[size=8pt]This is great news for democracy. God really loves Nigeria!! I'm so excited by this ruling. This Judge has put this matter to rest once and for all. How can an organization be empowered to screen, yet cannot disqualify? Guys, don't underestimate what good this will do to our great country. Atiku is a desperate opportunist. |
Stay at home. It's obvious that a majority of people at rallies are touts, paid supporters or no-gooders. It's a show of force that takes none of your interests into consideration. The looters you're there to support don't give a rat's ass about your security. The ambulances + heavy security presence are there for their safey alone. Just attend an AC or PDP rally and see what I mean. Be warned. |
I'm a supporter of OBJ in spite of his inperfections, I admire him mostly for his courage and wisdom in engaging the likes of Chukwuma Soludu, Dora Akinluyi, Okonji Iweala, Oby Ezekwesili, El Rufai, Ribadu, Irene Chigbue, Ernest Ndukwe etc, Our past leaders played politics with everything and our lives, (As I list out this names, it's hard to ignore that most of the over-achievers in Nigerian goverment today are Igbos!!! hmmmm , and some Hausa). |
I think the elections should be postponed. This is probarbly God's way of 'facilitating' this decision making by man. Like Iwu stated earlier today, too many court cases too close to election day. Too many questions yet unanswered. It will also allow enough time to ensure the final nail in the greedy buffon Atiku's coffin. |
Intellectual laziness. |
The press will not report instances where Atiku looses. When he wins ThisDay will be the first to release headlines like 'Atiku floors FG'. I wondered why, until I did a little research of my own, Ribadu was dead-on when he said 60% of the Nigerian press is owned by less than 6 major crooks in the country. Atiku's direct relationship with ThisDay and TheNews is no longer a secret. Another shocking and sad development is the schemings going on in the Judiciary and legislature right now. The Bar association is riddled with currupt Atiku loyalist. Let's pray for our country, like Ribadu extolled, we're truelly in trouble. |
Any news on TransCorp, was going to buy some, but looks like it's suspended again only a few days after the IPO suspension was lifted, anyone know why? |
He has been a disspointment so far. His predecesor brought a lot more dignity, and respect to that caliphate. This one is way to political and I suspect he will not last. |
This Monster Atiku should go back to the London hospital he has left prematurely. In fact, he might have well have moved there permanently as that's where he belongs. His disqualification is good news for all well meaning Nigerians. He has nothing more to offer our dear country except curruption, graft and manipulation of our minds. |
OBJ does not want Atiku to contest because he is well aware of the man's exploits in the last two elections. Atiku is a master strategist and manipulator. He has a massive war chest and is willing to spend over 1 billion dollars to achieve his aim to be President. Once the cat is out of the bag, it's hard to predict where it'll end up. OBJ cannot take anything for granted, it's best to err on the side of caution. |
You guys should lay off Umaru. If it takes a postrate man to heal Nigeria of it's woes then so be it. As a matter of fact, maybe his plight will help concentrate his mind, focusing on the need to serve the people and leave a befitting legacy, rather than juttling to a Maryland or Paris Mansion with one flimsy excuse after another. We have had many fit and able men at the highest levels of goverment in Nigeria - IBB, Buhari, Atiku, Abacha. Where did they all get us?. Maybe they were so "fit" and "healthy" that they believed in their immortality and indestructability - hence the rush to acquire lush propperties abroad and stash stolen funds away in Switzerland and Maryland for the life of luxury they believed awaited them beyond. Or perhaps for bankrolling their next quest for power and misrule of our people. The article above is is like a few I've seen lately in Nigerian newspapers, many of which are financed by shadowy characters of the likes of Kalu, IBB and Atiku. If it is the wish of Allah that it'll take the selflessness of a "Sick" man to lift us out of our predicament, then so be it. Let us not be carried away by matters outside our control. Afterall, that monster Abacha was with us one day, aparently in good health, and was gone the next. The biggest problem confronting Nigeria today is the selfishness, self-indulgence, greed and cluelessness of our political class, of which IBB and the likes of Atiku personafy. |
Atiku will not win at the polls, even if he contested, however in response to your comment, Who said it's the people that decide who wins elections in Nigeria? Atiku was a major architect of fraud in the last two elections and in goverment, what makes you think he is a reformed being, OBJ knows his legendary manipulative capabilities and would rather not give him a chance, Atiku is willing to expend over 1 Billion Dollars in fighting this election, and in Nigeria, the money factor and the influence it can buy should not be taken for granted at all. He should just go. Nigeria is bigger than his selfish ambition. Even great men with a lot to offer like Nelson Mandela never made governance a life and death matter! Nigeria is bigger than Atiku. He should get that into his fat head when he sets about his selfish and insolent comments of pending anarchy, Who the f**k does he think he is!!!? |
I attended an event recently and an Atiku Surrogate was handing out fliers on his account. This is someone I know who promised me a while ago that major contracts awaits us should Atiku win. These are the type of people that constitutes his following. Atiku attracts the contract-seeking minds in Nigeria. Desperados with nothing to do but chase one leader after another for favour. They then turn around and blame the goverment for the economy as though contracts would develop our nation. The truth is the OBJ and Atiku should leave us alone and dissapear into the abyse. Yar'Adua, from all I have seen is by far the best candidate for our future. Atiku's problem is that he has tasted power as VP (and maybe president as he ran goverment more or less for the first 4 years of this administration) and it's too sweet to leave behind. May the greed of these power hungry and desperate leaders of ours consume them all, and may the pain of the ordinary man in the streets, oppressed and deprived for so long, be multiplied in the lives of our leaders and families. God Forbid. |
The more I learn about Yar'Adua, the more Presidential he seems. His openess, diplomacy and modesty are atributes that are extremely rare amongst our leaders. It would seem his personal travails (healthwise), have instilled many of these selfless qualities in him. He is clearly the frontrunner and will get my vote anyday, On the other hand, whenever I hear / read Atiku and the AC's condescending, manipulative, desperate and petty comments, as a patriotic Nigerian, I can't help but be disgusted. |
Whao, Big_B1, this is the one comment you've ever made that I agree with completely. Men, maybe our views don't differ that drastically afterall. As for our leaders, let them continue to flourish in their mediocrity and ignorance, there'll be a time when neither a presidential jet nor a chattered 747 will be timely or expedient enough to save their lives - ditto General Adisa, Abacha and Chuba Okadigbo. A nation blessed with so much wealth can't boast of a medicalcenter of excelence or anything of excellence for that matter, except, graft, curruption and 419!!. With this attitude of our leaders, it's easy to see why the band of fraudsters in Nigeria are combing local and foreign destinations for their next 'mugu' , Our leaders should note that they can cheat the people sometimes, but the law of karma will someday catch up with them. |
The Niger Delta freedom fighters should stop taking hostages and face the real culprits of their plight - Our leading politicians. They should set up assasination squads to take out the evil beings we have as leaders, !! Let's see whether the likes of Atiku who's real intention is to chop till I drop, will continue to vie for high office!! |
What are we complaining about, we have ourselves to blame for this, afterall, Atiku will return to a large welcoming party at the airport. I lay the blame at the doorsteps of the Nigerian elite. Tomorrow, Thisday newspaper (the paper where the highest bidder rules), Sun (owned by the semi-illitrate Kalu) and a host of the other trash tabloid will sing the praises of the likes of Atiku as though they were the human benefactor. I may be more understanding of Yar'Adua plight, as kidney treatment is a different matter altogether, but to fly out to London to treat knee ligament injury exposes the extreme insensitivity of our leaders. Had he been able to see beyond his selfish and self indulgent self, this would have presented a perfect apportunity to gain political capital by seeking local treatment, perhaps at the General hospital - the people's hospital. But how will that cross the mind of a thieving philander who spends more time in in Maryland Potomac mansion than he does in Nigeria!! Yet people complain that EFCC is being heavy handed. All these men (Atiku, IBB, Abdulsalami, Kalu and 90% of our Senators / governors) need a dose of jungle justice. They need to be locked up forever or shot - DEAD. That's the only action that'll help elevate the minds of our desperately backward people! |
It's easy to see why Nigeria takes one step forward and ten backwards, Orji Kalu has been accussed, charged by a competent body empowered by the Nigerian constitution and acting well within it's powers. The decent thing to do, had this been a civilised country (no apologies!) would be to clear his name, then come out fighting afterwards. This is a country where thieves look you in the eye and tell you that you, the victim, is the thief. This has been my experience with some business transactions in Nigeria, so I'm not surprised at this tactics of deliberate confusion, intimidation, redirection and mis-direction employed by rogues like Kalu, Atiku and Tinubu. |
It's only in a country like Nigeria that wicked subjects like this can be broached, or even contemplated, But I'm not alarmed, as the response to this ill-concieved suggestion shows that the types of Big B1 and his kin are increasingly in the minority and will have little influence on our collective future again. Let them carry their persuations elsewhere. |
Ah, thank God. Yar'Adua is not die, phew, what a relief, ![]() |
Why are we digressing from the main issue, like someone stated previously, Is Yar'Adua die or is not die ? ![]() This whole thing is getting confusing ooo!! ![]() |
In a civilised country, the likes of Atiku would by now be hiding their heads in that hefty babariga of his, pleading for forgiveness from the Nigerian people for his recalcitrance, greed and misdeeds. Instead he gets airtime and fills our newspapers with invectives and one misrepresentation after another. It is only in a country like Nigeria that nonsense like this can happen, and even be celebrated. |
I am filled with joy , and hope, that there are indeed people amongst us who can reason at this level, who can see through the smoke screen that is Atiku, through the politics and manipulation of his extremely convuluted mind Atiku is no mesiah. On the contrary, he is the worst that can happen to our country at this point in time. I'm confident that his ambitions will be brougt to an abrupt end shortly. Inshah Allah. |
Atiku will never become President in this greedy lifetime of his, maybe in his second coming. And for your information, I can tell you authoritatively, that the progressive minds in Nigeria, the military, security establishment will never let that happen. I would rather see Buhari in office than Atiku. I hope his glut, greed and ambition consumes him soon, in Jesus name. Amen. |
Curruption in our judicial system is akin to that in institutions like PHCN and the Police force. This is a game Atiku plays very well and one OBJ is not a natural at. All this noise means nothing, as long as Atiku has no part to play in the future of our country. That's all I pray for. |
we want people who know how best to spend money to better the lives of it's citizens.Better to leave our foreign reserves where it is than embark on another round of frivoulous contract awards for infrastructure development that would never materialise. There has to be a measure of success in the ongoing sectoral reform programme first, or else our hard earned reserves dissapears in the big black hole that is Nigeria. For not embarking on a last minute spending spree for cheap publicity and sticking to this fiscal discipline, OBJ gets my commendation. |
@ Saintchux Corruption is the main issue in Nigeria, so I will go for someone who I know can fight it better than OBJ and the person is BuhariI know that whatever Buhari's islamic and autoritarian tendencies, they can be curtailed in a democratic dispensation. I knew Idiagbon family and respect what he tried to do for the nation as CGS. Idiagbon also had high regard for Buhari so certainly knows something that we done. Or maybe he was just showing the type of loyalty that's lacking in the current No2. In anycase, Buhari still remains my second choice. I admire his support and occassional defence of the EFCC. His Military antecedents also makes a less atractive candidate nontheless. If you can explain all these achievements to my grand dad in the village who can not enjoy electricity 2days in a week, who can not afford a bottle of kerosene to light up his lantern, not to talk of drinking good water. I will be happyCountries like China etc are the fastest growing economies in the world today, but I can assure you you'll find more poverty there than you'd find in most African countries. Whilst there is still a lot to be done and poverty is still aplenty, the point I'm making is that the Nigerian economy and social fabric has been in dire straits for so long, long before OBJ came in. It will take generations to change it for the better. I would prefer a leader who took difficult long term decisions for the betterment of our nation, like OBJ is doing now, rather than one that is desperate to play to the gallery with populist but retrogresive policies. |
Atiku is fast becoming a clear and present danger to our nascent democracy. He is not getting his way, so he'd rather see Nigeria burn. Simple as that. He is a selfish , cunning , desperately greedy , characterless fraud! He certainly has no love for Nigeria. His only interest lies in the inner lining of his oversized pocket. What is wrong with a goverment procuring arms to protect it's vital national assets from criminal elements whilst negotiations continues? It's the duty of any responsible goverment anywhere to provide this protection. It is notworthy though, that criminal elements are cashing in on the Niger Delta debacle and Atiku by his comments, have shown he is no different from the bandits seizing hostages for ransom daily. Is he trying to win support from the Niger Delta militants? The national assembly owes the nation, as a duty, to call this baboon to order. What's at stake superceeds his personal over-ambition. He is probarbly trying to force the goverment into an over reaction to draw sympathy or overheat the polity. Either way, this desperately ambitious man does not bode well for our nation. |
If the war against curruption is the main issue, then Buhari and Yar'Adua are the only credible candidates of the major contenders. My fear with Buhari is his autocratic and extreme islamic leaning. That in my opinion makes him a much less attractive candidate. I believe that Yar'Adua is by far the best option, on balance of qualities. Also, the current reform programme ranks as one of OBJ's main accomplishments. What he has done is lay the foundation for future development. Yes, a lot still needs to be done, yes, the benefits are yet to be felt by a majority, but the decay ran deep and will take more than 10 years to correct, with the support of like-minded people. In 5 - 8 years time, we'll all continue to reap the benefits of these policies, especially with sectoral and micro-economic reforms continuing. If OBJ had been the typical politician looking for cheap publicity, he could easily have raided our $40 billion foreign reserve and flooded the market with food and merchandise, just to get temporary accolade, and in the process syphone 50% of the funds to his and crony accounts and undermine the economy. This is the type of politics you can expect the likes of Atiku and IBB to play. Obasanjo has done a great deal for Nigeria, some of his achievements being - Rapid stock market growth Pension reform Telecoms Bank consolidation Solid Minerals sector reforms. Increased confidence in the economy i.e. FDI No doubt that a lot of sectoral reform is still needed, but we are on track. And credit goes to himand his team for even getting us this far. |
People use words like 'authoritarian' to describe OBJ and in the same breath wish for Buhari. The popular Chinese saying "Be careful what you wish for" comes to mind. A Buhari Presidency will make OBJ look like a saint, a true democrat in the mould of Abraham Lincoln. If Buhari had been Pres for the last 8 years instead of OBJ, the likes of IBB for one would be in jail today. Expect to see an extremely powerfull executive that clashes at will with the legislature. Expect an all out war against the three C's Critism, Curruption and Cronyism. Buhari will be extremely heavy-handed and will shock those alligning with with him today. He has never been a democrate and will never be one. |
In my opinion, Atiku represents a clear and present danger to the survival of Nigerian democracy. And I do not need to be paid to indentify and vilify a thieving manipulator. Newspapers these days are filled with promises by Atiku to 'save democracy'. He, like most of us, know that our democracy is in it's infancy and can do without this desperate, self-interest induced stress. For good measure, he has named his campaign office 'Democracy House'. Who is fooling who. My biggest concern is that many gullible, desperately un-enlighteened souls are falling for this grand manipulation. He will command a lot more respect if he shuts up. He makes the likes of Buhari look like statesmen, and even desirable in contrast. There is too much at stake in the country for the desperate interest of one man, a surbordinate, to overshadow our national consciousness. He is already complaining of rigged elections that hasn't even began!! He will do whatever he can to cause chaos in Nigeria just to achieve his objective. I'll be glad to see both his and OBJ's back. We've had enough of this nonsense. |
Attached is the image of the con man that wants to rule Nigeria, My contempt for this man and his politics of desperation knows no bounds. That he is now playing to the gallery, condeming the same goverment that he, more than most, benefited inmensly from for so long, is an affront to the senses. He typifies the absence of Character, desperation of our political class. The more he speaks, the more looks and sounds like a baboon. If the truth be told, this dunce, like may of our painfully incapable leaders of today, is not even fit to be a local councillor, let alone President!! If we are to make any progress as a nation, we have to do away with dunces, the worst of Nigeria.
