa application for the ‘client information’ part
If I want to add some scanned documents but but also want to make some comments under the documents. Do I insert each document into an ms word as a picture and then comment under it (my fear is the document won’t be read able) or I should create a blank Ms document, type in the comment then merge it with the scanned document (won’t the pages be too much and add to the size of the documents huh
Please people that did their application themselves and have submitted I need a response please am stuck thanks in advance.
If I understand you well, you want to be able to reference the documents you attached. If I'm correct then I don't know how you will be able to do that.
Someone here was able to do that tho but you will need to rely on the ability of the VO tech understanding to decipher that.

How I did mine:
I simply arranged my documents in the order in which I wrote my SOP (I combined all into one PDF).
My SOP was first,
My personal identifiers doc
My School docs
Work/office docs
MBS
Family members docs
Sponsors documents
Home ties doc

That's all, I reduced the pdf to the permitted size and uploaded.

Thanks much for your response, she's meant to resume Monday 9th of January, she got PPR December 22 and submitted PPT on the 23rd, she got 3 email so far from VFS but she hasn't gotten the one that says it's ready. She tracked it today and it's still saying it's under process. Centennial college gave her till 14th to submit her study permit and 16th to be in class physically. Her passport has been held in Abuja VFS since December 23rd. What can we do?
If you have sent the ppt for stamping, there's nothing you can do to speed up the process. You can chat VFS live like I did back then but you will get the usual "it is under process feedback".
You just have to wait it out and keep tracking it.
Ensure you update your school with the PPR request letter so they know that it's been approved. Study permit is only issued at POE.

Cheers.

Yea, If you're used to sending webforms/emails to IRCC prior to this, you will immediately know that this is the generic response acknowledging the receipt of your documents so you can be rest assured that they were received.

No, it's not required, I travelled without it.

However, upon arrival and in search for part-time jobs some employers require you to be fully vaccinated before they can offer you the job.

Good morning, A friend got passport request December and submitted the passport 23rd only to discover that the medical hasn't been updated to passed, now she has to miss this January admission and she also has her passport held in Abuja, we have sent webform for the medical to be updated but haven't gotten acknowledgement yet. Has anyone been in this situation before?

@bullstriker

Other gurus here please what do you suggest? We are really beginning to get scared? We even booked her flight hoping we would have gotten it back. Kindly help with advice or suggestions
I see @bullstriker has replied you.

If I'm to share my opinion, I'm suspecting you're checking the medicals section on the portal and expecting it to change to "medicals passed".
If that's the case then you do not need to worry since the PPR has dropped. Simply forward your PPT to vfs for the stamping and IRCC will update their records themselves. It's good to know you have notified them via webform tho.

You might need to explain what you mean by the ppt is being held and her missing the Jan intake.
If you mean the stamping is taking too long then you might need to contact the vfs location you submitted the ppt, mine took 15 days to send and return.

If she defers the admission, ensure she updates IRCC with her new LOA.

Cheers.

Dear Gurus, My Programme starts nextweek, though i have registered my courses for the semester already and indicated that i'd join virtually because of the expected PPR delay. My LOA indicates that i can do 40% of the programme virtually. Can I still run the whole of or substantial part of the first semester virtually now that i have my PPR and travel afterwards without consequences? Hope I wont have issues if i arrive at the airport in Canada after the first semester?
Congratulations once again.

Taking part of your program online used to affect the length of PGWP you can get but not sure if this is still the case. Note that your study permit will only be issued at POE in Canada and not virtually and it is usually valid from when you enter till the end of your studies (if the study permit is less than 2 yrs in length, it might affect your PGWP, again I'm not sure if this is still the case).
To be on the safe side, just arrange and arrive timely when it is convenient for you and don't take all your first semester online.

People do this so that IRCC will not be contacting them to do anything, they will simply review your documents and approve it.
It saves the time you will wait to get informed, the time to go for the test, the time you will wait for the test to be sent and the time it will take IRCC to acknowledge and update it to passed on your portal.

Can you explain at the bolded please?
For the little time I've been here, from account opening to bus rides to asking for directions and even saying hi, the few blacks I've come in contact with gave off cold vibes/reception.
I was lost one time trying to get to the bank, I saw a black middle-aged lady walking towards me, I said hi with the intention to ask for directions but she looked and walked past me as you go do for mile 2/orile (trying to be cautious), I was beyond embarrassed.
In school during orientation, this one guy with his accent was obviously Nigerian, I approached him to get directions on the floor to go register for my SIN and his response was as though I was about to stress him out meanwhile he responded to the Indians and other students well.
The exact opposite has been my experience with the white locals here.
The Airbnb host here personally drove me to the store twice to get a few items and offered to drive me again if I needed something else (for Naija its somehow for your host to be driving you around so I declined further rides)

Again I have only been here a few days so I can't say all the blacks are hostile and I've certainly not encountered all the whites around. Pardon my generalization.
TravelRe: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 22 by johnstan(m): 3:43pm On Jan 05, 2023
Winnerpoks:
Worth the hype?
Very I must say.
The locals (whites) are really friendly and are ready to answer your questions if you are lost or confused. I rode the bus to school free to and fro for 2 days cos I'm yet to get my bus pass from school (i explained to the driver with cash in my hand tho). The blacks are hostile for no reason.

It's almost as tho I'm in India rather than Canada lol, the Indians are everywhere but occasionally you will meet the real Canadians.
I think I am the only Nigerian in my class but will find out once classes resume.
Come with enough funds for living expenses o, no jokes, I'm now realizing the reason for the emphasis/visa rejections.
Accommodation is mad expensive, and groceries are cheap but before you know it you don spend "ALOT".

Like @aestake said, there is constant light, water, and roads are tarred and wide.
Google map is a must or you loss literally.

Ok.thanks for your response. Truly appreciate.

My issue now is from Toronto to her final destination which is Charlottetown in Prince Edward Island.
If she will need to pay for the excess kg before boarding and what the charges will be like.?
If it is a connecting flight by the same airline she booked from lag (flights with stopovers) then she will not, but if it's a different airline, she will retrieve her bags at Toronto and most like pay for excess luggage again while boarding her next flight.
TravelRe: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 22 by johnstan(m): 2:40pm On Jan 05, 2023
NGOZIGLORI:
Pls John, I wanted to ask, did you carry excess kg? If yes....pls after paying for the excess kg at the airport here in Nigeria did you pay another money for it at Toronto when boarding flight to your final destination?
Yes, I had excess baggage.
I had to sort the airline staff on duty (they are the ones in charge). if you pay the normal price it will be expensive so just reason with them and drop something (it won't be less than 10k sha)
Once the bags are checked in you won't see them till you arrive at your destination and pick them up - My final destination was Toronto, I took a cab to waterloo.

Hi, please I'm just hearing about this "upkeep maintenance". Could you please tell me about it, I'm also looking for ways to change my Naira. Thank you.
It's a wire transfer you can initiate to your account abroad via form A at bank rate just like payment of school fees and PTA.
Banks now process the payment once a yr due to FX issues while school fees can be processed per semester.
The process now takes about 60 days just like school fees payment.

I hope this clarifies it.

Good morning All,

Please I need assistance and advice cos am really confused now.
I got admission for May 2023 / Conestoga College, have paid the deposit fee of $1500 n currently processing to pay the balance with firstbank given me issue.

I have applied for study visa n done with biometrics. Infact, am planning to have my upfront medical by 23rd of this month but this morning I got a refused letter from IRCC that I don't have sufficient fund.
My sister is my sponsor, I used her SOA with over N20m, my sch fee per year is $19k CAD plus.

Please I need advice on what to do next.

Then, I will like to ask does IOM refund? Cos am supposed to do the medical in lagos but due to the fact that I want to get it done this month I picked Abuja cos there's no more appointment in Lagos for this month.

Secondly, do I need to inform conestoga college for deferral of my admission or request for refund?

Pls elders in the house, help me am totally in a confused state.

Thanks in anticipation, God bless.
Sorry about the refusal.

You might need to recheck your documents or order your gcms notes to know where you missed it. A third party sponsored visa application can fail if not well packaged as it is not enough to simply use them.

If you're using a third party sponsor as a working class adult, you must prove that you're responsible enough to finance yourself along with your sponsor (you can't be working and expect that your sponsor will foot all the bills, what happened to your earnings). If you're a young school leaver/or fresh out of high school (sec school) then the scrutiny may be less as you're not expected to be financially capable to support yourself.

Your sponsor's financial commitments will be reviewed as well. If the person is married with kids, adding you to their expenses will be a factor that will be reviewed along with the person's income. If the person is single then the scrutiny may be less.

Other factors are the length of your program considering the financial obligation you're about to place on your sister, your home ties, is your chosen course a form of career progression (based on your work experience or previous degree), how packaged was your SOP etc. The application needs to be top notch, you understand.

I don't think there's a need to request for refunds of your medicals if you ask me especially if you plan to reapply. The medicals is valid for 12 months so doing it now will not be a bad idea. Contact them to confirm their refund policy though.

You can always defer your admission at least 2 weeks to your resumption and be placed in another intake, your fees will be transferred to the new intake. This is done via the ocas portal.
You can also choose to withdraw the application and request for refund ( your 1500CAD will be refunded less 200CAD admin fee if you attach your proof of refusal.
Note that you will be refunded based on the dollar rate for the day the funds are credited to your account so it can be lesser or higher than the amount you were debited in Naira.

I hope this helps.

Dear did you book Airbnb for few days or months and what is your location and cost per night and did you book a single room or shared apartment . I am still scouting for accommodation closer to my destination Toronto and what am seeing is just to high between 900 to 1400 cad a month . I checked Airbnb and cost also a bit high seems Toronto is expensive
I booked for a month. Its a shared apartment (private room, the rest of the house is shared).
It is always expensive if booked close to the end of month or begin of month cos of the high demand. I checked a month to my departure and was getting around $500 - $600, i kept procrastinating and it jumped to $900 - $1000 when i booked.
Housing in Ontario is generally high.

PPR Timeline and Documents

First Time Applicant
I give God the Glory for making this a reality. Truely, what God cannot do does not exist!

I would like to thank @Teeebabyyy, @Johnstan, @Thomysne @Jaykeh @Trailblazer21 @bullstriker @Joedave25 @lolathegenie and @Gigdraft @Yemilizzy for giving prompt response to my questions.

I submitted my application in July. I started visiting this platform after and I gained some wealth of knowledge.
My SOP was simple and straight to the point (2 pages with one extra page listing the documents I submitted).
I also had lump sum of 2M from my sponsor in my personal statement of account and also salary account which was a bonus from work. I did not explain the lump sums and when ever I see peoples' PPR story, I get anxious and the thought of explaining the lump sum and sending an updated SOP via webform always came to mind but I never did. To be sincere, after seeing some PPRs and documents submitted on this platform, I get worried about my application. I decided to relax and trust God to perfect it.
In August, I got a scholarship, sent it via webform but never got a response (aside generic response) until October. I also sent an email to the MP but they replied that the agents were busy with Russia applicants so they couldn't help.
2nd week in November, I sent a webform to ask for update on my application.
The following week, I forwarded email to Nairobi office.
The 4th week, I emailed Accra, Nairobi and London asking for update and also requesting them to expedite my application. That same week, I ordered my CBSA note. Lo and behold, I checked my portal a week after and saw that my eligibility had started. The following day, I received a medical request.
