sintolord: Just Emmanuel have been advertising LG inverter ac for sale. I bought 2 from him, only to realize that this AC's are not made by LG and they don't have inverter compressor. See the the pictures below. The company that manufactured the AC is called LGEFF Electronics. I tried googling about this company and came up with nothing. After installing it, the AC behaved exactly like the normal AC with a normal surge. The LG logo print on the AC is poorly done. Each time I compare these AC's with the ones I bought from LG outlet(Fouani), there is a world of difference. I wasted money. I would have bought Hisense inverter AC for the same price. I called just Emmanuel and told him about all my observation, he was insisting the AC is made by LG & it has inverter compressor. I also bought 10mm2 PV cable from him at a very cheap price, only to discover that, it's not 10mm2 but somewhere btw 6mm2 & 8mm2. Olopan can bear witness. I personally will never have any dealing with Just Emmanuel. Similar to this man's experience, I purchased a DC iron from Emmanuel sometime last year. I inquire about the hotness of the iron before making the purchase and he assured me that it was very hot. Sadly, I made payment, had a lot of issues collecting the item from the transport company used, and finally tested the product. The performance was less than expected. I chatted him up and his response was that o was the only one that had complained about the product and I shouldn't expect a DC iron to perform like an AC iron. I wasn't seeking a refund. I was just not okay with the said product. The experience was indeed a terrible one. The iron has been in my box since then. |

davodyguy: All 10 lights weigh 2 kg.
Let's assume the highest shipping cost per kg is ₦5,500(which is still high compared to what I pay), this gives us ₦11,000.
Cost of 10 lights is ₦8,400 + Cost of shipping 10 lights to Ajao Estate Lagos is ₦11,000 + Transportation from my office to pick it up is ₦2000
Total: ₦2000+₦11,000+₦8400= ₦21,400
Let's add profit margin of 50% of cost = ₦17,200
Profit + Cost= selling price ₦17,200 + ₦21,400= ₦38,600
₦38,600/10 items Each item should be ₦3,860.
Let's just even increase everything, this takes us to ₦5,000 per unit.
At ₦5,000 per unit he's making over 50% as profit.
₦10,000 per item is greed Please link me with your shipper. |

davodyguy: We often attribute all forms of inflationary causes to the government, forgetting some Nigerians are greedy.
The first image is a well light advertised on Jumia at ₦10,000 each.
I bought 10 of this same light this week on Alibaba for ₦8400, that's ₦840 each
The second image is the evidence of my purchase, so it's not as if I'm making mouth with lies. How do you handle shipping? Won't the price increase significantly once that is factored in? But then, you can't rule out the fact that sellers inflate prices. |

Ps. This will be a long read. Biko helpe. Good morning to all the gurus in the house. Please I have some questions and need some help. I'd really appreciate some answers. My case is peculiar I am still in the process of building my house, with plans of moving in in the next 4 months. We are almost at the electrical wiring phase. Here's the major constraint regarding the site. 1. NEPA light is yet to get there. There is power supply on other streets but not on mine yet. 2. The location is still largely inhabited. There are only 5 families on the street with a lot of bush around. That being said, I'd be relying fully on solar and gen to power my appliances. There has also been no recent incident of crime, but security is my priority. Here's what I have in mind that needs some vetting. 1. During the piping, I asked the electrician to split the load. I purchased two DBs and requested that all lighting (internal and external) be sent to one box, while the second is left to carry other loads. My reason for this is because, I don't want my lights (especially external) to go off at night even if the house is not powered. Overall, I estimate that lighting may consume 150 watts and run for about 11 hours. Is this a good setup to adopt? To this effect, I already purchase 6 used 200 watts panels from Oga valto. I already have a 1kva mercury inverter setup. However, I'll be disposing my current batteries for 2 200ah batteries to support my lighting needs. What else do I need to add to this setup to make it functional? For the internal load, priority is one freezers (make my madam no kill me). Other things like TVs and fans come in once in a while. I am estimating about 700 watts for the entire freezing load, expected to run for 8 hours daily. Once in a while a 1000 watts iron may come up or a 1hp pumping machine. Other loads such as TVs and fans come up to about 300 watts and should run for about 5 hours daily. Can someone please help with a breakdown of what I need to achieve this? Let me start saving. I am not also looking to get everything done at once. I can upgrade in the future. Cc NiyiOmoIyunade ojeysky mcTrinity earthrealm ceaser iygeal |

To my ogas in the house, please I have a few questions concerning my build - particularly on doors and tiling.
I am almost through with my interior plastering and the mason is not plastering the bathroom walls and the kitchen. According to him, the tiler will handle that. He says I'll be wasting money if I plaster it because the title will do it again. cc Spyder880 N3xt, what's your take on this?
Secondly, does anyone here have experience using American Panel doors? Someone is recommending wooding doors for the interiors. However, my experience with wooden doors is that they start falling apart after several years.
PS: My budget per interior door is 30-35k.
Thanks, guys. |

n3xt: ________ He has clarified his reasons. Look at it from this angle. A few weeks ago, I posted the quotation I was given for plastering and the person requested for 110 bags of cement for a 3 bedroom in addition to nearly 300k as workmanship. Spyder880 said it was far too much. Someone else came to quote and we arrived at 60 bags. Now, imagine I didn't bring it here or didn't get external opinion or someone said he can't review the quote because he won't be the one to handle the job. I hope you understand my point now. Have a nice day sir. |

michlins: why I can't review quotation is because location and price differs from place to place. There are discrepancies on the prices of materials I saw there but I am not buying these and don't understand the local market to be able to determine whether they're high or low.
Another thing is that when I give someone a quotation, I will tell you the total cost my labor inclusive. Asking for the individual number of materials is where you get ripped off.
You will agree with me that the price of materials at your location was far expensive from what is obtainable in my location that you even suggested that I source some of the materials for you from my end. Yes, you are right. I see where you are coming from. You could have stated that you can't review the quotation because of price discrepancies. Thanks. |
Properties › Re: General Topic Thread-To Discuss Anything And Everything in Building Construction by JustCryptos: 7:29am On Jan 02, 2021 |
michlins: sir this is something I can not do. Review the quotation of another person job. He's the person working and knows what he needs. If you think it's too high, check another person and review.
Thanks for your understanding I think you need to work on this principle. You did something similar to me when I asked to help me check the quotation I got for protectors. Considering the fact that we are all here to help each other, I think if you see someone being ripped off, you should be able to say something. Personally, I believe that workmen shouldn't get a penny from the materials that they quote. Include what ever gain you want to make in your workmanship. It's for this same reason 2 roofers lost their contract with me. In addition to their workmanship, they inflated the measurement for the roof to include an extra 100k. They didn't expect me to go straight to the company and ask for an installer. So, my brother. I think you should be able to review. There should be a charge for workmanship there. This guy should not be ripped off on materials as well. Thanks. |

Projection is looking at the end of February before everything normalize.

You see you took care and hit the right artisan. As far as materials I think we overbuild in Nigeria.
One of us here, I forgot his name wanted to do a roof with just solar panels. I told him it wouldn’t work and gave him other options instead of just putting the solar panels on wood rafters without aluminum.
It ended in disaster that’s what I’m talking about.
So I don’t scrimp on foundation or roof. My roofs here are .45 long span. Can you highlight some areas where we overbuild? |

n3xt: You need a low water to cement ratio when working on projects like this to achieve maximum strength.
If too much water is used, it will evaporate leaving air pockets which makes the slab weak.
Do 0.42pt water, 1pt cement, 2pt sand and 3pt granite. It’s important you use concrete mixer for a project like this. As I no come get concrete mixer nko? |
