Mashaunola: Please help me.....
I want to apply for a 6 months visitors visa in July 2019 for a 3 weeks visit. my elder sister is a British citizen and she gave birth last year. Now she wants me and my mum to come and visit. She’s paying for all my expenses and she has a good job. I currently earn 150k net and I am currently doing ACCA (it’s a professional exam for accountants globally) exams here in nigeria. My Mums application is fine but for my own, i am worried about how to prove strong ties to my home country. I am not yet married and I don’t have any property. I intend to state that my company is currently paying for my ACCA exams on the agreement that I work with them for 6 years so I will definitely come back. Does this prove enough ties to my home country or is this relevant.
Thank you in advance. Attach that in your application and also explain it in the form because it will help your home tie argument |

Fekeri: Greetings to all the Gurus and everyone here. I picked up my wife's passport today with 6 months visa. I was running out of patience because application was submitted 16th April and we got decision notice 21 May but visa was issued 8th May. Maybe the delay was one of the problems with TLS. Many thanks to this big family for the usual contribution and corrections. Congratulations! |

I always tell people that even the Canada people are running may one day become worse than USA They are just using their immigration policies to build their economy nd work force. Please if you love your children and their future don't relax in Canada even if you are a permanent citizen. Try to always bring them back to Nigerian soil to know, feel nd experience their root. Do you think Canada don't know wat they are doing? Even if it doesn't happen it may happen to our Children Nd come to think of it, if u are the type that has never carried ur children back home nd u make them feels they are Canadian by root by then u will be in ur grave regreting ur mistakes. God is not a fool for making you a Nigerian Is for a reason........ Finally No place like Home....... Thank u guys! Home is not necessarily Nigeria, anywhere you feel safe, happy and contented is your home. |

RedPanda: Hmmmn true, but even a mere act of parliament is very tedious now with the hyper partisanship in the United States. The last time comprehensive immigration reform passed was in 1970s during the Reagan Administration. Nothing can get 60 votes now in the United States Senate and any Trumpian bill is dead on arrival in a democratic controlled House. Same goes for healthcare, democrats would resist any changes, it wont get 60 votes in the senate, heck it won't even get 51 votes if done through budget reconciliation, that's how fraught healthcare bills are in the United States. So it's tough.
I honestly don't know about Brazil, but it's a federal republic and I suspect the processes should be similar to that of America. I could be wrong though. Maybe MrBrownJay can speak on it although I highly doubt they would change there healthcare laws just cos of some perceived abuse by foreigners. I'm not talking about USA |

RedPanda: This is your problem. it is far far difficult to change constitution in the US or Brazil than either Uk or Canada or these european countries. That's why I kept saying if cos I know you are using UK eyes to view this thing.
when was the last time there was a constitutional amendment either in the US or Brazil? They don’t need to change constitution to stop foreigners abusing the health care. |
Travel › Re: Giving Birth In Brazil by justwise(mod): 12:57pm On May 23, 2019 |
RedPanda: if by closing the door you mean making it very difficult for folks here in Lagos to get a US or Brazilian Visa maybe but even that I don't fully agree with because my firm belief is that if you are qualified and meet the requirements you can get any visa, doesn't matter whatever requirements they come up with.
if you meant, the US authorities or Brazilian authorities will close the door on Nigerians already in the US or Brazil on valid tourist visas or any other kind of valid visas, that is impossible because of constitutional amendments in both countries to effect such change. Birth citizenship is a constitutional right in both countries. This isn't the UK. it's a matter of getting there and having your money(in case of the US) or finding a good hospital(in case of Brazil)
I hope my point is clearer now Dude i don't write or speak in tongue so i don't know why you keep saying ..if..if..and if, i made my point clear so there is no need asking if i meant this or that. Which other native language do you understand maybe i try that.. |

Samuelsoma: No sir the door can never be closed, its already in the constitution so that cant be changed. The worst they can do if they see that nigerians are taking too much advantage of their free health care is to make securing a visa stricter and more difficult. The US door has not closed, they just made US visa more difficult to get for we Nigerians, many people from different countries have really been taking advantage of this birth tourism in brazil but people'e eyes in naija just opened to this and am sure with what US is doing to Nigerians now, Brazil is gonna be so flooded soon especially for birth tourism. If you ask me sincerely in my own opinion I prefer giving birth in brazil to the US because of the many benefits attached to it for both the child and the parents which US doesn't offer. Constitution can never be changed? Are you people really living in the same planet as some of us? How did the UK stopped citizen by birth? Canada is heading towards some changes as well. |

amliftedhigher: Thanks for your concern. She went there with student visa initially. When her stay expired she went for another paper and got it, in fact she has been renewing her papers until this last one that happened since two or three years ago. She went as usual to apply for renewal but she was arrested and detained during the time she was in, she lost her job. When she came out she went to court to sue for damages and to get her permanent paper. She has been losing, reappealling and winning just like this till this January when this her present lawyer won the case for her at the appeal court. The total money due to her was over 15,000 pounds and also to give her the papers. She was paying her lawyer every dime. Can you ask your sister to come and explain things here? Though I understand some of things you said but a lot still need clarification. If she won the case and UKBA still sent refusal letter then something new came up. |

cajaah: Good day all, I have read through so many experiences but haven't found anyone similar to mine. I will sincerely appreciate all the help and advice I can get here.
My husband just got his ILR, we have been married for three years with two kids together both under 18 (one American and the other Nigerian). I am Nigerian and live in Nigeria, I have visited the UK several times (more than 5 times in 5 years), America, Dubai and Schengen countries (Paris, Germany, Spain, Malta etc) My sister is british from marriage. I am currently working, I am an IT professional with an Msc from a British University.
Please what do I really need to look out for as this is my first time applying for settlement visa. My husband is self employed and earns above 30k pounds annually, I earn about 200k in Nigeria. e have more than enough pictures of wedding, family pictures with our daughter, travel itineraries, conversation (but not so sufficient as mostly its done via whatsapp) few emails when we just met, bank transfers too.
Please note: I have always visited the UK on my visit visa I got through my sister; I always mention visiting my sister at POE because of the visa I had and was using was based on visiting her; I have 6mons,2yrs, 2yrs again cos I could'nt afford the 5yrs at the time. My daughter uses her US passport for entry so I never really had to change details on my previous visa application.
Will this matter? I did not include my husband as my purpose of visit. You never mentioned that your husband lives in the UK ? |
Travel › Re: Giving Birth In Brazil by justwise(mod): 9:15pm On May 22, 2019 |
RedPanda: The US never had a free healthcare system and there is no door closed for Nigerians as far as I am concerned. I have never be denied a US visa and if you meet the requirements and do well in the interview there just isn't any reason to be denied a US visa(or frankly any other visa) even with Trump and the drop box cancellation. I actually consider the US visa to be the easiest to get, it's very straightforward if you meet the requirements.
Same goes for this Brazilian visa too. Brazil is a very big country, almost 200m population and isn't the UK or any of these European countries. There's no trooping in of Nigerians that will suddenly make Brazillian authorities start to close any door. Most people that take advantage of this birth citizenship are from visa free countries to Brazil..there is a well known INTERNATIONAL thread on this that has been going on for years, it's not like its a new thing it's just that Nigerians are just waking up to it. Obviously you have not being reading or you refused to read at all, take your time and go through US birthing thread from part 1 till the current part and tell me if anything has changed. US is far bigger than Brazil and birthing there is not free but still they slammed the door to a large number of people going there to give birth even as they will be paying, Brazil offers free health care and will do the same sooner than US when a large proportion of people using their health care system are foreigners. No country will have an open door policy for whoever wants to come in to use the health care and leave without contributing nothing to the system. If you think that things will not change then i need some of whatever you have being smoking. |

dyydxx: Just from experiences of folks down here. Let me rephrase maybe that came out wrongly. Brazilian authorities know about this birth citizenship and welcome it. It's not a lightning rod issue here and you won't get any official here refuse you entry if your stated goal is to give birth here as long as you have all the necessary legal documents and can take care of yourself This goes to show how much you know about what you are talking about..very little or non at all. |

RedPanda: I'm not sure what you mean by the door closing, but if it's about the Immigration Laws changing then there is close to zero chance of that happening either in the US or Brazil. Jus soli is deeply ingrained in the Americas. If you are talking about the local interview processes to either places from Nigeria then that's another matter. You have been offline or not watching news for a long time |

Lipsyred: Good evening All.@ justwise I need you kindly analize this visa denial reason given I am still in shock that we were denied,I gave all documents to verify our intention for 5days visit for our anniversary n I believe the statements were not duly analized.i gave my bank salary accounts 3 of them n movement from my salary account to my other bank account was presented and treasury cert of the other bank as well with a balance of 1m+ left as balance for d trip in d other bank and the vo just concluded my balance in my bank salary account cannot cover d trip,so funny.Treasury have been on d other account for years which after d tenor rolls over and d conclusion was unusual lodgement wen my statement is clear dat deposit in and out is base on treasury which passes through.Does that mean d vo doesn't understand statement or wat?must we explain every bit of it in covering letter.my husband doesn't use his company account so he uses his personal account and run his car bizness which have a turn over of abt 50m in d statement period n lodgement have inflow written as payment of various car types so crystal clear but he have his personal income tax n make withdrawal on it,though his balance was abt 2.5m at d time of print out.please advise me where we got it wrong cos I thot we did all correctly .see attached d denial note n advise.Though d period for d anniversary is close so will travel elsewhere but can we appeal? or how soon can we reapply? I will like to reapply alone just to visit no family there just as tourist visit short trip or will it be seen as wrong applying alone sometime September?thanks and sorry to trouble u.God bless ur good work 1. Is your husband earning equivalent of £63364.90 a year as stated in that refusal letter? 2. What list of documents did he submit to support his application? 3. Were you planning to spend 900000K in 5days on a salary of less than 200K? |

Cynthia1722: Hi Justwise and all nairalanders please help me,
Thanks for all your help especially on my previous applications which has all been successful. Am in a fixed situation now and need urgent advice. So i applied to join my husband as his dependent (spouse) last year (June 2018) and got the visa, i also did my masters in the UK(2016-2017), however my husbands tier 1 visa was expiring this year so instead of the usual 2 years i was granted visa till the expiration of his which was April 2019 and he has already applied for his Indefinite leave to remain (ILR) since 1st February, i have also applied to renew my spousal visa and we are both waiting for a decision on that, now am 7 months pregnant and was looking at applying for a visit visa from my mum (2 months visit), obviously with my husband as the sponsor, she has been to the UK once in 2005 for my step sisters wedding whom i don't really communicate with, do i also have to mention her in the application cos i was in secondary school when my parents came for her wedding and i didnt know much plus we don't talk now. My mum has'nt travelled out since then but my parents are doing very well in Naija and relocation is definitely the last thing on their mind. i am very confused can we make this application with our pending visa decision, can i use my sister inlaw who is British as the major applicant? my mum works with a federal ministry and runs her own business, plus my dad and kid brother (12 years) are still in Nigeria too is this ties strong enough? the solicitor we just spoke to said recently 9/10 UK visas are denied don't know how true this is and am due to give birth ending of JULY. All and any advice given will be appreciated.
I don't think its a good idea making the application while your visa extension/renewer is still pending, Let your sister invite her. I don't know where that solicitor got that figure from |

Logachev: OK house...so I travelled to Lagos last month and submitted an application for Brazil tourist visa at the Consulate. My wife is pregnant but we did it nicely that it didn't show a bit. We had a nice chat with the VO and he said we would get a mail informing us to come pick our passports soonest. He said if we weren't available, we could detail someone to pick up for us provided we inform the consulate prior...and all. Howbeit, I had to travel last weekend and I informed a friend in Lekki that he would do the pick up for us when the time comes. Now I have received a mail form the Consulate inviting us for an interview. I don't know if this is an invitation to pick up our passports or another round of VO interview. Mind you every single document submitted was authentic and original so I'm not worried of any such incident. I just want to confirm if this email title is meant to be invitation for collection of passport or not The Brazilian door will close pretty soon just like the US. |

Yes you can say that if truly you are self employed just in case you are asked a further question about your business during the interview, so basically prepare to defend whichever answer you give during the interview. |
