For those of you who have got your visa and are travelling very soon, please take these along amongst your other useful stuff:

1. Thick sweaters and cardigans

2. Thick jeans

3. Good portable umbrella

4. Portable heater (if you have already) this is particularly relevant for those staying in shared apartments, as you don't want to run the bills because you are just heating your room.

5. Adaptor and extension wire box

6. Your favourite african meals

7. Aboniki or robb

8. Slippers or Flip Flop

9. Plenty socks

10. Your favourite movies (boredom overload)

11. Powdered milk and milo

12. Vaseline or lotion

If you forget anthing, know that whenever you decide to buy it at the stores in the UK, please don't convert to naija currency, because you will be terribly bitter.

Don't be overly excited, pack the relevant and necessary stuff!

Anyways, safe trip folks and good luck in your studies.
Portable heater will skyrocket your electric bill and your landlord or Flatmates will not find that funny.

Most of the things you listed there are cheap in the UK if you know where to shop

I submitted my application online yesterday and I am billed for Interview on Tuesday (with my wife). I want to draft a cover letter and include in the application, kindly advise on the following:

- Who do i address the cover letter to?

-What and what do i need to state in the letter?

- Can i use one cover letter for the two of us?

Also, the kids are not travelling with us, do i need to include their birth certificates in the application?

Thanks a milion
1. To the ECO(Entry Clearance Officer)

2. You want to write cover letter and should know what you should include.

3. Yes you can because you are traveling together.

4. Yes you have to.

go to Mars ..here on earth there is no race ,community or ethnic nationality crimes free, while others have managed to not b labelled by their crimes or the crimes committed by members of their races , blacks and Africans are the only ones exposing their bad eggs and behaving like self righteous persons ..no matter how much you denounce scams ,rapes ,drug pushing, others will always see you as sub humans and look down on you, so why submit ourselves to their moral police ? Have you ever seen a white person or a white media talking about this is what we white do in Thailand /Asia and Africa , we are pedophiles , we rape , and fck lil children , or chinese saying this is what blah blah no never they are always showing themselves in good light to their outside world ...only Africans and blacks go around bad mouthing their own communities
This is just nonsense and uninformed statement. If you don't know why not read around rather than saying something you got no clue about?

There are a lot of TV programs in the UK and US dedicated on exposing paedophiles, fraudster, drug dealers etc. All you are interested in is supporting your own criminal.

Hello every one i need your Advice
Last year november i apply for a uk visa, i was a student and run my own personal business, i submitted all documents to back that up, thou they agreed i was a student but i was refused based on the fact that my total balance doesnt reflect my income(though my account was not organized)
I reapplied a week later and was refused
based on the fact that i didnt state what i will be doing whilst in the Uk with my time, no proper intenary and that i didnt state where i have been buying my goods before i decide to go and buy in the uk( i actually gave them receipt of purchased goods and i stated that i have traved to Dubia)
After that i waited for a year... Here are my issues
My uncle runs a show every year in the Uk and i want to go with them this time.
He said i can join them ,and that he will give me a work position with his crew.
Now my question is?
How do i address my previous refusal prior to this recent circumstances
Do i state that i am a graduate now and i work with xyz company now
Wont dey be borthered of my previous business?
Or state that i work with xyz company as part time and still run my business, because someone is managing it for me while i will be away... Please i need your urgent answer or suggestions
Mixshantel:
He is into comedy, and he wants to hold the show in Uk this year, and i just started working for him, i have the position of ( official makeup artist and costumier) for the event....
Your application is sounding too desperate and you are likely going to get another refusal. The situation with your uncle is just an arrangement because in real sense you are not part of the crew neither are you a qualified make-up artist.

I was at M/M airport just 4 weeks ago and back in Chicago now. I am a constant visitor to Nigeria and other countries in Africa for work mostly. If you stop giving bribe to them , there is nothing they can do to you. I dont have to tell you how many times I have gotten into confrontation with them and they will just sigh and let go off me. We can't stop corruption in Nigeria if we just follow the status quo.
That is absolutely right, had issues with them in 2000 my first time leaving Nigeria and they wanted to take advantage of that, I refused to give them the only dollar with me without a receipt for collecting that money from me, I was delayed but when they got tired of delaying me I was let go. They will do jack if you refused to give them penny.

That will put you in a very bad light, you can't possibly depend that considering the fact that you have a record already with the embassy.

Hey all

Apologies i have been away, not been well had 2 weeks of sick from my work sad with really bad anxiety, all well now though.

Im nearing for hubby to submit which is next month (jeez that seems weird saying next month ha ha)

Few questions:

i) Does hubby need a copy of our marriage certificate to submit in Nigeria, since I have it in the UK with me and Ikoyi wont issue a copy?

ii) My payslips are all online, they have the company logo etc, do I need these to be stamped too? (I am supplying payslips from April 2014 to the most recent) My bank have agreed to stamp my online ones, but did say HO should accept them.

iii) What is the website address to start the application?

iiii) Please can you advise me of what happens once hubby has filled out the application online, and is it worth to pay for the priority service?

Thank you

Karen
(10 days till I am in Lagos, to see hubby whoopie)
1. Not necessary since you will be submitting it from the UK.

2. No need for a stamp as they carry all the info needed for verification.

3.https://www.gov.uk/apply-uk-visa

4. I don't think priority service is needed here as spouse visa application takes average of 3 months. He needs to submit the application online and offline as well. The same online form need to be printed out signed and taken to visa centre for submission together with all the documents he submitted online and his biometric details will be taken. He will be given an appointment date after submitting online.

I meant,i have a cousin that keeps my pounds for me in his acct in UK and I have up to the amount of my school fees in his acct already.Asking if it will be wise to tell my cousin to send the pounds in naira equivalent to my acct in Nigeria or Make him pay my fees on my behalf while i apply for my visa showing the evidence that all my fees has already been made.because he paid my school registration fees via online banking for me to secure my space for April 2016.

Please will it be advisable for him to send all my money i have with him in UK to my acct in Nigeria so as to apply for my visa or I still tell him to go ahead and make all payments while the school sends me the evidence of payment to present at the embassy while applying for my visa?

Thank you
Surely your cousin can do that there is no point sending the money to Nigeria

@Justwise

I really commend your efforts replying pple on this forum but i want to ask knowing the facts that you have answered me earlier on the short course i intend doing in UK by April.

I want to know if it is advisable to pay all fees related to my course before applying for my studies because most of my funds are tied in UK and i wouldn't want to send the money to Nigeria, apply for visa and send it back.

In short,i have all the fees in UK and i intend paying so that the school can issue me receipts, then i can apply for my school as you said by january or February.

Pls what is your take?
Trying to understand what you meant by your funds are tied in the UK and you wouldn't want to send the money to Nigeria to apply for visa and send it back.

tnxx @justwise for your response.....what do u mean by been honest in d new application? I was adviced to get a lawyer to help write in the application about the ban and appeal together with d fresh application....how true is that and can t work like that.
Be honest with your immigration record with UK visa application, don't hid any previous refusal.

Getting a lawyer to write an appeal about what? That you were banned wrongly or what?

You are only going to make bad situation worst.
