karie: Hello house,
I have been a silent reader and must commend u guys for all your efforts on educating peeps like me on childbirth in the US. I renewed my visa first week in October 2016 and found out I was pregnant in late October 2016. Sent in my change of intent letter in December 2016, got a response that I should send in my passport details and name as it is on my passport. I did that then got the generic response.
So in the spirit of giving back, will like to share my POE experience with you all.
Left Gidi on the 30th April for Chicago on Emirates airline, every was smooth just that the flight was long. Fast forward to JFK, i met the cbp officer and the interview went like this:
CBP: where u coming from? Me: Nigeria CBP: what u here for? Me: vacation and childbirth CBP: how many weeks are you? Me: 33 weeks CBP: when are you due? Me: June 10,2017 CBP: who you staying with? Me: my uncle and his wife CBP: how much do you have on u? Me: 9660$ cash and some on my card CBP: ok gimme some minutes
He took my passport inside and at this point I am like God just take control and I kept praying in my mind.
Next he came outside stamped me in as B2 till October 2017 and said have a nice stay.
That's how I entered ooo and moved on to agriculture, scanned 2 of my bags and I was on my way.... Flew Emirates to JFK then south west jet airlines to Chicago midway airport. Now in Chicago chilling for Lo to arrive... hehehe... thank God. Thank you guys for every.
PS: I ll like to say we shouldn't always discourage peeps that renew their visa and decide to go for childbirth instead of vacation as stated when renewing cos once u have sent in your change of intent letter, have enough cash and say the truth then you should be fine.
Thank you guys again. Why? |

GeoffGeoff1992: Hi there
26 year old nigerian male and i've lived in the UK for roughly 7 sevens. married for three years and wondering about success rates of spouse visa into the UK
currently working two jobs (on is a contract which is ending in august) seen my wife for two weeks- four weeks a year since we be married - she has never come to UK
In this time I have seen a greedy side to her and I really don't want her over here but now I've paid for the application process my family insists I see it through.
She's applied for her visa and handed in the relevant documents - will they ask to interview her? also wondering if they will ask her to send evidence of us talking. We used to talk a lot but the past five months I haven't really had much to do with her.
Really looking for anyway this visa can get rejected... any help or advice would be great
thanks Be a man and deal with this and don't treat a woman you married and left in Nigeria for years like this. |

Leave letter Payslip Salary Account statement for 8months or more Personal Account statement for 8months or more Personal Income Tax card Invitation Letter Passport page of the person inviting me Utility bill Marriage certificate Mortgage paper of the person inviting me Your list is ok but you need to add list of places you will be visiting in the UK and the budget for the trip. The budget shouldn't be an estimate, it should be the actual cost of the trip. |

Ollycka: There's mortgage paper for proof of accomodation, I'll look for the letter of refusal, I don't know where I put it, since it happened last July. Please I have one more question, would I be needing the refusal letter when applying this time around? No you don't need to attach the letter |

taiyeayodeji: exactly, what most people dont know is that most nigerians and foreigners are just living an average life abroad and earning minimum wage abroad and some fews live above avearge.People are decieved they are reached because when they change the little money they earn abroad, its big in Nigeria.Like somebody said, poverty is not measured by changing money.assuming the exchange rate was ok and we have infrastrucures and security in Nigeria. i tell you.NO NIGERIAN who spend a day abroad. That is just not true, were Nigerians not migrating abroad when exchange was ok and Nigeria has stable power supple? British, Germans and Americans all travel abroad to live in other countries. I think Nigeria will be a much better place if we stopped living in denial |

Ollycka: Last year when I applied, I declared my current position in the company as the finance manager and I have shares in the company too but all that info made all the document I sent too much, cos I sent the cac, tax clearance , financial statement and so many other things but guess what? The Eco wasn't patient enough to review it all and just gave me a refusal unjustly but I couldn't beg for a review because it said I have no right to appeal so I let it go. This time around, I'm just scared to declare myself as a director because I don't want to submit so much documents because I don't want it working against me.
My salary was 483,550 naira when I applied last year, now it's 507,000 naira. Please Justwise, help me through this ordeal, I don't want to say I'm a director again cos the document I'll take would be too much. Your story has to be consistent with the embassy, you can't apply for visa last year as a director and this year as an ordinary employee with such pay. What you need to do is to work on those reason(s) for the refusal and not changing your employment position. |

jossyking10: Thanks a lot @ Justwise and ekpotek. Please I want to ask another question. In the section where they asked about spouse details. My wife's passport contains her maiden name as her surname because she got the passport before we got married. The surname I am going to write for her must it be the one on that passport or my own surname once we are married. Though she is not going with me but seems there is a space for her passport number on that form. Thanks. Write her surname as its in your marriage certificate and explain the differences just like you pointed out here that she got the passport before marriage. |

Ollycka: Good day Oga Justwise and every other important gurus in the house, this is my issue; I was refused a uk visit visa last year July based on paragraph V.4.2. (a), (b). I applied as a director in my company last year but now I want to apply as a worker in my company because there are more powerful directors in the company now and I'm not the signatory to the company account, so now I want to apply for a visit visa in may since I'll be on leave, my monthly salary is 507,000 Naira and here is what I intend to do 1) Apply as a normal employee in the company 2) I have 600k in my personal account at the moment (Money saved from my salary) and I will be including my may Salary, which would make my balance 1.1m. 3) I'll be staying with my sister who is a citizen, so free accommodation for me. 4) I'll only be paying for my flight (500k) and I'll only be staying 14 days in the uk. 5)I'll be including my PIT card 6) Marriage certificate 7) Eight Months Salary bank statement and personal bank statement. I have 150k in my Salary account at the moment.
Do you think I stand a chance of getting the visa? and is there any other thing I need to add? Looking forward to your response. 1. I'm not sure how that will help your application, last year you were a director and this year you are not again in the same company? Were you demoted? If yes then attach a document to that effect. 2. What was your salary last year when you applied as a director? |

Path21: Justwise,
Please I want to confirm if I can apply for UK visa if I have been refused Schengen visa before or do I need to state the refusal? I was refused Italian visa last year is over one year now but they put a stamp on my passport with date on it. I want to apply for Priority Visa processing which I red is take 5 to 7 working days. Please want is your advise?
Thank you and God bless you Hope to hear from you soon. Going strictly by rule of priority visa service you don't qualify to use priority but last year somebody with US refusal used priority and was given a visa, it was spouse visa application though. That said.. been refused a visa on its own is not a crime, the question is: Why were you refused? Be honest with your application and declare all refusals stamped passport or not |

AreaFada2: I was surprised o. It was those in the game who told me last year.
I just wanted to politely ask if they have put papers in.
To be honest I do not know about the British marriage one. 95% of people I know used the EU marriage route. Only God knows what will happen to new ones after Brexit.
Even some were failed EU marriage cases. But never officially had legal stay, so did not qualify for 10 years mixed legal-illegal stay. 20yrs is for those living here illegally 5yrs for those holding spouse visa or work permit. 10yrs used to be possible through education but the home office has effectively closed down the long study route |

bjhaid: not even my friend, I mean my bro, why should I exaggerate things? I don't even count it as big deal. Dude companies in western world don't give their managers a driver or an accommodation like we have in Nigeria. You get those yourself from your employment package. |

Dude i don't know any company in western world that gives a personal driver to their managers. you drive yourself or find your way to work. Is either your friend is lying or you are exaggerating things |

bebe2: As Syrians and afghans how to got to Europe, There is war and famine in Nigeria.
I only said don't discourage pple by exaggerating, It's all over this forum.
Someone said he married a German citizen and was asking for ways to process his papers out of the country, go and see the comments he got.
Dat was the trigger behind this post. I'm sorry but that is not true, that nairalander was not discouraged rather few people were trying to help him, i gave him a link to the list of documents needed for spouse visa application. This is the thread https://www.nairaland.com/3751442/got-married-german-woman#55764010I know your view when it comes to traveling out of Nigeria by all means and abuse of immigration rules. How can you compare the situation in Nigeria to that of Syria and Afghanistan? What farming in Nigeria are you talking about? If you can afford to pay visa fees and flight ticket to any western country THEN you are not poor. |

Saintsquare: Ok,even tho its sounds somehow,we can't ignore the fact many immigrants have become someone in life through such means but I won't encourage peeps to engage in such as some have ended up in prison or being killed self. Very very few cases in the past and that doesn't mean we should encourage it because it affects other legitimate visa applicants and it does lead to change in visa rules. |

bebe2: Disclaimer: am not an agent, neither do I know of how to get pple to western countries LEGITIMATELY nor ILLEGITIMATELY
But my opinion is , if u find the current state of Nigeria unbearable, and u want to leave the country pls do so by any means u can.
I do not advise going to Europe by land, only because the route is saturated, there are too many pple using and it's unsafe. If you don't know how to get anybody to western countries legally or illegally then why are you calling people who give their opinion based on experience 'wickedness'? |

Saintsquare: Op they are coming for u o ,they will tell how its so difficult to live abroad ,they will also list lots of tax to make it seems no be human being dey pay am. They would come home to show off wealth they accumulated, post nice things on social media for people to hail them but when you mention your interest to come then voila they will describe abroad like Somalia.. I don't encourage peeps who got no travel plans thereby turning to illegal immigrants which might result to being homeless, have a solid and sensible plan.Nigeria is really not easy o,may God help us. bebe2: I totally understand u,
But I do think for some pple traveling could be the only way out.
Now , I don't live in the USA so I can't tell wat illegals go through but in the uk they can get a job not legally though, and the smart ones will work 80 hrs a week quickly buy a small plot , build a one goat for their family back home . And u know once accommodation is settled , life is much easier anywhere in the world.
Getting in illegally does not mean one will never be legal. Once u are in u start to walk the ropes to settlement like millions of illegals before u. You don't understand why she started this thread |

bebe2: This is getting annoying , how come each time a person is asking for directions on how to travel abroad most pple in diaspora will be discouraging the person.
If it's dat terrible why are u still there?
You enjoy the benefits of living in an organised society, knowing fully well that naija is a difficult place to live.
Are u scared of the competition the new immigrants will bring?
Nigerians in diaspora , what exactly are u afraid off?? @bebe2 you live here in the UK right? This is what i want you to do..start a thread in this section and invite any Nigerian interested in moving to the UK to live and work then guild them on how to do it LEGITIMATELY I promise to moderate that thread so that it will not be derailed. These are the conditions: 1. It shouldn't be used to encourage people to circumvent immigration rules 2. No dropping of contact details or 'pm me for further details'. 3. No agency discussion. Deal? |

beautifulOnyi: Thanks a lot. I found a hotel one of my friends used for £12 a night. I'll be staying for 3 nights. The 4th day I'll be travelling back. I've been to the UK before (2012) on a tier 4 student visa which is very staightforward. This is my 1st time of applying as for standard visitor. Thanks once again. No proper hotel in the UK for that amount. Maybe that is B&B and not a proper hotel. Do a google search of that hotel to see if there is any review on it. |
