Good day my people, Please is there anyone who did IELTS with British Council on the 12th of September and has received the Test Report Format (TRF)? My wife did in Akure and we are yet to receive it. We have called and sent mails all to no avail. Is this the new normal with BC? What should we do in this situation? Thank you. |
Hello Seniors, Please kindly help me with this POF issue bothering me. First let me give some background info. CRS: 464 (with wife accompanying) IELTS: L8 R7.5 W7.5 S7.5 IELTS (Wife): L7 R7 W6.5 S7 We have both done ECA at Masters level. NOC: 2174. Our target is OINP tech draw. Age: 34. (Birthday is February) To the main issue: We are a family of 4 and planning for POF of $24,083 ~ #7,000,000. I have #6,000,000 already invested in Treasury Bills and I have been thinking of how to raise additional #1.5m to be on the safe side. My question is can we use our pension scheme savings. My wife and I both have over #1m in our contributory pension. I heard one can use 25% of it. How true is this? Thank you. |
2funkyy:It's not there for British Council. You are referring to IDP. |
Please can anyone help me with IELTS Britist Council Akure Centre Number. And please how reliable is this: "The last two number of the year you wrote it, then followed by NG then your candidate number (pls Note if your candidate number is less 4 numbers you add 2 zeros in front of it) followed by the first 3 letters of your surname and the first Letter of your first name and then 150G." I need to update my EE profile with my wife's IELTS results but unfortunately the TRF has not gotten to us and we need this ASAP. Thank you. |
Onebase79:I am so sorry about this. I can understand your frustration. First, I'd advice you take a break and take your mind off retaking the exam immediately. Just read regularly for pleasure. Read blogs; follow post of excellent writers on Social Media; read books and take notes of new words and their usage; download documentaries (DW is my favorite) on Youtube and watch ... (watch this space as I update this) Second, check my profile to see what I wrote on my journey to band 9. I don't know if you are believer or not, but I pray for you in the name of Jesus that in your next exam you will clinch band 9. Amen. You will have testimony in Jesus name. Amen. |
Nacho4:Don't mind me ooo. I am not an agent neither do I work in Canadian immigration. I read it somewhere her this morning and it sounds plausible. |
oyukuwife:Write to WES for the correction. They will do. It happened to us - my wife and me. We share the same month and same year and I mistakenly swap my own day for her own. I wrote to them and they made the change. But wait... you mean your hubby's academics DOB is wrong. That's highly improbable! It will be difficult to believe. And by the way, they can't correct what schools sent neither can the school correct it now. Your hubby might have to stick to the DOB on his academic records and take another passport to reflect that. Ire oooo. |
AdamsAnthony:Ai rin jina lai ri abuke okere, tio ba de odo dadaa wa ri eja to yaro. 460s is like pure water this days. If you are below 35 and with band 9 IELTS plus Masters you will not only dive into the pool with 460, you will be swimming there. ![]() Let me even give you this unsolicited advice. I don't see Federal Skilled Worker Program draws going below 480 when it resumes in August. The earlier you start looking for ways to shore up your CRS score the better. So, 460 will likely not be good enough for FSWP. However, luck might smile on you with other streams. Ire ooo.

Kareemoh:1. You need to first decide which mode you want to take. I did it twice. The first attempt was Computer-Delivered (CD) in November 2019 with British Council and I had: L 7, R 6, W 7.5, and S 8. My choice of CD was the inherent advantages it has with Writing. The Writing part was a walk in the park as I didn't have to worry about corrections and insertions. I got my desired band score in Writing and Speaking but the first two sections, Listening and Reading, were affected. Reading, in my opinion, is difficult with CD. However, I have seen some band 9 results in CD Reading. So I could be wrong with that opinion or maybe the Reading of that day was disproportionately hard. The second IELTS was 20th of June (the results came in last Friday). I did Paper-Based at IDP and I had: L 8, R 7.5, W 7.5, and S 7.5. I struggled during the Writing part to finish the essay. It was a race against time and I was scared I could get 6.5. My advise: go for Paper-Based. 2. British Council or IDP? I read somewhere that IDP examiners are more lenient with their Writing rubrics. I can't confirm or deny that but what I can say is that my Writing with British Council last November was way better than the one I did last month with IDP and both results came back with band 7.5. I leave you to make your decision on that. 3. On preparation Nothing can substitute to doing a thorough preparation. You don't want to go there and disgrace yourself. It doesn't matter what level your of English is, you have to prepare for this one. Get Cambridge study pack and practice like you are sitting for the real exam. You can download on the Internet for free if you look carefully - if you have any problem with this let me know. It is invaluable for your Listening and Reading section and whatever you are getting is a reflection of what you will eventually get. So be sure you are hitting your band whilst preparing before registering for the examination. Review the questions you missed and you will begin to see patterns and your score should improve. If your score is not improving in Listening, take a break and download Podcasts especially dialogue. With Reading you can read books and novels. Speed is important in Reading. On Writing, Jay and Liz videos are on Youtube for free and if you can afford their premium content go for it. You also need to practice writing. Write as much as you can. Join IELTS Mooc group on Facebook and post your writings for people to help you review. It will help! On Speaking, get someone to drill you with the questions on the Cambridge Study Pack. If you can treat the questions there you should not have any problem with Speaking. Check out videos of Jay and Liz on Speaking too. Ire ooo. |
tmny01:I did. Thank you. How far have you gone with your OINP? |
ednut1:Thanks for your response. My NOC is 2174 so I am qualified for the tech stream. My main concern is actually the duration of the POF. I have all the POF but some are just a week old. I am tossed between waiting for 2 more weeks before including my new IELTS results - which will take my CRS from 370 to 448 and so increase my chances of being selected for OINP - or doing it now. I don't want my application to be rejected on the ground of POF duration. Meanwhile my POF is 85% Treasurey bill. What do you guys think? |
Voice234:Nice score. Where did you write yours? I did mine in Ibadan. |
I got my IELTS results today. Present CRS score 448. Wife scheduled to write IELTS soon. Who knows about Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program? I want to know about the POF if one is selected. Thank you.
|
chanceux:Same here. And to think some of them posted an impressive IELTS score. Imagine someone with 9988 saying "I gave ...". You are immediately tempted to add that to your vocab. May God help us. |
Hello good people. I submitted EE application and got admitted into the system yesterday. However, I was not sent the "Job Seeker Validation Code". I need it to apply for the Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program. When will I get the code? Can I just put a number - as the field is not validated - and submit the application? What do you guys suggest I do? Thank you. |
ojsamuel:I have been seeing loads of "I gave .... " on the internet and I am lost. Like is this a new way of speaking or what? Is it their (Indians) way of speaking? |
VECOH1:I am seriously considering retaking it. What I am not sure of is which mode to take this time around. |
Saintee2009:I took mine at Ajibode Ibadan too. It must be a general failure then. See I am extremely confident in these two sections that I am so sure that results do not reflect what I did. |
Is the Listening and Reading section inherently flawed to favour those doing PBT? I don't believe the first two sections are easier with PBT as I am pretty comfortable with using a computer and never thought there'd be any remarkable difference between the two. However, I am concern about the marking scheme. How are the first two sections marked? If it's manual marking, could a human be a bit lenient in instances of missing determiner or character for example? Whereas with a computer, it's garbage in, garbage out. That is the question I am trying to find an answer to. It's extremely difficult for me to admit I missed 9/10 questions in the Reading and Listening. |
I took the computer-delivered IELTS on 22 November and got my results yesterday. Listening: 7, Reading: 6, Writing: 7.5, Speaking: 8 Overall:7 I am really disappointed in the Listening and Reading results. I expected more considering my level of preparation and the questions were easy. So, I am thinking could it be because it's a Computer-Delivered test? Is the marking scheme different from PBT? I knew before the exam that with PBT you get a little edge in the first two sections but I never expected my results to be this abysmally low. I opted for the CD option because of its inherent advantage in Writing which I think is the toughest and now .... I am thinking of re-taking the exam. Should I try the PBT? What do you guys advice I do please? I need 8.5 in Listening and 8 is Reading.

To think I have a connecting flight at this Airport in a month's time is terrifying. Can I still change the flight schedule? Aviation experts in the house please help. |
When his son told me he will be going on leave after a tiring exercise that coincidentally ended yesterday, little did I know he had an inkling that he will soon be mourning his beloved dad. From the testimonies of his former students, now I know where my colleague got his smartness and energy from. A chip off the old block! RIP Professor Ogunniyi. My condolence to the entire family. |
It is still unimaginable for me to think that my pastor's husband (Mr. Tunji Okusanya of MIC) is involved in this accident. RIP bishop. #sobing profusely. |

Dr. Odejobi of the Compter Science and Engineering Department, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-ife, has been awarded a British Commonwealth Fellowship to conduct research at the University of Aston in Birmigham, United Kingdom. By becoming a Commonwealth Fellow in the United kingdom, Odejobi is following in a tradition of almost 19,000 individuals since the scheme began over fifty years ago. Dr. Odejobi will be working with Prof. Anthony Beaumont and Dr. Sylvia Wong, who are first class academics at the University of Aston, which ranked among the best 50 universities globally. Dr. Odejobi's work will focus on the development of a robust language resource backbone (theoretical and practical) for African Indigenous Languages (AIL) technologies. The research is in the background that, although African population with access to ICT (Information Communication Technologies) devices, such as Mobile devices and the Internet, is growing, the use of these devices in the processing of AIL is hardly possible. This is because AIL, and the African culture in general, are not considered in the conceptualisation, design and implementation of these technologies. The low functional loads and usage of African indigenous languages is gradually transforming the speculation that most AIL will be extinct by the end of the next five decades into a reality. Language resourses are critical to the development and deployment of large scale and robust language technologies, such as speech synthesis, speech recognition and machine translation systems. They are also necessary in research and development of educational software and tools based on African indigenous languages. Language technologies hold great potential for increasing the functional load (ie. usage) of AIL and preservations of their cultures. The British Council is administering the Fellowship. source: http://ifecisrg.org/content/dr-odejobi-awarded-british-commonwealth-fellowship |
Maestronaija: Well said.....gbam......My point is that, a nation is built with her best brain. Why should anyone not be able to see that seeking quality education outside is a cardinal feature of a poverty-striken nation? |
As a yoruba guy I totally disagree with those putting ethnic coloration into this guy achievement. There are lot of hausa's, ibo's et. al. making waves out there. With that said, can someone pls tell me how this guys feat affect our drive towards Sustainable Economic Growth and Industrialization? The more news of this kind of feat I heard the more I am sad for my dear country. |
