ujugirl88: Pls I want to apply for a 6 months work visa from Nigeria, do I need a tuberculosis test? From UK visa and immigration website, they stated that tb test is needed from people applying for visas that last longer than 6 months. Since mine is just a work visa for 6 months, I don't need a tb test right? No you don't. |

The agency recruiting me paid for my IHS but the payment has not reflected on my online page. Please can I cancel the application? And if I do will the money be refunded back to the agency? You need to contact the embassy first and see their responses. |

CaptainCanny: Please I will like to know the reason behind your assertion that my friend can't apply for a Canadian Study Permit while on a tourist visa in the Uk? To shed more light to his situation, he already got a police certificate from Nigeria and he communicated with Vfs UK about it and they said so long he has a residential address in the Uk, he told them he will be using his friend's(Host) residential address and they said that is fine. The only question they could not respond to was the issue of using a medical done from IOM in Nigeria since the UK has its own accredited physicians and that was the reason for my initial query which I will really appreciate gurus and anyone in the house with knowledge to share. @Justwise, @Ausinepee @MichV @Mikymiko. Thank you. Your friend can not apply from the UK |

TeeFriz: Hi, Good morning...
A friend of mine just got this job offer in canada(contract). Please he wants to know if he is meant to apply for visa on his terms or the company would probably send a link or something because in their offer letter,it was stated that he should send his signed agreed terms and also send his passport photograph, visa size 45mm + 33mm(this was what got him confused). If he is to go ahead to apply on his own please how will he do it(the link) or any other seamless way of going about it (procedures). They agreed to give him a free air boarding ticket also.
Secondly how genuine can this be although he applied and online interview was conducted(written).
Thank you in advance This is just first stage before demand for money comes in. Your friend has a lot time now to run away. To answer your question.. yes your friend has to apply for visa himself. |

femi321: Its even funny that the bloggers are creating awareness ignorantly when we should be demanding good economic policies from our own government. If they decide to start charging $210 because of the pressure the exchange rate brought, it will be the US embassy's gain and our own loss. Bloggers are looking for traffic so don't pay attention to them. Some Nigerians always fight for the right they don't have. Let's just hope that the American embassy stick to the current visa fees because if they decided to charge $210 there is nothing anyone can do |

femi321: In my opinion what they are raising awareness for doesn't make sense, Nigeria charge US citizens about $210 for visa fee while they charge us $160, if they use the rate of #400/$, it is still less than when they charge us the equivalent of $210 at #385/$. This awareness might result in them charging us the normal $210 and I am sure no one will be able to say anything them Won't it be interesting if that happens? I guess the US embassy pegged the visa fees at $160 even as Nigerian embassy charges $210 because of recession in Nigeria. |

I submitted my documents and did my biometric on 18th April and had my interview on 20th April and was now waiting for decision to be made by UKVI until I got this mail below today.
Thank you for applying for a UK visa. Your visa application has been received and is under consideration. We aim to process non settlement applications within 15 working days (unless you have opted for the Priority Visa service), and settlement applications within 60 working days.
Unfortunately, the processing of your application has not been straightforward and we will be unable to decide your application within our customer service targets. We are continuing to work on your application and aim to make a decision as soon as possible.
We will write to you again if there is any change to this. Please do not attend the Visa Application Centre until you have been advised that your application has been decided and that your passport is ready for collection.
Kind Regards,
Sheffield Visa Section They will contact you when they are done with processing your application, if you read this thread and others related to UK visa you will see this type of email, its very common and it does not mean that your application will be refused or successful. |

The only option left is to challenge them to court. but you are likely not to win the case.

LagosismyHome: using 198 as directed by CBN. I should complain about it
Are they not governed by CBN so if they are using the rate as directed. Why should anyone complain...... Is that a favour done or what they are expected to do..... na wa. That why people get away with anything in naija . When you expect them to use market rate and go against CBN directive Direct your complain to CBN and the Nigerian govt. The American embassy is not doing anything wrong. |

LagosismyHome: What has reciprocity got to do with exchange rate used ...... the fee is fixed yes at $160 based on "do me i do you ".... yes that not in debate .
What i been going on about is the exchange rate used cannot be higher than even black market You keep going on about exchange rate over and over again but when American embassy were using 198 naira to the dollar exchange rate as directed by CBN even when the market rate was far higher i did not see you complain about that. It doesn't matter if the embassy is using black or blue market exchange rate the point is that the reciprocal policy has to apply. |
Travel › Re: General U.s.a (student) Visa Enquiries-part 11 by justwise(mod): 6:43am On May 08, 2017 |
LagosismyHome: The UK embassy charges £322 for student visa . .... Each embassy can fix the rate they decide no problem but the exchange rate used is usually official rate not a rate picked from a hat You are wrong. Embassies uses reciprocity policy.(do me i do you God no go vex), but some Nigerians as usual will not be objective. What is Reciprocity? Nonimmigrant visa applicants from certain countries*/areas of authority may be required to pay a visa issuance fee after their application is approved. These fees are based on the principle of reciprocity: when a foreign government imposes fees on U.S. citizens for certain types of visas, the United States will impose a reciprocal fee on citizens of that country*/area of authority for similar types of visas. https://travel.state.gov/content/visas/en/fees/reciprocity-by-country.html |
