401kk: Thanks Jarus for bringing this to nairaland.
SLS made some points quite well but I don't agree still.

First of all how will this reduce the cost of printing and managing currency?
each note has a price tag, if it cost for example 100naira to print 500naira note, it will cost 1,000naira to print 5,000naira, in 500naira denomination. but if just 100naira or a little more can print 5,000 naira single note saving 900naira for every 5,000 from 500naira denomination.

cascade to other currency denominations.

No offense to the dead lady but that's just plain dumb.
Exactly my perplex. the facebook twist is pretty irrelevant to the story because they could have met anywhere. bank where the girl is withdrawing or depositing money, school,or even church.

the only puzzle there in, is meeting a stranger the first time in a hotel? it sounds like the girl had other things in mind, little wonder the d!ldo she armed herself with.

i think first business encounters of such nature is more appropriate in an office or family house where my host has something to lose at the very least.

some things don't just add up here. did the girl have s@x at the back of her mind abinitio?

and for peeps that think it has to do with bad parenting, well, most Nairalanders are minors still in secondary school or perhaps university. did you check the age of the lady in question? at 25yrs her mates already have two kids, so what exactly do you expect her parents to be doing? send her back to nursery school?

so many infants on Nairaland, pretty annoying.

He does not even know common geological timescale. Even most people who are not geologist have geological timescale at their finger tip, not to talk about somebody who claims he is one.
your insults are baseless and you don't understand English, the bold part of your post wasn't exactly what he implied, he said it is a "hypothesis",

if you dont know the meaning of hypothesis then don't fault the young man, after all, 8 pages gone and only a few people gave a scientific face to the infantile rantings on Nairaland.

Sealeddeal: Its not government problem not to have fought the militancy or to have granted them amnesty.its just government problem to have created an environment where somethings(violence) of this nature thrives.Nigeria govt failed in developing nigerians and have inadvertently fueled violence in many forms.the big question is,do u think dat govt could have fought and defeated Niger delta militancy by now? Do u think dat the recorded height in oil exploration is not direct implication of reduction of militancy operation in niger delta? Knowing fully dat many of the 21st century insurgency have not been defeated by any nation, why dnt u think dat amnesty granted to niger delta militant was right step?the militancy in niger delta was equally being fueled by foreing country who gave them military support in exchange of oil,so du think dat by now dat nigeria will still be producing oil?this kind of issue existed back then in Los angelis in USA and their Mayor offered them amnesty to drop their gun in exchange of some dollars.but recently,US has been able to put themselves in order and as such, they no longer negotiate for such incidence because they are sure they have provided for their people and have as well sedured their territory.Nigeria will continue to negotiate with criminals until they put their house in order to the extent of guareteeing optimal security to her citizen.Dats equally, the same reason why i am always of the opinion dat govt should negotiate with BH.because if the violence lingers, people will continue to die, money will continue to be wasted in security/property,Econony will continue to decline and those hoping to get may not get one while those who already have but in a crisis ridden region will continue to be threatened to the extent of losing their job.nigeria have not put appropriate security environment to prevent insurgence or tackle violence. So,i support the amnesty given the niger delta militant.
your post sounds reasonable but i will like you to address these fundamental issues;

the reason every Niger deltan supported the militants was on the premise they are fighting for their common interest.
believe me, most of those attacks will be far from successful without the support of the indegenes who believed the Govt ignored them, as such will get back at the Govt through their militia.

ok, is it justified that only less than a microscopic few are benefiting from the environmental degradations and other inherent risks of oil exploration in a whole region? where is equality and social justice? was it not the same antics of the Northerners while still in military Govt that created a financial chasm?
dividing the economy between an extremely wealthy right and extremely poor left? if not for the doggedness of the southerners who decided to do things for themselves void of Govt support, Nigeria as a whole could have been made up of just elitist wealthy and Almajiri poor.

we are talking about paying an individual over $22m monthly at the expense of a whole region, that money is enough to train, fund and equip a standard terrorist organization.

do you know why any issue concerning Jonathan gets Asari talking? from the fuel subsidy port harcourt rally, to the verbose comments on his impeachment? simple, they are building an army and it is only a matter of time before it blows up.
where did ordinary Asari summon the impetus to threaten the whole country on National TV? there is an unseen army/militia behind those statements.

people like jonathan are the next political God fathers of this nation, Nigeria will be at their mercy, very soon, they will form a political party or movement and heavens help us if they loose any election, it will be catastrophic for this nation.

imagine where a dumb skull like joboy is the political brain of Nigeria, which direction do you think Nigeria will be headed?

You should do same also b4 coming to run your tribalistic mouth! The major question should be "do we really need 5K notes?!" What effect is it going to have on an already failing economy?" Personally, I think Sanusi just wants to go down in history as the CBN governor that introduced the 5K note!
i think its about cash handling. The cost of printing Cash in Nigeria is high so the idea is this;

instead of printing 5pcs of 1000 denomination or 25pcs of 200 naira denomination or 10pcs of 500 naira etc, you print just 1pc of 5,000 naira,
that in sanusi's books saves printing cost.

In my opinion, since cashless is very active, do we need to print extra cash? What is the essence of going cashless if inflationary denominations are still kept in circulation?

Why does all financial institutions not have a guideline on various cashless platforms? That breeds discontentment in the policy, near defeating it. For example
GTB with almost 20% market stake will refuse to transfer to other banks while other banks can?

The truth is this; Sanusi is a confused man.

PapaBrowne: Ok so these guys are paid like 50million dollars yearly. How is that a big deal? Or should they go back to the creeks? When they were in the creeks they were earning much more. Nigeria was producing just 700,000 barrels daily. Today we have added 2 million barrels to that. Because these guys are paid 50 million doillars yearly, we are now earning approximately 200 million dollars daily which is 70 billion dollars yearly.
My brother, it is only common sense to pay them. The FG doesn't have the capacity to manage another Niger Delta crises. The country will collapse in a second if that happens again. Trust me, this era is different from 2008. In 2008, we didn't have 18,000 as minimum wage neither did we have the Boko Haram scourge!
Anything to keep them off the creeks is just fine. Trust me that figure is way below the real figures. Over 1 Billion dollars is spent to keep them off the creeks. But it is worth every penny as we can see in our improved oil earnings!

asoderock: My point is that if a marketer is found to hv made fraudulent claims, the federal government is very much in order in trying to recover such claims, and deducting same from such marketers current genuine claims is very much in order. It is also appropriate to bring to book any government official found to have colluded with the marketers in defrauding the nation. If the marketers resorts to influencing NUPENG to go on strike, it is blackmail.
seems you don't understand quickly, who are the marketers? who are the NUPENG members?

From what i explained, most importers are NUPENG members, so nobody is influencing anybody, they are indirectly telling Ngozi that they don't have the money she is looking for.

stop using the phrase "fraudulent claims" that phrase is a deception by the Govt like i told you, you don't wake up from your house and go to the ministry to claim money.

the Govt was paying out that money on purpose because they still go to collect it from the importers. some were not even importers, one then was dealing on building materials can you imagine? it could be anybody, its not like they were just going to claim money, Govt was doling out money to themselves through them.

In sane countries, the best place to start such investigation is to round up the Govt people before the importers.

Believe me, the importers they are scrutinizing are the ones that doesn't have evidence to blackmail the Govt.

The ones with evidence are the ones they are negotiating with because the Govt itself knows that the importers don't have the money.

So if you work in a bank or company and your approval limit is 1million, you dole out 1billion to a supplier just like that?

The bank will arrest you first then your confessions will determine who will be next. The Govt is just doing the opposite to protect its people.

Who signed the bill of ladden? Ghost
who approved the SGD? Ghost
who ticked the check list for metering? Ghosts?
Who approved cargo manifest? Ghost
who raised the payment order? Ghost
who approved the payment order? Ghost.
Who signed off received and acceptance vouchers? Ghost

after protecting their people, then the importer that is doing the s!lly Govt a favor will take the fall.

Nigerian Govt has a way of insulting common sense. It is the Govt people that will tell Ngozi which importer to indict.

Do you know that this money they are asking for was the one since January.
So if the importers did not supply upfront, all the subsidy money will go just like that abi?

So if the importers decided to run away since january, which money will Ngozi be confiscating?
Politics › Re: Nupeng To Start Strike Tomorrow by jpphilips(m):
Reference: The question still remains. Who exactly or what exactly is NUPENG. And what exactly is their role in this petroleum products supply chain.

Because, before you declare war you must be armed and your intel sound. If they are not a party to the massive looting going on there, cabal or no cabal, they should call the names of those involved, government or private sector. I dare them.
Nupeng is a union for petroleum and oil gas workers.

If you work in an oil company as a junior staff, you belong to Nupeng,

if you work as a senior staff, you belong to pengassn.

Some oil importers are Nupeng members

some oil marketers are Nupeng members

some tank farm owners

some refil stations owners

and even some tanker owners.

The people the Govt was referring to as cabal are the major importers, but the truth is that the Govt used them to steal money,

for you to be entitled to oil subsidy, you will register as an oil importer and meet some strident criteria before you can import and store in large quantities.

During obasanjo's era, people that had that capacity were very few, so they import and claim subsidy no problem.

When jonathan became acting president, they approached some of those major importers to do runs with them but some refused while some agreed,

if you noticed in that list that was published, not all major importers were indicted, for those that agreed,

the Govt will ask you to quote any sum of money and present your papers, once you do that, they pay the marketer without even checking anything, then go back to the marketers to collect 70% of the money.

At the peak of the elections , the Govt had to bring in more people to join in the racket, mostly companies that does not qualify for such esp in storage capacity.

So they wll use your company, you present papers, Govt will sign off money to you, come back and collect 70% of that money and leave you with 30.

When the fraud was noticed, the Govt people now pretended that they didnt know what was going on and put the blame on the importers.

The importers were now rebranded as the 'cabal' that stole from the Govt when in reality, they used their compainies to work for the Govt.

The Govt now made them a deal, since the subsidy is now an open secret, we will remove it, if that happens the masses will now be paying all those monies they steal.

Just look at the racket as petroleum tax that is not accounted for.

If they remove subsidy, you pay higher at the pump, and part of that money will go back as bribe to the Govt, if you refuse, they will blacklist your company and use you as a scape goat.
That is how they intend to use our money to grow fat.

Another thing is this, when the Govt wants to steal big money, they go for foreign loans, one of the criteria to be getting such loans is removal of subsidies, so its a win win for the Govt.

In january they removed subsidy in part, claiming they want to free up money, before june they have collected loans to the tune of Over 8billion dollars.

If they told us the truth, we should be having savings not borrowing money, so the removal was serving two purposes;

1 to guarantee choppings from foreign loans

2 to maintain choppings with importers, just that the money to loot in this case is your money.

Poor Nigerians!!!

Subsidy removal is not and will never be in the interest of the masses, what the Govt is selling to you about painful surgeries bla bla bla are total craps.

If you think otherwise, ask yourself, what is the gain of subsidy removed from diesel 4yrs ago?

Ask yourself; is the govt really honest to say total withdrawal of subsidy will crash the economy yet we have survived partial removal for 8months?

Ask yourself what positive impact has the partial deregulation had in your life?

If we have freed up money within this 8months of partial subsidy, why is our debt profile on the increase? Even when marketers are not paid? Our debt profile is 46billion usd as we speak, how does it translate to saving money?

Wisdom is not rocket science the problems and solutions are Naked before us,

jonathan's administration has come to steal, to kill and to devore the masses.

The corruption in this administration is worse than soddom and Gommorah.

Be wise, think and ask yourself pertinent questions,

do you know that importers are praying for subsidy to be removed? Ask anyone you know. If so, why is the Govt acusing them of being the cabal?

Do you know that with subsidy, an importer has to go on strike before Govt pays him whereas without subsidy, he adds it on the product and you pay him cash at the pump? Which do you think they prefer?

We have a govt that is very economical with the truth.

@ last page

what you wrote is pretty long but there are lots you don't understand about the situation at hand.

You really dont understand when "people say there is NO SUBSIDY"?
Let me take it slowly and in simple parlance:

1.) If it cost say #30 to produce a litre of PMS locally and when we factor-in transportation and storage, everything lands at #50 at the pump. (Total Real Cost). If l then pay #50 for that litre of PMS, l am not enjoying any "subsidy" but lf l pay say #40, l am enjoying a #10 subsidy.

Now, in Nigerians case currently, what we pay at the pumps is TRIPLE the "real cost" of the PMS, when produced locally.
lemme help you here, using your example, even if you refine it locally, you will still pay almost double and that Refinery you are using will fold up in 5yrs because it will not make profit.

What happens is that some group of "powerful and influential Nigerians" (read: CABAL) got together and formulated a plan whereby our Refineries are destroyed out-rightly or made to produce below "half capacity" and because they have "members in the ruling government, at all times", they ensure the nation never builds New Refineries!

The import of these is to create ARTIFICIAL SCARCITY, so as to pump-up price (Demand and Supply laws).

To give us the illusion that we are been subsidized,
those people don't exist, the govt is trying to make you believe there is a third person but its just we and the Govt.
the Govt are those people you are referring to. it is not an illusion that we are subsidized, we are for real, but we are not supposed to be subsidized this is how it works;

the importers bring in the product at over 120 for example, the Govt didn't provide adequate discharge facilities (rem. ATLAS COVE was bombed)so the ships berth for a long period incurring deumurrage for the importers, it is not their fault but inefficiency of the Govt so they add say 3naira extra.

they pay administrative charges of another say 5naira, not their problem but Govt's, the Govt doesn't have storage facilities for the products so they hire tank farms thereby incurring storage charges of about another 5naira per liter.

Govt does not have pipelines for distribution to depots, so the importers rely on trucks which incurs transportation of say 3naira per liter.

govt has few distribution outlets so they hire franchise of about 1 naira to distribute.

if you look carefully, the Govt's inefficiencies has increased the import cost by almost 30%. the same Govt tells them to sell then at 65naira,

so the govt refunds import cost + inefficiency charges that is above 65naira. that is the subsidy.

now, if the Govt should be responsible enough to remove its inefficiencies, you will realize that the subsidy money will be a lot smaller than what we have now, but of course you know that people in Govt have interest in those inefficiencies, they will rather pay higher than fix them.

that was the first thing they should have done if they really wanted to save cost.

*these Cabal members then set-up PRIVATE Refineries nearby, around the West African sub-region (Guinea, Angola, Ghana, Liberia, e.t.c), after looting our treasury

*They then bunker (steal) our crude oil and refine it at their own "private Refineries".

*These refined crude is now "labelled" IMPORTED PETROL and MUST be sold at "International price" (as against "Real total cost" at "local" production price).

*The same members of these Cabal in government now earmark billions of naira as "SUBSIDY FUND" to be paid to these their "conniving friends" (since they have shares in all these off-shore refineries and help them to STEAL our crude (they dont pay "international price" nor even "local price" for the crude), being refined for us!)

*To compound matters, some of these "subsidy thieves" actually siphon locally produced PMS (from our local refineries working at below capacity), load it unto their ships, set sail for the "seas" and do a U-Turn just off the coast and voila! That PMS starts enjoying "Bonus Subsidy", its now imported PMS!
Again those people don't exist, it is the same Govt that runs the whole show,

we are aware some Nigerians have refineries abroad, the NT African pride scandal was equally a pointer that some "strong men" bunker crude in large amounts to sell abroad, but i will not allude it to the total source of imported petroleum products in the country.

In my opinion i believe its just a one arm deal, but i doubt if all our import demands can be satisfied by just that fraudulent channel.

also if you study the vessel's dispatch booklets, nationality of the vessel crew and other documents, you will find out that most of them come from Holland, middle east or some other destination any marketer feels he will get a good deal.

the local refining is a little bit more complex than what you wrote, like i said abinitio, our refineries will collapse in less than 5yrs if they refine locally, lemme explain.

the 2.2m bbls of crude you wrote as our production is actually a little above 2.5mbbls/day targeting 2.7mbbls/day by end of this year.

this oil is not solely owned by Nigeria, Nigeria pays royalties to white men who help them to extract the oil, to the tune of 40% of the total production.
which leaves Nigeria with about 1.5mbbls/day.

Nigeria has an annual budget whose 80% funding comes from this money, every year, the Govt pegs a benchmark on crude price to implement its budget.

for several years, we are saddled with poor budget implementation because the money is not always enough, issues like fall in international crude price, corruption of public officials, militancy, bunkery and other vices in the oil and gas industry plays a major role.

now assuming we have 5 refineries for example, where will you get the crude to refine? will you source it from your roughly 1.5mbbls? if you do, how do you implement your budget?

this is the cross road where the Govt finds itself, but instead of finding a solution to the real problem, they are busy deceiving Nigerians about cabals, subsidy et al when they know that those are not the real issues.

before 2008, we used to have a DSO which was about 250,000bbls from the 1.5m we set aside for local refining but that is not possible again because then, the crude prices were fairly steady and high, corruption was less, population was less, and budget benchmark was lower.

today, we sell everything to make money to implement budget.

you may ask, why don't we sell to our refineries to make the same money, but the truth is that crude in Nigeria is expensive because of royalty and the fact that it is sold at international crude price. (rem. that the crude benchmark for 2011 is 70usd per barrel, anything lower will mean a budget deficit)

if you then sell it to the refineries at international crude price, then, the cost of refining, plus the cost of crude, plus labor. will give you an incredible pump price that will be worse than subsidy removal. that is why Govt doesn't bother much fixing refineries because they know that even the refineries attract subsidies directly or indirectly.

In summary, the "subsidy" is just a 419 scam between Government officials (Read: "Executive Politicians", NNPC staff) and a few Private Oil company owners (Read: Oando, MRS, and the rest of them) to steal the nation blind.

Now, the government says it does not want to pay "Subsidy" anymore but the "man on the street" says l have never enjoyed any subsidy, ab initio.

The government says "you must buy fuel at #200/litre, if l remove subsidy" but "the man on the street" says "That extra amount you pay-out as subsidy, was not paid to "reduce the price of PMS on my behalf, you only paid it to yourself and your friends". You are just looting us dry in a "very sophisticated scam" you set-up.

Government says "if l remove subsidy and save the x-amount", l will use the money to build more Refineries.
But the "man on the street" says since your "subsidy scam" is all premised on the fact that our own local refineries are rendered obsolete and new ones not built (when was the last Refinery built in Nigeria?), you're just trying to create another scam since you dont need to raise the price of PMS by 500%, to build a new Refinery!
just building a refinery without source of locally produced crude is not an option either like i explained above

We sell crude oil at the international market, to other nations and we have been doing so at a production rate of 2.2 million barrels per day (averagely) for donkey years; take out of that proceeds and commence the building of at least three refineries. If you had done that, there wont be much left for you to loot, will there?

Any company that wants to "sell PMS" should source for money and build its own Refinery (it does not have to be a very big one) and let it buy crude oil "locally in Nigeria", refine it "locally in Nigeria" and SELL SAME AT "LOCAL PRICE TO NIGERIANS". End of story. Alternatively, let the government build more refineries, if they are not part and parcel of these scam.

You cant say you're a "Petroleum marketer" (like Otedola) and steal our crude, refine it at OBJ's Refinery off W/African coast and then bring it here to sell and still collect "subsidy" or even out-rightly just be collecting subsidy even when no PMS was imported! (that one is another story!).

By "removing a non-existent SUBSIDY" (from the view point of the end-buyer), Jonathan is simply transferring the source/burden of payment (of that phantom subsidy) from Government coffers, to the end-buyer, the common man. THE SCAM IS STILL INTACT!
.....but the "man on the street is being suffocated to death....this is where most commentators "miss the point". (or pretend to miss it anyway!)

If Jonathan wants to do "the right thing" he should have commenced the building of Refineries (set a target of 3yrs for example) and when built and running, SIMPLY ENSURE THAT PETROL SELLS AT THE "REAL LOCAL COST" OF PRODUCTION. of course, that would be at about #40/litre maximum.......but he is a beneficiary of the "scam", so how can he do the obvious?

As for NUPENG, they are just "shouting for their own slice of the scam"!
Remember what Adams Oshiomole did during OBJ's regime? He was then, the NLC President (the father umbrerra grin of all Unions, including NUPENG!).

Having collected his own share of the loot, (that reminds me of Reuben Abatti too!), he invested it wisely and today, his "investments" are yielding fruit, as a STATE GOVERNOR! So, you think the current NUPENG leaders are not as smart as Oshiomole?

Siddon there dey look, train don pass you finish!

Lastpage!
well, i think the way forward is this;

we don't need to just build refineries, we need to sanitize NNPC and make NPDC useful, the petroleum minister should allocate oil blocks to NPDC, that way, they will explore and start producing their own oil locally.

since the cost of extracting crude is fairly cheaper in Nigeria, NPDC should put up this crude for sale (not at international price) to local and foreign enterprenuers, that crude is what will attract investors to build refineries.

the Govt may not likely own the refineries if they don't want to.

only blood will make our leaders to do the right thing

Before u start “the accused is guilty until court proves otherwise mantra,“ I would have u knw that there is overwhelming evidence including the British based “Loyd Maritime Intelligence“(that keep register of ship movement around the world) which shows that, many of the ships(Mother vessels) Marketer's claimed to had loaded pms from, were either already “scraped“ or thousands of miles away from Nigerian waters, at the time they claimed the loaded from the ships in the gulf of guinea. Many insiders will easily let u know that these things were very rampant. In the face of all these, would you rather the government simply forget about these huge fraud perpetrated by some of these marketers and go ahead to to pay their current claims completely?
You are just repeating the crap the Govt started selling since January. you are making it sound like you can just wake up and tell the Govt you have built a teaching Hospital Give me money and it will be given to you just like that?

you sound like the Govt treasury is one Aboki kiosk where any bingo can go grab a pop corn?

how can Govt Give you money on a fake vessel that never berth? is it possible?

ok, if its possible show me the office where i will go and tell them i just supplied 200 cars so they will just give me money.

the fraud was not committed by marketers but people in govt don't you get? the marketers was a mere conduit through which the fraud was committed.

what you wrote above is practically impossible if you don't have highly placed people in Govt as conspirators. so it is not the marketers problem, Give them their money then go sort your corruption out with your people, its dat simple.

fake vessels indeed!!!!

ok, go to ministry of finance just tell them you just completed a stadium in Afikpo so they will just give you money, after all, if Govt can pay for fake vessels why not fake stadium?

the govt is just insulting our intelligence, what they are accusing the marketers of is something that is practically impossible and that is why the marketers are not even talking to them.

after publishing names you went to negotiate with them, when it failed, you seize their money, they happily went on strike because

"MARKETERS ARE NOT THE PROBLEM", "GOVT IS THE CABAL"

Politics › Re: Nupeng To Start Strike Tomorrow by jpphilips(m):
Reference: grin Said it in January that no one will come out of this looking peachy but Nairaland teletubbies won't have any of it.

But am really confused here who really is the masquerade called NUPENG that was seen dancing back then, the high priest, the town crier, that man who has the largest yam barn or Igwe himself. This drama is getting blurred by the minute.

Who or what is NUPENG, what do they do or what have they done in this caper.
wish i knew what you wrote in bold.

believe it this Govt is the biggest fraud in the history of this Nation, they lie professionally that you may be confused if you don't know ur salt.

first and foremost; there is nothing like cabal. it is just a distraction to make people think that there are three parties involved. ie masses, cabal and Government while in reality it is solely masses vs Govt.

if you noticed above, everyone is shouting cabal, cabal cabal, that is what the Govt wants you to be saying to justify total removal of subsidy.
the Govt has lied so much that it is crystal clear that the Govt had no business touching that subsidy rather, strengthening its administrative protocols.

the NUPENG story is what most Nigerians don't know, if there was a cabal in the first place then who is NUPENG?
are the NUPENG members the same cabal? are you fighting the cabal? if so, in what capacity?

you will find out that from january till date, nothing adds up in the lies this administration has been selling. why will NUPENG be demanding for subsidy if the Govt is honest?

when subsidy was removed within that week, do you know that it was the NUPENG members that was the hardest hit? do you know that it is the dream of every NUPENG member to be lifting products from the refineries and Govt depots?

someone stup.!dly inferred that NUPENG is anti masses because they don't know that NUPENG members are Nigerians like you.

during the subsidy brouhaha, it is common practice for marketers (NUPENG) members to pay upfront for products. if you paid 50m for products in dec 2011, and subsidy was withdrawn january 2012, the market price for the products will tripple in price and that was a heavy loss for marketers.

remember that the Govt lied that if they remove subsidy, they will cut off the corruption life wire of the cabals thereby saving money. that was all B.S because in reality, it doesn't work that way.

the importers will tripple their price for the marketers and the marketers will in turn pass it on to you the consumers, there is no winner here. but the lies from the FG will make it seem like a winner.

all NUPENG is asking is this; pay them the subsidy accrued to products that they have paid upfront to FG who insanely removed subsidy because with or without subsidy marketers and importers have absolutely nothing to loose. it is we Nigerians that will suffer.

do you know any of these marketers and importers? are they poor people? are they not richer than they were last year? do you still believe the crap that govt said he is squeezing them?

if you remove your stup!d subsidy (which marketers don't even want, save for the old ones they are being owed) they will simply pass the buck to you and make triple their profit.

stop listening to the Govt, think on your own.

i saw one ignoramus that mentioned refinery, i felt sorry for him, did your s.!.lly Govt tell you that more subsidies are paid on refined products than imported ones? did anybody ask why? do you think subsidy is the problem? do you think cabal exist? or do you think refinery is the problem?

it is the Govt's incompetence that is the problem. the Govt is calling importers subsidy thieves abi? very interesting to Nairalanders but in reality it was the Govt that fraudulently gave them the money and collected their own share, or you think oil importers are signatories in the ministry of finance? think again!!

when Ngozi uses the word "blackmail" what do you think she was referring to? the marketers are threatening to expose their conspirators in Govt that ate more money than them, that is the black mail. now, who is the cabal? Govt conspirators or importers that was a mere conduit through which the fraud was committed?

i tell you what, you guys are happy the Govt is publishing names of companies as subsidy thieves, what about their collaborators in the ministry of finance, NNPC, and PPRA?

the Govt is just deceiving you guys, the real oil thieves are the people in Govt that released such huge sum without verification and collecting it back from the marketers.

the situation now is simple, NUPENG wants Ngozi to pay them their money,Drafts paid upfront to the Govt to supply Kerosene since last year is still pending, no supply no refund of money. Ngozi said she will verify payments and 8months on, people with families have millions tied down, mostly bank loans with accruing interests? and you think their strike is not justified?

where will they get the money to continue importing? which bank will give you a facility when you have not honored the first?

why is it taking Ngozi 8 months for paper work? what else is incompetence? imagine if you are given a task in the office and it takes you over 8months to accomplish, wont you be fired?

why is Ngozi negotiating with the subsidy thieves they apparently wanted to crucify like we read the other day? the answer is because the word "cabal" does not exist but Nigerians are too dull to read between the lines.
Ngozi just wanted them to release a little of the money to satisfy the masses while their conspirators in Govt goes home, and NUPENG members are saying "NO".

no negotiations, pay back and go tell Nigerians the truth that the Govt is the cabal not the other way round.

Ngozi now deliberately withheld their money shouting "blackmail" blackmail" blackmail" can anyone ask Ngozi the grounds for the blackmail?

why will the marketers use their money to please the masses while the "cabal" in Govt goes home to drink champagne? more so, the cabal in Govt ate more than the marketers. Ngozi wan use their brain rubbish!!!!

Countryman93: Well Nigerians deserve every bit of the hardship and even more since we have decided that we should not move forward as a people. Like it or not this subsidy removal remains the easiest way of ending this kind of unwarranted strangulation by a click of people. I lost my voice preaching to my brothers and sisters to see the light and handwriting on the wall during the occupy Nigeria madness in January when the masses were used to frustrate and derail a timely opportunity to put Nigeria on a hybrid of transformation. I was nearly lynched by my fellow country men and women.

Not too long Nigerians will awaken to the painstaking realities of building a new Nigeria which can only be birthed by our collective sacrifice and solidarity with good but difficult policies. All over the world no govt is trusted but other people give their govts blind trust allowing them to run their programs and ideas then oppose them when it is not yielding results! But nigerians want a policy that will yield fruits the next day! Even the Israelites had to trek to the promised land. Untill Nigerians learn to give govt a chance we will be in perpetual strangulation of the evil and greedy establishments!

This is not Nupeng but the evil and greedy establishments who have vowed to remain a residuary of power and resources in this country! May God minister to Nigerians to use their strength well! Instead of being deceived easily to keep occupying and blocking their future!
obviously, the peeps you were trying to confuse convince knew better. where are the Govt agents should be the question on your lips? you seriously think this is about NUPENG?

lol at the ignorance of my country people

You are amusing me so much?

Nigerians are really so gullible. So you think that the problem is that government did not build refineries?

Bros, we have refineries but the the people that work there, are working hard to make sure that the refineries are not producing. Now bros, do you know who work there? NUPENG

Do you know how much government invested in NITEL? Do you know who ran it down? NLC and TUC members who work there.
Do you know how much government pump into PHCN? Do you know who make sure that PHCN under perform? PHCN workers of course.

Do you know why Jonathan want to make sure PHCN goes into private sector? Do you know why PHCN workers are against the idea?

Hahahaha.

Bros, there is more to it than what you think.
Any serious minded person will mistake you for NKEM OWOH or BILL COSBY.

warrior01: I've said it and i'll continue to say it; the hypocrisy of the so called civil society groups, Nlc and the so called opposition parties is second to none. Gullible Nigerians were deceived in January with the so called 'occupy nigeria' and events today have shown the world who they really are and whose interest they are serving. Even here on nairaland, I bet you'll not see the any comment condemning this treasonable act from the anti-GEJ goons. Thank God sincere Nigerians now knows the camp that have the interest of this country at heart.

who told you there is a black mail? must you believe whatever this incompetent administration throws at you? cant you take a deep breath and think?

how can a responsible Govt tie down trillions from independent marketers mostly bank loans with multiplying interest rates because its going through a verification process?

do you ever think? have you done business in your life? last year they said its cabal, now its blackmail, when will you wake up to the reality that your Govt is rogue, when?

how long does it take to verify a payment process? all the Govt employees in the ministry of finance, what are they doing? you are a kid

bittyend: Nigeria is stupid country where everything works backwards!!

Your unsung heroes are the low ranking people in the Armed forces and the Police force - who risk their lives to protect you guys, despite being underpaid, but you won't worship them.

Yet you worship thieving bastards in high places who have looted your national wealth, for their own greedy exuberant lifestyles.

A country psychos!!
yes because the police gave them the security to loot with impunity, also citizens can not target the political elites when they misbehave cos they are under police protection.
believe me, if the police will let the masses beat the living crap off the politicians, then the police will get the respect they deserve.

i don't have problems with the Nigerian police but i hate the fact that they protect politicians.it makes them complicit with the political class.

Recently, Mubarak ordered his American trained military to channel their barrels to the masses demonstrating at tahir square, the military refused. some defected, some went with their tanks but didn't fire a shot,
eventually Mubarak had to hire thugs to come do that dirty job for him. do you see the difference?

the power was eventually wrestled from the politicians and given to the provisional military council. the Armed forces were neutral.

after everything james ibori did to deltans, he was still under police protection why? why has the police not realized that the corruption of the ruling class affects them too. are they not buying pms at 97naira against 65 naira?

are they not dying like any of us in dilapidated hospitals? are they not victims of road accidents?

this mentality of police protecting rogue politicians is my only problem with them, others are pretty secondary with good leadership including "egunje" aka "roger"

can you tell us who gave the final approval for all these companies to be registered and to what end?

do you know that there was an embargo to the registration of such companies during the OBJ era?
why was there an embargo?

why did someone chose to remove the embargo to welcome unscrupulous institutions that committed the biggest fraud in Nigeria's history? does it mean we were not using fuel during the Embargo?

do you know the criteria for oil lifting in Nigeria?

do you know how many of those companies you mentioned above that meets such criteria?

why was 70% of those companies licensed less than 1yr to the elections?

if you can answer the above questions then you will understand where Gbawe is coming from, any attempt to defend what you don't understand will give you a brown teeth on the day of reckoning.
