When your child starts school should be your call, totally. However, I want you to know that where I work, children from age 2 or slightly lesser are enrolled in prep 1. Before they graduate from that level (at age 3 or slightly lesser) most of them are able identify letter sounds from a-z, identify numbers from 0-50 or even more, scribble, trace and even write numbers or letters from 0-10 or A-E. Note that I said some and not all, bearing in mind that some children may are "special". Do you want your child to be left behind whilst his or her counterparts are gaining? |

Offpointng: When I was quite younger and Inexperienced, with the way American movies and News paint her country to be the best place on Planet Earth, it became my choicest Country and a Country of my dream
Until I got in Contact with this Russian controlled page "In The Now" that exposes the rotten and Dirty secrets America has been hiding away from folks outside America before the page was brought down, my jaw dropped. It's there I got to know;
> Each day you wake up in America, you live in constant fear, esp if you're Black
> Each year, thousands of Americans also Japa from America to live in other countries
> Atleast 312 people are being shot daily in the US (app 1 persons in every 12min)
> Just like in Nigeria, you're not safe at Night as you can be robbed or shot dead
> You don't spend much time in a place of large gathering like Walmart, Clubs or Cinemas, cuz it's not safe as you can be shot dead "mistakenly"
> When people look at you for long, it really might not be in admiration, you should be nervous
> Many Kids and Adults are being kidnapped and with a hopeless likelihood of been found
> A simple n short Argument can cost you ur life (America is the easiest place to be killed mistakenly)
> Being Black leaves you at a Disadvantage when being approached by the Cops as a racist Cop can push you into doing or saying something that can cost you your life
> Police approach you with a safety off Gun in fear cuz he doesn't know if you have a gun or not and "any uneasy body movements" can have him release bullet shots, killing you.
> Your killers can bag a 5 - 10year jail time and be out to live even his best life.
> There's no True Justice in America, Detectives are always looking for evidence even when it's glaring, so don't loose guard by allowing anyone kill u first
> Just like in the Jungle, life in America is a life of kill or be killed. reason why everyone own a Gun I must give kudos and credence to the American and western media as a whole. C9ntrary to the common belief here, the media(print, electronic...) has a strong influence on how a country is perceived. Most of the ill notions aired and heked against Nigeria and Nigerians abroad are products of what our media put out there. |

PARADIZEPRIEST: Roasted is beta than fried, roasted yam, roasted fish, roasted chicken etc Actually neither of them is better. Facts have been established about the health hazards of eating fried foods too often than not. The same goes for food roasted directly in open fire as seen above. Exposure to carcinogens tops the chart. |

Exceptional300: There’s this girl I have been dating for a couple of months now, we are planning on settling down soon. She was diagnosed with PCOS couple of years ago before I met her, had a surgery and one of her ovaries were removed. Though she still ovulates and sees her period, I am kind of worried if there will be any issues in the future. My parents doesn’t know about her surgery yet. Should I tell them about it? Since you have resolved to make her your wife. It is better not to divulge this to your parents. Since she is ovulating, she will certainly bear children. |

Love800: How does one do dis cucumber stew? Chop, deseed and deskin the cucumbers, blend, extract all the juice and use the dry chaff as you would your tomatoes. You however, must use Sachet or tin tomatoes, pepper, onion and scotch bonnet to establish the red stew base before adding the cucumber chaf. |

Education › Re: Guys, I'm In A Dilemma And I Need Your Opinions by Juliearth(f): 7:02am On Jun 06, 2024 |
Kemistri3: Good day guys,
I'm a 500l student in one of the pharmacy schools in Nigeria. So a few days ago, one of my results from 400l was uploaded on the portal. I was shocked when i saw a result of "d 45". This is an exam I was expecting nothing less than an "A" because I wrote very well. Now I had 24 in the test and 21/70 in the exam which I know is impossible because I still have the question paper with me and I literally can remember very well the questions I answered.
I'm depressed for real because this is the first time I'm having such a result in a departmental course. I've never experienced this before
So now I have a dilemma:
A part of my mind is telling me to approach the lecturer politely and try to reason with him. Maybe there was an oversight somewhere or something...
But I'm having second thoughts because I don't really know how he'll take it(we all know Nigerian lecturers). I don't want to have problems with him because he's still teaching us other important courses
Some persons are telling me to stomach it and just write it next year since it's a 1-unit course
So here's where I need your advice:
a) should I approach him and try to reason?
b) should I just forget about it
c) has any of you ever faced such a problem during your university days? And how did u handle it?
Your opinions and advice will be greatly appreciated 🤲🏾 Please approach him and table your thoughts. What's the worse that can happen that isn't your fate already, assuming you choose to let it slide? Your manner of approach should however, be key. I wish you all the best! |

MrBrownJay1: you are absolutely right but then again you are not asking the right question... you have to put ALL sentiments aside and look at whats more important here:"getting a salary that will allow you to feed/care for your child OR stay home being jobless while having the greatest time/bond with your child? because you CANNOT use your misplaced emotions and bring your child to work. so you have to take a decision and stick to it. no parent want to let their children with strangers but sometimes they have NO CHOICE:
sadly, the above is what any wise mother must think of BEFORE having children as it is not a walk in the park to be great parents (as much as many clueless immature irresponsible people believe otherwise)... remember, its very easy to get pregnant, its another ballgame entirely to RAISE A CHILD PROPERY.
exactly... or find a trusted family member to take care of the child for them. I think she is an apprentice, so she is not under any payment plan. I stand to be corrected though. When it comes to children, "wisdom" is not explicit, not a case of," He who fails to plan, plans to fail". I'm sure you plan for the days ahead, prior. Weren't there days when your plans do not check out completely? Whether the child was planned for or otherwise, I believe she made the best choice birthing the child. You can't use a mistake to correct a mistake. Bringing in an extra hand would mean an extra mouth to feed and fend for. Does that woman look like an individual who can incur that sort of expense? |

MrBrownJay1: if this woman doesnt have any other alternative then let her keep her baby with the neighbors.... an employer doesnt give a damn about the above...
A) do you really believe an employer gives a damn about the above? B) but lets assume she brings her child to work, who will take care of the child while this woman is "working"? or better yet, C) tell us all what job position on this earth is ok to bring your child to work?
never heard of someone bringing their child to work or an employer allowing an employee to bring their child to work... simply because a workplace is a DANGEROUS environment for an unsupervised child. As a teacher, I have come to understand how delicate children are and how deeply attached you can become to these tiny beings without even birthing them. If this bond can be created when I am just a tutor figure, I wonder how strong the bond would be between my child(ren) and I. What do you think is primary to this woman? Her job or her child? Children pull in surprises on a steady. A child who slept healthy may wake up ill. Diapers may have run out, the mother may have had need to take care of one or two vicissitudes that may have come up. We may think we are in control of our time, but truly, we aren't. If the only option this woman has is neglecting her child with the neighbours, then she should quit and learn the craft from youtube. |

MrBrownJay1: funny bit, but let me ask: - why you bring your child to work, to begin with? - if this isnt the 1st time you came late to work, then would this punishments make things better? wouldnt it better to just tell her that her paycheck will be docked every time she arrives late. - or better yet, to tell her that next time she is late, she can stay home as she will not be needed any longer... Let's assume she is a single mother, would you rather have her keep her baby with neighbours who may not adequately care for the child? |

Catalysttt: Hello nairalanders, I'm from Eastern Nigeria (Anambra state) pricisely. Was born and brought up in the north, Niger State!
I don't really know why things are too expensive in the southern part of Nigerian than the north.
I don't even like coming home sometimes (east) due to the unnecessary high cost of living in the southern region.
Everybody is just so greedy and selfish. Especially how I read here on nairaland.
If not for terrorism and banditry, here is one of the major part of the country where the poor can actually live their lives and train their children.
Below are some of the prices of commodities in my local community.
1. this plate of rice is #500
2. This yam was bought from one of my mom's customers for #4,000
3. This fufu and egusi soup is #600
4. The Yam in the fourth picture was bought for #12,000
I have a lot of images to upload and their prices but nairaland is telling me that I have exceeded limit of image upload. Don't know how this site works properly Op, I want to believe this post was not made recently because these prices are outrageous. A bag of Sachet water is 300 naira. The tubers of yam you paraded have also doubled in price. |
