Hi Johnstan,

Update:
I reached Vfs via webchat the next day and they confirmed it had been sent to DHL.. DHL just wanted to confuse their ancestors the passport was picked up today.

I think "lying" is a strong word

By the way, this inquiry was for my sister resuming at Conestoga in January.

Thank you

Little background
AOR Aug 22
Biometric Aug 23
Medical request Oct 15
Medical done Nov 2nd IOM
Medical passed Nov 5
PPR Nov 15
Sent to DHL Nov
Passport pick up Nov 30

I wish all of you the best. Most importantly speaking from experience because I also did the Express entry application you need to put provide the right information and put all your confidence in GOD

Hi, that's great.
Oh I wasn't implying that you were lying, I only wanted to point out that one cannot disregard your experience simply because it wasn't same as theirs.
Congrats to your sister once again.

Do they charge for that how much for the return? (vfs) I only pay for sending

If you send your ppt to the office you did your biometrics then it's free.
If you send to another office, you will need to pay transmission fee.

Thank you so much you are one of my mentors. Please I just want to know how I will get my passport back since DHL is not doing a two-way courier again. Though I am yet to send my passport

Congratulations once again.

I'm yet to receive mine so I'm not certain.
What I do know is that you will get a tracking ID from vfs once they receive your passport from DHL, I believe with that you will be able to track your ppt after submission. They have their own courier service and I sent mine to VFS Lagos so I'm waiting on them.

Thanks for your reply. Please can you help with reviewing my SOP?

You're welcome.
I'm sorry i don't review SOPs. My siblings and parents were the ones who reviewed all of my SOP drafts till I used the one I was comfortable with.
I also used several drafts I saw on Google and on Nairaland here to draft mine.
I recall that @showyoung reviewed my very first draft. you can reach out to him or any other guru here who does that - NB. their services are not free.

Good morning guys, please can someone help me with the link where IRCC said we can have a tear POF, then explain how the rest can be paid. I am just worried, I am going for 2 years program and would like to sponsor myself and explain how to pay the 2nd year expenses. Have seen people do that on this forum. I was denied based on personal asset and financial cos I used a third party sponsorship, i dont want to make another mistake.

@Johnstan, I know you used this same approach and have been sending you mail but yet to respond

Hi Kimberley, please don't send me mails, I no longer have access to the email address linked to my nl profile.

Here's the link
https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/study-canada/study-permit/get-documents.html

Being self sponsored and sponsored by a third party are both fine. Someone can be self sponsored and still get denied if their application is not well packaged.

Gather you POF, let it be sitting in your account for at least 4 to 6 months before you generate your MBS statement.
Explain any lump sums and attach receipts to back it up.
Explain your source of income as a self sponsor and how it will keep coming even when you leave naija.

Good luck.

Thomsyne, pls is it necessary that a sponsor should transfer the POF the applicant's account.

That would be perfect and explained on your SOP, however, it is not compulsory.

Long post alert!

Been on this thread for a while and I'm an older applicant. Started trying express entry around 2018 but something was always not aligning, transcript wahala and then low CRS scores. Wanted to try the student route in 2019 but a friend said because of my age, I most probably wouldn't get approved, so I abandoned it. In 2020, same friend advised me to try the student route for my daughter and that's when I came to this thread and it helped me tremendously to package my daughter's application which was approved and I've shared the story here too. So, while I was doing research for my daughter's application here, I'd see older people once in a while with approved applications, I started considering it again, the more I read about approvals for people within my age range, the more encouraged I became, so I took the plunge. Long story short, below is my timeline

Upfront medical - April 2022
Application submitted - 28 June 2022 (new portal used)
Sent a webform in July to ask them to update medicals.
Medicals passed - 20 August 2022
Eligibility review started - 31 October 2022
BVL & PPR - 3 November 2022
PP submitted - 4 November 2022 (Lagos VFS)
PP received - 22 November 2022

Documents submitted
LOA
SOP (3 pages)
Passport biodata page
MBA transcript
Other professional certificate(s)
Resume
MBS - personal account
MBS - business account
Bank reference letter stating I'm sole signatory
Coy registration documents
Coy Invoices and PO's
Board resolution letter, confirming my leave from work and that coy was going to fund my studies
Same person affidavit cos name arranged differently on different official documents
Notarized Letter of support by spouse - saying that he'd take care of our kids and help oversee my business.
MBS of spouse's coy account
IELTS & WES - submitted cos I had it
Old and valid visas and stamped passport pages
PCC
Deed of assignment
Birth certificates of my kids
Passport biodata page of spouse
Passport biodata page of mum (expired)
Death certificate of father
4 pictures - with spouse, kids and mum

Things that may have helped me:
* I have valid US and Canadian visit visas and just returned from a recent trip to Canada to visit daughter.
* I approached 2 MP's, one responded and said background check was passed but eligibility hadn't started as at September, other MP didn't respond.
* After my return from Canada in September, sent about 5/6 webforms and same amount of emails, sent about once every week, different days of the week. Different story each week but basically asking for a decision to be made on my application.
* Didn't apply with second daughter and husband
* Tuition paid in full
* My coy is funding my studies, so included a board resolution letter approving amount to be spent.

This platform has been great and I can't quantify the wealth of information you can get from here as long as you're patient and willing to research, will share some tips:

If you're following this thread or any other one you're interested in, leave the tab open on your device, that way you can come back and continue from where you stopped, just refresh to load new pages. You won't then miss responses to any questions you've asked or new points/stories that have been shared.
Use the notes app on your phone. If there's any information that has been shared on nairaland or any other platform that you think will be useful to you or someone else, copy it out and paste it in the notes app. This way, that information is easily accessible to you in the future, just use your search tab on the app. I find this is more helpful than screenshots.
Google and YouTube the heck out of everything! NairaLand is great because it gives you the perspective of Nigerians living in Nigeria, who are on the same journey as you but there are other resources you should make use of because it shows you what other nationalities are doing to get their applications approved. Some simple questions can even easily be answered once you use Google & YouTube, believe me you get samples of documents, updates on travel requirements, school recommendations, meaning of abbreviations, literally everything is available there, just type in key words and voila, you're in.

Lastly, thank you to each and everyone that has shared their journey here, thank you to people who've lent a helping hand to total strangers. As someone who is private myself, I know the first instinct might be not to bother to share your story but trust me, it helps in encouraging and hopefully giving people the needed push.
My program starts in January 2023 and once I'm settled in, I "wish" to help people reach out to MP's cos I noticed they hardly respond to people living outside of Canada, I'm hoping it will be possible. This offer will be free and for people whose applications have significantly gone beyond the standard processing time and it will be at my discretion.
Best of luck to everyone!

Big congratulations

Good day everyone, I have some questions regarding form A.
How long does form A take to process now?
If your bank wants to debit the Naira equivalent from your bank account and they don’t find the money there, do they mail you to credit your account or they just cancel it?
Thank you all.

Within 60days
Your application will be denied and in most cases you will apply again and rejoin the queue.

Thank you. Its the Form A that's the main issue. I can't get any amount like that from the bank. To not lose admission I have to pay the fees. 2.7 using the official bank rate. 5.3m using flywire.
Thats a very huge difference.

You can either initiate the payment and notify your school of the disbursement time frame to see if they would wait
Or
Use black market rate to make the payment. (Fund a USD account and use a USD debit card)

Flywire doesn't convert and make the payment for you. They only receive the funds and send to your school.

Good day House, Thank you for the advice so far. Please I need a suggestion. I was just given admission to Durham College but was told to pay the sum of 8k CAD to secure my seat.
Is it possible to use only the LOA without paying to apply for a student visa?
Or if I am to pay the fees? Please what is the cheapest rate can I find now? Flywire is charging around 640$/N1.

Please help me ooo. According to their website, I actually thought the tuition deposit for Durham was $500.

Hi,

There's a portion on the application portal to upload your LOA while applying so it's needed.
Flywire has several payment options, However, people with Naira choose to use local bank transfer and that's where form A comes in - you will be charged at Bank rate but will wait for like almost 2 months.
Other options will require you to use a USD card or transfer from a USD account.

Don't forget to meet your admission conditions so you don't loose the admission.

Good luck.

Is there any place to fill in travel experience in Canadian visa application form? If none, my fear is addressed.
Yes, the application portal has a portion where you disclose any previous visa refusals.

Nairalanders, pls I need ur help. In 2017, I used an agent to apply for the USA B1/B2 visa. And as part of packaging I claimed that I had travel experience by stamping South African visa on my old passport page. Though I was denied visa not because of the fake SA visa but because I did not meet the eligibility at that time.
Now I want to apply for Canadian student visa, I want to know if I should still claim to had travelled to South Africa since US and Canada share information?
Would Canada request for my old passport if I should claim to had travelled to South Africa?
Or I should fill that I have no travel history in my application?

Pls, I am in dilemma right now.

I don't know about visa sharing info with South Africa.

I think you should focus on stating that you got your US visa denied and move on.
Travel history is not a must, so many people here have gotten approved without any travel history.

Good luck.

@Johnstan, please does Abuja VAC do walk-in passport submission, if they don't how can I submit my passport and get it back ASAP.

It's available, I've read someone do that here.
If the location is close to you, you can opt for that but if it's not just send via DHL.
I assume you did your biometrics in Abuja, if you did not, don't forget to pay the transmission fee.
The SMS prompt is overrated but you can pay if you don't have time to check your mails for updates.

Air ticket prices are skyrocketing so book ASAP if you're resuming for winter intake.

Hi Naira landers pls I got scholarship from an Anglican Diocesan communion, so my question is this hope their won’t be issues of them being my financial sponsors as it’s a third party although I still have over 7m in my own account , please I need responses

Guyyyyyys please I need your kind responses pls

third party sponsors are only difficult to pull you through if you are
*unable to prove your relationship with the institution.
*unable to obtain a verifiable letter/certificate of sponsorship stating If funds are to be credited into your account or if funds will be paid directly to the school.
If you can produce these information and other supporting documents then by all mean go ahead with them.

good luck
