Nigerians must go has already started o! Below is an instance; Ghanaians move against Nollywood •Nigerian Actors to pay $1000, producers pay $5000 to work in Ghana •Nollywood retaliates By Samuel Olatunji Sunday, July 04, 2010 Arinze Photo: Sun News Publishing * Showpiece Index The relationship between Nigerian movie industry otherwise known as Nollywood and Ghanaian movie industry popularly known as Ghollywood is strained now due to a resolution by Ghollywood that Nollywood is “dim, insulting and retarded”. The Ghana Actors’ Guild penultimate week reached a resolution that henceforth any Nigerian producer that wants to work in Ghana must pay $5000 while Nigerian actors must pay $1000 per movie. Producers must also pay $300 for every Nigerian crewmember on set. What is however not clear is whether it is the actor that must cough out the $1000 or the producer using the actor? The move SBN learnt, did not go down well with stakeholders in Nollywood who feel Ghanaians are biting the fingers that fed them. “How in the world can Ghanaians ever think up such idea? We taught them our way, make their actors popular, put food on the table of their stars, show them the way to go in movie making, established interesting collaborations with them and even gave them awards and recognition they would not have gotten anywhere. Our company endorsed their stars, and we are part of the reason their economy is working. This move is retarded. Ghanaians are ingrates and are becoming greedy. We will show them we are ten steps ahead of them” a Nollywood stakeholder who does not want his name in print told us. Factional president of Actors Guild of Nigeria, Mr Segun Arinze said “we are meeting to review the situation and I will let you know our decision”. However, a source told us that Nollywood has already reached a decision which might finally put an end to the working relationship between Ghanaian and Nigerian actors. Nollywood has also resolved that every Ghanaian actor will pay $2,000 while producers will pay $7,000 and the resolution will be effective from July. AGN has also agreed to persuade all corporate bodies in Nigeria to stop employing Ghanaians . “Whether it is endorsement, invitation to event or anything at all, all patriotic corporate bodies must as a matter of urgency stop patronizing Ghanaians because they now see us as enemies”, they said. Another Nollywooder who doesn’t want his name in print points out that Ghanaians are becoming increasingly anti-Nigeria. “I have reasons to believe that Ghanainas are becoming increasingly anti-Nigerian. The other time they came up with a resolution that it is only one Nigerian movie that should be released in Ghana per week. We felt that they were trying to develop their market. Then when Globacom entered their market, they sent people out to vandalize their equipment and now we have to pay $5000. This is crap and very unbecoming of Ghanaians”, he said. The deteriorating relationship SBN learnt, has sent jitters down the spine of Ghanaians working in Nigeria among them Van Vicker, Nadia Bhuari, John Dumelo, Jackie Appiah and Majid Michael. The actors are against the move and many of them felt members of the guilds who reached the decision without their (actors) input are jealous and jobless. “If they are working, they won’t reach that kind of decision. They are jobless lots who are inspired by boredom to always stir the hornet’s nest unnecessarily” a Ghanaian actress told us. When SBN spoke to Van Vicker, he said he was not in a position to talk. “My guy, I can’t talk on that o since I wasn’t there and I don’t have much information now. Moreover I’m not president of Ghana’s Actors Guild” he said. Nadia Bhuari we learnt, might also be affected as she is presently the face of Devon Soap which is manufactured by Orange Drugs. Source: http://www.sunnewsonline.com/webpages/features/showpiece/2010/july/04/showpiece-04-07-2010-001.htm We will definitely see who the looser will be at the end. ![]() I bet more Nigerian stars will emerge in Nollywood. |
Acidosis: Ok, I think your problem is a lack of understanding of the English that I used. Let me use simple English to explain, for you to understand better. This Picture of Yakubu Aiyegbeni's empty goal miss made me to understand that indeed all is not well with our national team. If all is not well with our national team, it means that the right players were not being selected. By "right players", I mean the hungry, hidden and undiscovered soccer talents that are so many among the 150 million Nigerians. The blame is supposed to go to the coach. But what do you expect from a coach that was appointed just few weeks to the World cup. The blame automatically falls on the NFF. A glance at the NFF reveals their indifference and corruption that has eaten deep into their system, which has made them ineffective and inefficient in administering the game in Nigeria. A good administration would have put a machinery in motion for the discovery of these glory hungry Nigerian soccer talents that are ignored by the present NFF. This has brought about the over-reliance on foreign based players for tournaments, over-aged players to win age grade tournaments etc which will continue to make our soccer to dwindle. The president is making moves to change these things in that same NFF, so that the right people can run our soccer administration and give us the required results. I am fully in support of his action even if it means being banned by FIFA. Now you see how the Picture link to my support of the restructuring of Nigerian soccer? Don't write just for writing sake. Read and understand before writing. |
Acidosis:Do you know the meaning of "Speculation"?. No insults intended, Just asking cos you left me wondering about what's so speculative about the topic of this post. This is the reason why I support the restructuring of Nigeria's soccer, and not why Obasanjo will rule Nigerian soccer soon. |
The Leader of the All Progre-ssives Grand Alliance, Chukwuemeka Odum-egwu Ojukwu, yesterday, proclaimed total freedom for the people of Abia State as the state governor, Theodore Orji officially declared his membership of the party. Ojukwu, accompanied by Anambra State governor, Peter Obi and 11 national officers of APGA, including national chairman, Victor Umeh and national secretary, Sani Shinkafi, arrived the capacity filled Michael Okpara auditorium, Umuahia at exactly 2.55 p.m. with Orji and was greeted with a thunderous ovation. “Yeah! Let my people go,” Ojukwu roared like an old lion,” adding “today, Abia people have been liberated to join the rest of Ndigbo.”He told the cheering crowd that he was inspired by God to come to Abia and bring them into the fold of APGA hence they should not be afraid of following him as things would change for the better in the state. The APGA leader assured that having embraced Governor Orji, he would not waver in giving him support “until together we reach the promised land,” adding that he would henceforth treat the Abia governor as a son.“Ochendo, from today you’re my son. Together we shall reach the promised land,” he said.Governor Orji in his address described his declaration as “a historic day in the life of Abia State.” “It is a day that the sun is shinning; it is a day that our eyes are opened; it is a day we are relieved,” he said, adding that he was justified for every action he has taken because he was “pushed to the wall and even beyond the wall by the national leadership of the Progressive Peoples Alliance.” The governor, who was visibly happy with his new found party, explained that he left PPA because he was rejected and “if you’re rejected, you go to another place and seek for solace.”He insisted that his action was in consonance with the yearnings of Abia people and he was prepared to lead them in the struggle for freedom, alluding to the stranglehold of the Orji Uzor Kalu political dynasty on Abia State. “As a leader, there is a time you must listen to the yearnings of the people. There is a time you must do what pleases the people because I have the peoples’ mandate,” he said. In their remarks, Governor Obi and Victor Umeh said that the entry of Orji into APGA marked the end of “godfatherism” in Abia State, noting that God’s own state would begin to reap the benefits just like Anambra has been enjoying massive development since the dismantling of “godfatherism”. “APGA has not come to rake over Abia State. We have come here to create an environment that will ensure sustainable and enduring development,” the national chairman of APGA said. “What happened in Anambra State that engendered development will start happening in Abia from today,” he promised. The event witnessed a mass exodus of political office holders from the PPA to APGA, with Senator Uche Chukwumerije, Abia Speaker, Agwu U. Agwu and 13 PPA legislators, as well as two of their PDP counterparts, all in attendance at the event in solidarity with the governor. Source: http://www.thisdayonline.com/nview.php?id=177345 |
Acidosis:Where's the speculation in this post? |
Beaf:I like this! Shows that there is still hope for Nigeria. This is the only way Nigeria can survive. I think the new Nigerian generation will bring the needed change. |
This Yakubu Aiyegbeni's miss convinced me that the Super Eagles were so incompetent and good for nothing. This one came after Ogbuke missed one earlier. Notice that the south Korean seem to be telling Ogbuke to ask the Referee to issue a card to Aiyegbeni for missing that glaring chance. Look at how shocked and lost Martins looked Look at all the players with their hands on their heads I still wonder why out of 150 million people from a soccer crazy country like Nigeria, a good team cannot be assembled. To hell with FIFA! Nigeria's soccer needs to be healed

tkb417:You are a real Nonentity! A real waste of space and time. Intellectual discourse Ko! Discourse intellectual Ni! Can a baboon like you ever make sense, not to talk of indulging in an intellectual discourse? I am outta here. You aint worth spending time on. I better listen to Vivzelas than the noise you call "Making sense" |
tkb417:Whether you like it or not, It has been banned. Let us concentrate on things we can do better, or rediscover ourselves. Get that in your dull brain! Go and bury yourself if you dnt like it. Who needs you in NL? Abeg make I hear word jo! Dint know you were in existence until now. Nice to know that you use more than half of your brain, yet still cannot be sensible. |
The good teams also cry. Shooo! Brazil wan win am 8 times? Was it a brazilian that made the World cup trophy? I like this!!!!! |
I love G. Jonathan! No homo! He should ban everything soccer. Let Nigerians concentrate on more important things. Anytime there is a soccer tournament, Nigeria is always at a standstill. Nothing functions. It is at those periods that the highest corrupt acts are carried out. We have other sports e.g Athletics, B.ball, Volleyball, Golf, Tennis etc, let us face those ones and develop them with the money that LULU and co are plundering and using to to enrich themselves. For how long will they continue to break the hearts of Nigerians in the name of soccer administration? I almost had a High Blood pressure because of those idiots. For those calling G.Jonathan names for doing this, I advise you'all to go to hell. Go and tell FIFA to be lenient enough with their penalties, cos Nigeria needs a change. The effort to ensure change is sweeping through different sectors of this country. E.g Inec, Genuine efforts to ensure adequate power generation, Banking sector etc. So, You guys should not say that it is only happening in soccer. Let it be in our soccer history that a bad team can cause some harm to a particular sport. |
@Mens dept: What the heck is your problem? Are you trying to say that the Nigerian military wasted their time in Liberia and Sierra leone? If we dint go to rescue them, who would have helped them? Are you insane? Do you know anything about good neighborliness? Or Actions to spur future positive reciprocal actions from neighbors? So because the militants are Niger-deltans, they should be overlooked, and allowed to steal, despoil, kill and kidnap at will? Who told you that the military just goes into communities to butcher and kill people without course? And what evidence do you have that it has been selective? Was it not what happened in Niger-delta that happened in the North during the Boko haram onslaught? Was it not under a leader from Northern Nigeria that it happened? Don't you think that the professionalism of our military will mature and grow with the civil rule in Nigeria? Does military maturity not come with the renewal of military wares? You must know that just as there are budget provisions for other sectors in Nigeria's economy, defence also has its own provision. In Nigeria, priority is not even given to defence, compared to the United states and most countries. So shut up my friend! Can't you see the difference between Military and politics? Atleast now that they have been truely separated in Nigeria, can't you respect that? The same United states that you are referring to kept manufacturing and purchasing military weapons to sustain their stay in Iraq and afghanistan, even during the recession. What does the fact that US spends more on defence tell u? So you prefer that we give our military sticks and stones as weapons just because we aint developed yet? My friend, you better shut up and go and read for you chemistry exam. You are too young to know anything about the history of unnecessary external aggression. It is untill Cameroun, Benin republic, or Niger republic decides to test Nigeria's military strength that you will be convinced that we need a good military. @Paddy lo: Well done bro. As far as I am concerned, a major determinant of a country to be able to sustain it's national sovereignty and gain respect is the strength of it's military. Nigeria is not yet there, but we will get there. |
There are indications that the cordial relationship between the Nigerian movie industry, Nollywood and its counterpart, Ghana’s Ghollywood, has hit the rocks as authorities of the Ghanaian movie industry have said that Nigerian actors will no longer be allowed to work in their country unless they pay a fee. In a statement sent to the Actors Guild of Nigeria [AGN] Board of Trustees, said henceforth, any Nigerian actor participating in any of their productions will be compelled to pay $1, 000 (One Thousand dollars) or risk losing the job. This development, according to the Ghanaians, is to give ample opportunities to their local actors, and as a result, develop their movie industry to an enviable height. They are of the opinion that their Nigerian counterparts seem to be dictating the pace in the Ghanaian movie scene, and they want to address the issue before it gets out of hand. Confirming this information to P.M NEWS on phone yesterday morning, the Chairman, Board of Trustees of the Actors’ Guild of Nigeria, Prince Ifeanyi Dike, said he and his executives are already addressing the issue. He said that he was shocked when he received the information “because I never believed such decision could come from the Ghanaians. Nollywood has done a lot to improve their movie industry and what they have done now is a clear indication that they are ingrates. How could the Ghanaians insist that Nigerian actors must be paying $1, 000 before participating in their productions? “A lot of our popular artistes have been calling me on this issue and I have assured them that we are going to make the necessary moves. It was Nollywood that made Ghanaian actors like Van Vicker, so it is absurd for them to be creating hurdles for our own actors now.” Prince Dike, however, stated that part of the resolutions made by his board is that if at all, any Ghanaian actor must act in Nigeria, such actor will also be compelled to pay $2,000 (two thousand dollars). Meanwhile, as the number of foreign actors plying their trade in Nigeria’s Nollywood continues to increase, the Actors Guild of Nigeria, AGN, has called on the Nigerian Film and Video Marketers to curb the excesses of these foreign actors. The authorities of AGN reiterated that movie marketers, producers, directors and other stakeholders should avoid giving prominence to foreign actors at the expense of their local counterparts. Star actor and National President of AGN, Segun Arinze, said he is not opposed to the use of foreign actors in Nigerian movies, but it should not be at the expense of the local talents. According to Arinze, Nigerian movie producers should be cautious of the influx of foreign actors, especially the Ghanaians, who seem to be getting more roles and better remuneration in Nigerian films. He, however, urged the producers to “embrace an 80 percent local talent and 20 percent foreign in our films.” He said “the current situation is worrisome to AGN as our talents are left wasting away. More disturbing is the situation where our own actors are not engaged in jobs outside the country, making our efforts not reciprocal. “AGN appreciates the contributions of our foreign colleagues to Nollywood but when the home grown talents are wasting away, we should have a re-think because we are equally talented.” By Bayo Adetu As culled from PM News. |

Eddeux:Good point. But You must know that good leadership also comes with passion to lead. In a Nigeria that is not united, the passion of our leaders is dedicated to a certain portion of the population. The key word here is "Unity". It is clear that people with some form of homogeneity in culture and belief tend to be united. That is why break up is a viable option. As for seceding corrupt leaders, I don't get what you mean. However, most of these leaders would never have the chance to lead if they get into a political atmosphere that is more united than divided. Like Jonathan said in a meeting with Nigerians in diaspora before the Canadian G8 meeting (I was there), Most politicians gain political favor and positions by canvassing and promoting ethnic division and strife. |
If we must be one Nigeria, then we need to forgo sectionalism and pick people on merit devoid of ethno religious considerations to lead us to the level of development we want. If we must Continue the North/South dichotomy, Zoning arrangement, "Federal character" Considerations, then we are not one in Nigeria. So I say it is better to divide than to keep depriving people of good leaders in the name of "Political Zoning" of leaders based on ethnicity/religion in a single entity called Nigeria. This division is a big impediment to pro-developmental leaders like Donald Duke, Tunde Fashola, Sullyvan Chime, Amaechi etc Nigerians must be clear about their existence as one! Are we really one? What can we do to really remain as one? If we can't be one what is the solution? |
Onlytruth:Oh! I saw this late. Dint know that Kobojunkie was already famous for arguing in a brainless manner! Sigh, I should have known. |
Kobojunkie:You are a waste of energy. Completely ignorant! Just like a real " 1 Kobo-Junkie". Why then are you against Massob? or Niger-delta militants? Why do you get scared when a section of Nigeria signals their intention to secede? Why do you rejoice at people that have fought for freedom to be united among themselves and lost? Stop saying that I am jittery, cos everyone can see that you are the one shitting in your pants! Your statement below is an evidence. Kobojunkie:Looks like Someone is scared of division, even in the face of realities. Coward! |
Kobojunkie:Is PDP German or Austrian? Empty brain! Your level of lack of information is terrifying! Is Buhari in PDP? What was he doing in the last Northern meeting to discuss "How the North can "CAPTURE" Power? ![]() |
Kobojunkie:You are a pure illiterate! What does the sentences in bold tell you? were you talking of different nations there, or one nation that claims to be united? Nothing in your statement shows you that Nigeria is a divided country? Even in PDP, politics is based on ethnic considerations! Dude! We are talking of a party that is supposed to be united to contest with other parties! Then imagine how widespread and intense ethnic division is in the national political scene? Na wa for you o! Did you read my post atall, or you just saw division and urinated on yourself? Why must we be playing politics on an ethnic level and still claim to be one country? You just know how to say "One Nigeria!", Yet cannot defend it in reality! Which other ethnic group is truly one with your ethnic group? You confirmed how dumb and brainless you are with your last statement. If he was fighting for me, why was Fashola the only governor there? Do you know what Soyinka said? He said that NIGERIA IS ON THE VERGE OF COLLAPSE! He is foresighted. With people like you around, the break up will come sooner than later. We all know the people that fear breakup most! |
Kobojunkie: In a country like Nigeria that claims to be united, the calls for zoning by political leaders of a region in the country, in a meeting (Which you may be too blind not to have read about) is worrisome, and a sign of division! At Nigeria's political party level, P.D.P is the ruling party and have been producing Nigeria's leaders since the inception of democracy in Nigeria. The fact that such an argument is going on in that political party is enough to raise the concern of those that wants the best for Nigeria. Was it not in your eyes that Obasanjo rigged and handed over to Yar'adua, just to respect the so called "Gentleman" agreement. How forward have we progressed since then? About your last statement in bold, it a perfect advise for you. This is because You have failed to notice the bold handwriting on the wall, even when all the Northern leaders (Irrespective of party) Converged to discuss how the North can "CAPTURE" Power. Is that a Sign of a united country? Soon Igbos and Yorubas will follow, and you will see no reason to ask the question that I raised. FYI: I asked a Simple question. Why Must we be pretending to be united in a country where Sectionalism is the order of the day? Kobojunkie! Stop pretending like all is well with the unity of Nigeria! Are you deaf and blind? Or just Ignorant? WTH!!!! ![]() |
ziddy:Then leave it for Europeans and North Americans that will never want to come and invest in the condition Nigeria is? You are funny! Ghana will regret this action to some little extent. It will have an effect on them in terms of CSR, employment and tax income. |
Nigerians like deceiving themselves What is the point "Zoning" political posts in Nigeria when we are supposed to be Nigerians (Not Igbos, hausas, yorubas, Urhobos etc) That we are Nigerians means that we are all united and equal Citizens of Nigeria before the law. It means that Every Nigerian has the right to contest and win elections, without any Socio- ethnic or religious considerations. My point is, why can't Nigerians let the best and most productive (Not even qualified) people bring about change in Nigeria? Even if it happens that a particular state/region keeps producing people that brings positive changes, we should not care, because they are Nigerians and they are getting the job done! If We (Nigerians) Cannot conduct and vote in an election that is completely free and fair to every Nigerian that is qualified to contest, Without any Socio-ethnic and political considerations, then Why are we Nigerians? If It is compulsory that leaders must be selected based on a rotational regional basis, without any consideration of the best and most productive candidates in the country, it means that we are not united/"One" in Nigeria. We can as well break the country up, so that every zone or entity can have their own leaders and vote in a united way. Since Nigerians are passionate about their regions, why dont we break up to have political peace and tranquility? After all, there is no limit to the number of countries that should exist in a continent. We must all know that there can be no progress in Nigeria without political stability. If a Yoruba man/Woman becomes the president and carries out changes, a Hausa man/Woman will get elected next and cancel the changes to make his own changes. An Igbo man/Woman will do same and We will keep dancing around a circle without progress. Tinubu (despite how currupt he was) Laid some foundations, and ensured that a right man (Fashola) was installed to develop the foundations and lay his own foundations. This is because of their passion for their state and ethnic group. And even in the face of political tumoil, the people's voice prevail because they have a different loyalty for their people than Nigerians as a whole. This zoning idea has eaten deep into the political life of Nigeria. We need to really be clear about what we want in Nigeria. If we must Keep zoning political positions, we must also divide Nigeria in order to have political peace, tranquility and Continuity of progress. As things stand now, I can't even point out a Northerner that is politically productive (Positively) to be in that position and give us progress, except a few (Who are politically alienated) |
Bunch Of KAITAS! ![]() |
@Omo alata: Take them to the country side, and make them see more natural stuffs. Especially the villages around. They'll love it. This is because I think they'll be bored seeing what they are used to abroad. Show them wetin they never see! Drive them around the ghetto areas like Mushin, A.J etc and tell them stories of how things got that bad. Show them people suffering and tell them why they must not neglect or abuse the privilege they have. Take them around beaches. You can as well fly them to other parts of the country like Obudu ranch and spend some few days there, using the opportunity to tour Ancient and modern Calabar. Visit museums and tell them stories about structures. You can also take them to Abeokuta to see the "Olumo" rocks |
Eziachi:When a country meets it's "Optimum" level of economic growth and development, some degree of "saturation" sets in. "Saturation" is marked by the urge to connect another country's economy to a host country's economy (in the form of outward FDI or trade) to sustain growth which has slowed down. This connection is naturally ensured due to several factors which includes the intensity of economic competition in an economy. This normally happens in very matured economies. When such happens, GDP growth slows down because of loss of investments, growth in unemployment, decrease in In tax revenue, increase in import and reduction in government expenditure due to decrease in national income (Some countries like the united states normally resort to borrowing from other countries). A good example is the exodus of Several American companies to the Asian economies, especially China after they liberalized their political system, in search of competitive edge. Alot of American companies moved from the United states and created enormous GDP growth in China. It is not that these companies don't pay taxes to the United states. They do. But the degree at which they do may be restricted by the host country. However, a matured economy is normally marked by slow growth compared to countries that have not reached their "Optimum" potentials, like Nigeria. For example, if the electricity problem is solved in Nigeria, Nigeria's GDP will naturally grow, because more companies will flow in to take advantage of that, our cheap labor and population size. As companies flow in, especially manufacturing companies, they reduce the growth of the countries they existed in before. It is like buying and selling. When someone comes to your shop to buy something, someone else has lost the person as a customer. It is now your ability to make the person to remain a loyal customer that matters. In business, While you become rich, someone else is getting poor. Liken it to countries economies. As Nigeria puts the right things in place, inflow of FDI, domestic investments etc increases. This stimulates a huge GDP growth. While in Countries with saturated economies, they struggle, using business diplomacy to sustain a favorable level of GDP growth. Sometimes, they resort to outright exploitation of countries with insensitive leaders like Nigeria. I read that when Korean companies get construction contracts in Nigeria, they take the production of construction materials back to Korea to produce, there by sustaining industries and creating jobs in Korea at the detriment of Nigeria. They export these materials, while Nigeria imports them, then they use a % of their workforce to install them. That is what we call 419 at an international diplomatic level. The maga in this case is Nigeria. |
GDP is known as Gross domestic product GDP of a country is known as the Gross Domestic product of a country (Note the meaning of GROSS, DOMESTIC and PRODUCT) GDP=Y Y is the National income of a country. It is determined by aggregate supply and aggregate demand of goods in a country. If GDP=Y, it means that gross domestic product of a country is the national income of that country. Note that GDP =Y GDP's equation is Y=CD+I+G+(x-M) The meaning of the equation is that National income is made up of the sum of 1 Domestic consumption 2 Investment (FDI +Domestic investments (Both large scale and small scale)) 4 Governments expenditure 5 export minus import (Subtract Nigeria's import from it's export, then you'll know why oil contributes only 16%) America's Economy survives on Domestic consumption. The rate at which Americans spend to consume determines (to a large extent) how their economy performs. It is not about population size though, because China depends on export rate for the growth of their economy. Ironically, a large % of their exports is mostly dependent on the domestic consumption ability of the United states (This is why they keep quarreling without action) . Japan's economy is more dependent on Investments, which are exported mostly. They are also very dependent on the domestic consumption ability of the united states. This explains why it is very difficult to ignore the economic importance of the United states in the world. Government's expenditure (Spending) is also a major factor that determines the performance of the Gross domestic products of a country. Remember that Obama borrowed a huge amount from China to stimulate their economy during the economic downturn that was triggered off by the Mortgage Sub-prime crises. That is known as a "Counter-cyclical" spending. Put simply, it is government's expenditure to bring an economy back to life. Note that despite the GDP of the United states, they still experience a constant Budget deficit. Nigeria's GDP includes all these components. If the GDP of Nigeria is increasing, it means that our economy is actually doing fine. Note the use of "Economy" not "Nigerians" Nigerians will only move up with the growth of the Economy if the government plays it's regulatory role well, and ensures that the private sector is encouraged to contribute to the economy. (This is why I think we need someone like Fashola as president. He seems to be the only governor that understands these rudiments. He is following them cautiously, religiously and impressively) Even in China, Investors are encouraged (Given a good reason to invest). They did this through providing all the basic amenities, maintaining cheap labor and keeping the Yuan remimbi (Their currency) low, through pegging it to the USD, and maintaining it vigorously (Though I heard that they want to float it now to ease inflation and trade wars with other countries) In essence, if the Nigerian government does it's home work well, Nigeria will wake from her deep slumber. Note that Governmental spending does not mean that they are doing their homework well. Provision of the right conditions with the money spent is the main issue. Nigerias GDP would have been higher if Sanusi did not act like a sensless James bond. He should have applied a more evolutionary means to keep investors confident (acted like a communist in a society that claims to be capitalist). The Pull out of Funds due to the sudden revelation by the CBN audit committee was terrible on the economy. The subsequent mass sack of citizens was not also good on the economy in terms of tax and consumption (Though it had an unnoticable effect on the economy) Investments in the telecoms sector since the present democracy started had a positive impact on the economy. Unemployment, lack of basic amenities, lack of good image, curruption, difficulty of doing business and irresponsible governance are things that will continue to hamper Nigeria's realisation of her true potentials if they are not corrected. Unfortunately, these things are easy to correct. There is just no political will to do them in Nigeria. Tribalism is more important to Nigerians than general development ![]() I just thought I should clarify the issue of what GDP means No links, I wrote this. |

mukina2:There are mistakes that are avoidable. when you make such mistakes, you'll have to carry the blame and bear the consequences. More and more Nigerians are getting involved in serious soccer bets. Soccer radicalism is growing like mad in Nigeria. While it is not a good trend, it is growing too fast. Such threats are bound to be made. Don't doubt the ability of those hooligans. They can hurt that guy called Kaita. If Nigerians can kill themselves for the premier league, imagine what would happen for a global soccer tournament like the world cup. Like a commentator said, "The Nigerian team made alot of primary school errors." Kaita action was not completely an error, it was very deliberate and below a nursery school's error. |
Source: http://dr-michael..com/ It will be a very easy question to ask who the most frightened Nigerian player at the moment is. The answer is definitely Sani Kaita. The Kano born, 24 years old Nigerian defensive midfielder has become more popular due to a moment of madness that he had when he deliberately raised his studs at a Greek player, Vasillis Torosidis, in the full glare of the world. That was indeed a moment of madness that produced a straight red card. As expected, his dismissal had a negative impact on the performance of the Super eagles of Nigeria. The Greeks overturned their deficit, and ran away with a deserved 2-1 win over the two times African champions. It was very painful to Nigerians and Africans in general. It was indeed a sad day for Nigerian soccer. The blame was heaped on Sani Haruna Kaita, who currently plays for Alania Vladikavkaz of Russia. Kaita regretted his action. As a matter of fact, he rendered an apology to all his fans. He said, “Of course we were both out on the pitch and we were both running for the ball, so the guy kicked the ball and he hit me with the ball, so I go at him, that is what he asked for. That was the situation. I cannot say anything more about it. I am very disappointed and everyone is disappointed. The reaction of the Greek player is what made me angry because he hurt me with the ball and my temper was high. Of course it wasn't the right thing to do, but it happened and I hope it will not happen again. All I can say is that I'm sorry to all Nigerians, but all hope is not lost and we look forward to the next game. If we win our last game we will go through.” Following his unfortunate action, and the inability of the Nigerian team to hold on to their goal advantage, The hope of the team to make it to the knock out stages of the world cup being hosted in South Africa is in Jeopardy. The team's progress is now completely dependent on their ability to win S. Korea, and Argentina beating Greece, without conceding a goal. It will be an understatement to say that this situation broke the heart of more than a 100 million Nigerian fans and supporters of the Super Eagles. It was more of a catastrophe, because apart from emotional disappointments, many Nigerians and foreigners lost huge amounts in monetary and property bets. Who would blame the fans for betting? it looked quite certain that Nigeria would beat Greece, following their above fair performance against Argentina, despite their loss. Also, considering that Greece was yet to win a match in the World cup, it looked certain that they would not break the jinx just yet. They did Exactly that. They did not only break the jinx, they broke hearts. Alot of Fans lost their bets. As expected, they searched for a reason to hold onto. No other reason was more viable than Kaita's moment of "Karate" madness. To me, Obasi Ogbuke's open net loss was more grievous. But to many fans, it happens in soccer, while Kaita's action was avoidable. Kaita woke up within the weekend to discover a flood of death threats among his e-mail messages. According to the Super Eagles spokesman, Peterside Idah, "Kaita has so far received more than 1,000 threats in his e-mail from within Nigeria." He went further to state that the former Monaco player was greatly shaken, but is receiving some support from his team mates. That was totally unexpected considering the fact that it has never happened in Nigeria's national soccer team's history. All said and done, it has happened. The guy, Sani Haruna Kaita is definitely scared to his bone marrow now. Nigerians are visibly divided in their judgment about the rationale of such threats. As expected, a majority condemned it, while a minority wish that the threat was already carried out before being released. At first, I was with the majority. I totally condemned the action of the Nigerians that sent the threat letters to him. After a careful analysis and consideration, I quickly changed my view in support of the minority. My reasons are not far-fetched. They are commonsensical. The majority of Nigerians are looking at the threats from their impact on Sani Kaita, without thinking about their impact on the team in general. Soccer is no more "Just a game". The present Super Eagles team seem to lack proper motivation. All the Dollars and Pounds being given to them seem not to be good enough to motivate them. Such promises are very counter productive. These player have seen millions of dollars, so they definitely think that they deserve the money, instead of seeing the monetary incentive as a sacrifice of the nation to motivate them. This explains the Psychological "Big boy" playing style of the players in the team. They all look fat and very undisciplined in the pitch. Their pace is slow, and their mode of play is sluggish. The rustiness of their skills and attitude is not in doubt. After all, what else do you expect from players that remind journalists that they are stars each time they grant interviews. To cut the long story short, those players in the current Super eagles team need a new type of motivation. The question is, how will Sani Kaita play if he is given a chance to make amends? The aftermath of Sani Kaita's mistake gave me an insight on the reasons why countries like Argentina, Brazil, Colombia etc, that equally have a high rate of indiscipline play with so much vigor and determination. They don't play just to win. They play to keep people alive, make people win bets, save the image of their country, and give nobody the reason to come after them. Even when they lose, their determination, persistence and humility calms the nerves of their fans. The Super Eagles only play to get good clubs, Satisfy their NFF cohorts and to remain stars in the eyes of the fans. They don't care about any other thing. For losing to Nigeria in 1996 Olympics game, many Brazillian player's homes were attacked and burnt. Roberto Carlos was seriously affected. He understood it and stepped up his game. If Andres Escobar was alive after the attack, and could play, he would have still played for Colombia and would have shone like a million stars. Now to my point. Someone, somewhere needs to make Super eagles a "hot" team to play in. By "hot", I mean a team where a bad player would not want to attempt joining, for his own safety and the sake of Super Eagles fans. The state of the super eagles team is the reason why a player like Sani Kaita could afford to raise his studs without thinking of the implications. His apology clearly shows that he thinks that he was right in some ways. He sounded indifferent. You won't blame him. He will get his Bonus at the end of the day. This threat is very much needed to make the Super Eagles players to understand that they have the hearts of more than a hundred million people in their hands. They must do their best or just stay away from the team. It is better to have a visible team of amateurs that can show determination to win, than to have a team of arrogant looking players strolling around the pitch, and playing disgraceful games constantly. That being said, I wish the same threats and actions can also go to our under performing government officials in Nigeria to make them to sit up. It is not by force to serve Nigeria. If we must serve our country, we must put in our best. If our best is not enough, then we must resign and stay away to give other people the chance to do their best too. Finally, I don't pray that the threat should be carried out. Sani Kaita must learn from the threats to sit up or ship himself out of the team with his fellow overfed colleagues. |
