Lol. He was being sarcastic. Remember how people claimed Sanusi was after him, which was the 'reason' he was ousted, e.t.c.

If Akingbola, Ibru & co were not booted out at that time, i'm almost sure these banks would have outrightly collapsed and several depositors (who were calling for Sanusi's head) will probably still be crying to the NDIC for help, whilst blaming the CBN for failing to rescue them before the rogue MDs ran the bank aground.
And where is the money after Sanusi's gra gra? because the last time i checked, investors are still losing money from share value and dividends

guy calm down, FBN is not the only bank in Nigeria and they operate at competitive rate, i am still having the feeling that it is a mistake hoping i will hear from my account officer soon, who happens to be a friend. i am not complainig yet, when i do,

first bank will recall the article i wrote about intercontinental in the dailies, i doubt if inter will recover from that shocker anytime soon, perhaps now that they have changed their name.

though i hate the idea of charging "VAT on COT" i believe that should be a matter for another day.

i am not against bank charges but don't touch my money fraudulently, is it too much to ask?

anyways before you start an argument, that post has nothing to do with GTB, it was for someone that asked me to show him proof where FBN miscued.

flexya: Come 2 think of it, this thing of VAT is double taxation cos after witdrawin the money, I head for a shop 2 buy groceries. On the receipt, there are also deductions for VAT. I think this calls for a legal challenge and declaration from the Supreme court.

By the way JP Phillips, those charges are just way out of proportion. Is it a corporate account? I just left UBA 2 join FCMB a month ago. Sadly, I av lost over N9k in charges within a month 2 FCMB, despite witdrawin only N500k. Imagine N2K+ for a cheque book? Am leavin them today and headin for GTB. Wit all these comments, I am thinkin of Diamond. Firstbank is always tooo tooo busy for a man wit little time/patience like me
that prompted my advise above, wot we have are all wonder banks, but no matter what, GTB remains the lesser evil,
that was a personal current account Notification from first bank.
Business › Re: GtBank: Funds Transfer From Savings Accounts Suspended by jpphilips(m): 12:05pm On Aug 01, 2012
@ all

what i will advise is for one to be careful leaving GTB completely because the ones out there have no guarantees, you may wish to sequestrate some packages that doesn't suit you while you use other banks to compliment for those.

my current account with first bank has become blood money for them, all they need is a heading to make deductions, i wont be surprised if they charge me "matching ground" in their banking hall.

onatisi: so everytime he has to travel to represnt nigeria and some stupid aboki decides to blow himself up he must stay back?do u realise that nigeria is bigger than boko haram?if some stupids morons all in the name of religion believe that blowing themselves part is the best way to show their grieviances than let them blow themselves,or can gej stop a suicide bomber from killing himself?ok tell me if he stays back what do u want him to do?u want him to go on tv nd make an address or to go to the bomb site and conduct investigtions?as much as i dont support or like him much i dont blame him harshly or rashly ,he was invited by the tt president and they are not inviting him they are inviting nigeria to a very dear occasion to them which shows how important nigeria is to them
staying back to mourn boko victims every time is making boko haram popular and relevant, as much as i don't like Jonathan but hey!! boko can blow themselves apart for all i care, a time will come when a bomb goes off and in the next 30mins people will be going about their normal businesses by that time, boko haram will lose relevance.

they will advise themselves to leave. the mentality of Nigerians and Arabs in the middle east and even Africa is entirely different, in two years time, boko haram will be a thing of fun where people will be using bombs to settle their differences, at that time, boko will lose relevance completely.

personally, i don't see boko as a national threat so long as they remain in the North, conversely, i have not seen anything special being done in the south security wise that deters them striking. but since it remains in the North, jonathan can face his other goofs.

Christians down south are themselves victims of kidnapping as much as northern collateral damages, everyone should please accept your faith and let Jonathan flex, after all he didn't collect 22.5million votes at gun point.

HNosegbe: Why do you keep comparing the Mali campaign with Liberia? Do you think the circumstances surrounding both wars are the same? The clear objective here is proactive action to forestall a terrorist insurgency from completely engulfing West Africa. It is completely different from the wars in Liberia and Sierra Leone, which were primarily driven by greed for diamonds and other mineral resources.

Again, I support this move. Let's be proactive for once.
you talk like a child, i needed you to tell me how many drones and effective surveillance and other military hardware Nigeria has acquired and you are here telling me the cause of war.
war fare is war fare, the Liberian and Mali scenarios are same because it is a guerrilla kind of war fare where your enemies are not in an open field, they are mostly hidden amongst people.

the Liberian situation was almost same though there were areas that were RUF and west side strong holds but they still had machineries in civilian population.

i now ask, what has Nigeria done differently military wise to go face Islamic insurgents head on in mali since the Liberian disaster? or you think that Giving your soldiers AKs is what they need to tackle the haramists head on?

guy dis discussion pass you look for your mate.

Johndoe100: What are all these figures? That we spend more than white people on our governments? We already know that, so what? In Nigeria every politician has a to settle his people. Politics in Nigeria has always been like that. If you were in Nigeria you would see them buying "empowerment equipment" for their constituents and giving them away free. 50 motor bikes , 60 sewing machines etc. they do this often as well as the other daily settlement that they have to do. Like it or hate it, it is how WE OPERATE.

HNosegbe: Again if you cannot make a simple point without resorting to abusive words, it only demonstrates your immaturity.

If you think the Nigerian government should fold its arms and allow terrorist insurgents take control of a country so close to our borders rather than pre-emptively moving to nip the threat in the bud, then you know nothing about proactive leadership. The country is better served with people like you continuing your meaningless rants on online forums.

End of.
please prove that you are not brain dead by using one simple fact to talk not some wish wash. you acknowledged the failure of the Liberia campaign and i ask?

the question from the bold is; do you have what it takes to "pre-emptively move to nip the threat in the bud?" do you?
America is doing it doesnt mean Nigeria can?
America is doing it with the best patriotic and military hardware that only imaginations can phanthom, do you have it? when the patriotism of your military was to impregnate 650,000 Liberian women and their AK 47 hard ware?

America is spending 12bn usd monthly to do that as well in iraq alone, where will you get that kinda money? or you want us to fight insurgents with "luck" that has failed severally in kano?

what has jona done differently this time to avoid the liberian failure?

At the same time, we need to keep fighting the battle to ensure those outside do not move even closer to our bothers while we are busy reshuffling leaders, etc.

HNosegbe: It smacks of immaturity on your part if you cannot make your point without resorting to abuse and name-calling. What do u mean by "brain dead as usual"? What part of my post did you not understand? I made it quite clear that terrorist groups tend to work IN CONCERT, and striking at one of them is a good way to weaken the rest, BH inclusive. It makes sense to proactively intervene in Mali so as to, among other things, block the supply of arms, bombs and personnel down south.

For all the references to Liberia and Sierra Leone, they were foreign policy failures by past governments. It doesn't automatically mean that this government will fail as well.

And for the record, I am NOT a fan of Jonathan.
a brain that does not process information constructively is dead in my books so please, forgive me if yours is dead as well.

where did you get the info on arms from Mali moving into Nigeria? or the border securities excuses for sleeping at their check points? i am glad you agreed that the mission and resources commited to the Liberian cause was a failure, what have we done differently this time around to avert such failure?
abi failure na our destiny?

now you understand why your brain is dead, no pun intended.

uzoma123: Why is it dat issue abt govt policy attract uninformed comments frm useless opposition parties nd ppl? Dnt u ppl knw dat BH has base in Countries like Mali. D govt is trying 2 deal with external wing of BH. These opposition fools shld get demselves updated abt governance b4 running to d press.
perhaps you should take a while to understand the opposition better.

Upon the 900bn budgeted for the military which half is assumed to have been spent,Jonathan could not publish a simple proof that BH has Malian tentacles, all we base our actions are mere anecdotes not facts.

there are countries far bigger than Nigeria in military might that have been benefiting from the malian state before Jonathan grew p.u.b.ic. hairs, why is Nigeria in a hurry?

we are aware America is in Afghanistan to match alquaeda head on, do we have what it takes to match those Islamic extremists head on? do you have the least idea what America is using to tackle alqueda?
our soldiers are human beings and thinking you can take war to the enemy territory with petty AKs is a wishful thinking.

Nigeria is simply not capable for international counter terrorism for the following reasons.

1 we don't have the sophisticated apparatchik to venture into such quest, America deploys one strategic combat ready drone, and surveillance with loads of F15s in almost all provinces of iraq and afghanistan, any thing short of this is putting the lives of the soldiers at a great risk. and the result from Liberia has attested to the doggedness of gorilla war fare

i believe a lot of you do not know how many soldiers Abacha buried during the liberia- sierra leone conflict most of the deaths were avoidable with the right technology but of course we are always incapacitated.

2 the united states is sending their all out assault on Alquaeda in iraq alone at a high price of 12bn usd monthly, does Nigeria have such economic might? at a time our economy has not recovered from Sanusi and iweala's experiments?

Nigeria at home has failed to design a road map to secure our internal security, that is why we are scared of refugees.

if it gets to that no doubt, The Nigerian govt will do what other govts have done and are still doing in raising funds for sustaining refugees.

other west African countries like Ghana and ivory coat et france should understand that Nigeria is indisposed at the moment with the burden of boko haram and very weak Naira.

what did we gain from other peace keeping efforts? if i remember vividly, it was this same ECOWAS that have denied Nigeria various positions on insecurity grounds and has never for once donated a pin to aid Nigeria's effort on terrorism?

did Ghana or Niger republic fear for once that the refugee spill will get to respective country from Northern Nigeria? why cant these troops be commited to securing our borders than this peace keeping jamboree?

i know jona is not smart but this is not rocket science.

owobokiri: This is a healthy decision. These guys are tied to Boko and might be the group arming foundamentalist groups across west Africa. To suggest that they should be left alone because we have BH to contend with sounds shortsighted. If they are allowed such a massive permanent base in West Africa, we are totally screwed because there will be no peace since their ultimate aim is to take over as much territory across the continent as possible. The best thing to do is to take mayhem to their doorstep thereby starving other al-qaeda cells in the region of their life support; send large numbers of RUTHLESS soldiers to Mali, with or without the dodgy UNs mandate . These guys in Mali are more deadly than Boko and must be uprooted ASAP.
what happens to strengthening your internal security? terrorist organizations still yearn to terrorize on American soil can they?

HNosegbe: Actually I support the deployment of troops to Mali. Nigeria is a regional power, and as such she has a responsibility to ensure regional security. Insecurity in countries across our borders, if not contained early, is likely to lead to an exodus of refugees to other countries, Nigeria inclusive.

Besides, a sensible government can use such intervention for its advantage e.g by securing better trade deals, access to resources etc. Sensible Western governments do this all the time, why can't we?
brain dead as usual, Nigeria was still a member of ECOWAS when Boko haram invaded us to an extent that the united states govt Ratified them as an official terrorist organization, why did the other members and regional power not come to our aid?

Nigeria spent almost 11yrs in Liberia/sierra leone, today, a Liberian citizen is treated better than an average Nigerian citizen else where.

what trade deals have we secured with Liberia and sierra Leone? i heard they even have diamonds, why are Nigerian companies not the ones mining there?

exactly what mineral interest and trade interest could a hungry mali be to Nigeria?
