shenanigans: Hello Nairalanders. Need your opinion ! My fiancée and I are planning to go on a vacation to the UK. Do we stand a chance if she is the sponsor of the trip for both of us? Is it weird as we are not yet married. We intend to use her own bank statements as she has more than sufficient funds as against mine. Both of you have to meet visa requirements equally so it's about who has more money in the account |

jossyking10: Justwise. Accommodation and feeding will be sorted by my cousin whom am going to stay with. Both of them live in same city. And she will send me tenancy agreement and utility bills. And please can my brother send three months of his bank statement to me or must it be 6 months? Thanks for your response. Why not 6 months bank statement and payslips? Has only been working for 3months? |

beautifulOnyi: Thanks for the advice. I plan to stay for 4 days as stated above. So hotel, return ticket and feeding has been budgeted for roughly that amount. I'll look into it as you advised. Thanks a lot. Check the actual cost of ticket and hotel in that city and see how much it will come up to. This is not the case of estimate. |

Mandydaisy: Hello everyone, Please I have a little issue.... I lost my previous passport that had a valid 5yrs visa that would have expired next year. I now have a new passport and want to apply but my question is this:
1. Can I apply for a 2 years visa instead of 6months visa since this isn't my first visa?
2. Can I make payment at the visa center as it used to be done or do I have to make payment with my card?
Thanks for your input.
Cc Justwise Why not contact the British embassy with your new passport to get the visa reissued since it still valid? |

fpeter: Okay. So I can just mention his name, without further details? ....I also heard that UK interviews are now face to face...is this true? If that section of the form requires you to fill in his details so as to proceed then do that but since you don't have his details again select No(so as to move on) THEN use the additional information space to explain that you used to have a friend but not in contact with him anymore and that you don't have his contact details as requested in that section of the form. Visiting visa interview is a random thing, not everyone is interviewed. |

fpeter: If I answer yes. How will I provide his address and utility bills and all? They will ask me for those details. They would even want to call him at the airport. I am not sure if have to state that I am going to his house. I could state that I know so and so but we no longer communicate and I don't have his details so I can't visit him. Hence I am lodging in a hotel. Why will you be asked to supply those details when you are not visiting that person? You will only be asked to supply those details if the person will be your host. |

fpeter: @ustwise
I don't speak with him anymore. We stopped communicating long ago. I don't even have his number or address. Won't that complicate matters for me? You don't have a choice than to answer yes, you don't have to add his details because you are not visiting him or staying with him. Make that clear in your form |

jossyking10: Justwise what am saying is this. My account balance is N756000 and the to total budget is £750-800 out of which my brother in UK is ready to support me with £250. So the total cost to me personally will be like £550. That is spending over 200k out of the N756000 in my account. Can my brother send 3months bank statement of his from the UK and a letter to that effect. I honestly wish to attend his graduation because we are very close. And he too attended my graduation when I finished from University of Wolverhampton. How about cost of accommodation? |

fpeter: Hi people, please i am trying to renew my 5yrs UK visa. My challenges right now are as follows:
1. The last time i traveled to the UK was in 2013, i used a family friend's invitation letter for the application. 2. I had issues at Heathrow airport because they said I was checking into a hotel instead of going to my friend's house. 3. Now, i don't want to tie my application to my family friend because we haven't been communicating for a while now. 4. Will they deny me based on the fact that i won't be using my friend? The column where they asked if i have anyone in the UK, if i say yes..they'll request certain information about my friend that i cannot provide and if i say no, I'm sure they have my previous travel history in their system already.
How do i go about this? please help me house.
cc: @ Justwise
You have to answer Yes and state that you will be staying with him this time around and provide hotel accommodation evidence |

beautifulOnyi: Hello. Pls I want to apply for 6 months UK visa for a professional exam. I'm stating that I'll stay for 4 days as it's a one day exam.
I'm married with 2 kids. I currently earn about 140k monthly...being transferred into my account everymonth by my company. I've been working for the past 5 yrs and the last 2 of which has been in my present company. I currently have about N1.2m in my account. I've been saving 80 to 100k from my salary monthly for the past 6 months. I also have a car in my name and some shares. I stated that my husband is the main bread winner of the family and pays most of the bills....so I get to save a substantial amount of my salary over the past 4yrs. But my husband doesn't have enough money in his account presently. But he has several land documents and a car in his name. Do I have to submit his account details or can I just use my account since I'll be the main sponsor? Do you also think I have enough funds to sponsor myself?
Total expenses for the trip (air plane ticket, hotel accommodation and feeding) is roughly £600 (N300k).
I stated that the exam is very important to me as it will help me advance my career. And I've been saving for it for a while. 1. You need to submit your husband's account and payslips(to support his source of income) he doesn't need to have a lot of money on it since the money goes into family expenses and you have mentioned that in your application too. You need to state that the money for the trip will be coming solely from your account. 2. Make a budget of the trip that will answer your second question though i don't think £600 will hack it |

I'm laughing my backside off reading some comments here. .. for those asking who goes to the UK these days..this is for you Record numbers of visitors come to London Thursday 19 January 2017
London welcomed a record 14 million international visits in the first nine months of 2016 putting the city on course for another bumper tourism year, according to International Passenger Survey (IPS) figures released today http://www.londonandpartners.com/media-centre/press-releases/2017/20170119-london-record-tourism Beer is always bitter to those who can not afford a bottle |

jossyking10: Thanks for your response. But please is the 150k my net salary okay to show to the ECO? My account balance is 756k and I intend to put my flight for £500 and other expenses to be £250 for 2 weeks but the feeding and accommodation are not going to be included as I will look elsewhere to get the accommodation document. Am married with no kids yet. Thanks. Justwise & co Please respond I don't think you will be given a visa looking at your budget and financial situation. You can not spend all your savings in 2weeks and come back to Nigeria with nothing left. Don't be in a hurry to damage your UK immigration record because your plans looks desperate |

mfonox: Good day Justwise,
i need your advice please and those of the good people here.
i currently work with a telecoms company in lagos and i earn 253k monthly. i have previously been refused uk visa once in 2015. one of the reasons was because i hadn't travelled b4 so i applied for a south african visa and travelled for about 7 days in 2016.
other reasons for refusal was based on some inconsistencies in my application which i intend to address in the new application. like i wrote that i was travelling alone but my mum also applied to attend my brothers graduation also. i wrote that i was travelling alone because we didnt plan to travel on same day. i also wrote that i was staying with my brother for 3 days but i also included a 4 night hotel reservation. truth is i filled the application in a hurry and i really just thought it was something easy so i just did it anyhow without much thought.(my mistake)
i want to try the uk visa again. i have about 750k in my salary account which i have saved over time. i just want to know if that amount is enough for my application. or i just wait a few months to build the account more. i intend to travel in August. but i wanted to submit my aplication next week
i also have a savings of about 500k in mutual benefit i have saved overtime, i could include that statement too
My brother and his wife are inviting me. he is married to a british, i will be staying with them, so i wont be paying for accomodation.
he has sent me his utility bills and statement of account. but he doesnt have much money in the account. i am sponsoring myself fully for the trip
Thank you for your assistance Your salary is good and since you will not be paying for accommodation two months of salary is good enough for cost of ticket. Since you want to travel by August there is no need applying next week, first week of June will be good and by then you will have more money in your salary or savings account. |

Jayalp: Hi-
Hope someone can help us. I am a retired American teacher who has fallen in love with a young woman from Tanzania. She has been turned down 5 times for an American visa (two times as a tourist/three times as a student though she has been accepted into a U.S. community college in NYC)...reasons usually given is that my sponsorship as family friend is not trustworthy and fear she will not return to her country
Now we have applied for, and obtained, a Canadian Student visa as she has been accepted into a college in Ontario. She will be arriving next week for term beginning May 8
Our goal is to get her a US Student via ASAP. Although we expect to get married, getting approval and visa that way would take much too long
MANY QUESTIONS:
1- Might she have success in getting transfer to US college in Canada even BEFORE attending college in Canada?
2- If not, what are chances of getting visa after one term
3- Re possible interview at US embassy, what questions might she be asked not asked before?
4- Any suggestions about how to deal with interview, also greatly appreciated
Jay That is not a smart thing to do considering her refusal record. Why not allow her to finish her studies in Canada before getting her over to US? |

He will not get you any genuine employment letter, you will be given a fake employment letter. This scam is pretty common. Save your money or waste it and still get banned by Canadian embassy. |

Ikihin: Please I am in need of an urgent response, submitted my spousal visa application in February 2017 , got a mail the next month saying my husband's documents weren't sent, he sent them again just got another mail a day to the Easter holiday asking my husband to provide another document and the deadline for submission is 25th of this month getting that particular document requires him to get a lawyer to apply to the Council in Uk and he has already done that but we are not sure we beat the deadline for submission so my husband has assured me he is going to write them to grant us an extension to submit if the documents doesn't get to him by Monday but my biggest worry now is I am almost 8months pregnant and I fear that I might get my visa after I have given birth in Nigeria if that happens what do I do. What document is that? |
