@ thread especially to those who've lived /are living in UK, how much is too much for accommodation?
Attached are a North East Uni's accommodation offers [in 3 different halls] Going by my online research , I've discovered one [to which I'm currently leaning] which is privately owned costing about £3,000.00 for a 50 week contract (£3,250.00 for en suite) which has the facilities listed in the last image...is it commensurate to the facilities been offered? Non the less, research continues in case something better and more affordable can pop up even before I hit Heathrow
@ mod, is it that images are not attachable in the travel section? I've been at it for about 5 times now yet no dice One can attach image in travel section, check if the size of the image is bigger than the allowed size limit. If you do it well it will appear here |

Dis Guy: True but there are some universities or towns without proper accommodations, in cities in London and Manchester the closer to the uni the more expensive these private accommodations are. To some international students 30minutes advertised in the brochure or online in actual fact is double that, all in a bid to get cheaper rates jump at these until the reality sets in; with poor transport links, lonely dark streets, cold snobbish neighbours etc
Its very important international students arrive early to view the rooms they are paying for, view more than one option and not be rushed to make decisions That is the key, room pictures posted online are miles away from the actual condition of the room, the same with school accommodation, they only upload new pictures when the room is newly renovated, after that..they use the same picture to sell the room to foreign students yr in, yr out. |

jntyjnty007: So judging by your response he would need a sponsor, such as his wife, to finance the trip. Is that a way he could go? Or is it best for him to wait for his wife and go with her. Because he thinks she just has to go to the embassy with him and give wedding pictures and proof of income. I can't believe it to be that easy. Even with his wife as a sponsor your brother will struggle to get a visa, as an adult with previous record of violating immigration rule he need to convince the ECO beyond every reasonable doubt that he can afford the trip and return back to Nigeria. Even if he is married to the queen of England he can't just walk in into the BHC with wedding pictures and get a visa. He will be turned back and asked to go through normal process. |

Dis Guy: University accommodation is safe, usually furnished and inclusive!
theres are some cost students dont calculate when looking for accommodation like transport to and from lectures You are more likely to get the 'Student experience' living in university accommodation than living off; personally i feel many international student get carried away easily when living in privately rented flats as they are more likely to be living with other immigrants who are working and tend to get sucked in, making that (earning an income) their main priority
You get involved more with university life, your rooms cleaned once a week, you get repairs done by the management, no need to be chasing after some dodgy landlord who'll ask for more money, you might even get under floor heating!! You get that with private rented accommodation as well and many of them are just walkable distance from the university, many private accommodations are shared with other foreign students so you don't really miss out in social life. University like Portsmouth has free bus ride for students, so no matter how far you live the university pick and drop you 7days a week. |

adaobi123: well if you planning to budget, university accommodation is too expensive (however it depends oh where you go) most universities i know cost at least £3500. I live in the uk and i am eligible for student grant and maintenance loan and this will help pay the accommodation fees for the year and what is left i will use for the rest of the year. I'll probably have like £5200 left and i know that my parents are not the wealthiest of people, they will try and give me some money monthly. Plus living outside university accommodation is way cheaper.......so at my first year i may live outside just because of cost reasons. I want to study in portsmouth and i have found accommodation which costs around £60-70 per week, which has wi-fi, heating, electricity etc. Living outisde univeristy i could save myself a couple hundreds of pounds. compared to university accommodation, you are getting more for your money..........to be honest university accommodation IS A BUMP !! Not really to be honest...many university accommodation is a rip-off, daylight robbery all planned to suck a living daylight out of foreign students. What you pay for single-bedroom in university accommodation will get you double-bedroom in private rented accommodation with all the bills included. Socially.. living in university accommodation is great because you get to meet all sorts of people. University accommodation is not for students on budget, its expensive and in many cases sub-standard, for you to have a good university accommodation you will pay through your nose. Let me put it this way....university accommodation is for home students, Chinese students and other rich EU students. |

She wants to stay until next January, because she has a very good job. He wants to go in the next couple of months. Her concern is, that she does not want him to get into trouble like he did the first time.
Can he go back to the UK without any issues, bearing in mind he was told to leave once before?
Yes I agree I know little about this bill in question, it would help if you could point out how countries like Iran, Iraq, Indonesia, would be be kicked out too for not allowing lesbianism in their female national team. Just as well you really do not know much about international affair just stay at your travel section and do not post on things which is beyond your understanding.
Could you also provide a link to support your argument on the FIFA rule on sexual discrimination which has been in place for a decade long? I tell you FIFA does not have the balls to kick the Nigeria female team out if this is our law then it is our law.
I for one, and so many in this country will not allow some fat men with belly pots in Switzerland to dictate to our elected legislators, I know this is not a problem for you, FIFA knows the gravity of kicking us out and will dare not.
If homosexuality is to become illegal in Nigeria, would the female national team be excluded from that law, a separate law will apply to them simply because FIFA says that?
ignorance is bliss for real, the bill that is yet to be signed into law is against gay marriage and public display of affection by gay people, that law is not against people being gay or having sexual relationship by gay people, get the different before you continue making fool of yourself.
As for FIFA rule on sexual discrimination..i will not going to do the dirty job for you, i rather point you to where to read, go and read FIFA Code of Ethics number 23 of non-discrimination then learn from there and save yourself this display of ignorance.
When FIFA suspended NFF in 2010 because of government interference in the running of Nigerian football what did you and other hot-air blower did? Nothing, the govt back tracted and the suspension was lifted. |
You don't have to comment on things which you do not have sufficient knowledge of, FIFA cannot kick out Nigeria female team as you claimed, there is a court that will indeed overturn that decision if FIFA will ever take that action, or in your little world you think the FIFA is answerable to no one? If the President signs the bill, homosexuality will become a crime in the country, FIFA cannot overturn the decision of elected legislators. I just hate it when you spout nonsense for the sake of it.
You just managed to post rubbish about a bill you know little about, who told you that signing that bill into law will prevent lesbian players from playing for Nigeria? Tell me any part of that bill that state that since your little jelly fish brain is deceiving you again today as usual.
Yes FIFA rules will over rule Nigeria law, Nigeria should not be part of any organization which rules they do not agree with. FIFA rule on sexual discrimination has being in place for ages and Nigeria signed it as a member state. |

It must be some innate inability to grasp the subject of discussion. Homosexuals are human beings, born like you and I, their human rights are enshrined in the constitution same as mine and yours! that includes the right to privacy!
What the law is simply trying to guard against is the western misconception that public declaration of sexual orientation is aa human right and extends to marriage. If this laws spurs those with out brains to keep spewing this kind of NFF gaff, then I guess it will be short lived. If you molest a lesbian, that makes you a criminal! gunpoint: http://www.inbrief.co.uk/football-law/footballer-work-permits.htm What requirements are there for international footballers to have work permits?
International Footballers and the FA Premier League
The Football Association Premier League is one of the most cosmopolitan football leagues in the world with players from all around the globe plying their trade in England. The way the league has shaped up since its inception in the early 90’s was that most of the players would be from the home nations with the only foreigners coming from Europe. Occasionally the odd African player or South American player would emerge but this was not the norm.
Currently there are huge amounts of African players, players from South America and even from Asia in amongst the huge amount of Europeans.
However, due to the fact that some foreign players can be procured for cheaper transfer fees than home grown talent many clubs in the lower divisions of English football are turning their attentions and transfer budgets to foreign players.
Free Movement of Workers
Within the European Union workers are able to move freely between European Union Member States without the need for work permits and visas. Footballers for the purpose of the law are regarded as workers and so can rely on the EC Treaty.
As a consequence a club playing in England can procure the services or European footballers without the need to apply for a work permit for that player.
The Bosman Decision
The Bosman decision has also enabled players from within the European Union to move between clubs based in European Union Member States for free when they are not under contract with any club.
The decision in the Bosman case has had much of an effect on the movement of players to the lower leagues of English football.
Which players do need work permits?
Football players who are from outside Europe will be required to obtain a work permit if they wish to ply their trade in English football.
Will all football players who apply for work permits automatically be granted them?
Not all footballers who wish to apply for work permits will be automatically be granted them as there is specific criteria by which the immigration authorities will judge the application.
What are the criteria which will be used?
Work permits will only be issued to international football players of the highest calibre who will be able to make a significant contribution to the development of the game of football in the United Kingdom at the highest level.
How is it established that the player is an international player of the highest calibre?
In order to establish on an initial application that the player is an international player of the highest calibre the following criteria must be met:
A player must have player for his country in at least 75% of its competitive A team matches of which he was available for selection, during the two years preceding the date of the application
The player’s country must be at or above 70th place in the official FIFA world rankings when averaged over the two years preceding the date of the application
What is meant by a competitive A team international match?
A competitive A team international match is one of the following:
World Cup Finals game
World Cup Qualifying group game
Football Association confederation tournament game, for example:
The FIFA Confederations Cup
The UEFA European Championships and Qualifiers
The African Cup of Nations and Qualifiers
The Asia Nations Cup and Qualifiers
The CONCACAF Gold Cup
The CONCACAF The Copa Caribe
The CONMEBOL Copa America
The OFC Nations Cup and
The UNCAF Nations Cup
Who has to submit the application?
It is the responsibility of the club that wishes to sign a player to make an application for a work permit on behalf of that player. In most cases the club will have agreed a contract with the player with the final stumbling block being the work permit.
It is therefore the job of the club to provide written confirmation of the player’s international appearance record of the proceeding two years highlighting the competitive A matches.
This information should be obtained from the National Governing Body which that player represents and then provided to the UK Border Agency who will not be able to make a decision until this is provided.
What happens if a player has been injured?
If a player has been injured during this time period meaning that he has been unable to represent his country this will be taken into consideration when assessing the application. If this is the case the club will need to provide supporting evidence.
What happens if a player has not been granted a work permit?
If a football player does not fulfil the above criteria and has his application for a work permit turned down there is the possibility for a club to appeal the decision. This appeal will be heard by an independent panel and it will be the job of the panel to assess the following things:
To consider whether the player is of the highest calibre
To consider whether the player is able to contribute significantly to the development of the game at the top level in the UK
It is often the case that when clubs sign young players who have not had the opportunity to play for their national side due to their age the work permit will be granted due to the ability and potential shown by that player in their fledgling career.
If a player meets the criteria how long will a work permit be granted for?
If a player meets the criteria a work permit will be granted for the same length of time for which the player has been contracted at the club – the maximum length of a contract can be five years.
What happens if a club wishes to retain the services of a player after his initial contract expires?
When the work permit is about to expire if the club wishes to retain the services of the player they must apply for an extension before the permit expires. If the player again meets the above criteria it will be granted for the period of the player’s contract. If the player does not meet the criteria then the club can request for a panel to hear the case.
What happens if a club wishes to renew a player’s contract before it expires?
Often football clubs wish their players to sign new contracts a long time before their first one expires for a variety of reasons. For example the player may have performed better than expected so the club will wish to tie him down for another five years with better paid wages to ward off the threat from other clubs wishing to sign him.
In this case the club will need to apply for another work permit and if the above criteria are met the permit will be granted.
Contract Greater than 12 months
If the criteria are not met and the contract is for greater than 12 months and the club have requested a panel the UK Border Agency will approach the national governing body asking if they believe that the case needs to be heard by a panel. If the governing body feels unanimously that the case does not need to go to a panel the permit will be granted.
Contract less than 12 months
If the criteria are not met and the contract is for less than 12 months and the club has requested a panel, it will be arranged as normal.
What happens if a player is sold or loaned during his contractual period?
If a player is sold or loaned to another club before his initial contract has expired that the second club will have to make another application on the player’s behalf.
Follow that link and ask a qualified sports lawyer wat other questions u hv bt here is my submission 1)You haven't played 75% of games for Nigeria bt @ 21 maybe(just maybe) u can argue age.(Certainly a willin club will already retain a lawyer to argue these tins) 2)Nigeria "HAS" been ranked @ above 70 in the world rankings for donkey years now. 3)Clubs can and do sponsor player visas or "work permits" if the player is already in the country. 4)The English FA allows for clubs to argue the case for why a player shuld be granted entry into the league. It isn't always granted but like you said if you are good enuf and a club(not utd, city, blues oh!) think you will add something to their team, they will take you on I suppose.
Sorry about my earlier assumtion that lower league teams don't answer to the 75% rule, they all do but as you can see, there is a window of opportunity opened to go round it in my opinion. But hey, don't take my word for it, ask the lawyers on that link I posted up there. Hope it helped There is nothing a lawyer will do for a player at the age of 22 who have not had a national call-up let alone play a single game for Nigeria, never signed a professional contract with any local team, if he is under 16 then he will go through club academy by the time he gets to 16 yrs of age the home-player rules kicks in and he qualifies. As far as FA rules is concerned his chances are almost not there, if he is that talented then Eyimba would have been a great place for him to grow from. |

universalbets: @Justwise Your opinion here may as well suffice for the male team. While lesbianism may seem passable compared to those that are gay. You cannot ignore the law banning both.
Professionally they are expected to abstain from intercourse while in camp. Allowing it may lead to indulgence and likely loss of stamina prior to games and others who are straight feeling cheated. To start with..Nigeria got no law banning lesbianism and when they finally get one and want to carry out the ban then they will do it outside FIFA competitions because FIFA rule against sexual discrimination has being in place for years and Nigeria signed and agreed to abide by it |
