@the Baft

As you might have noticed, i have hidden your post where you gave update about the outcome of your passport re-newer.

You have some useful info there as well as some misleading info which was why i took the action.

You don't need to know somebody in immigration to be able to extend your passport, i detest the idea of encouraging corruption, now all you have done is to recruit customers for that particular 'High ranking immigration officer' by giving out his number for people to pay him for passport extension or re-newer.

This is wrong, it will make life difficult for anybody who wants to follow the normal process or somebody who can not afford to bribe or do. . . 'money for hand, back for ground'.

This is why nothing work properly in Nigeria because we encourage corruption and pay for something that was supposed to be free.

If you want to edit your post and remove those misleading info then i'm ready to bring up your post but if i don't read from you any soon then will edit it myself and will make sure that nobody drops contact details here for that high ranking immigration officer.

I really hope that you and others understand where i'm coming from.

Thanks.
Thank you for the wonderful job on this forum. I have been following it for quite a while and I will love to have one or two advice/clarifications.

I have quite a number of offers from schools in Uk and I am currently awaiting scholarship decisions (I applied to many schools in order to have various opportunities for scholarship). I observe that most of the results for scholarships might not come in until mid July/August and I have decided to go ahead with the visa application with the fund in my account in order to meet the deadline.

My fear is if i apply to a particular school and I am granted visa based on my admission to the school, would I be able to use the Visa if i decide to opt for another school entirely (if the latter school end up giving me a better offer) or otherwise should I wait for the decisions before making my visa application.

I will appreciate you advice.

God bless.
Unfortunately no, your visa is tied to the university that gave you admission.

Olupraise: Please I want to ask, I was told that it is ideal to keep the money in my account for 28days + 2weeks. AS the Embassy could contact the bank to confirm if the money is there.
My question is this, is this statement really true, do banks release customer's info to third parties. I believe if the money is in one's account for 28days and one has printed the account statement is enough, and One is free to withdraw the money and return it to the owners. please kindly enlighten me on this.
Thanks

That is wrong, you don't borrow money just for the purpose of the 28days rule, that money supposed for yours and you are expected to have it in the UK to be used through out your course. The embassy can contact your bank any time to inquire about that account, your bank is not releasing your info to the third part, you have done that already by willingly giving the embassy all your details and signed it, all the embassy is doing to verify your claims and if they are found to be misleading or false then you be refused and banned for a good number of years.

Surely a case of the pot calling the kettle black.
Your emphases on skin colour is sickening, what difference does it make if one is black or white Nigerian?

Primitive attitude like your makes it even harder for anybody to have an open minded argument about any subject.

Foreign Affairs › Re: Who's Greater - Mugabe (Who Took His Peoples Land Back) Or Mandela (Who Didn't) by justwise(m): 9:48pm On Jun 05, 2012
GenBuhari: ^ you are still sidestepping the question as to whether you are black or not.

You are also trying to be mischievous by address only parts of my post and not others which you have no answer for.

You are also trying to confuse things, if are saying that Mugabe never banned the use of foreign currency for purchases in Zimbabwe, then you know less than you think about Zimbabwe. Mugabe made that ruling before he decided to adopt the US Dollar. Besides the point is that these policy were likely contrary to advice of IMF and World Bank.
You are really clueless and confused.

What loads of rubbish are you going on about? Are they using Nigerian money to pay the victims?

If you are looking for billions to develop Nigeria then ask just one member of parliament, they stole more than that in a year.

GenBuhari: @andrewza,
I do not claim know everything about the region, but I know enough to know who are working for Africa and who is not.

Mugabe is without doubt an African hero.

@justwise,
Very interestingly you have deliberately ignored my question about whether or not you are black. You seem to criticise only the pro-black and pro-African leaders.

I am becoming more convinced that you are not black.

When Mugabe adopted the US Dollar Zimbabwe's currency was it IMF / World Bank advice he was following? NO - In fact I am convinced it was contrary to IMF/World Bank advice !!

When Mugabe banned the use of foreign currency for making purchases in Zimbabwe, was it IMF advice? NO- In fact I am convinced it was contrary to IMF/World Bank advice !!

When Mugabe decided to take lands from whites and redsitribute them to blacks was it IMF / World Bank advice? NO - In fact I am convinced it was contrary to IMF/World Bank advice !!
Do you actually read what you type or is somebody as naive as you are telling you what to say?

Mugabe adopted US dollar and at the same time banned the use of foreign currency in Zimbabwe? Is US dollar not foreign currency?

Let me educate you a bit, Mugabe adopted US dollar because the Zim-dollar was worthless, toilet tissue worth more than Zimb-dollars, nobody accepts it in the supermarket at that time.

You need a wheelbarrow to carry Zim-dollars then if you want to buy a loaf of bread, it was that bad.

Mugabe was stopping people from leaving Zimbabwe with foreign currency but you can come in with one, they were exchanging beef with Libya at that time for foreign currency because Zimbabwean beef is of high quality.

That did not last as Gaddafi becomes greedy and started demanding for lands and banks then Mugabe pulled out and move to China and Singapore for help.

They were depending on the money coming from Congolese Govt as Zimbabwe soldiers were in Congo then helping the Govt fight the rebels.

You know little about Zimbabwe and i will encourage you to read up before you post again.
Travel › Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 2 by justwise(mod): 4:10pm On Jun 05, 2012
elimokhai: Good afternoon Justwise,

I must commend your good work on Nairaland especially on UK visa, not even sure an ECO knows all that you know.

Let me be precise as far as I can.

I am applying for a visitor's visa.

Firstly: I have been refused in 2006 using the old passport. In the old passport I have two names there, E.G John Kunle, while in the new e-passport I have E.G John Mike Kunle both carrying my original date of birth. But I do not have the information of the refusal including the LAG number which was suppose to be included in my application. Please let me know if I am correct.

Question: Can i apply with the e-passport? do i include in my application if I have applied before or not? if yes, what should I do? how do I convince the ECO

Secondly: My marriage certificate was destroyed by water, so I was recently issued on June 1st with a " certified true copy" I intend to attach the sworn affidavit from high court which I used to obtain it, including the photocopy of the original which I still have with me.

Question: Hope the ECO will not think otherwise.

Thirdly: My bank statement has a balance of 1.8 for a visit of 3weeks. The account is well ran, deposit made mostly by me. It is a current account. Since I do not work, savings come from business which I run locally from sales of laptop, phones, and farming which I do locally.

Question: Hope the ECO will not assume I do not have evidence that the funds were genuinely earned?

Lastly: I have two kids, but obtain their birth certificates recently, I intend to write a cover letter to this effect stating reasons why I just obtain their certificates. I intend to write that during the course of compiling my travelling document for this trip. I misplaced the original copies of marriage certificate and the birth certificates on transit, that is the reason why I have the certified copy of the marriage certificate and the birth certificate which also have its own sworn affidavit which I intend to attach.

Question: woundn't the ECO think I obtain those document for the purpose of deceiving them? I also have the birth notice which was issued by the hospital.

Justwise, please I need your urgent response. God bless you.
First thing first. . . why were you refused a visa in 2006, its very important that u remember and state that in your visa application form, holding back such info will not help the outcome of your visa.

Is your business registered? Paying tax from your earnings? You work, your business is your work so the ECO will expect you to declare your earnings properly and taxed.

Yes you will be fine with the marriage certificate if you attached the photocopy of the original one, the new one and the affidavit, the same goes with your kids birth certificate but pls don't fail to explain to the ECO while you left it this late to obtain one.

If the general student visa rule is to be followed then a friend can not sponsor you, from the look of things, you are only using his bank statement for the visa application and the money will not be available to you in the UK.

You need to read the student visitor's guild-line carefully to know what the rule says about sponsorship, i haven't read it yet
