Ok thanks. maternal: I don't know if that advice was wrong. I've never been in her situation nor am I a professional. But my father always taught me not to use short cuts in life, as it will always comeback to haunt you. I've also learned that nothing is guaranteed in life. How long is a while in the UK ? How much "easier" would it be practicing in Canada ? How do you even know when she's ready to come to Canada they'll be an immigration avenue for her available ? If she can migrate through EE, I'd come here, then start the process on becoming a doctor here. In the meantime my stay in Canada would count towards my inevitable citizenship. I'd also know that the program I'm doing will go towards me being a doctor in Canada eventually. I don't like what if's, or 50/50. I need to know if I do X, I'll be guaranteed to get X. If that was my sister, I'd tell her to bite the bullet, come to Canada, and do what you need to do to achieve her goals. |

She's still based in Nigeria. Would like emigrate to Canada, but was told about the difficulty of foreign trained doctors practicing there. Was advised that if she practiced in UK for a while, practicing in Canada would be easier. Was that advice wrong? maternal: Explain your sisters situation further. Why are people still going to the U.K when they clearly don't want immigrants ? As for your original question, it's not black and white. With a lot of immigrants coming into the country yearly, the gov't has to make sure he or she meets Canadian standards. Is their degree real ? Are they on the same level as Canadian trained doctors ?, etc. You'd be surprised how many witch doctors think they should be able to practice here once they land. Furthermore, like sal said, the system is outdated and associations which represent doctors like the shortages. It gives them good negotiating powers. Don't feel bad, I know Canadian citizens who had to leave the country for good, or go do placements in the states then comeback. Many Nigerian Canadians had to go to medical school in the Caribbean islands due to lack of spots |

Ok. Thanks. The whole thing is just frustrating. My sister has to put the Canada dream on hold and is pursuing a UK program instead. salford1: Limited residency spots across the country and Canada’s outdated residency matching system. It affects both Canadian and International medical graduates. Things can get better If the provinces can increase the number of residency spots. |

March February and it was Ekiti. The state that has booklets changes fast as people will come from out of state to get them. The immigration people can easily get the information of which state currently has booklets, but might not want to tell you so you can pay money to them. pepe1: Pls when was this and which state were you talking about? |

Meanwhile, my boss no de gree give leave. I went AWOL, enter road early in morning, got the passport and came home late at night. Elfmannisback: Passport acquisition updates!

Best to be prepared then. Newmum0615: It's randomly asked. You don't want to be in a position where you are among the few asked and you are unable to provide proof of the funds you stated you will be immigrating with. |

Modified: From what my seniors have posted, there's a random check. All the landing experiences and QnAs, I've read on the sister thread "Living in Canada" so far (page 1-173) suggests it is not checked at landing. See one I just read: https://www.nairaland.com/3617393/living-canada-life-canadian-immigrant/172#63666490The cash you carry with you and the value of goods you are carrying seems to be more important. However, some people stated that they took printed statements of accounts along just in case. Ifywhyteman: Please I want to find out something. When does one make use of the funds fixed after PPR has been received. Do the Canadian govt need to see the complete fund in your account when you touch down Canada or do you liquidate the fund while in Nigeria, and use it for flight, apartment rental and other stuffs. Please any body with a good idea. |

Don't have an answer to that. Anyone else? Akanns: Dear nairalanders , I want to ask this question. I applied to the UK in 2009 but was denied. The passport I used then had 1980 year of birth which was not my correct age at the time. I have changes my passport to reflect my correct age to 1978, and have travelled to USA with it in 2015. Kindly advise me how I can declear this in my Canada immigration application, will the denial or change of passport date of birth affect my application? Please advise |

Good one She has flexibility in doing either or both of TEF and IELTS. Shyee: This is the CRS link http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/crs-tool.asp Meanwhile, I simulated your credentials with the info you provided and IELTS score in LSWR of 8777 for yourself and 6.5 all through for your common-law partner you had 449, which is a good one. My recommendation is: Read the first 2 pages of this thread, follow the various links you find there for more information, AND start putting stuff together. Your story may change within 6 months if you're well equipped with good information. Emmyqueen: thanks for your comment. I'm 28, I have bachelor's degree in French studies. I'm not married yet but i have a child for him and we live together. My husband is 34, he has hnd in mass communication. He has his own business. Some personal ruminations: Total ITAs issued so far (including the 700 for the special PNP and Skilled Trades draw not on the list below): 47,200 Express Entry immigration target for 2018: 74,900 Source: https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/news/notices/supplementary-immigration-levels-2018.htmlBalance ITAs expected for 2018:27,700. No of draws expected:10/11. 9 or 10 normal draws and 1 special draw of 700. Average ITAs expected per normal draw: 2700/3000. Predictions: 1. From August or September, the number of ITAs issued per draw will reduce. 2. Draws will most likely remain at 440 and above. Lowest it may go is 439. PS: The analysis assumes that IRCC uses ITAs issued to evaluate its immigration target and not PPR issued, CoPR issued or Landings. o2: *Draws in Calendar year 2018 so far:*

The sister thread linked below is very valuable for all things Canada including the landing experience, which city or province to live, customs, jobs etc. It is very useful for all of us still waiting for something, reading the thread might help with the frustration of waiting. Start with page 114 113 or use this link: https://www.nairaland.com/3617393/living-canada-life-canadian-immigrant/113#61210244It is the equivalent of our page zero one where our own @Glitteringstar (Sis I hail you) has summarized pages 1-100. The forum is not as fast moving as this thread as the seniors are busy people already hustling the Canadian dream in different timezones from here. Let's read through the thread and ask relevant questions that will prepare us. It will end in praise! luffyhaki: https://www.nairaland.com/3617393/living-canada-life-canadian-immigrant Guitarlife: Hi guys as we are prepping for Canada it will be nice to have some tips for job search and all, especially for some of us looking at a career change it will be nice to start learning from here. I am switching from payment systems to database development/machine learning(long term) so I have been studying a lot , it is also a good thing to look through the Canadian job boards so we have an idea about the kind of skill in demand so we can channel our efforts in the right direction.
Anybody with any kind of helpful info should post here, its a weekend and it is a good time to learn something new. To my arguementators one love |

@Newmum, this your talent pass PwC o. You can definitely make a career in business consulting. Newmum0615: Not really. It's fine that way, but if you have that liberty, by all means do so. Some organisations' HR are very poor in writingJDs. Some are not detailed. I have had cause to help some HR friends design JDs for units in their organisations. It's a problem in most places. |

The reason WES is being so frustrating is that the competitors are even worse.
CES and ICES: 10weeks processing IQAS: 12weeks ICAS: 20weeks
The competition is too poor. |
