@ominni @makano @frankrobon1 @justmellow and others pls can the below be used.. my bro is NOK reason gratuity was sent to him but family already agreed it be used for this purpose. Can it serve as my POF. I am a married woman. I teach and run a side business. Please help respond

Hello Chinnychappy,

If there is evidence of the gratuity payment entering your brother's account, it can be used as POF. The evidence is to justify the term deposit into your account from your brother. Given your marital status, instead of the money being paid into your account meant for the SP application purpose, collect the money using a different account and utilize it to pay off your tuition for the first year. Your brother can also write you a letter of support and ensure that your spouse also plays a financial role.

Please guys, I need some input on this from anyone who might have experienced same thing

I worked for my uncle's private company between 2016 - 2018 and there was no official letter issued. Will a reference letter from the company suffice to proof that I worked with them? Just the reference letter No payslip or job offer letter and it's been over 4 years I left there.

Please Anon123, Makano, Ketima, Justmellow, Lekiboboe, Teemenzo and others

Hello Toceen2022,

Except for the reason of using the previous employment letter/information to demonstrate your employability in your country or intention to come back to work for your uncle in what happens to be a future job offer, the reference letter will suffice. Do well to include your current employment information.

Please my uncle is my sponsor and there is 20m in his account. I already have statements of account and affidavit of sponsorship. What I want to ask is do I need to ask for his pay slip since its a personal saving account and do I need his ID card? Please what do can I ask him to give to me... I'm going for an undergraduate

Hello Johnwisdom1032,

You will need to provide as many relevant documents as possible, including his payslip or CAC if he is self-sponsored, ID card, investments evidence, properties, proof of relationship to you, etc.

Your uncle is a third-party sponsor and it will help your application if he pays your first-year tuition and has your LE transferred to you given the high cost of UG study in Canada.

If i may ask what kind of visa the family will apply for when they are ready to join primary applicant?

Hello Gokoyer1401,

The spouse can apply for either a visitor's visa or SOWP whilst the children can apply for the visitor's visa or study permit.

Good Morning Everyone

I hope everyone is having a good day

I have a study permit that is expiring on the 11th of June, 2022 because of my passport.

I am renewing my passport at the moment but it is still yet to come so

I would like to know if I can start my application for study permit renewal without the new passport and I would like to know how I can go about the matter??

If there is anything else I need to know about, please kindly share

Thank you very much

Hello EPICUnleashed,

Apologies for my late response. It will make no difference if you extend your study permit using the soon-so-be expired passport because the new permit will also be issued within the validity duration of the PP. First, get your PP before applying for an extension otherwise you have to spend another fund renewing your permit again.

You should stop studying once you are out of status, but can keep studying once you have applied to extend your permit even before a decision is reached. Go to Nigeria embassy in Ottawa to renew your PP. For further guidance, speak to your school's international office or immigration advisor.

Hello great people.
Please be kind enough to help me out. I have been an ardent follower of UK and Aussie migration routes so I didnt try to know much about Canny waka.
My scenario
I got disappointed by my UK school and I immediately read through this thread and eventually got an admission offer from a College in Ontario for September intake for a course of 8months with a total tuition fee of $17k
I need to pay $9.6k for acceptance but the issue is I have just the tuition fee and not the living expenses of $10k.
Also, I am far gone in my Aussie movement and can get PR anytime soon so not too keen about the Canada PGWP even though I want it.
Strong ties is a business, landed inheritance, nuclear and aged parent.
Please advise:
Will the course duration pose a problem at the visa office?
Can a gift deed of over $10k affect my chances?
Can I get study loans for that duration also considering that it is from a college?
If there are loan agents willing to offer a loan, and I present a Canadian cosigner, will this also affect my application?
Can I use a loan from an individual and show evidence of same?
Should I mention my Australian visa application during interview?
My tuition deposit for the UK school is yet to drop in my account, can I initiate another form A payment? ie if it still works.
Should I even try to go further?

So sorry for the epistle and help me out.
Thanks

Hello Bomsilaga,

As you may know already, Aussie and Canada share information. It will be wise to declare what you have going on with the Aussies. Aside from this, if the delay with your Aussie PR application that's why you are intending to apply for the Canadian study permit, IRCC may also give you a run for your patience.

Except that the PR application is not sure, then it will be a good idea to proceed with your study plans in Canada, which also serves as a good backup. Australia is a very good country with almost the same way of life as Canada and New Zealand, but more expensive to live in.

The length of your program will not pose any harm to your study permit application nor will a financial deed gift. If you intend to get a study loan from an individual or any persons not related to you, it will be wise not to tag it as a study loan as it may reduce the ability to demonstrate your level of economic establishment in your country. Rather it could be tagged as a loan/debt repayment or return on investment backed with adequate documentation.

AOlalere:
Hello everyone, please if my dad is my sponsor but is willing to transfer the full tuition and living expense to my account since it is a PGC for one year. Do I still need to provide any documents relating to him? If yes, what documents do I need to show? I will be providing my bank statement showing the funds in my account and a gift letter already. Secondly, if I am granted a study leave by my company, asides the employment letter and study leave approval letter, what else do I need to provide? Thirdly, I heard that travel history is a reason for refusal, I have a new passport with no visa on it as I have not travelled outside Nigeria before. I am concerned that this may crop up, has anyone experienced this issue and was refused visa? Lastly, where can I get a template for study leave letter and gift letter? Thanks in anticipation of your response.

Hello AOlalere,

Considering the length of your program, there is no need for your dad to transfer the funds to you. It will make a lot of sense if he pays your full tuition directly from his account since he's your sponsor. The LE alone can be transferred to you. Leave the gift deed alone and let your dad support your application with the Letter of Sponsorship. Any lump sum should be addressed adequately.

It will help your application very well if you provided relevant and sufficient documents of your sponsor that justify his employment (sources of funds), economic establishments, etc. There are never too many documents, especially if it is required to explain, prove, or justify your situation.

Ensure you include your payslips, ID card, awards, promotion letter(s), as well as documents that prove your economic establishments (home ties), etc.

Focus more on demonstrating solid socioeconomic home ties than worry about your fresh passport. There have been a lot of applicants that got approved without any travel history or experience. What matters is demonstrating you have a genuine intent to study and will depart upon the authorized stay in Canada. You can also tell the officer about your intra-country tours.

Sir. Frankrobbn, Justmellow and other big men in the house;

Can one get financial support"easily through scholarship and student loan;

and can one obtain parmanent resident after completion of Master degree program (2years) on scholarship....

Hello Derekxxy,

Studying in a postsecondary institution and program makes an international graduate eligible for a PGWP and thereafter a PR if the scholarship is issued by an academic institution, notable individual, private or corporate, or multinational. In SOME cases, scholarships sponsored by a partner country or a Government of a country MAY not be eligible to apply for a residency. It depends if the scholarship has this type of clause. In this case, it is the international student's responsibility to enquire from the issuing body about the rules and regulations that guide the scholarship program.

How easy in securing a scholarship depends on the level of knowledge work invested in the process. I will say painstakingly. For study loans, MPower Finance amongst others has made study loans very flexible if you can secure an admission to one of its partnered and/or recognized Universities. You can also get it from family, friends, religious bodies, etc.

Will look forward to hearing from you. @makano @lekiboboe @justmellow @ominni @frankrobon1 @scott99tish @Anon

Hello Roffy3,

The strike action would have been a good opportunity to leverage in justifying your reason(s) for wanting to study in Canada if the class level was 100 or 200. It won't be reasonable that a final year student will restart at the Diploma study level given the time already spent. Though nothing is impossible. If you have sufficient funds for a Bachelor's and a resilient fighter, I will say good, go ahead. If not, be patient to complete your studies in your country.

If you consider applying without declaring the ongoing undergraduate program, ensure to fill the gaps with passed and active activities related to the proposed study.

@makano @lekiboboe @justmellow @ominni @frankrobon1 @scott99tish @Anon and other gurus. Please I need your sincere advice, I got a PhD admission at Dalhousie university and planning with my spouse and three kids. I am applying with a third party sponsor, my questions:
1. Is it adequate if my sponsor gift me around 12m which is enough to pay my first year tuition and our living expenses.
2. With adding my physical assets valuation document also count.
3. Can I ask my Dad to do deed of gifts to transfer some of his assets to me
4. Can also add my late mum gratuity papers worth 6m as POF.
5. With it be acceptable if I ask my employer (a Fed. College of Education) to provide a study leave for me to provide my home tie.
6. Can I also use my assets and deed of gifts to prove home tie.
7. Is it compulsory to pay tuition before application.
Thanks as I await from professional responses

Hello TonyDeAnalyst,

Despite receiving full funding to study for your Ph.D. program, put in a single application. After your first semester or 3 months later, you can apply for them to join you. For now, use your family as a tie.

It makes no sense that a third party will sponsor 2 adults and their 3 children. Paying the full tuition in the case that your program is not partially funded, may not be enough to convince the VO that you don't have an immigration intent. Your sponsor doesn't need to do a Financial Deed Gift rather the Letter of Sponsorship covers the earmarked sponsorship funds, the financial responsibility, and the sponsorship intentions.

Property gifts from parents, as well as financial inheritance, serve as good ties, including the study leave approval letter, assets, family, etc. Paying the tuition is not compulsory, but pay it if the money is available. The gratuity will help your financial demonstration if it is accessible to you.

Best of Luck.

The bolded is not 100% correct. I thought that way before 2018 and missed Mastercard scholarship. I have a friend that applied anyways. Funny enough, it was Mastercard that organize PR and work permit session for them towards the end of their program. The guy is a PR now. My advise, except it is IRCC scholarship that says so or you have another scholarship without that requirement, apply and wait till the end.

Hello Osemigho,

Been a while! I agree with you, but neither is Toceen2022 wrong. He said some. Some funding that is given to international students especially if it is a government sponsored like the Kingdom of Saudi, the Chinese Government, etc. COULD come with a clause to return to their country after study. In some situation, some international graduates whose funding have such condition have gotten PRs.

Almost recently, before the pandemic, international students that got funding from Global Affairs Canada were not eligible for the PGWP, with the clause now suspended after gradual ease. Maybe your friend was amongst the beneficiaries.

Hello gurus in the house. Please I need your input on this. I had HND in computer science in 2014 but been working as a firefighter since 2016. I want to apply for a program in IT (cyber security). Do I stand a chance of visa approval. Please advice a brother. @frankrobbn1, @makano, @justmellow @ominnii @lekibobo

Hello OLAMINREWA,

It is not an entirely wrong idea to settle for a Cybersecurity study if you can relate it to your work experience given your UG background in Computer Science. First, restructure your résume/CV to read that you have worked and/or currently working in the IT/Technical/Data Analysis department in your firefighting organization.

Your job responsibilities and extra-curricular activities should show you have and still discharging the duties related to or in cybersecurity. Secondly, use your SOP to relate your purpose, intentions, and plans for the study, etc. along with your employment information to corroborate the fact. If you have no idea or are confused about relating or connecting this in your study plan or SOP, if you wish, you can reach out to GCMSWriters on IG, Twitter, or Telegram, for assistance with the writing.

On the other note, you can look at Occupational Health & Safety courses or search for institutions that offer firefighting courses.

obaalasepe:
Can my husband do a gift of deed for me? I can't use him as my sponsor because of his

Hello Obaalasepe,

I don't think there is a need for your spouse to do a Deed Gift, rather ask him to write you a Letter of Support for that amount he will transfer to your bank account. To justify the lump sum from his end, in the letter, he can state the transfer information i.e. name of the recipient, the purpose of the money transfer, account details (from/to), date of the transfer, amount, etc. Also, do the same with a letter.

As a married individual, using a sponsor other than your spouse weakens you or your family's (spouse) level of establishment in your home country. In this case, ensure you:

• show adequate proof of relationship to the potential sponsor;

• pay your full tuition for the first year if your program is 2 years;

• include your personal bank account that is sufficient and equivalent to your LE, your and your spouse's employment information including your study leave;

• if possible, the funds your spouse is to do a deed of gift should be fixed in a fixed deposit for a liquidation period before or one month to the resumption of classes, with a good reason for setting up the fxd. This is another way to avoid a lump sum.

Hello Ojb555666,

Don't input the tuition amount as NGN 1m or above. Leave it at NGN 950,000 or below. You can always click to add a new payment to make multiple payments or start a new payment to pay the completing tuition.

You may find it very tedious paying with your card, use your internet mobile banking or bank App from your phone.

Ensure you input the generated payment code attached in the sent email to you in the transaction as the payment narrative.

Hello shankeybee,

It depends on how you are presenting it. If your other accounts to be used are sufficient, then you can include the pension statement. If not, don't. If you are using it as evidence to demonstrate your (economic) home tie, it is still wise for your other bank accounts to have good sitting balances. This helps you demonstrate a good level of your economic establishment.

When paying for NBCC through paymytuition, go to your student care portal and login to your page, then you sroll down to payment.
Then follow all the steps in the form, when you get a place you will see your payment choice, pick others, then click on USD or if it is CAD you want to pay with, then submit the form and paymytuition will send payment instructions to you.
Then you will now go to fill your form A form with the payment advice paymytuition will send to your mail.
Peace

Hello AbionaT,

Except the situation has since changed. However, from my findings, the only bank account number generated by PayMyTuition is a "virtual bank account number" with Wema bank. Central Bank or the regular banks will never approve funds to be transferred or paid into such a bank account that cannot be verified as a "regular bank account number" from the bank's database system.

What happens when the spouse finishes studying and apply for PGWP?

Will the SOWP be renewed/extended?

Hello Amila20042001,

The spouse of the international graduate can always apply for an OWP. Also, the spouse can decide to apply for a PR through the PNP or other provincial program available after acquiring one year of work experience or of living in the province and include the international student/graduate and the rest family members in the application. Within Canada, there are several programs to become PR, the right questions just need to be asked as well as keeping the right circle.

Hello Freedomtours,

For a Master's degree, WAEC or NECO is not required. You only need your First degree certificate and transcript.

Trying to reach out to the administrative secretary or program coordinator via email to explain the transcript situation. Give the reason for your school's closure and plead for an extension. You can attach published evidence about the ongoing strike action to your email.

If you can reach out to your course advisor via phone, do so and ask for help. Despite the strike action, some schools are still open to staff. You may want to visit in person and see how to pull some plugs.

Hello Lezy,

You don't. If it is required, it will be requested by IRCC. However, you can include the expired clearance certificate coupled with a brief explanation of the difficulty to get a renewed copy. The police clearance is mostly mandated for the EE route. Though including a copy will hasting the processing of your application as the verification process of your background check in that country will be swift.

What is meant to be in the context of the webform concerning deferring admission ?

Hello Malone122,

You don't need to explain. You can simply state the SUBJECT: updated LOA or Letter of Admission.

If you must give a reason, it could be the close deadline to enrol for classes due to the delay in the finalization of your application if this is the case. If you are for the Fall 2022 term, you may want to wait a while before sending in the updated LOA.
