Serious stuff. Kai! Newmum0615: So, these people did not only go to I and hubby's LinkedIn profile, they checked my our Facebook as well, checked out our wedding portfolio pics online (the one done by the photographer), checked my UK school graduation ceremony announcement that showed an online copy of the brochure showing names of graduands, online copy of church bulletin showing church dedication announcement for my son. Whew! These people checked everything. How did I know? The links were listed right there on the GCMS notes I just received last night. Heading on the notes: Online Presence: Yes.
London is not joking. Long story cut short, clean up your online profile my people.
Have a blessed day. |

SegunWamiri: Thanks for this great summary but are you certain of the emboldened? If yes, would this be at the same time with the PA? Just saying since medical expires in one year and it's not likely that the applications of other members of the family would be in process within that validity period.

Long post alert!
Paying it forward on issue of whether spouses need to process ECA and IELTS for married people.
Very common question on this forum. I asked it myself but the simple and straightforward answer: “no, they don’t need to” really doesn’t solve the problem for some of us. A run-through of the Page 0 of this thread and the summaries of the earlier threads 1, 2 and 3 does the same.
So here it goes:
For married people, IRCC offers 3 options to the principal applicant: go with spouse, go without spouse or process with spouse who has PR or citizenship. 1. Go without spouse: The PA alone submits his/her ECA and IELTS/TEF and is processed alone. This lets the PA get the maximum individual score and has the advantage that if the PA is younger and has a good IELTS result, the spouse’s stats does not drag his/her points down below EE cut-off score. However, you and all your family still need to do medicals, you and your spouse still need to get PCC and your POF must also cover them. If successful, you go alone and sponsor your family to come later (12 months processing) or your spouse can start another EE application.
2. Go with spouse: Here it gets tricky. There are 3 scenarios. a. Scenario 1: The PA alone submits his/her ECA and IELTS. However, you lose a max 30 points (max 10 for spouse ECA, max 20 for spouse IELTS/TEF). It is good if your score alone can carry your family across the EE cut-off score.
This is the scenario a lot of people are really asking about as some spouses are really not ready for the work or their points drag their own points down. Simulate the scenario using the CRS simulator and put N/A for spouse Language scores and Zero for Education.
Some will wonder whether to apply as single and add the spouse after AOR. Remember that the marriage certificate will show your true wedding date and it may count as misrepresentation. Unless you really got married after application.
b. Scenarios 2: The PA also includes either of the spouse’s ECA or IELTS/TEF. You max 10 for spouse ECA or the max 20 for spouse IELTS/TEF.
c. Scenario 3: Both the PA and the spouse submit ECA and IELTS. In all the 3 scenarios, you get 15points if your spouse has a sibling who is a PR or citizen or 10points if your spouse has Canadian work experience.
3. Process with spouse who has PR or citizenship. This is applicable if your spouse had gone ahead and gotten his PR alone or before you married. IRCC will treat you as if you are a single applicant and so you will get the maximum individual score.
Hope this makes it clearer. Assess your family's unique situation. |

Nothing stops it, but I think it is a grey area. Canadians seems to be stuck up about intentions. You are meant to study, nothing else. That being said, what is the point? If your points are good enough, apply here. If your points are not good enough, you can apply for school, get study visa, finish the study and then and only then apply having acquired Canadian education that will boost your points. You will need to return first or first apply for a work permit. May5ive: Hi guys,
So i'm here again.
Can one get PR while studying in Canada?
Like getting a scholarship, and while you're there you apply? Is this another angle one can take? |

The ECA for your B.Sc may take time. Start now. WES ECA remains valid for 5yrs Getting a high score in IELTS is not as easy as it seems unless you are an English major. Start preparing now. IELTS score remains valid for 2yrs. Then apply for EE. You can always update your EE profile when you have better points. May5ive: I just calculated my CRS score.
438points! (Heard the cut off is 442)
Lol, I mean that's if my IELTS iTara'ss quite high. When I added french score, it skyrocket to 495!
So, I'm gonna do french too!
So my next move would be to start preparation for IELTS & the French test! |

Like @newbie18 wrote, calculate your CRS score first. That is why a lot of people are directing you to page 0. When you compare your CRS score to the current ITA cut-off points trend, you can baseline your decision whether to proceed now or do another thing to increase your score like 1yr PGD, French, better IELTS scores etc as the case may be. You don't need to do a 2yr Masters that may take 4yrs to finish in Nigeria. There are elections next year and if the Liberals lose, you may find that a new government may have changed immigration policy in 2020. May5ive: Hello Everyone,
Thank God I've found this thread. It's been my dream of relocating, but I'm planning 2020. I wanna use the next 2 yrs to get an Msc from Unilag, after that I start the process. What do you guys think?
I'm self funding myself, so of course during my MSc I'd be gathering money.
I want to present myself as VERY skilled, hence the MSc first. I have 3+ years working experience. |

Use the M.Sc for the ECA and search for the applicable NOC for your Logistics work experience. You can claim NYSC if you can back it up with documentation. chebyshev: Hello everyone,
My highest qualification is an msc degree in chemical engineering. I don't have verifiable work experience in this occupation. But, I have over 4 Years experience in logistics with proper documentation. So I was wondering if my experience in logistics will be counted if I nominate chemical engineer . Can I also claim my Nysc work experience? |
