Hello Justwise

I have email all the whatsapp chat from December 2014 to 11 July 2015 and if I have to print all, it will be over 2000 sheets. So please advice me on what to do.

Thank you

Hello Justwise

I need advice on a visa refusal. My husband got his passport today and he is been refused on the following grounds:
We first met on 10/04/2012 and started the relationship in August 2012 and got married on 06/08/2014
We used calling cards as evidence of communication but the calling cards have no names and they aware that cards are readily available in Ghana to purchase as second hand. There is no itemised telephone records so they not satisfied.
The photographs provided are of our wedding day with a few on different occasions. However it appears that these photographs were all taken during the same visit by your sponsor. So therefore am not satisfied. Furthermore there is no evidence that your sponsor has been to visit you after the marriage on August 2014. Am not satisfied that your relationship is genuine and subsisting or that you intend to live together permanently in the UK.

Those are the reasons. Please advice me on what to do? Should I do the appeal or what? And If I do, and add extra supporting documents as I went to Ghana last month as a prove, do we have a chance ? Do I need to get a lawyer? Any suggestions on the platform will be appreciated. Thank you
Did you submit email and whatsapp communication last time you applied?

thanks and 1 more thing, i would be travelling with my wife she works at a bank with a salary of 150/month
and we would be staying for 15days, thanks alot for your input.. smiley
The combination of both salaries are good and as long as you don't spend more than two months of both salaries your chances are good.

How to go about what? Putting your documents together or explaining how/why you think the ECO got it wrong?

@ Firsttymum: Everyone is asked , it is on the landing card, so you are meant to check the box against 'are you carrying more than.....?'
Do note that they will convert every currency you are holding (including Naira) and check if it adds up to more than the limit for declaration.
I noticed an elderly Nigerian man once, he did not declare on his form and was sent to secondary inspection to count his money, as a first- time offender, he was only asked to fill and sign a 'warning form' that he would not do it (not declare excess) again.

@ Justwise

I doff my heart for you, you must be an encyclopedia on many issues, I have seen you moderating several threads which means you read them all. I wish I had your number on speed dial. I hail my brother.
I do read many posts, some line by line and some i just rush-through them though in some threads i read 'closely'

Hello, I need your help.
I went through my mail now just to see a msg from LagosNIV reading that my immigrant Visa is ready for pickup since October 2nd . I plan on going there tomorrow, pls do you know if there's a time limit to Visa pick up? Will I still be able to pick it up tomorrow?
Justwise, sorry I came here to look for you cos the immigrant visa thread was closed due to the absence of a VO.
You got no problem picking it up tomorrow since there was no time limit given.

Hi Justwise

Thanks for answering my questions. Please do you think we will need a lawyer for the appeal has is a low case one. I contacted two today one says they will charge £1,500 and the other said £1,800. Please can you advice me or if you can recommend a good one for me. God bless
You don't need a lawyer for the appeal, apart from getting all the documents together you will only need to write and appeal statement...

The statement is basically addressing each refusal point and nothing else. Just point out areas you think the ECO got it wrong that is all.

I have already paid for accomodation 910pounds per month

I have a receipt for all payment made into the school account.

Thank you
London monthly maintenance money for foreign students is £1020, the 910 you paid for accommodation is over the top.

So budget additional £800 per month for other expenses...feeding, transport etc since the accommodation is paid already

So when u r coming with more than $10000 and u ain't asked nko? Cc justwise

Everytime I nd my hubby has traveled we've never been asked. We only state it on our landing card.

Is there a special place to declare u r travelling with more than $10k
You declare it with the immigration at the airport though doing that with Nigeria immigration is a different story entirely but when you are randomly searched and the money is discovered the question will be..did you declare it or why did not declare it?

Yes its perfectly possible to go through with such money without anybody bothering you but when they do....

Hello Prof Justwise,

Am just curious. Is there is specific reason for breaking the thread at 400 pages. I see other threads doing 1000.

Thumbs up for the good qork you are doing
Its too long for people to read through for previous posts, its not fair to ask people to read through 400 + pages for info.

FrontPageLawyer:
Until you open your application, the decision of the visa officer is unknown to anyone.

But from my understanding and research, about 90% of returned visa applications with a VAF reference number as email subject from UKBA email were successful.

Stay calm and relax.
VAF basically means Visa Application Form, the ECO number that follows it uniquely identifies your application.

The same thing...$10,000 max, people carry above that in card, cheque or cash but you have to declare it.

You are absolutely right. The limit is $10,000 and the lady is very lucky she didn't lose the money. I was coming to Nigeria about 7 weeks ago and I had $17.000 dollars on me but I reported the money to Homeland Department before boarding the flight to Nigeria and everything went well. The lady was luck that she met a nice agent at the POE.
Safer.

It's $10,000 OR IT'S EQUIVALENT and not 10,000 (£,$,€)
Its $10,000 if you leaving or entering US and €10,000 if one is traveling outside the EU or equivalent in other currencies though you have to declare it.

The same with £s, if i'm leaving the UK with up to £10,000 i have to declare it, it doesn't have to be $s

First was my application has been recieved and the second was a decision has been made on my application both mails has the VAF numbers. Could u please confirm to me if this is a sign of success. No.

VAF number is just your application ref number, issued or refused the letter will still carry that number

I don't know of any new laws but when I was coming via Abj I had an issue with them I declared 14k and I was stopped and taken to another office where the oga was, I was asked why I was carrying above the limit and I asked what the limit was even though I dint get a response I just said it was cash for my medical bills and cost of living as I will be away for 4months. The guy brought out a form for me to fill, asked where I got the cash I said PTA and personal savings, he asked for what I do and what my husband does as well and requested for our complimentary cards and it was stapled to the form
The limit is 10.000(£,$,€) anything above that will be regarded as money laundering, if you failed to explain the source the money will be seized.
