EducationRe: Bulk Of Education Budget Spent On Public Universities’ 10,500 Professors – FG by jolyment: 11:07am On Oct 08, 2020

I don't understand this question. The employer (FG) may have decided to exempt CBN or me from IPPIS, but has said ASU(N) should be on IPPIS, that is the prerogative of the employer.
Some countries have their embassy in Abuja, some have in Lagos, some have in the two, some don't even have, can you dictate for them where they should locate their embassy for example?
A lecturer in Nigeria is entitled to supervision allowances, excess workload allowances etc. ASUU wants these things to be in IPPIS .FG said nooooo.

[quote author=Wealthyone post=94726621]Most of the so-called journals are plagiarized. The have never protested the current state of the universities which they actually embezzled the monies apportioned for that. They always resist external audit and hardly remit to the government. They are part of the problem.

Before they can publish any article,it has to pass plagiarism test. ASUU has told FG to investigate universities via visitation panels. But FG refused.

It doesn't make sense throwing money at everything that appears as a problem/challenge coz we are yet to justify the budgets from the past.

If financial auditors were to be called in, many of these lecturers&profs will cry.
You're right, ASUU has been telling FG to investigate the spending of universities via visitation panels. But FG refused.

Government should outsource lecturing and gradually phase out these selfish ASU(N) members, the same way banks and other serious companies now use contract staff to ensure efficiency.

When you make use of contract staff, you only business as employer is the company you gave the contract to, if that company is unable to manage her staff and they disrupt the academic calendar of the school allocated to them, you put up an advert for new contractors. Nonsense.

Every company has its own system of paying her staff, some companies will insist that you must have an account in a particular bank if you intend to receive your salary, yet you have ASUU telling government they do not want to receive their salary from IPPIS.
Why can't CBN join IPPIS? ASUU wants their peculiarities to be captured by fraudulent IPPIS. If their peculiarities are added, they will join.

It's a foolish question and I know that majority of Nigerians have a penchant for asking foolish questions.[/quoos

Is it bad for FG to fund education and pay their allowances? Most schools don't have adequate facilities .

Yes, give their job to a contractor, let that contractor employ them and see if they will not be better behaved. Banks, Oil and Gas companies use that model and jobs get done very quickly.

Go on strike for 6 months and yet receive salary, not as if they know anything.
Look at other universities in the world trying to be the first to come up with vaccine for COVID, these ones de on strike.
Do you know that it's FG fault, ASUU want them to fund University and pay their allowances. Is it bad? If we use that your approach, education wji be expensive in Nigeria.

I heard that in the news this morning. The so called professors that can't invent or innovate, always fighting for money and writing journals....shior.

What of the money Jonathan pumped in Universities? They have embezzled all.
What's bad in writing journals? Some journals are charging 100dollars to publish articles. We have many of them who have discovered something, Obaleye in Unilorin is a good example. For them to discover something, they need better working conditions.

Can you teach these kids forever? No!
Think about career prospects rather than the current pay!
Do you know how lecturers make their money?
From sales of hand out and textbook
Imagine you get to sell handouts at the rate of 1k to 100 students per department and you're lecturing about 5 departments (100Level)
Do the math
As a lecturer you can't possibly have class from 8-6PM
Every school session ends by 4pm
I don't want to including sorting grin because that's corruption
Anyways its still your choice to make
Just lent my advice
Handouts are not allowed in some schools.

are lecturers not ASUU? does ASUU teach in class? it's lecturers that teach. the ones that partake in election do introduce themselves as lecturers in so and so department and so and so university. so ASUU partake in electoral process in the name of lecturers.
FG might not fund schools to the sufficient level, but can the schools account for the ones they are getting. do you know how much they generate from the post jamb, pre degree, mba and some other business ventures? can't hostels be built and maintained from these? I still tell you that ASUU are fighting for themselves and not the school nor the students.
Do you that ASUU has told FG to audit schools account by sending visitation panels, but FG refused. The agreement that FG signed with ASUU is a problem, in the agreement, FG will need to fund University properly and pay lecturers earned allowances.

you people are funny. is it now that all is tired of staying home that ASUU know that infrastructure need to be fixed? they have been fighting for their pocket since March only to device means of making the agitation acceptable to public by bringing the infrastructure things. why can't they say that schools need to be equip during general election when they eagerly serve INEC as ad-hoc staff? or can't they boycott inec job to pressurise govt. ASUU are only fighting for money in their pockets.
ASUU doesn't take part in elections. When lecturers take part in elections, he or she is not representing ASUU. FG need to do the right thing . If they aren't ready to fund education, they should increase school fees.
