Bag of cement now been sold at N3150 To N3200 in some part of Abeokuta. Something that i bought N3300 late last year. I think the price will come down soon

In Igwruta in Port Harcourt, I was told 4,000. At marine base in Port Harcourt 3,600.

Please does anyone know a cheaper place I can buy in Port Harcourt?

________

He has clarified his reasons. Look at it from this angle. A few weeks ago, I posted the quotation I was given for plastering and the person requested for 110 bags of cement for a 3 bedroom in addition to nearly 300k as workmanship. Spyder880 said it was far too much. Someone else came to quote and we arrived at 60 bags.

Now, imagine I didn't bring it here or didn't get external opinion or someone said he can't review the quote because he won't be the one to handle the job.

I hope you understand my point now.
Have a nice day sir.

why I can't review quotation is because location and price differs from place to place. There are discrepancies on the prices of materials I saw there but I am not buying these and don't understand the local market to be able to determine whether they're high or low.

Another thing is that when I give someone a quotation, I will tell you the total cost my labor inclusive. Asking for the individual number of materials is where you get ripped off.

You will agree with me that the price of materials at your location was far expensive from what is obtainable in my location that you even suggested that I source some of the materials for you from my end.

Yes, you are right. I see where you are coming from. You could have stated that you can't review the quotation because of price discrepancies. Thanks.

sir this is something I can not do. Review the quotation of another person job. He's the person working and knows what he needs. If you think it's too high, check another person and review.

Thanks for your understanding
I think you need to work on this principle. You did something similar to me when I asked to help me check the quotation I got for protectors.

Considering the fact that we are all here to help each other, I think if you see someone being ripped off, you should be able to say something.

Personally, I believe that workmen shouldn't get a penny from the materials that they quote. Include what ever gain you want to make in your workmanship.

It's for this same reason 2 roofers lost their contract with me. In addition to their workmanship, they inflated the measurement for the roof to include an extra 100k. They didn't expect me to go straight to the company and ask for an installer.

So, my brother. I think you should be able to review. There should be a charge for workmanship there. This guy should not be ripped off on materials as well. Thanks.

I don’t want to sound negative but if you can stock cement at 3,000 or 3,100 now. It’s best to do so as unconfirmed source have it that the current situation is unlikely to end soon.

Projection is looking at the end of February before everything normalize.

_____
I also want to encourage people to start looking into precast elements and pre-mixed concrete.
If I have funds, that’s a business I’ll be doing right now grin

A bag of cement in some parts of Rivers State is now #5,000. I have put my plastering on hold after purchasing gum sand this morning. We'll definitely wait this one out.

Thanks

We’re saying the same thing.

You see you took care and hit the right artisan. As far as materials I think we overbuild in Nigeria.

One of us here, I forgot his name wanted to do a roof with just solar panels. I told him it wouldn’t work and gave him other options instead of just putting the solar panels on wood rafters without aluminum.

It ended in disaster that’s what I’m talking about.

So I don’t scrimp on foundation or roof. My roofs here are .45 long span.

Can you highlight some areas where we overbuild?

You need a low water to cement ratio when working on projects like this to achieve maximum strength.

If too much water is used, it will evaporate leaving air pockets which makes the slab weak.

Do 0.42pt water, 1pt cement, 2pt sand and 3pt granite. It’s important you use concrete mixer for a project like this.

As I no come get concrete mixer nko?

Yes, I live in Nigeria. Never travelled out as a matter of fact. However, education should make you think out of the box.

For me, it's all about functionality and cost. Is it cheaper? Is it better? Is it durable? Is it safe?

1. Plywood should work. With some sanding, you can achieve that fine look.

2. I intend to do a small text run with my kitchen or dinning before deciding on tiling or not.

For creative minds only, DIY concrete and wood countertop idea.

Lovely. Over the next few months, I'll start buying my DIY tools.

In-between, what's the mix ratio? Can our regular sand and cement mixture achieve this?

To the gurus in the house... I have a few questions.

1. What's your take on concrete countertops as opposed to HDF, MDF, or marble.

2. Is concrete flooring/polishing a cheaper alternative to tiling?

For some context, once I am through with plastering, I am seriously considering a lot of DIY for the remaining part of the house, particularly cabinets, wardrobes, chairs, and flooring.

Use the Intelligent charge option as indicated. U can use it for batteries up to 400ah, either 4pcs of ur 100ah in parallel or 100ah x 2 in series (2 banks).

But be mindful, just like a dead person, the charger can't wake up a dead battery but can restore an ailing one. All the best....

Thanks man

I have finally picked up the pulse repair charger from kie kie. I am hoping that it will be able to repair my 4 100amp batteries. Some quick questions for the gurus before me.

1. What settings should I use - I see lithium/common battery, manual/intelligent, and a knob.

2. Can I connect two batteries at a time in series?

I have hooked up one battery and the starting readings are 13.8v/2.4A. It's on intelligent charge and the knob is all the way to the left (counter-clockwise).

Quick update to the house. Over the last week, I picked up 6 used 200w solar panels from Valto. Deal went well.

I also purchased the 12v DC iron from justemmanuel. Deal also went well. The DC iron heats up just fine. Not enough to burn a cloth but a considerable alternative to using gen to iron.

Thanks to both of them

I'm going to 21 years, I've nothing, I can't even afford recharge card, I'm broke, I haven't bought a single clothes since this year and I've only 2 boxers which are bad.

If school finally resume maybe next year, I won't have clothes to wear, no money to rent house, everything is just going downhill.

All my friends are buying the lastest iphones, when I asked them how they make money or begged them to teach me, they won't reply.

I'm just tired of everything, motivation isn't there because I can think of something to change my situation.

I need advice please

I'll have to break it to you sir. There's nothing anyone here can say or do to help you. So, your problem is to buy cloths and the latest iPhones? My friend you are not serious.

First, who is funding your education? Are you independent? What were you doing or using to fund your education prior to this time (of you are independent)?

Like someone said above, building wealth is a process. If you cannot discipline yourself to browse the internet and learn, once again sorry for you. Nobody is going to spoon feed you. There are so many threads here to help you. So, get to work.

Good luck.

as I have explained always, these doors can be used for interior and exterior needs.
About the toilet aspect, I will suggest that you use these aluminum doors cause of the water splashes (no steel can survive caustic soda from soap no matter how strong it is. Just give it time and the water will ruin it)
The doors can be customized as to your needs from the size of the frames which can be 5",6" or more. The doors sizes can be customized too.
About the locks, it's dealers choice but I always tell people to buy at least the quality on the door in review cause the cost of replacing the locks always offset the little savings you're trying to make.
The price of the door is 20,000 and 30,000 for the 3ft and 4ft respectively.
Kindly contact me with the attached detail

Chairman, you don get business card too? Please message me.

At the bold I'll figure out a simple explanation without making it lengthy.

Average is 3 bags for that size of room. I think you should ask your engineer what mix ratio he intends to use. Better you be at the site to check the work methodology on the first day or keep a trusted eye.

I checked your profile and it reads Port Harcourt. PHC has 2 types of plastering sand-- gum and power form. The gum is mixed with soft sand(sharp sand), the other is used alone. If he intends to use only sharp sand(soft sand) probably it's not completely sharp meaning it does not have teeth enabling you to have a smooth surface after shining.

Thanks. I get it now.
I'll ask the bricklayer about his mix. And I estimated 5 bags per room (which I think is an overkill) but got 80 bags for interior and exterior.
