Dapto: @Justwise,Oga,I hail thee You don't have to deposit for accommodation, but if you do then yes you will deduct the amount you deposited for accommodation from the maintenance money but you have to show the receipt of that payment. I never read anywhere that a prospective student need to have TB test before coming to the UK, if there is need for one they will conduct one at the airport before you are allowed into the country. |
I just tried it. No empty slots at all. i was told those solicitors buy up all the available slots and they charge clients for it.i have all the requirement but i dont know how long it will take before they return my document as i plan to travel.a friend of mine who has applied is still waiting and its 6 weeks already.
I don't think the solicitor will make it any shorter, the HomeOffice had problem with their computer system since Feb, the whole system was down, they could not print visa or accept any new interview appointment. They started interviewing people who are already booked last month, that was why you could not see any available date. They are still clearing up the backlog, i know many people who waited for 5 months before getting their visas. |
@justwise. i am trying to extend my visa from tier 1 to tier2 but i don't want go through the posting and waiting as i need the premium service. can you recommend any solicitor you think handles that
You don't need a solicitor at all, just select premium service instead of postal when you are completing the form, then pay the premium fee, as long as you meet all the requirements then you got nothing to worry about. |
dalobaba: @justwise....does it really matter if I'm married or have a job..I'm 25 and I graduated 2011 and started my post graduate immediately.....pls let me know what u feel about thisIt does very much. |

dalobaba: Hello,I'm a post graduate student of funaab. I want to apply for uk visiting visa next week and following are the documents I av with me, I will like to know if I am good to go. ThanksWithout a strong tie to Nigeria, your chances of getting a visa is pretty remote, you are a graduate with no job, not married, no property, there is not much that will persuade you to come back to Nigeria if given a visa. |
Vicjustice: I have to disagree with the second: The man was initially refused the visa, and the decision was overturned on appeal and the visa was granted, therefore, his record is; had NOT been, and was NOT refused a visa.Like i pointed out in my reply to the op, ticking 'yes' will do him absolutely no harm, yes he was refused a visa before however, he appealed and won, that is all he need to explain in the form, If the refusal stamp is still on his passport, its only fair that he clear any suspicion about the refusal stamp, the ECO don't have to second-guess about it. |
@op. Are you related to the family? |
thank you so much. that's been most helpful. Now how to work out what to tell the school and how to drag three children into central london on a workin day at rush hour ![]() thanks again. Abigail X
I can understand where you coming from, but try and go as early as possible to avoid queue. If you got there early it takes less time to get done. |
Hello All, I am due to attend an interview for Nigerian passports for myself and my children. Can someone please please help? ![]() Do I have to take my children to the interview. Dont relish the prospect of a whole day at Nigerian embassy with school aged children what documents do I need please? All I got from the website was signed application form, 2 passport sized photographs, aknowledgement and payment form Now someone is telling me I need £20 postal order, one for myself and 3 for my three children, Guarantors form, signed and sworn? does the guarantor have to be Nigerian based? Do I need any additional document especially with regards to my kids? i do not want to do repeated trips to the embassy...where is the embassy please? sorry for all the many questions ooo but like I said I dont want to do double journey, cant afford the time off and my travel is set for next month. ok, thank you muchest...Abigail
Your kids fingerprint, digital picture and signature have to be taken, so in that case they need to be there. The postal order is a must, you may not even be allowed in without having it. So buy the poster order for everyone of you, print out the online payment page and the page that contains your details. I did not go with any guarantee form. |
@justwise I was going to say the same thing myself. I'm sure by the time the UK government starts to realize the effects of their harsh policies, they might have a rethink.
The universities and public funded colleges will be hit in the pocket badly until they start protesting to the Govt. But i fear that Canada will turn nasty too pretty soon when our brothers and sisters start abusing the system. |
declem: Make una live d woman jare,as she no get moni nko..who wan giv them...abeg sell the remaining children..make u hammer...Are you not heartless? I'm sure that ur parents made a mistake for not selling you. |
rina070: Hi there,You need to clear up the issue with German immigration before re-applying, send an email to German embassy in your country and explain the situation AND the paper you were served in Finland need to be included to show that you did not live there illegally. You can as well invite your bf to your country and get married there then apply for visa from your country with the help of your bf |
Fhemmmy: I am not sure if there is any other thread on NL that has seen so much response and interest generation like this. You are right, the part2 of this thread was started about 6months ago along with USA and the UK but this thread received more traffic than the other two. This also goes to show that the USA and the UK are losing foreign students, the UK especially, because of the harsh student visa rules introduced this year, making the UK very unfriendly place for foreign students. This time last year the UK student visa thread was so busy that i spent almost all day online, but everything has gone quiet now. |
hok4u: @ justwise can u reccomend any low cost university for me in the uk precisely in london for a post graduate diploma in economics and probably d cost, please am counting on uHow much will you regard as low cost? |
Hi Justwise and all the visa experts. Greetings! Would very much appreciate your input and recommendations. I first visited the UK in 2003 on a 6 months visa. Then 2 additional times on a 2 yr working holiday visa, which expired in 2006. I've not been to the UK since. From the beginning of this year, I've visited Germany twice on business. I have two further trips planned before December. I'm hoping to acquire a uk visa so I can pay some short visits to friends and family whilst residing in Germany on official duties. I have 3 questions; 1. Which visa should I go for? Is it ambitious going for a 2 yr visa since I've not been to the uk in 2. During my 1st Schengen application, I was refused but appealed and was granted. Had no issues with my second one. I'm positive i'll have a 2 mnth valid schengen during my visa application. Concerning the question which asks whether you have been refused a visa for any other country, do I respond with yes or no? Since the decision was overturned. 3. Finally I have 2 accounts; my active account with 700,000naira. My salary passes through this account. Then my dormant account which till 2 weeks ago had just 200,000. My brother repaid a loan to the tune of 1,000,000 so now this account has 1.2 mil. Wary of how suspicious the embassy operates, I plan not to include this account during my application. I'll be purchasing treasury bonds with this account . My query is will it help buttress my economic standing if i add this investment slip or will still ignite suspicion. During application I'll provide proof of this recent investment but not the bank account since it will seem ballooned. Thanks in advance for your help.
1. No its not ambitious to go for 2yrs since you have had 6months vis before. 2.Yes can tick 'yes' then explain as you did here, it will not cause you anything. 3. You don't have much to worry about really, you have steady source of income with decent bank balance, including the second bank a/c will help but you have to take time and explain the source of money on it with paper evidence as much as you can |
Silly and amateur scam. Just hope that nobody pays attention to this rubbish. |

aniiseg: Hi justwise and everyone that has been contributing to this topic, it has really been enlightening. I however have a few questions that need answers and implore that you help. You don't have to include the £1598, and maintenance money for London is £9000 now, not £7200 any more. Why can't you print bank statement from savings account? |
Hallo, I've never applied for a visa as a tourist. a colleague of mine is doing so and would like to know what is required as 'itinenary'. to apply for visa to uk as a tourist requires itinenary and proof of places to visit. How does he show that in the application? by simply listing places to visit or does one have to show bookings for these places along with hotel and flight booking?
|
