Focus: A Living Faith

WORD FOR TODAY
A living faith is the faith that is kept alive irrespective of the prevailing situation at hand. The power of God becomes inactive in the life of a man the moment his faith dies!!!

The battle you will not but face as you advance in the journey of destiny is the battle to keep your faith alive. In any situation of life you have not been defeated if you still hold on to what God said and you have not rejected His counsel for your life.

A living faith is a faith that will not shrink though pressed by many foes and that will not tremble on the brink
of poverty or woes. It is a faith that will not murmur nor complain in the midst of various challenges of life and in every occasion of chastening rod of the Lord. A faith that leans upon God in the hour of grief or pain.

You must have a faith that shines more bright and clear, when tempest rage within and without. A faith that does not fear danger or have a feeling of doubt in the hour of darkness. Do not forget that as a believer the only means of survival you have in every situation of life is to live by faith.

Focus: Looking Unto God

WORD FOR TODAY
All men whom God helped in the journey of destiny were not ashamed. Irrespective of the strength you think you have, you must never fail to seek the Lord for help if you must not be ashamed!!!

There are men who have strength, expertise, influence and power but that which they have did not save them from disgrace. We can remember the likes of Goliath and Pharaoh who appeared to be powerful but the fact that they failed to acknowledge God they ended up in disgrace.

Also, the life of the likes of Jabez, David, Hannah and others in their weakness called upon the Lord and found strength in Him to overcome what should have put them to shame.

You don't need to fret yourself each time it seems as if you have no strength in the face of situation that wants to disgrace you. The people of old who looked to God were radiant, and their faces were not ashamed. This is also applicable to your life; look up to God in all situation of life and you will not be ashamed.

Focus: Do The Bit You Can

WORD FOR TODAY
In every domain of placement, a man can only do the bit he can within a limited time frame. It is a grievous sin before God, if you fail to do that which your hands find to do with all your might!!!

Life gives every man the opportunity to do the bit he could in every facet of life. The manner we handle the things placed in our hands determine what will be said of us hereafter. As we proceed in destiny we should be mindful of the fact that there will be hereafter.

The life of a man is segmented into different tenure just like we have in the government settings and formal organizations. No man occupies a position forever. Wherever you find yourself you are using your own tenure because there is a grave after every moment of life.

Be mindful of the fact that people will say something about how you lived and your achievements in your time. They will sight the difference between you, your predecessor and successor. Despite the fact that you will only be given the opportunity to contribute a bit in every domain of life; let the bit be your best!

Focus: Not Without Weaknesses

WORD FOR TODAY
There is no man created by God that is without a peculiar weakness. All men who became great in destiny were those who found strength in God to overcome their weaknesses!!!

"But he said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest on me." (2 Corinthians 12:9 NIV)

Every man has a weakness. Those who failed in destiny were people who were overshadowed by their weakness. Hence, one of the most important responsibility of a man as he proceeds in destiny is to make conscious effort through the help of God to overcome his weaknesses. The weakness you fail to confront will weaken you and make you fragile in every domain of placement.

The likes of Abraham, David, Moses, Isaac and Jacob were people with serious and obvious weaknesses but they found help in God to be who they became and God is not ashamed to be called their God.

The first step in overcoming your weaknesses is to identify and accept the fact that you have a weakness. You must admit the fact that you need help each time your weaknesses manifest. You must never forget, that the grace of God is available and that it is sufficient to make you strong.

Focus: Love as a Measure for Maturity

WORD FOR TODAY
One of the most important parameter used to measure spiritual maturity is love towards God and man. A man is not matured until he understands love and manifests its attributes!!!

"When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child; but when I became a man, I put away childish things." (1Corinthians 13:11NKJV)

At any point a man chooses not to allow God to find expression in his life his behaviour will be childish. When Jesus was crucified on the cross at calvary He did not forget to make known to the entire human race even in His suffering that He truly loved us; He said "Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they do." (Luke 23:34).

It takes maturity to forgive those who offends you, mature people do not spend their strength to oppress those who appear weaker than them. They don't pay evil with evil but overcome it with good. They are lovers of good things and support righteousness.

Immature people are impatient, wicked, envious, boastful, proud, arrogant, rude, self-seeking, easily angered and keep record of wrongs. They delight in evil and do not stand in truth (1Cor 13:4-. God is love and He remains the benckmark that determines maturity. The attribute of immature people is not that of God. Anyone living such a life have not known God.

No matter how great the plan of God is for your life and the confidence you have in God the fact still remains that you must live your life in absolute carefulness!!!

It is the plan of God that we should be who He wants us to be and also make eternity with Him at the end of days. It is the plan of God that we should live long and see His salvation. However, all these will come to pass if we are careful enough and walk according to the precept of God.

One of the most important qualites that defines a wise man is carefulness. A wise man is careful with his words, actions and how he relates and treat people. They are careful to obey God's instrustion for lives. Every true wise man knows that no matter how the ground on which they stand appear to be it can be slippy at times and that there is no benchmark a great person can attain in life that they can be rest assured that they can never fall.

Even when it seems as if the people around you are loving, it doesn't change the fact that the devil who goes about seeking for whom to devour does not have an agent in human form who will ensure that you fail and fall. The only antidote to this is careful obedience to God's word. The lives of several great people have been cut short not because they are not believers nor have God but they were careless and atimes having confidence in the wisdom of men.

Focus: The mindset of a Man

WORD FOR TODAY
Wherever you set your mind represents the mindset which determines your experience; you cannot rise above where you set your mind. Your mindset is wrong each time your thought is not in line with what God wants you to do or thinking about you!

The will of God will only be done on earth when we set our minds to His will as it is done in heaven. The mindset of a man determines how he sees things, his approach and the strength he put in place in everything he does.

As humans, we already have a mindset of what is called beautiful, success, achievement. In many cases God has a different view to what is in our mind. Joseph under God despite being a slave was regarded as prosperous man. To have the right mindset in every domain of life we must seek to know the mind of God.

The mind of the man at the pool of Bethesda was set at the stirring of the water by an angel but Jesus came to heal him (John 5). Jacob had already set his mind in the fact that Joseph was dead if not for God's intervention. It is the mindset of David that made him see Goliath as an uncircumcised Philistine who will be defeated (What is your mindset about your problems?). It is mindset of Gehazi that made him think that it was a great loss for Elisha to reject the gift of Naaman (what is your mindset about righteousness?)

The experiences of these people and what their lives turned out to be depended on where they set their mind.

Focus: We Brought Nothing

WORD FOR TODAY
In everything you do and wherever you find yourself in life you must never forget that you brought nothing into this world and you are taking nothing out of it!!!

We need to always remind ourselves that life is a temporary assignment. We have seen men with wonderful titles, honours, medals, awards, positions and possessions of life leave various scene of life without prior notice. They left everything without taking any along with them. What they have becomes another's and be at the mercy and favour of God alone as they advance into eternity.

We also, as a witness to how many of these wonderful people transit into eternity will also join their league when the time comes. The funeral of those people who attend other people's funeral will be attended by others; such is life.

Hence, you have not found anything if you have not found God. The greatest gain in whatever you seek is to find God. It is not the case that we should not strive to get the best from our endeavours but the issue is that in all our gettings we must get God as our ultimate and prioritized inheritance. Don't forget being a living soul, having wonderful possession and occupying a position of authority is a privilege: You brought nothing and you will leave with nothing!

Dealing with your appetite is an attitude you must imbibe in every quest to fit into God's purpose and fulfill your mandate in life. There is no man who became great for God without dealing with his appetite!!!

When the Lord is set to use men for His glory, He ensures that their appetite is pruned. He took the Israelites through the wilderness for 40 years just to prune their appetite by making them to know by experience that man shall not live by bread alone; but man lives by every word that proceeds from the mouth of the LORD ( Deut 8.3).

Daniel did not become 10 times better without dealing with his appetite. It is not as if the King's delicacy was not attractive to him but he chose not to yield to the will of his appetite to please God. Every able young man like Joseph will easily yield to the advances of Portiphar's wife

Right from creation the greatest battle of man is the battle of appetite. The sin of Adam is that of his appetite.The battle you will not but confront in every quest to please God and fulfill your mandate in life is that of appetite. You have to seek the help of God to deal with your appetite before it destroys you.

Focus: Element of Every Temptation

Every temptation either comes as lust of the eyes, lust of the flesh and pride of life. The Lord will not place something serious in the hands of a man until he through the help of God overcomes the lust of the eye, lust of the flesh and pride of life!!!

"For all that is in the world--the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life--is not of the Father but is of the world." (1John 2:16 NKJV)

The major component of worldliness is actually lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life. There is no man who has a soft spot for worldliness that will ever overcome temptation. The test the devil will place before you at every point in time will always be in terms of lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life.

Satan tempted the Lord Jesus using these parameters: turning of stone to bread (lust of the flesh), bowing down to worship the devil in exchange for the glory of this world (the lust of the eyes), and throwing himself down from the pinnacle of the temple because there is a promise of an angelic backing (the pride of life).

The devil is not ignorant of our weakness as men, for he knows that an ordinary man is weak in the face of lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life. Hence, the only way to overcome temptation is to come after Jesus by denying himself, taking up his cross and walking in his steps (Luke 9:23)

It is only that which is born of God that can overcome in the battle of life. When God is involved in the affairs of a man's life, he can be rest assured that he will overcome in the battle of life!!!

The word "overcome" is associated with battles. We are in for serious battle each time we set out to possess our possessions and have rest in the land of the living. Nevertheless, the battle we face is not of us and beyond us but the battle is the Lord's the Alpha and Omega.

Therefore, we can only overcome in the battle of life through the help of God alone. Your Academics, Marriage, Business and Ministry will only overcome if its foundation is rooted in the word of God and established by faith in Him.

To be born of God means to believe in Christ Jesus and allow Him through the Holy Spirit to live His life in you. If you resemble Him, you will not sin; you will keep yourself, and the wicked one cannot touch you (1John 5:18). As you proceed in destiny be mindful of the fact that you can only claim that you have faith if God can take responsibility of your actions.

Darkness submits at the emergence of light. The only time a man will prevail over every works of darkness is when he shines as light!!!

Light is the only antidote to darkness. As long as there is an element of darkness in the life of a man, he will not be free from the works of darkness. Sin, little compromise and every act of unrighteousness promotes the work of darkness. What the devil wants to achieve in the lives of men is to ensure that darkness have a foothood in their lives.

Your greatest battle in life as a child of God is how you will consistently shine as light in every domain of life. To shine as light means responding to people and situation according to the will of God. It means allowing God to live His life (Holy Spirit finding expression) in you.

The works of God and the efficacy of His power will come to reality in your life if you present yourself to shine as light. Free yourself from the enterprise of the evil one by pleasing God with your life!!

By the virtue of what you have passed through so far in life you must have come to some important conclusion in terms of the blessing or consequence associated to some actions as well as the attributes of God.

King Nebuchadnezzar was made to spend seven years in the wilderness among wild animals just to make him to understand who God was. At the end of seven years he came to an important understanding of the following fact:

1. There is a King in Heaven who must be praised, extolled and honoured above others.
2. His works are truth and His ways justice.
3. He can bring down all those who walk in pride.

What is your conclusion after all you've been through? Have you come to the knowledge of God's attribute? Do you agree with the dealings of God in your life by living in conformity to His standard for your life? A man is only wise if he learns from his experience and that of men around him.

Focus: The Heart of a Fool

No man is created to be a fool but a man becomes a fool whenever he fails to acknowledge God in his endeavour. Acknowledging God in every facet of life is the beginning of wisdom!!!

A very great height of foolishness is identified each time a man neglects the counsel of God in every affairs of life. It is only a fool that knows the will of God and chooses to do otherwise or knows the consequence of an action and still goes ahead to do it. What you say in your heart matters alot and determines who you are.

"Who will/can challenge me?", "There is none like me!", "I am invincible", " I am better than them", "There is nothing they can do without me", "I can do and undo", "Nobody can stop me" are the languages of a fool. Nebuchadnezzar said to the 3 Hebrews: "Who is the god who will deliver you from my hands?" But God revealed himself and proved to him that he was indeed a fool; his folly was treated in the wilderness for Seven Years (Dan 4:28-37).

Goliath became a fool the day he defied the armies of the Lord (1Sam 17:35). King Herod was so foolish that he took the glory which belonged to God (Acts 12:21-24). When a man begins to accept any feelings or deliberate in his heart that he is something without due reverence to God and His will he becomes a fool.

A very great height of foolishness is identified each time a man neglects the counsel of God in every affairs of life. It is only a fool that knows the will of God and chooses to do otherwise or knows the consequence of an action and still goes ahead to do it. What you say in your heart matters alot and determines who you are.

"Who will/can challenge me?", "There is none like me!", "I am invincible", " I am better than them", "There is nothing they can do without me", "I can do and undo", "Nobody can stop me" are the languages of a fool. Nebuchadnezzar said to the 3 Hebrews: "Who is the god who will deliver you from my hands?" But God revealed himself and proved to him that he was indeed a fool; his folly was treated in the wilderness for Seven Years (Dan 4:28-37).

Goliath became a fool the day he defied the armies of the Lord (1Sam 17:35). King Herod was so foolish that he took the glory which belonged to God (Acts 12:21-24). When a man begins to accept any feelings or deliberate in his heart that he is something without due reverence to God and His will he becomes a fool.

God has plan and purpose for everything in life. In every quest to achieve something in life don't make any attempt to outrun God or do contrary to His will. The likes of Gehazi and Achan who tried to outrun God did not only bring trouble on themselves but also their families.

Seek the face of God to give you that which is good in every situation so as to live a guilt and sorrow free life. Don't become an enemy of God on the account of ephemeral things and the enjoyment of this life. His plan is great and your glorification is looming in every aspect of life!

Many people in their quest for wonderful things of life do all sought of things to get it. Whatever way you get what you have the fact still remains that when God decides to give some thing He gives that which is good.

The Devil will not but always want to ensure that you have what you want in his own way because that is the only way he will bring his enterprise to reality. Accepting what the devil offers at any level of life is synonymous to rejecting that which is good that God gives.

The likes of Achan and Gehazi accepted the offer of the evil one which promised increased but turned out to be what destroyed them. Joseph also received similar offer he chose that which is good - God's will for his life. What you have is good if you receive it from the Lord. The Lord in every situation makes His will known to us to ensure that we get the best out of life. There is no other way to be happy in Jesus order than to walk in His way.

God allows you to pass through all you are passing through to give you a story. If you can think deeply about how you lived so far in life you will discover that in the actual sense you have a story to tell. This is not where you use to be and this is not your final destination because the Lord is taking you somewhere; when you get there your story will inspire some to believe God as the Almighty.

No matter what you are passing through be mindful of the fact that victory is in sight. The beauty of the process you are going through cannot be known as at the time you are in it but at the end. At a point, David was mourning and putting on sack cloth but at the end he said "You have turned for me my mourning into dancing".

Time and space will not permit us to talk about the likes of Joseph, Daniel, Hannah, Abraham etc who had a share of their own ordeal in this life but waited until God decorated their destinies. The process was not easy and palatable but the story was sweet and inspirational at the end of their lives. You also, must wait until the Lord beautifies your life.

Life is characterized by both positives and negatives; advantages and disadvantages. Any man who goes on in life thinking only about positives or negatives is bound to fail. With your experiences so far in life I think you don't need anyone to tell you that life is all about both the positives and the negatives.

All those who became what God wanted them to be in life did not achieve it on the platter of gold. They all had a share of their own ordeal in the journey. The negative situations of their lives shaped them into what God wanted to achieve with their lives. David was able to say at a point in his life that "God trains my hands for battle; my arms can bend a bow of bronze". Joseph told his brother that they were instrument of God to bring his dreams to pass (Gen 45:5).

Hence, do not fret yourself at the emergence of negative situation of life. Don't let the negatives of life consume you. They are part of the process that will make you who God wants you to be. If you must be conscious of the bad situation in your life let it become a driving force and motivation to achieve great things!

The only man who will not fulfill the lust of the flesh is the one who chooses to submit himself to walk in the spirit. Every man who is not walking in the spirit no matter who he is and how long he has been in faith will be corrupt. There is no limit to the evil and shameful thing you can do if each time you choose not to allow God to work in you to do His good pleasure.

To walk in the spirit means to submit yourself to do the will of God as directed by the Holy Spirit in every situation and every point in time. It means to deny yourself, carry your cross and walking in the steps of Christ. Giving an allowance for God to work in you both to will and to do His good pleasure. Hence, the corrupt nature of a man will only be in subjection when we walk in the Spirit!

The life you live in every facet of life is a seed that will bring forth bountiful fruit in the days to come. Even when it seems as if you are not reaping the fruits of your deeds it doesn't mean that it does not have reward and consequence accordingly.

Every man sowing a seed will have feelings based on the nature of his seed (good or bad). Sowing good seed is characterized by sacrifice. You can't sow good seed without having a feeling of giving out something precious. Sowing bad seed is characterised by pleasure which comes as a fulfillment of the sinful nature.

Do not be deceived, you cannot mock God. The evil of evil men live with them and can never depart from them. So also the goodwill of good people. In everything you do, be mindful of the word of the Lord which says "My reward is with Me, to give to every one according to his work." (Rev 22:12).

Despite the fact that we go on in life with the aim of getting good things; the fact still remains that we should have great desire for what God gives. The Lord on many occasions choose not to answer our prayers because what we thought is good for us is actually not.

Hence, do not be deceived by how good something appears to be or by how much people root for it. Get whatever you need pertaining to life and godliness from the Lord!

No matter how long a man has been with God, the fact still remains that he can still become an unbeliever if he unequally yokes himself with an unbeliever. When you walk with bad people every good things in your life will suffer corruption.

Do not be deceived, your friend, marriage, school, church, business partner and whatever company you belong to has a very great influencing factor in what you will become. Wherever you find yourself let the word of God guide you!!!

The confidence in the fact that God is fair and merciful makes people to think that despite their ways God did not abandon them and they cease not to enjoy His blessing.

But for you, God is asking you that don't you know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? What is the verdict of God as far as your lifestyle is concerned? The hightest height of deception is identified if you think God will honour you and grant you access to His Kingdom when you choose to live in disobedience to His will. Do not be eaten up by whatever you are enjoying by His grace but be mindful of His verdict over your lifestyle.

There is an underlying principle of God that defines and makes a successful marriage. It is not a function of faith, belief, religion, knowledge in the word of God or by how much you can pray but conscious obedience to God's principle for a successful marriage.

Those who are truly enjoying their marriage blissfully were those who consciously follow the principle laid down by God. Even when your marriage appears to be wrong the fact still remains that you are married already; you can correct every lapse and make it work by following God's principles.
Every marriage starts on a very good note, but challenges set in along the line. When this happens you must submit to do whatever God tells you.
His principle is revealed to us as follow:
1. God hates divorce be it physically or logically (Mal 2:16)
2. Husbands must love their wives the way Christ love the church
3. Wives must submit to their husbands irrespective of who they are and their status (Eph 5:25).
Irrespective of your experience in marriage; you will be on the safe side when you do only what the Lord tells you.

Life can be categorised in 3 stages: morning, afternoon and evening/night. The morning stage is the childhood stage. It is the time when man begins to grow into life to learn his environment and major life's decision are made for him. At this point, man doesn't really worry about his needs. It is also a stage where man believes and accepts many things of life as standard for living.

Hence, every man has the sole responsibility to teach his children to walk in the pathways he desires for them to walk even at old age.

The afternoon stage is the time of youthfulness. A time of yoke bearing and work. It is also a time that a man should be wise enough to face the reality of life because it is a point when most things about him becomes permanent. A time to find your real identity in profession, career, marriage and other aspect of life.

The night stage is the time of life's evaluation, a time to look up and prepare for eternity. When your body (skin, legs, hands, teeth, eyes and body organ) begins to fail you, know that the night is coming and you are about to sleep just like others who were before you.

Focus: Burning But Not Consumed

The interest of God is revealed over your life in that you are not consumed despite all you've been through. With the presence of God in your life, you can never be consumed irrespective of the intensity of fire around your life!!!

And the Angel of the LORD appeared to him in a flame of fire from the midst of a bush. So he looked, and behold, the bush was burning with fire, but the bush was not consumed." (Exodus 3:2 NKJV).

Despite all you've been through; you are still alive today; it has been God all the way. You were not consumed because the Lord took it on Himself to preserve you.

This incident as indicated in the scriptural reference above came in a build up to the deliverance of the Israelites from their land of slavery. It really meant a lot to them and very significant to their destinies. Despite being in their land of slavery the Lord still took note of them. This was also revealed in the fact that the task masters (Egyptians) were intimidated by their increase even as slaves. With all they did to them, including killing their sons, they were not consumed.

What you need as you go on in life is the presence of God. The experience you had in the past does not matter; what really matters is the fact that the Lord is going ahead of you. It is only on this basis that you can say I can face tomorrow.

Each time life appears to you as if you are something and tend to bring you into an era of glorification remember you are dust and that the breath of God make you a living being and His mercy worked out things in your favour. Hence, learn how to be humble enough by laying your crowns to worship the glorious God and honour Him with your life.

Sometimes we wonder why God is silent over the evil deeds of men and does not take drastic measure over them. We tend to lose patience over the growth rate of evil work of darkness. By human standard one will think that God should destroy evil doers and lawless people to establish the required peace in every domain of life.

However, the merciful God in His infinite mercy has made his verdict known to us; "Let both grow together till the time of harvest when their fruit will make the difference". From generation to generation both the good and the bad will keep growing together their fruit will be the only distinguisable factor that will separate them.

Hence, a man will be deceiving himself if he thinks he will get away with his evil deeds; the Lord has set judgement day for every deeds of men. The Lord chooses not to uproot the weeds in the context of men to make an allowance for repentance. That is why the Lord said: "my reward is with me to give unto every man according to his deeds" (Rev 22:12).
