He already got an admission in University of Manitoba.However,for a "University 1" program. The intended course was not captured on the OL as students are expected to chose a course after the program. In this case,can he state a related course(related to current work)in his SOP and probably go for the desired one after the program.

Hello Godpikin4,

While drawing the attention of the officer to the University 1 program, ensure to tell the officer about the relevance of the learning, and also guide the officer to understand the significance of the 'primary proposed course' of the said person's career interest after completing the preliminary study.

Hello again,

It is very possible. Any decision reached should have a justification on the part of PA.

lapazi:
Hi guys, please can I get a sample sponsorship letter and do I need to notarise it?

Secondly, what is Article of association and memorandum and how do I go abt this?

My sponsor is a company that I am a board member/co-founder, this is different from my current employment (because I have a 9-5 ), and the said company is my sole sponsor. How do I go abt this without raising any red flags?

How do I bring my 9-5 into this picture without coming off as deceptive or should I be silent on it?

I have fully paid tuition for first semester and I have 6 months bank statement of my sponsor (Turnover abt N1b).

I plan to also add value of personal properties example lands and 2015 accord. both worth over 10m.

Please I need guidance to do this properly.

Hello Lapazi,

You do not need to notarize any of your documentation, it is optional. An Article of Association/Memert shows the share capital of the limited company and the directors according to shares. If it is not available to you, get a lawyer to draft one for your use.

Do not use a company sponsorship except the company are willing and has committed financially toward your study. Instead of paying for the first-year semester, make it the full session and have your maintenance cost transferred to you coupled with an adequate explanation for the term deposit. The same applies even if you are a board member.

Ensure to also include a board resolution letter for the decision reached, budgeted amount, liquidated amount, etc. to be committed to such sponsorship intention. The company can be an investment you are part of where your regular 9 - 5 salary and other earnings go into, and your 9 - 5 can be your primary income source. If the pay isn't sufficient, help the officer understand it is based on your passion, especially if it relates to your proposed study. But again, you will have to help the officer understand how you were able to invest in this said company.

Anything you do, you still have to provide your bank record to show your earnings and cash flows to either or both income sources. If you think a company sponsorship will be stressful for you to justify, you can use a related individual for your application. The funds from the company can be used to pay your tuition, demonstrate your maintenance cost, as well as run your account if your account is insufficient.

Kindly note that these suggestions are based on the information you provided in your post and may not be accurately fitted to cover grey areas in your application. Only filter what is valuable and discard the rest.

Thank you for taking your time out to advise people here.

Please,for someone working in a telecom company and plans to get a degree in a health related course...would this be an issue?
Also note that his first degree is B.A

Thank you.

Hello Godpikin4,

It may be difficult to convince the office of a study progression or being a genuine student, especially if PA does not have prior work exposure in the health field. It will be best to maintain a related exposure to a work experience if it has been 3 years or more (my suggestion) the individual has been out of school and/or previous studies if within 1 – 2 years (also my suggestion).

Please I need advice from you all, my passport expires next year July and I’m about gathering all my documents to apply for my study permit for resumption May 2023. Im thinking of applying for a new passport before applying for my study permit. Please note the reason I will be allowed to apply for a new one now is because I just got married and I will be changing the surname to my husband name. Please also note that the date I got for capturing is mid December or should I go ahead and apply for a new passport while using my old passport to apply for my study permit and then update IRCC when the new passport is out. Thank you. Please I need advice

Hello Ameliag,

Congratulations!

If I am correct, 9 months is still a long time. Apply with what you have now and when you get PPR, update your passport information with IRCC. It is safe to include a succinct letter to guide the understanding of the officer.

Please, how do I know when my eligibility starts? I submitted online on July 13th.

Kindly help.
Thanks.

Hello SoftdudeKay,

Your eligibility will be updated on your online account once it starts, but this is not usually the case in recent times. You can also request your notes to find out. You can also reach out to an MP in your DLI region for assistance to help you enquire on your behalf or get someone in Canada to help you try to reach IRCC on a local call.

Thanks much...in this case I have gotten my Study Permit.. contemplating on changing programs..just wanted to know if I can change to a diploma programme..mailed my school tho
Thanks for your response

Hello KRTL,

It will be best to maintain the program level you got approved for. Since the change of rules regarding program/DLI change by IRCC, it is not clear yet to fully understand the impact on PGWP in real life.

Only if you can justify your reasons for such an action/decision, then it's fine. If not, it MAY cause an issue during your PGWP if adequate justification is not provided. It is up to the VO to apply discretion. Changing your institution is fine, but it will be wise to maintain your program level.

Your school will always agree to change your program. You can speak to your DLI immigration advisor or interview recent international graduates.

Long post alert!!!

My timeline and docs.

First application October 13 2021
Refusal February 17 2022

Second application July 13
Eligibility August 27
Medical passed September 2
BVL October 14
PPR October 14
School - Confederation college

This time I decided to take my time and address all the previous denial concerns which was personal assets and finances.

For my SOP and LOE, i did a draft of how i wanted my SOP to look like and thanks to gcmswriters for helping with writing, reviewing my sop.

What i did differently from my previous application was that i became self sponsored, i had my mom instruct her debtor to pay the 22M he owed to my account which was what I explained in the LOE as it was a debt repayment. This of course i backed with the loan agreement docs, transfer slips.

Also paid my full tuition out of the money and also set up a GIC account to further clear any doubt that the money was just for show. After all of this i also showed an MBS of 13M in liquid cash and stated so in my LOE that i have been handed over all the money for my school and i have full control (clarifying doubts that maybe the money might not be available to me)

For the properties i used this as further proof of funds and also ties. Very important!
I did a gift deed of a duplex from my father to me to show ties and personal asset.

School Documents (Neco result, B.eng Certificate, Transcripts)
Admission Letter
International Passport Data Page
Passport Picture
CV
Tuition receipt (full tuition paid $16k)
Filled IMM Application Forms (study permit & family form)
Nysc discharge certificate
Project management Certification.
Statement of Purpose (3 page)
LOE (addressing my previous denial in February and the changes i have made and also explaining lump sum of 22M)
Police clearance
Work Documents (Company Registration documents, Employment documents, work ID card, leave letter, reference letter)
Birth Certificate
NIN
Parent's international passport, all my siblings international passports and birth certificates.
Pics with family.
Property valuation documents (sent this week via webform before my approval came because i was so worried and I decided to send more docs)
6months Personal Bank statement (MBS 13.8M)
GIC $10k
Letter of sponsorship from my parents.
Land documents of four properties of my parents and one property given to me as gift deed by my parents)
Business investment documents.
Letter of moral support from parents.
Affidavit of return by parents.
Previous travel stamps (dubai, kenya)
Car docs (2cars)
Covid 19 vaccine certificate.

My special thanks to the team at travelout9ja.
I learnt so much from here too. Thanks to y’all.

I wish all expecting PPR success.

Hello Kikivanxx,

Biggest congratulations and thank you for the mention and show of appreciation. Glad the applied logic in drafting the letters worked. Thank you again for your trust.

Please, I was single as at when I submitted my application in July, but I got married last month. I am yet to get a response from IRCC. Do I need to inform them about my new marital status while sending my web form to them?

Kindly advise accordingly.
Thanks.

Hello SoftdudeKay,

If you intend for your spouse to join you and if you didn't declare being in a common-law relationship at the time of submission, it will be wise to inform IRCC by attaching the necessary evidence like the wedding invitation, marriage certificate, change of name (if done already), photos, etc.

If you notify IRCC after the application has been approved, the assessment of the authenticity of the union might pass through rigorous scrutiny. Though not like that which is conducted for the Express Entry system.

seems like this canada study visa is easy compared to dutchland.

please Gurus i’m a newbie on this thread tho i’ve read some of the previous thread regarding canada travel, i need some clarification to satisfy my curiosity.

i intend to apply for fall admission 2023, what’s the possibility of applying for an undergraduate study in computer science or related field with my ND cert in civil engineering? and also i’m into frontend development, will this act as an advantage on my SOP?

@Justmellow @peacelovejoy @joedave25

Hello Peanutbutterr,

With an ND, a Bachelor's study is a right and progressive academic path. It is your responsibility to show the availability of funds through a reliable and stable income source(s).

Given the high cost of a First degree in Canada, it will be wise to present an income source(s) that is sufficient. Having useful information to piece together is always an advantage when writing an SOP. Use it to expatiate your study intent, background exposure, study components, etc. as well as any discrepancies in your application.

Hello everyone,

I am trying to apply for a diploma program..and the requirement is SSCE or its equivalent ..does it mean I can apply for the program even though I already have a bachelors degree?

PS: I am aware of the PGD/PGC programs

Thank you all.

@frankrobbn
@justmellow
@makano
@anon
@technix

Hello KRTL,

The paramountcy of showing study progression is strictly a consideration when it concerns immigration. Typically, progressive education is settling to study at a level higher than the previous. This is not usually the case sometimes, as a student with higher academic exposure can likewise consider studying at a lower level due to so many reasons that should be clearly outlined and justified accordingly.

Giving convincing reasons will help the officer analyze the intent and significance of the study toward the student's developmental and/or career advancement. If the officer can be guided to understand the study progression in such a selected program, then proceed to apply for the study permit otherwise, the program should be changed to one that is appropriately demonstrating progression.

Annidenobeh:

Hi please how does putting the lump sum in fixed deposit help and what reasons could I possibly give for lump sum in my sponsors account

Hello Annidenobeh,

Locking a certain amount of funds in a verifiable and acceptable account gives assurance to the officer of demonstrating the availability of the funds when due. Before deciding to fix the funds, ensure to understand how and/or if it would help the application's competitiveness. The liquidation period of the funds must be at least one month before class resumption. A lump sum can be justified by providing sufficient evidence of:

• Property sales
• Debt or loan repayment
• Gift
• Grant
• Inheritance
• Return on investment
• Savings or contributions
• Contracts
• Financial support (from membership associations, organizations, friends, family, etc.)
• Compensation funds
• etc

Many questions are unanswered here just because some bittered people here have pursued the GURUS of this Canada Student thread with their false accusations of fake PPRs. You all put in here that these knowledgeable people here like Frankrobbn1, Makano and Justmellow put in fake PPRs without any evidence or proof to support your false claims. In the past weeks or so, I have carefully read most of their posts and I can't see where any of them advertised themselves as agents only when you get to their BIO. Hello Cadygosh,

It's selfless of you to stand up on behalf of these guys. This type of issue is bound to always happen in an open forum. If area fit kill Jesus Christ who be revered father again.

Despite blogging on immigration matters on several travel fora, particularly on Quora where my posts do about 3.2k views and about 27.5k views, I am very thankful for Nairaland and for the opportunity to share my knowledge on its platform. It played a part to increase my growth. As well, I have never been shy to let people know my expertise in these fora where I am a permanent member.

If I spend time here helping people, I should also be able to tell people what I can do to assist them without violating the NL rules. I think NL should have a verifiable ribbon tag for its members. As simple or easy as it may seem, not everybody can package an application, write SOP/LOE, or request the GCMS Notes by themselves and that's why my Nairaland bio advertises this boldly and unapologetically.

To grow, I realized the essence of price-tagging my expertise. For testimonies, it is effortless. If people that have achieved success through my assistance are faithful enough to come back here to share their testimonies, the thread will always be flooded. A learned mind knows how easy it is to spot a fake testimony.

If I was being deceitful or misleading people here all these years, don't you trust what justwise would have done by now?! It is very important not to allow cyberbullying on this thread that is becoming rampant. This is not the news section or other sections of NL. The travel section is delicate and should be held in such esteem. The growth of this prestigious thread shouldn't be ruined because of trying to be a SAVAGE member.

Again, thank you for standing up!

Hello Angela2023,

There are other factors like your personal level of establishment in your country that is also a determinant, esp when using a third-party sponsorship.

In the aspect of study progression as presented in your post, you are on track. Since you have exposure in auxiliary nursing, opting to study practical nursing will be the best move that would easily aid you to explain your study intent and future ambition.

3 How long before they approve the visa?

Hello ChineduOC,

1. You can choose to use your account or create a new one. You can do the latter.

2. If you are using the GcKey, merge and upload to the Client Information section. If it is the IRCC Portal, merge and upload to the Additional Document section.

3. The current estimated processing time for the visitor's visa from outside Canada is 132 days.

4. Documents that back your POF, home ties, income sources, travel itinerary, as well as your spouse's SP, intro. letter, tuition payment receipt, etc.

• significance of the study to your career advancement or self-development;

• study features and how the study will aid your growth as a professional;

• why you are a perfect fit for the program;

• show good leadership quality and potential ability to be able to cope and excel in the program;

Hello Gascoigne462,

For sure, you can use the GIC as proof of available funds for your LE, especially if you have a series of lump sum deposits in your bank account to be used for your application.

If the program is for 2 years and in the case of lump sums, you can also decide to hold the tuition and LE in a fxd for the successive year, after offsetting the first year's tuition. The whole idea is to demonstrate the availability and accessibility of the funds.

Hello fam
I want know if letter of intent the same with statement of purpose (sop) or are they two different things

Secondly is it all schools that demand for school fees payment before one can differ admission due to inability to secure visa on time

my admission indicate shows that I am start by 1st of this month, I have written to my school for deferment for like 2 weeks now and they have not responded.

please what should I do in this regard.

Hello Freedomtours,

Both letters are sometimes used interchangeably and can as well pass as the same letters differentiated by titles. However, to a wider audience, both are not the same given the tone of writing.

The SOP for immigration or academics serves the purpose of explaining a study's intent and the overall significance of the study. While the LOE is popular for immigration purposes that help to address a refusal concern, respond to PFL or misrepresentation claims, or give clarity to an intricate situation.

Each DLI has its policy and demands a deposit from successful applicants to be considered as a student that enjoys certain privileges like scholarship, deferment, etc. My post does not speak for any DLI. To have adequate information, reach out to the DLI or read about the deferment policy on its website.

Note that some DLI require prospective students not attending a session to fill out a deferment form before such instruction will be honoured. Check the DLI's website for its deferment policy. You can send a reminder to your DLI and escalate to other departments—international, admissions, finance, or as it may be, for urgent assistance.

Hello house, So back in 2020 I had a remote programming job and earned USD monthly. I have legit employer payslips and Payoneer account deposit receipts and DOM account statement as proof.

My savings in DOM account is enough for POF.

Since 2021 Feb I’ve been doing freelance work with no salary earnings and I registered a company with CAC.

Do I need to pay myself from my company as proof of employment and home tie?

Or is my deed of assignment and payslips from the abroad company enough for my home ties?

Also, the said property address corresponds to where I live both on the passport page and everything.

Hello Guest911,

Present your organization as a sole proprietor enterprise stationed permanently in your country. This would help you demonstrate stronger home ties through its domestic operations.

To show the financial solvency and lucrativeness of the enterprise, the business activities can be described as blended operations. The world has gone digital and it is your job to help the officer to understand the gains of placing your organization in the inter-continental market to be able to connect and network without transborder barriers with your foreign business partners and/or clients. Attribute the foreign currency earnings to businesses executed with your foreign clients and/or partners in your country.

Include the business registration certificate, memorandum of association, article of association, Payoneer statement, bank reference letter, dollar statement, business ID, business receipt, govt-issued revenue certificates (if any), complimentary card, etc.

If you decide to be silent about the freelance, you can substitute the payslips with a service payment invoice or service purchase order collaborating the sums as reflected in the financial record(s).

You don't need to pay yourself. Since you are very sure that the domiciliary account is sufficient, you pass as self-employed. On a side note, you can as well claim to be a freelancer as a second income source, which you enjoy as an economic passion. This way, you get to present your payslips, or as applicable, without misrepresenting facts.

If you don't know how to go about drafting a compelling SOP/LOE, reach out via my Nairaland signature. It is not pro bono.

Hello Makibarbie,

Use the name conveyed by your passport or travel document. The marriage certificate and other supporting proof will inform the office of the situation.

Hi , Today made it 2 weeks since I joined this Thread And so far it's been Awesome , I have been able to learn about things that I didn't know before , I want to say a big Thank you to everyone. Your Questions and Answers , contributions and everything .

That being said , I'm still on the Journey to getting information and getting ready , It's a D.I.Y thing for me .

Please ,

1.Can anyone be kind enough to help with a sample of Statement of Purpose And CV , I'm going to go through them and use them as a guide while I prepare mine. Here is my email (agbonifokelly@gmail.com)

2. How will I be able to pay for my Application fees ? I understand our Naira Debit card doesn't work ?

3. I have a Joint and a Fixed Deposit Account ( They're together) With my Father , Inside the account contains all the money I need to show for POF , pay for my Full year tuition fee and etc .

The fixed Deposit contract with the Bank expires later in February 2023 , After February I'll then be able to have 100 Percent acess to the fund. I'm rooting to be part of the intake for the fall Entry of 2023.

I understand I can't use the Fixed Deposit Account for my student visa Application but I have a Question. When the contracts Expires in February 2023 , Can I push the money Into my own Personal Account , Then use the money as POF . I UNDERSTAND it will pop up as Lump-sum , but can I use the LOE to Explain How come the Lump-sum ? (This should include where the money came from by providing F.D documents to show that all these time the money has been in a fixed deposit Account that I opened with my Father )

Or Simply,

When it expires in February 2023 , Should I just remove my Dad's name from the Account , Then show document to proof that my Dad doesn't have access to the account Anymore.

N.B → I'm a fresh Graduate with No work experience

Please I'll really Appreciate the Response

Hello KellyTech007,

It seems you already have everything figured out. Nice one. There is no need to remove your father's name as a signatory to the account. Leave it be.

As a recent graduate, having your father as a sponsor in your application gives convincing assurance to the officer that funds will be readily available given the presence of his historic income source(s).

Owing that you and your dad are authorized signatories to the account, he can be the sole sponsor (preferably) or be a cosponsor of the study with you. Get a domiciliary card to initiate the application fee payment.

In anything you do, tie your economic prospect to your father's income source(s) and try to establish the fact that being a board member and intrapreneur in your father's organization paved way for you to become an authorized signatory and investment partner.

The fixing and liquidation certificates coupled with an LOE are enough justification to help the officer trace the history of the funds into the account to be used for the application.
