Greetings All!

Please I would really appreciate anyone who can give me guidance on how to obtain CAD/USD through CBN/bank so I can pay my rent. Buying at black market rate is really, really, really burning holes in my pocket.
Please advise based on your direct experience with the name of the bank and how much they allow one apply for+ how long it takes.

God bless.

Hello Bysolaro,

The CBN rate is available for tuition payments. The possibility of getting the same rate for paying rent may be tedious or not even possible. Speak with your account officer or bank for first-hand information.

Plz which is preferable in the new or old portal, I have started with the old portal already and my friends are saying I should use the new one instead.
Seems the new portal needs an upfront medicals right?

Hello Chubbyface,

The IRCC Portal allows a file size of 2MB whilst the GcKey account permits a 4MB file size. If your documents are little, you can consider the former. There is nothing 'so' special about the IRCC Portal. Some visit visa applications might be experiencing fast processing time, it is also not entirely different in processing pace with the SP submitted via the GcKey account.

Many applications submitted between late last year and early this year are currently caught in IRCC backlogs, and not necessarily for the reason of applying through the GcKey account. As mentioned earlier, consider the IRCC Portal if your documents are little or the GcKey account if they are much.

Elixosodi:
Greetings Gurus,

While applying for a study visa through the NSE route, if you pay your tuition from the estimated 30,000cad, would it also be seen as part of the proof of fund to complete the NSE fund?

My program is 1year and my tuition is 15,384 for that 1year and 10,000cad living expenses with 5kcad extra left. So if I pay my tuition from that fund, would it be counted as part of the NSE route estimated?

Thanks for all your responses.

Hello Elixosodi,

The NSE program is not adequate and the processing pace and/or system can now pass as the same as the regular route. No need to stress yourself to apply via the route or meet the requirements of the NSE. Almost all applications whether via the NSE or regular route are now processed the same based on my observations.

If you are considering applying through the NSE route, you should demonstrate the CDN$30,000 after tuition and LE. The VO doesn't expect you or your sponsor to empty your bank account for a foreign study.

Good evening everyone,
I'm new here and 1st time posting.
You all are doing a great job.
I got an admission with crandall University MOM 2years program, January intake.

I’m the one studying. My husband and I will be applying together. Our daughter is a US citizen so we won't be applying with her.

I'm confused with my POF and please I would like your opinions.
My mum is my sponsor (she's business woman). She’s paying for my 1year tuition fee (it’s a 2year program). my husband and I are paying for our living expenses for 1year by selling my husbands land, our siblings are giving us some money also (doing a gift deed). We have the cash for 1st year.

My questions are:
- For the 2nd year tuition, can my mum use her fixed deposit to show as pof for 2nd year tuition? Because she doesn't have any account that has funds for a long time. And her Statement of account as show of income? but sometimes there won’t be any money in the account because of her business. As she pays for her goods, Good inflow and outflow though.

- For living expenses, the gift deed from both siblings and the funds from sale of land, are we to leave this money in our accounts for 4-6months?

- can we (my husband and i) use an investment and land to show that we will use it to pay for our 2nd year living expenses ? We also have a house

- our family ties are my mum, siblings, my business, I will taking over my family business, our house and land. Please does these work ?

Thank you

Hello Vikky05,

Your sponsor only needs to demonstrate the funds for the subsequent year and not necessarily in liquid funds. What is important is showing sufficient liquid funds for the first year of study which should be about NGN 10m above excluding tuition and LE. Though the amount to show depends on the total cost of your study for the first year.

Not that it isn't good to have more than one third-party individual supporting you financially, the implication is that it could weaken your economic establishment, especially when the VO can not trace continuous inflows of your earnings or funds in your personal bank account.

The current refusal trend is now based mostly on "Personal Assets & Financial Status" whether or not the individual had a good sitting balance despite paying full tuition. The cause could be a result of a term deposit or scanty inflows.

If your mom is sponsoring, she needs to present a financial record that has a continuous inflow amounting to a sufficient sitting bank balance. From the proceedings of the sale of land, pay your second-year tuition and fix the rest in a fixed deposit along with an explanation of why. If this can be done, you can become a self-sponsored applicant.

Ensure that you include your personal bank account having a sitting balance of about NGN 5 – 7m or above if you decide to pay for the two years of tuition. The funds will serve as a demonstration for your two years of LE. The funds to be received from your siblings can be used to run your account within a 4 – 6 months duration. This way, you can leave them out of the application. If your spouse's bank account is sufficient, include it, otherwise, only provide his employment information.

I’m glad I found this, I want to apply for diploma at Durham College in Canada, in the admission requirement, I saw that I’d need to submit my WAEC or NECO and I don’t know how to go about it cause I’m confused, they said I’ll need to submit transcript and result?

Also I have two WAEC sittings?

Hello Dude99,

Provide your scratch card along with the certificate. It can pass for the transcript. If you have a first degree before now, consider a Master or PGD/C.

Use either of the certificates that meet the minimum grade requirement of the program if specified. If you can not find it, reach out to the international admissions office for further enquiry.

Hello Gurus,
Please I have a question I would like to ask.
I'm a self sponsored applicant , I'm applying very soon for my study permit , my mom is my co sponsor .
1. She's a businesswoman , she has a good inflow and outflow funds in her account but not very good closing balance due to the fact she utilize her funds for her building projects( she's a real estate developer and also a lessor ) can I use her SOA like that even though she's a co sponsor.
2. I'm going for a 2 years PGD and I have all the funds covered for the first year but not for the second year ( I've got a steady income monthly in my SOA ). I paid for the first year already and I got like 6.5m left in my account. Is it enough or I need more for the first year ?
3. Can I apply for the SP without her(Mother) SOA. since she has like 1m closing balance but with great inflow and outflow .I have enough documents to backup her source , proof and availability of funds , I'm just worried about her closing balance .

Please I hold someone can help me answer some of my concern .

Hello Raymondrain,

Stating your age would have been helpful. Based on your post, you should be the sole sponsor. Get your mom to send your second year's tuition to your account and provide you with a Letter of Support, and supporting evidence for her source of income. This way, the need to include her bank statement won't be necessary if it is not available.

She can demonstrate in the letter her capability to support your study financially as well as give any useful information too. If you are married, demonstrate the provisions made to sustain your family in your absence.

If you can go for a one-year program, do so. This will enable you to set up a GIC for your LE in addition to the full tuition fee paid. If this is not possible, you can still set up a GIC to support the payment of your first-year fees whilst you can still show the second year's funds in your account or a fixed deposit. This is just for demonstration.

Can anyone help me with the list of colleges or universities for Post graduate diploma in accounting or business administration-Accounting WITHOUT IELTS requirements for September 2022 admission.
I am a graduate of Accounting. I will like to apply for PGD in accounting or business Administration-accounting

Hello Bunmmy01,

You can consider opting for PGD in Business Insight & Analytics, Business Data & Financial Analytics, or a Master of International Financial & Business Management. Your choice of business administration is also okay.

You can check Humber, Conestoga college, etc., as well as Calgary, Windsor university, etc.

4gunners:
How much do I need to have in my account to self sponsor for my masters. The tuition fee is 7600 CAD. Trying to tidy up my document?

Hello 4gunners

If single, try to show as high as CAD 25,000 after tuition and LE. If married, try to show as high as CAD 30,000 after the first year study cost.

Note that you can still show slightly below the quoted amounts, but if you can show up to these funds with good inflows and a reliable source of income without any unexplainable large deposits, you stand to put in a competitive application.

Good evening house,

Please someone should advise on the way forward as I await my admission for Sept 2022.

Planned to use a USA based sponsor (Sister). Is this a red or green flag?

Also have a Nija sponsor (brother) who is a businessman but the business is not registered.

Graduated in 2018 and worked in a company for a year (With appointment letter, confirmation of employment). Currently a freelancer and have about N4M in savings.

How best could I package my application?

Hello Mancinho,

Your sister can sponsor you. You may stand an improved chance if you leave your NGN 4m untouched and get your brother to assist you with about NGN 3m to run your account to NGN 7m. You can use your payment processor as a freelancer to build the account to avoid lump sums or to be able to easily provide printed evidence from your dashboard to justify any lump if there is one.

Get your sponsor to pay your first-year or first-semester tuition fees and open a GIC for your LE. The reason is that you are using a third-party sponsorship and doing this will help you demonstrate that the study funds are readily available and accessible to you.

Also, get your business registered if it is not. Aside from your sponsor, ensure you place concrete attention to demonstrate a very good economic establishment in your home country. Support your application with as many relevant documents as you can.

This is just one of the several approaches you can leverage.

I forgot to submit prove of my mums finances

Please is it compulsory to submit these documents and proofs?

Secondly ,how can I go about submitting it ?
I am worried this is the only thing I didn’t do in my application.

Hello Stellagabu,

Since you submitted her bank records and business registration certificate and other proof, you may want to consider allowing your application to play out so. Good morning everyone, please I am putting all of my documents together and I need help with the list of all the document I should gather. My father and my husband will be the one sponsoring me and will appreciate anyone that can help with the list of document.
Secondly, I am still using my father's name because I just got married and I am worried it might affect me. Will it affect my application?Thank you.

Hello Miznate,

IRCC and the officers know these things. In the Western world, married couples and even their children can bear different names.

On the IMM 1294e Form, there is a column that allows you to specify any other name(s) you bear. As long as the names you currently bear tallies with that which reflects on your biodata, you have no issue. Ensure you declare that you are married and include justifiable evidence.

You can check the thread for the list of documents others used. Most people share their testimonies with their document list. You should understand the uniqueness of your application and only select the documents from the list that best suits your application profile.

Good evening boss I am in situation , Was going to pay the balance of the tuition fee for my wife @ University of Manitoba, However Polaris have not been able to process it since last week through western union globalpay, Note that is the medium we used for the deposit. We are running against time as i got to know today that the bank could not process it saying CBN didnt release enough . The deadline for payment is December 13, If we dont pay the balance the school said we will forfeit the admission and also the deposit. Please how can i get to pay them before Monday anyone in the house should please help !!!!

Hello Kokolanre123,

What you could do now is to write the school for an extension grace. Attach evidence of the ongoing fee payment processing from the bank. Tell them the targeted date of finalization the bank gave and ensure you use soothing words.

Most times, schools respond positively to this kind of request. You can send the email twice. One today and the other on Monday by 3 PM Nigerian time.

Direct your email to the finance, admissions, international office, and/or program coordinator. If the school is on the PayMyTuition platform, you may want to consider using the option. They give a rate of CAD 476 or CAD 483 at high.

Did you demonstrate your employment situation and did your sponsor show any commitment from the presented funds and how much was committed. Also, did you include your POF as a mature or gainful earner?

Financial availability is not assessed based on the sitting bank balance but by the actual commitment made towards the intent. Landed properties are not POF or demonstrate financial availability, strength, or sufficiency.

Please, considering you have a master's, how did you justify your PGC? What other documents did you submit? Thank you.

Bro!

How are you, Been a minute?!

One of the convenient ways is to leverage the industry teachings of the PGC by connecting them to the industry's limitations.

Not everyone understands that a PGD/C and a Course-based Master are on the same academic level. Thus, depending on how its significance is demonstrated that will determine the study's importance.

Like MUN and some other Universities, some Course-based Master's students and PGD/C students take lectures in the same classroom depending on the Department. However, there is always a slight modification in the academic teaching that favours the Course-based Master as a superior study. Our society has been programmed to downplay the PGD/C as a study. Please, pardon my rant.

A very good buddy whom I got to assist in filling his application from this thread has gotten his PPR. He is self sponsored, never travelled before applicant.
Read through this thread and offered to help him in his application when it came up about him wanting to apply.
The first hurdle to cross was that he finished with a very poor result in E.E from one of the Nigerian unis; His grade was "PASS". that's the least grade of Nigeria University system.
He has been Into business right from school; ICT product sales and services and finished schooling in 2015.
We Started applying to schools since April, Diploma in Computer Systems Technician and Graduate Diploma in MBA, applied to 5 schools and when the feedbacks on admission started coming in they kept declining him stating that his results were too poor and he was over qualified at the same time for the diploma degree he was applying for. Durham College, George Brown College, Centennial college, Humber college and MUN.
But in the end Humber College and Centennial offered him admission. Centennial was a conditional admission while Humber was a full admission that didn't require a fees payment. So he went with Humber.
He Booked an upfront medical in July and got a September date.
Contacted Justmellow for him, to write his SOP, which he did a very good job with a strong worded 2pages, citing his strength considering his unique state of application.
Documents were gathered and by September after the medical appointment, application was opened and submitted.
The Rest was committed Into the Hands of Abba Father and he perfected all that concerned the application.

-Letter of Acceptance
-University Certificate
-WES Assessment (used in place of his Transcript as Justmellow advised he doesn't use it because of the poor grades init, so since he had a WES Assessment which he had done earlier, he used it in place of the transcript).
-Letter of English Proficiency from his Uni since he didn't want to write IELTS.

God did it for him! Best of luck to everyone else seeking PPR, God will see each and everyone through. All you need is in this thread.

Hello Innunique,

Hello people,

My brother entered the PR pool in august 2021 , he however wants to use the study route to come to canada in May 2022. He has secured masters admission and is at the point of applying for his study visa. However he has 2 issues:

1. He put on his PR application that he has been working as a “Training administrator” at the family company. However, the course he’s going for is finance related and because of the fact that approval is dependent upon if the course relates to your career path or if it is something you studied, he filled in his sop that he is an investment analyst( he actually started branching out into this a few months back).

I would like to know if it’d be reasonable to fill it on his form that he’s currently an investment analyst without raising any eyebrows from the visa officer as to whether he’s lying about it.

2. He is considering taking down his PR profile because he’s scared that it’d affect his chances of getting approved because of home ties. I would like people who have been in this dilemma to advice please

I would like the house to please advise on the above. I would appreciate any takes and inputs!

@frankrobbn1 @justmellow @lekiboboe

Hello JORDAN55,

It is very obvious that his employment information is cooked up and it is a sin to declare false employment information, especially when it involves the EE route.

No matter what, he should stick with his already declared employment information in his EE profile, even if it takes longer than imagined for a draw to happen and the application finalized.

If he suddenly changes his employment title or position, he will not be meeting the eligibility of his selected NOC code and could get a query for a false declaration. If this is me, I will never withdraw an EE profile if the CRS score is high because of a study permit application unless it is critical to do so.

The way forward is for him to turn down the admission and apply to programs that correlate with his actual declared employment experience.

Even a bulletproof SOP won't be able to stop the officer's kill-shot bullet. He should do the right thing. Check my Nairaland profile on his behalf to see how to get a well-written SOP after the needful has been done.

Best of Luck (to your brother)

If your prospective study correlates with your work experience, work on completing your tuition payment. If you can maintain the balance of the said NGN 6m or can up it to NGN 7m and after setting aside your LE or opening a GIC, you can act as a self-sponsored applicant. If your sibling is still willing to support you financially, get a support letter from him and ensure that instead of receiving the money as a lump sum to your account, use it to set up a GIC.

n.b. Ensure that there are no unjustified large funds and include your paystubs, study leave letter and remember to demonstrate the lucrativeness and reliability of your source of income.

Hi everyone

I want to share what is going on with my admission
My school made mistakes on my transcript
So I uploaded without noticing
The school reached out saying they noticed the year on my 400L is 2017/2018 instead of 2019/2020, So they wanted me to upload a new one. So I used that opportunity to go through the transcript.
I saw they inputed the wrong grades too
But the school no fit know that one
So I told crescent to correct the year for 400L and also correct the grades. I sha uploaded a new one
Now the school reached out saying they noticed some discrepancies such as change of grades by comparing my old transcript with the new one i uploaded.
They sent a mail saying they need my official transcript sent to them by my school.
They have sha sent it

N.B: I finished with a CGPA of 4.44 in Economics and I’m applying to Concordia university for M.A economics.

Do you guys think I still have a chance with this whole transcript issue

Hello Olanrae,

If the updated official transcript is received directly from your school and verified to be legitimate, there will be no issue for the DLI to consider you for admission if you meet the admission requirements.

If this falls out of the circle, you may risk a ban to that DLI and other DLIs they share academic information with.

Good morning my nairaland family And gurus in the house …my notes just came in
See the attached below

Hello Katehasty,

If you are a mature applicant with vast work experience in health or a related field, go for something closely related. IF you are intending to switch your career at this time, especially with insufficient funds and weak financial demonstration, don't. You should consider dropping your profile so people can be able to accurately contribute to your post.

If possible, get your sibling to up his funds likewise including your POF to justify that you are a gainful earner. If you can raise your tuition fees (pay it) and you can come in as a cosponsor, esp if you still have about CAD 10,000 as your sitting balance. You can also consider bringing your parents into the (co-)sponsorship picture if possible.

You should consider:

√ changing your program if it does not correlate with any of your justifiable experience. If it does, work on the prospect plan for the study, intent to study, the importance of the study aimed at expressing the genuineness as a temporary resident.

It is good that many applicants try to justify the genuineness to study, but somehow in the process, lose focus to understand that the overall information of the essay is the determination adopted by the officer to conclude on the genuineness of an application.

Remove emotion and apply critical logic, you will have a perfect essay that justifies your reason for wanting to study the program of choice in Canada. For the ease of justification, that is why a study that demonstrates progression is the way to go.

√ Get your sponsor to up his funds to about CAD 30,000 after tuition and LE.

√ Include your savings bank account statement.

√ Pay part or full first-year tuition.

I want to ask if it is possible for Canada to process PPR in 3 months? also can PPR go through express entry? am looking for a way to escape the 6 months duration. if you have any info as regard this please share it with me.

Best regards.

Hello Giftedchild009,

I believe you are referring to PR (Permanent Resident) applications?! If correct, on some cases, some PR applications has been approved between 2 – 3 months, especially if it is without contradictions and verification can be easily conducted.

On the norm, the estimated processing time falls between 6 months – 1 year. All skilled/economic immigration application goes through the EE route.

Hello Everyone

Its been a minute since my last post here. First off congratulations to everyone who's received PPR, May Canada favor y'all. For who are awaiting decisions, keep the faith and for those who have been delayed, remember that delay isnt denial.

So I am just about to start the actual application for my wife's study permit. The delay is as a result of making sure all necessary documents are in order. I have a little issue for which I seek guidance. We intend including our 5yr old daughter who is a US citizen, in my wife's application. The issue is her passport expired last week. I thought renewing US passport here in Nigeria who be easy but the closest date we got for an appointment is 20 Jan 2022. Note that it takes about 2-3weeks for issuance after appointment.

My question is this; What do we do now? Can we just go ahead and apply for my wife? Do we indicate in her application that she intends to go with our daughter? If our daughter's passport number is asked for to be included in the application, do we just indicate the expired passport number?

Please house, would appreciate some direction on this.

Hello NorthernshoreTS,

Leave your daughter out of the application. After she has received her renewed US passport, she can travel with her mom upon approval. An ETA will be issued if travelling from the US or a visitor visa for those facilitating entry from a visa-required country. A visitor visa will be issued if staying for 6 months or a visitor record if longer. If a visitor record will be issued boils down to the officer's discretion at the POE.

hello everyone! please I am in trouble. I applied for my permit in may and did my biometrics as well. recently I received a request letter for payment receipt in September. I did that and then on Monday I received a procedural fairness letter saying if I don't explain why the payment was invalid and pay the money I will be refused and not allowed to apply for 5 years. please after making a second payment, what documents do I submit to make sure i will be accepted for visa. because the message they sent is very serious. I do not know the issue with any of the payments because they were all approved by them but nevertheless I will pay again. along with new proof of payment, what else will I submit as an explanation for the previous payment invalidity? please this is urgent, I have till December 7 to reply

Hello Omodunniolaiya,

IRCC sending a PFL does not mean they can not be faulted for an error if you are sure that the initial payment was not charged back if you paid yourself.

The issue of chargeback might not be intentional, especially if a third party was used. It may be from the side of the transmitting bank.

If you are not so sure or don't have full trust or confidence in the third party, make the payment again and attach the payment receipt and a concise and direct LOE to explain the situation as unintentional. Be careful not to say too much.

Best of Luck

Long Post Alert!
I said I was gonna come back
This Canada waka has not been easy.I am a second time applicant. I used the service of an immigration lawyer in Canada for my first application. I was devastated after spending hugely ( over 500k)for my refused application. Shortly after using the services of the imm lawyer was when google brought me to Nairaland platform. So immediately after my refusal I contacted justmellow on Nairaland but fully engage him through his social media page on Twitter/IG @GCMSWriters after seeing an impressive review about him here. The rest is now history. Glory be to God.

1st application

Applied - January 15th 2021
Refusal - May 27th 2021
Biometrics –january 21, 2021
Medicals – Upfront
Eligibility Start: not sure cos my lawyer took charge of the IRCC account

Reasons from notes ordered- source of family’s income was unclear.
It was unclear whether funds provided will be available for studies.
Motivation to pursue studies was unreasonable.
Study plan was general .

2nd application

Applied - August 8, 2021
Eligibility review- November 8,2021
MeDical updated- November 22, 2021
PPR- November 23, 2021.

Our gurus on this platform are not getting enough exposure and support because these guys are awesome. @Justmellow also guided me on how to withdraw the service of the immigration lawyer and came up with quite an approach as if he was an IRCC rep. I screamed when I saw the approved message. It was like I was shocked by an electricity leak. Lol

How I addressed the reasons for refusal ,
I contacted @justmellow for assistance. He went for his application guide & advice services and he also wrote my SOP and LOE ( as they said the initial one I did was general) And he also advised on extra documents I could add to back up my application.

As par my family establishment ..I added my dad’s retirement letter and also provided CAC for his new business of which luckily I had a stake in( even though the business no dey function)
As par funds not sure of being available- I provided my payslips for 6months to show source of funds( I didn’t submit my payslips in first application), 6 months MBS of my accounts.)
As par motivation for studies- it was clearly narrated in my SOP by @justmellow. In the process of waiting for my application to be approved, I requested my GCMS notes from justmellow website www.gcmswriters.com

All the IMM forms

It’s been a long journey but thank God it ended well. Pardon me if there are any typos, abeg manage the reading like that. It is still a dream. Thank you mellow.

WHAT GOD CANNOT DO TRULY DOESN’T EXIST
