ocelot2006: Bros, leave all that talk. We both know that equipment procurement is an issue. Yes, the military bought 6 new Mi-35Ms, but are those enough? Where are the much needed transport helos like the Mi-17s for the QRFs? Do you want to deny that fact that the soft skinned vehicles and even armoured vehicles like the Otokar Cobra are not underarmed with just Fcking GPMGs while BH hilux trucks have 50cal HMGS mounted on theirs? And back to the armoured vehicles; how many MRAPS do we have In the field? I dare say that the NPF own way more of these vehicles than the army. And what do the army have? A splatter of Bigfoot MRAPS, Otokar Cobra bought during the Niger Delta insurgency, and a bought of old vehicles. I don't even want to talk about combat air support 'cos the air force's performance has been less than satisfactory. Till date, the military (NAF in particular) still can't support and relieve military units stationed in remote areas in the North east or in some cases even special forces teams operating behind enemy lines. No, these teams have to fight with limited ammo till they run out. So how do you expect them to protect all these border hamlets/villages.

Now don't get me wrong, I have absolutely no qualms with the training of our military, and our brave men and women of the armed forces are itching for a good fight and payback. After all, same military successfully brought the raging insurgency in the Niger-Delta to an end. I also know desertion is normal during wars. But guy, moral is currently very low. Every time my friends in the Police MOPOL Squadrons on the usual 6 months rotation to the NE, it Is the very same story: they're outgunned, ammo ' s always low (2 mags only), desertion is on the rise.

Till we accept that all is not well, and try to resolve the problems that plague the military, we'll continue to face these issues.
Coming from a hard core NA fan? now I know it is time to be worried.

CraigD: Am a member of this forum bt i just decided to open another user name in other to conceal my identity and i wl be glad to get some good advice on hw to deal wt ths problem.

I was shocked and almost fainted today wen i saw d result of my HIV test  and since morning i hv nt eaten anytin coz my appetite is gone and am having a terrible headache since then. This is my second HIV test coz d first one i took was in 2004 wen my sister had an accident and needed a blood transfusion and my parents called me to get home immediately to help save her life and i didn't waste anytime to come home for d blood donation. I thank God that she eventually made it bt one thing that struck my mind then was if incase my test shows HIV positive hw am i going to deal wt it since my parents and siblings were aware of d whole thing and my parents thought that am  still a virgin then coz i came frm a strict xtian family upbringing.

I then vow to be careful frm then on bcoz i had unprotected sex wt abt three different girls before  that and i hv seen my con.dom burst in two different occasions wt a LovePeddler i bleep in a brotel bt yet i didn't get d virus, ths happened around d year 2000-2004.
In d year 2006,i met ths girl and we became intimate friends and we later started having protected sex bt after a while i then made another mistake by having unprotected sex wt her and we both loved it since we trust eachother bt we didn't do any HIV test to knw if we are safe. I later went for a job interview and passed and that was in 2007 a year into our relationship and my company demanded for a compulsory HIV test result frm a government hospital. I didn't went for d test immediately because am nt sure of myself bt i knw dat my girlfriend was d only girl i hv bn havin sex wt after my first test and that was my vow,to keep to only one girl.

So,wat came to my mind was to ask her to do d test first because i dnt wnt my company and my parents including my friends to knw first because everyone was happy wen i got d job and i too was very happy for d job. So,she did d test and told me that it was negative and i doubted her telling her dat mine was positive just to get d truth frm her bt she insisted in sticking to her words and even told me that she wld come wt d test result. She later paid me a visit  and i saw d result whch was negative. I ask her to repeat that and she did and it also came negative. Then she started asking me abt my fidelity and i told her dat i dnt hv any other bt i later told her dat its all lies that i didnt do any test and my company didnt request for it again.

I later seperated wt my girlfriend and nw am abt settling down this year wt my new woman bt she demanded for d test and i agree though we hvn't  had sex and since am desperate to marry this year,i told her dat i wl do it whch i did yesterday and came ths morning for d result only to b told that am Hiv positive. My former gf was ok coz she married late last year and living happily wt her husband.

My fears nw is my parents coz we are only two boys remaining since our eldest died wen we are stil young. All my parents hope is on me and d wnt to see their grandchild and d love my fiance so well.

Hw am i going to break ths sad news to them and my beloved fiance? And am i really positive since my former gf is negative and i hv bn making unprotected love wt her since two years plus and neva hv unprotected sex since she left and i only did it once in a month and mostly unpenetrative sex.

I honestly need your advice coz am already dying slowly since i saw d test. Pls bear wt my wrong use of english, i just dnt get myself nw.
Go for the DNA HIV test not the antibody type, you will be negative, it is an error, the last one I did my result came out (positive with sex female), grin grin grin grin, was wondering where the toto dey for my body,
went again for the DNA it came out negative, of course I charged the first hospital for the second test, even though the second was more expensive, they were more than glad to pick the bill and keep quiet about it.

why are you scared of HIV when Ebola is in Nigeria already? with coconut oil, HIV is like ordinary flu, relax, a lot of people are positive, just look for a positive girlfriend to date, and stop fvcking ashawo!! grin grin

On a different note, Bros!! how did you cope with the brothel odour? bros you get mind ooooo

Omooba77: https://m.premiumtimesng.com/news/167037-breaking-lagos-records-5-new-suspected-ebola-cases.html

Five new suspected cases of Ebola Virus Disease were brought to the Yaba Mainland Hospital, Lagos, on Tuesday, the Lagos State government has said.
At a press conference, Wednesday, Jide Idris, the State Commissioner for Health, told journalists that two of those cases were from secondary contacts.
“Till date, we have recorded eight suspected cases, five of which came in yesterday, 12 confirmed,” said Dr. Idris.
“On the whole, five have died (including the index case). We are currently following up 213 contacts, and 62 have completed the two-day follow-up,” he added.
On Tuesday, Stella Adadevoh, the Senior Consultant and Endocrinologist at First Consultant Medical Centre, Obalende, passed away after succumbing to the deadly virus.
Dr. Idris paid tributes to the deceased doctor as well as the other health workers who had died from Ebola virus since the disease broke out in July, describing them as the heroes and heroines of the day.
“She, (Dr. Adadevoh) it was, who took the initiative to intimate the Ministry concerning the index case – Liberian-American (Mr. Patrick Sawyer) and substantially to her credit the moderate containment achieved is owed,” said Dr. Idris.
“She led the team who attended to the index case. Her doggedness and commitment to duty saw her personally reviewing the case even though the patient had earlier been seen by a doctor.
“The Ministry of Health commiserates with their families, co-workers, friends and loved ones on these irreparable losses which was on the line of duty,” he added.
Dr. Idris also said that the government’s “vigorous” contact tracing is now shifting from primary to secondary contacts.
“The mode of spread remains mainly transmission from an infected person in an infective state and from an infected animal (bat, monkey, etc) to a person.
“This is a call for vigilance as human to human transmission is only achieved by physical contact with a person who is acutely and gravely ill (fever being a key sign) from Ebola virus through body fluids such as blood, urine, stool, saliva, breast milk, semen, and vomitus.
Mofo, go and ask your mates in Senegal and ivory coast if they are doing contact tracing, you will allow sawyer get through then start contact tracing, shameless porcupine who deosnt know where efficiency started.
what happened to the 480m budgeted for infectious diseases in the 2013 budget even before this crisis started?
what did you spend the money on that evaded Sawyer at the airport?
why is there no bio hazard suit in Luth and other teaching hospitals?
I have not come to 2014 budget yet, it is unfortunate that Nigerians will rather die like chicken with "RIP" fingers than Ask the right questions,

milehigh06: you are not getting it...if we had a good security system in place,Mr sawyer would not have been able to come into Nigeria and get as far as being able to bring sorrow to the family of this wonderful woman at all because he would have been stopped at the airport if he does not have the necessary medical papers...every country does that when you get to the port of entry, which in most cases is the embassy and in some cases, the airport and border entry ports...go to the Juarez port btw Mexico and USA and you will see people who are crossing legally being asked to provide their medical clearances.....As much as we would all love to blame someone but ourselves for letting this man into Nigeria,we should be honest and think this through..did lack of the necessary checks and balances lead to this tragedy...yes it did, despite whatever wicked intention the man had,it is up to the Nigerian Govt to protect her citizens for if this was a biological warfare,no be this we go dey talk o

assuming the man was on a dastardly mission,he would have succeeded if not for the vigilance of this Heroic lady who was smart and cautious enough to stop the man from spreading the disease any further
Are you really asking people whose hope is on god to be reasonable? till date they are not calling for the sack of the minister because the govt is always right, all these Jonathan supporters will die mysterious deaths, just watch out! people are dying everywhere and nobody will be held accountable, just opening brown teeth to be typing RIP with bacillium leproc fingers.
I will type their RIP very soon,
Imagine where the whole NE states have been run over, nobody is held culpable, even when the soldiers are complaining they can do better save for corruption, till they deserted, once a soldier dies, you see goats typing RIP, the same inefficiency and mismanagement kills everyone

Health › Re: Lessons Nigerians Must Learn From Ebola Virus by jpphilips(m): 2:36pm On Aug 21, 2014
The only sane thing to do was not allowing Sawyer to bring that virus here just like Ghana, Ivory coast and Senegal have done, anything short of that is a reverberation of the failure of Govt and the laxity of the Mofo who parades himself as the Health Minister.
About washing hands, Nigerians will appreciate it better if the Govt stick to its usual propaganda mechanism, same way they exchange words with APC, or the same way they told us that no Nigerian has the Virus at the demise of Sawyer, i believe Nigerians will learn better that way.

If Nigerians like this OP can get inebriated by the fact that her govt is teaching her to "wash hands" by inviting a lethal virus, then sane minds like me should be asking if Nigerians are cursed or we are the cause?

Simba757: Nigeria for the first time became Africa's largest economy and the deadliest strain of ebola appeared in west africa for the first time!
Apart from the cursed Patrick Sawyer another Liberian is reported to have the virus in Lagos.
How these cursed Liberians cross over four countries -Ivory Coast, Ghana, Togo & Benin Rep - to target Nigeria begs for a big explanation no matter their 'means' of travel.
Considering the pathetic ties Liberia has with their former slave masters and the west's obvious fear of a strong black Africa, A GRAND CONSPIRACY may not be far from the truth here.
PEOPLE WE NEED TO WAKE UP!
you think it is a conspiracy huh!, lemme juggle your memory, when SARS came to china shortly after the result of their buoyant economic and population growth, Pundits like you said the same thing, guess what!! an airborne respiratory infection was contained and defeated. let me quickly ask you? was china bothered who brought it upon them? they took the challenge and quelled all threat, no other neighboring Asian country recorded an outbreak except for very few isolated cases.

Are you aware the volume of trade and foreign investments in Guinea, Liberia and sierra Leone? never Mind the fact that you think that the west will hurt an economy like ours which is practically surviving on foreign aid and investments? of course you don't know that part which qualifies you as ignorant!!

How did Sawyer get into the country when the WHO red alert for West Africa on Ebola was released in February 2014? Is it possible that the leadership you voted to power may have been sleeping while Ghana, Ivory coast and ordinary Senegal were all taking precautions? at least till august this year, none of these countries have recorded a single case however close they are to the Epicenter of the virus, conspiracy or not.
You didn't see the Administrative lapse here? you are even worse than I thought, you lack common sense amongst all your numerous frailties.

Still on the case of Sawyer, the doctor restrained Sawyer because she suspected he had Ebola, from that moment, it was expected that Sawyer would have been on quarantine with minimum exposure to people, guess what, first consultant does not have a quarantine facility, is it only made for Ebola? NO, ordinary TB deserves quarantine which happens to be the Killer opportunistic infection for HIV and Aids patients, in Lagos alone, over 3.8 million people are living with HIV, does it not bother you that Ministry of Health a subset of the govt you voted approved a substandard health care facility, that Administrative error is the reason why an NNPC staff who was an out patient at the time sawyer was admitted is struggling with her life,
Your inability to see this error makes you a m0r0n.
In a standard quarantine facility, there should be Bio hazard suits, are you not bothered that the same error above is the reason we cant even get volunteers to assist in the curtail of the Ebola menace?

Does it not bother you that Justina one of the nurses who made contact with sawyer was able to leave the quarantine zone and travel as far as Enugu to infect her boyfriend? my guess is that the quarantine zone has no security or, the patients there practically fend for themselves at least to have a reason to leave, your inability to spot this qualifies you as dumb.
whose responsibility is it to provide security for quarantine zones, America?

This is what people like you do, you go out there and vote a dumb person, when he manifests his buffoonery, you run to either the church seeking the face of your creator (even though he counsels you against making such mistake) OR you put it on America.

Corruption in the army has broken your last line of defense, it wont be long before boko haram goes on a killing spree, who will you blame then? let me guess, Britain!

A man who refuses to fix culpability where it belongs is not worthy to live, calling you a m0r0n is understating the obvious!!

I am very aware the conspiracy opinion you spewed there was yours and you expect it to be respected, however, considering your mental state (ignorant, m0r0nic and brazen loss of common sense), don't you think it is wise for you to Shut the fvck up in public!!

eleojo23: It's quite unfortunate that Africa continues to be plagued by problems. These problems have continued to expose the cracks in our systems. I believe we can learn something from all of these and that is to make our institutions stronger (eg. the health care system), invest in ventures (eg. research and science) that will make us self-reliant and enable us to manage unforseen occurrences such as this in the future. It's about time we wake up to reality. Africa's progress lies solely in the hands of Africans and I do hope we rise up to the challenge by thinking objectively, coming up with and executing strategic plans to tackle the problems that have stared us in the face for so long.
Naaa Africans are not designed to learn from anything, how did Nigeria get Ebola since the outbreak started in Aug 2012?

Neduzze5: This is really shameful. Nigeria and Goodluck Jonathan really has to sit up! Unless we become a laughing stock for the whole world!
Nope it wont play out that way, Before other nations laugh at us, Nigerians will pay with their blood.
The corruption in the army has forced soldiers to desert, do you know what it means? Gwoza police academy has been over run by Boko haram; do you really know what Gwoza means to the security apparatchik of the Mobile police? it simply means that Boko now has the freedom to Operate in Northern Nigeria

It sounds like a joke to most people but if Gwoza is defenseless then Lagos is a walk in the park, it started exactly like this before the Toureg took over the administration of Northern Mali.
It took the intervention of the French and the Chadian forces to drive them away (of course the Nigerian army was conducting stop and search for the real soldiers) doing the real fighting.

Onyebuchi chukwu squandered over 480m for control of infectious diseases from the 2013 budget by July 2014 when Sawyer brought Ebola to Nigeria, there was no single emergency response or protection for the first responding health care workers, guess what, that act of corruption has claimed 5 lives and counting (trust me when I say we have not heard the last from Ebola).

Never mind the lives that are being lost to the inefficiencies and corruption that led to the doctors strike, Never mind the fact that most Nigerians seem not to know what the life of a true professional is worth, that Late doctors life could save countless lives by virtue of her training.
Senegal, Ghana and Ivory coast closest to the epic enter of Ebola are yet to record a single case of Ebola yet, the Inefficiency and the corruption in our health ministry has 179lives on surveillance and 5 dead already.

I tell you what! President Good luck Jonathan Has sworn that he will not address corruption in this country and over 22.5 million people just like in 2011 want him till 2099!

brethren! brace yourself! it is time to pay with your BLOOD!!

I saw a clip on You tube showing BH fighters attacking a Nigerian army base, i dont see the fighters armed with anything the army doesn't have, they had AK 47, some RPG's, pick up trucks mounted with AA guns, what is so sophisticated about those.

These is guerilla war, you dont need too much sophisticated weapons to fight it, ask the Americans how many stealth bombers, tanks, they use to fight the insurgents in Iraq or Afghanistan, and thousands of their soldiers were killed. These is hand to hand combat except the Nigerian govt is ready to bomb the whole north east and kill thousands of civilians.

packer042: Bb for live. Android won kill person for this country
The truth is this most Nigerians dont know how to use an android device.
Except you play around you tube, I dont see why your data shouldn't be enough.
Even the people who made the phone encourage you to use some apps on wifi, but the ave. Nigerian is allergic to instructions let alone keeping to them.

I cant say for froyo but for jellybean and above, it comes with a data meter where you can check who is consuming what.

Those live updates, bbc news app, Cnn, soccer, whether, world clock, Facebook, Twitter have you bothered to ask where the updates are coming from?

You dont need to uninstall them but you can turn off the notification and update off. If you wish to get the news, go to the app, once you are done, it goes back to sleep.

some people complain they sleep and wake with their data gone, there are apps with automatic update on, you must turn it off, even play store apps do update, sometimes you see notifications popping up thats your data going.

Automatic software upgrade too is another culprit.
Has anyone bothered to check what the data consumption of your browser is?
there are browsers that compress data, some don't. You can reduce the picture quality on your browser and still get a good feel of your browsing experience.
look for a browser that compresses data,
Turn off fast dormancy if you are using MTN.

I use wifi most times so I don't bother so much.

You guys should think of how to solve your problems not whining over them.

CHEMICAL TERRORISM
-Patrick Sawyer was under surveillance in Liberia
for Ebola
-Liberian govt said he escaped quarantine and
sneaked into Nigeria
-CCTV footage at Liberian airport showed him
avoiding contact with people and at a point lying
prostrate on the floor looking like he was in deep
pain
-His sister with whom he had contact died of Ebola
that he was aware of
-When he arrived Nigeria he didn't avoid contact
with people rather he allowed airport staff to carry
him
-At the hospital in Lagos he allowed medical
personnel to treat him just as they would any
normal patient
-When asked if he came in contact with an Ebola
victim at the point he started showing symptoms
his answer was negative
-When test confirmed the obvious and he was
confronted with the truth, he reacted in a violent
manner urinating on the medical staff, at least one
of them
-Sawyer who was enroute to Calabar was insistent
on continuing his journey despite his condition
-Liberian govt has apologised to Nigeria for
exporting Ebola to Nigeria
-Nigerian govt has approached US for the ZMAPP
test drug they used on 2 American health workers
who contracted the virus in Sierra Leone
-Obama said its too early to bring the drug to
Africa, that what Africa needs is improved health
facilities, yet with all their improved health facilities
they chose ZMAPP for their own
-A vaccine for Ebola is underway we are told and
will be ready latest July next year
-The vaccine will 1st be administered in Africa, how
generous and selfless they are with the vaccine but
not the curative drug
-Is somebody thinking at all? -Dont forget Sawyer
was a Liberian American with his family resident in
America
-If people in high places could volunteer themselves
as suicide bombers in countries like Afghanistan,
Iraq, Pakistan etc, do you think they can't volunteer
for chemical terrorism suicide mission?
-The conventional terrorism exported to Africa and
heavily funded by them to destabilize our economy
and depopulate us seem no longer enough
-God is watching but we too have to watch our
backs
-Should we trust them with their so called vaccine
when it comes?
-Africa, its time to start thinking, time to start
asking questions
-We have lived with monkeys, chimpanzees,
gorillas, wild animals that have always been part of
our delicacies and never had ebola
-Why now and why always Africa. HIV/AIDS in
Africa 1st likewise ebola?
JUST THINKING ALOUD
One of those loose goats who equate the Nigerian brain with that of a cricket, sorry bro!

HerexG: I know this is a wake up call for us but if we keep fussing that it is our fault the solution won't come, all we and the international community need to do now is to join hands together and fight this wrath outta this world

We have got one world, one life and one love
Is international community your God? join hands with who exactly? fvctards who are so dumb to be taking salt water syrup, OR fvctards who have been warned that what they want to take as a drug is actually a supplement that wont really provide a cure, yet they are eager to have "dog sh!te anyways!!? you want serious people to join hands with goats? what kinda joining hands do you mean?

Ebola has been in Africa since 1976, no African country bothered to look for a cure, in 2003 the United states DOD (God bless America Anyways!!) supported its research with a meager $25m and today they have Zmapp, guess what you have; Begging and ranting on the internet, shameless fvcktards!!,

Is it $25m we cant afford? or a research center that private companies own? what exactly is the problem with Africans and Nigerians?
the money stolen from NNPC in a year is enough to get these things done yet we are here whining over America this, America that.
Look at the clown you have as a health minister, he sounds so confused, looks helpless, talks like a mechanic.

He calls himself a prof of medicine but 3days after sawyer's death he said no Nigerian is with the Virus, how can you know when you have not exceeded the 21days incubation period for the virus? and coming from a prof of Medicine is more pathetic, do I blame him? of course not, instead of the President giving him a query for such unprofessional comment, the confused president was calling late Patrick sawyer names, as if he has a panel to face in resurrection.

Onyebuchi chukwu is a disgrace to Medicine, he told us that all the 8 Ebola quarantine patients are stable and responding to treatment, two days on; Justina the Nurse died, that is the goat you advocate will join hands with serious people?

2013 budget has over 400m naira for control of infectious diseases not even the outbreak of March could make the Minister to wake up, it took a Sawyer to slump in MMA for Onyebuchi Chukwu to wake up from Coma.
Before July, there was neither an Infra red thermometer nor a bio hazard suit in any entry point in this country, yet Nigerians are blaming the United states!!

How about demanding professionalism and accountability from people who pilot the affairs of this nation?
How can the Minister tell Nigerians that he has a "drug" Nano silver for our Ebola patients, you people don't know the kinda mess these guys are making till you become a victim, what stops Chukwu from getting clarification from FDA first before coming to misinform Nigerians? it took the Intervention of the FDA for Chukwu to agree to proceed with the recommendation of his committee, these are the kinda fvcktards we have in power and you expect serious countries to join hands with him?

A f00l who saw the test report of the Doctor and claim she has survived Ebola while WHO is saying she is a false positive, meaning she never had the Ebola virus, thank God for WHO quarantine guide lines, Chukwu would have infected her there, meanwhile, has already set Nigerians on a jubilation frenzy that one of theirs have survived the lethal virus, how worse can this shameless man get?

Lagos state (our Ebola red zone) is yet to receive a dime from the $11m intervention fund, yet, people are still holding America by the jugular

At what point would you realize the need to fix culpability where culpability belongs? America is not your problem, the nonentities ruling you are.

Hello NANO SIlver isnt an EBOLA drug but a dietary supplement that destroys body invaders and boost immune system and effectively fight EBOLA.Even the AMERICAN Department of defense confirms it.
Does it really make it a drug for Ebola? why passing it to the Nigerian Govt as a "drug" when it is actually a supplement that stands a chance to help? It is a shame that the m0r0n we pay as the health minister does not even know the right questions to ask, ie if he is not colluding with the manufacturer to defraud the govt.
If you have a supplement by all means call it what it is, why wait till FDA exposed him to tell us it is a supplement when the fvctard minister has been saying it is a drug.

Ask yourself this question 35% of Ebola victims survive, even without Zmapps. How?
The spanish priest used Zmapp still died.
A lot has to do with the Immune system, You dont cure virus, they die on their own, so far they can multiply.
Please don't misinform people the Spanish priest is in his 70's and he didn't get Zmapp early enough, even the drug manufacturers were skeptical he will make it, age is inversely proportional to one's immunity, the Guinean Ebola survivor in his sixties was termed a "miracle", surviving doesn't have anything to do with the death of the virus, but if one shows symptoms early enough, the replacement of electrolyte and probably blood transfusion will keep your chances high, according to WHO.

GeneralShepherd: The western world hates you and they give you millions of dollars in grant every year, right?

They hate you and practically feel Africa right?

Now I understand why Naija is so messed up, even the Military we are looking up to are equally helpless. If a soldier wielding a riffle can be "chanced" of his pay, then this revolution will never come.

I just re read the second page, he actually said 45 soldiers , with two magazines about 60 rounds of ammunition, died in the hands of 300 insurgents? that calls for very serious concern.
