FrontPageLawyer: @Justwise.
I have been following this thread for more than two years which is the most successful I have ever come across on Nairaland. With the recent imbroglio; public opinion has shown that majority of its members support for Costs, Doctors and Hospitals to be posted freely which doesn’t necessarily mean they are here to indirectly advertise for hospitals. This support has remained above 97% consistently in opinion polls since this outcry.
Conflict isn't necessarily a bad thing. If it's open and direct, it helps in dealing with issues and building consensus. As a leader, you should be able to mediate conflict and reach consensus among members of this forum.
Justwise, please focus on the real issues of this thread which is cost and procedures which falls under, Doctors, Hospitals and Costs. When the Mods and Admins disagree with members of this forum and the purpose of this thread is defeated, they burn bridges they may never be able to repair. Do not let other bloggers take advantage of this decision which could drastically reduce your members.
Conflict is a normal part of any healthy organization. After all, we all can’t be expected to agree on everything all the time. Learning how to deal with conflict rather than avoiding it is very crucial in leadership and management.
I'll suggest for the Admins to restrategize because we all understand that the purpose of this outcry is to protect the interest of your clients without breaching contracts and Nairaland's interest is also to maximize profit regardless of members opinion. It is a very complicated situation which should be intelligently managed.
But remember without Nairalanders, Nairaland will go into extinction and out of business while those Hospitals which interest you are protecting will remain in business. People benefit from nairaland while nairaland benefit from your visit and contributions, it's not one way thing. It cost 47k a week to place an ad in politics section even without any thread such as this. Don't always think that if you stop posting here that this section or nairaland will be gone. I'm reading and trying to come up with fair decision but will not drawn be into this issue of: without us there is no nairaland |

FinanceFitness: Hmmm.... So many pages of argument.... The current position is not beneficial to mums and will not be beneficial to nairaland family in the long run.
On agents and all, free riders are always there in our everyday lives, we cannot do without them - e.g, I pay huge taxes to government, most don't pay but enjoy the same road and amenities the government provide.
Whatever Justwise and co decide - I guess we don't have a choice? It is their forum.
But they should just remember that if there is no more info on this thread, it will eventually die a natural death.
@Justwise, I think things will naturally evolve to the next level if you allow this thread to die - it may be a natural consequence that may take a long time, but it may happen. You are wrong. |

bigfido: Half of the pages on this part is full of argument as against the purpose of the thread. The thread is becoming useless. As a member of nairaland, you can start your own thread and name it "The real cost and procedures of giving birth in US" since the moderator has decided to remove the cost aspect of it. If people haven't done their research and posted them here in the first place, I don't know how you would have even gotten these advertisement you are protecting so much without considering the end users. In as much as I understand that the business aspect is very important, you also have to consider those that make the thread what it is. Nothing stops you from listening to people's opinion and aligning with them to make the thread useful to both the advertising company and the end user. Anyways, that's my one kobo. We all are not perfect, but please sometimes, be nice with your replies . They come across as being rude. Shalom I couldn't be nicer. |

Ojady: This conservative government led by Cameron is to a great extent racial discriminating. Since their entry to government, majority of their policies has been anti non-EU migrant. It was this coalition government that scrapped the Highly skilled migrant programme, scrapped the post study work programme; imposed near ridiculous conditions to joining or being joined by one's family in the UK, hiked international students fees, allowed schools to charge well over 200percent from international students and other draconian policies. The truth is, there is a hidden agenda, a fact they want to hide. For instance, anyone who has ever lived in the UK, either as a student, immigrant, visitor etc knows that living there on a job of 40hours a week is near impossible. You either work 2 jobs or you work overtime on your one job. I personally know Nigerians who do 16 hours of work every day, that equals 80hours a week. These people get taxed massively. A number of them are not on any benefits, they are law abiding, they try to even claim tax credits on the hard work they do , but the systemic discrimination disallows them from following through. The arrogant UK government, tax you for free medical care , something you dont even use up to 10percent annually, cos you are rarely iill; they deduct pensions and you cant even transfer it to your home country until 65 or retired. That doesnt matter cos you would have been so harassed with deportation, their allowing you to stay would be enough. I dont know about other countries but what i do know is the UK employs discriminatory behaviour to cover up the truely significant contribution of not only Nigerians but Africans to their shitty country. I don't you know what you are talking about. |

That is not possible even Jesus was unable to achieve that. Not every decision will be acceptable by all and this issue is been blown out of proportion. |

Any idea, why the English law and by extension British law doesn't recognize "Nigeria" as an English speaking country?
Who is deceiving Who here? Blame our quality of education, when some primary and secondary school teachers are unable to express themselves properly what do you expect from their students? You can't even find a single university from Nigeria in the list of world ranking universities. |

What's wrong with sending home all those old people to unite with the families they left behind more than 50 years ago in osun, Ibadan, akure etc.
Do you people know how much it costs to send people home in boxes. UK govt is being very generous by offering to transport these Peckham illegal migrants who give Nigeria bad names abroad free flight.
UK should pack them 3 in a seat. They should lap each other and the one being lapped should lap another person. No it was because of your tribal comment in that hidden post. |

Meanwhile, I move the motion that the topic of this thread be changed since it will amount to gross misrepresentation if cost cannot be mentioned in a thread which its heading clearly reads COST and procedure. A more appropriate/ correct heading should actually be considered I promise you this...the title of this thread will not change only if the admin demands it. |

Austine2020: Not everyone that knows how to here,I myself dont know how to pm. U are correct, But remember that those old information might not be good for them. because of the city or state they intend to give birth to their LO. Everyone intended birthing city or states are different and every city or states with its own information about good birthing prices & good doctors prices as well. So i dont see it as a problem to give a good information about a doctor or Hospital that can benefit the people that might need them. Remember that information is powerful and without new information i dont think this thread will move forward. If you can afford to invest millions into going to US for child birth but can't spend a week researching the cost then you really not ready |

On the matter of checking part one of this thread, I guess most of d prices in that thread would have changed hence no nid to check... I rest my case. MayMaj: Gud morn pple...

Got a very gud deal in California where the cost of everything including doctors fee is less than 5000...

olokings: I totally agree with ur view.
@justwise I really crave ur indulgence to review this new policy perspective. I perceive as being counter productive on the long run. If you look at the cumulative effective of the inability to post hospital and doctor's costs n packages this thread will become stale very fast.
You will have fewer visitors being that the veterans ll have no need to revisit, newbies (most of who refuse to read d thread and want veterans whom read n gain new info from posts to school them) , those who visit just look at the advert and waka pass....
Furthermore, the very few who pay to advertise definitely CANNOT handlethe population of intensified pilgrims ergo the likelihood of upward review of their prices in due time.
Furthernow with a reduction in visitors the advert customers will discontinue their patronage given d thread ll become expendable to them.
Trust me when members research and bring new info shared here, the name nairalandteens to go far and wide across the states buh if the put such a caveat on such then u are restriction the brand to just the houston axis, I don't think this is ur plan view floor it ryt?.
If I should give u an idea, rather than concentrating on coy advert only, why don't u look at an annual fee of say #2,000.00.... multiply that by the number by the number of annual visitors on this thread. .. trust that given the value of information resident here 2k will b nothing compared.
In addition to that even the so called trolls will have to pay to come and glean info from here. ...
The coy advertising here kip getting their share of customers. ..while those who wishes to look elsewhere kip enriching NL community.
Don't u think this is a win win situation given the likely outcome of ur new policy regime?
Cos truly chief ur focus is to build membersand visitors because without us these coy won't even look ur way for advert.
My candid perspective though. ..d decision remains urs Don't you think you are blowing this out of proportion? This is not the only thread in this section and all visitors are not pregnant mums. |

nefertitiram: In the light of the below post, JW just made a lot of sense, because I was wondering the rationale behind deleting hosp names. The MIHS and the Mobap effect are typical examples, and hiding the hosp name is for the benefit of us all in the long run. Agents are busy advertising for specific docs n hosps, agents r lurking around here on ghostmode waiting for people to discover fresh deals only to pounce on them and frustrate it for everyone else when the hosps are tired of hearing from us. Infact, lurkers have began to make this thread a bad place to drop info, and JW in his wisdom has found a way around it. Thanks Bros, good job!
Here's the thing, like mama MayMaj that found a good NJ price, instead of dropping the name of the hosp, she can drop the quotes and interested people can PM her for specific It is now her prerogative to decide who to respond to or not, as some of these agents may pose as patients seeking this info, but at least, it will reduce the rate at which 9ja patients r bounced from embassy and US hospitals.
Hosps that want 9ja patients should pay for advert. Shikena!
For the first time, I'm supporting JW, Hehehe Has that not happened already here? She insulted me and deactivated her account when u exposed her |

shawlar: I think I also understand how difficult the job is for @justwise but he should also consider how restrictive its becoming for peeps to post on this forum. If we can't post ordinary doc/hospital details and cost here for comparison, then how are we helping others... very soon even poe & visa interviews will be off-limit. (as soon as poe's & individual consulates start advertising ) @justwise; remember that advertisers are coming for this page becos of the number of visits/page views it gets and people would stop visiting if there is no more information for them to gain here or to share thereby also affecting the advertising.... ..and they will stop advertising when they see that other hospitals are enjoying free ad here and nobody bothered to click on their own ad. Those who finally started paying to place an ad here were once enjoying free in-thread here, some have IDs here at the beginning, some used members here to promote their hospitals promising them discounts. Its two ways relationship and i'm trying to strike that balance. |
