lamosy: @favouredgal

My Immigration consultant in London said 4 to 6 weeks, for what I've read on this thread it sometimes take up to 8 weeks. Yours will never get to that extent in Jesus name. Thank God you're waiting for your visa. As for your husband you'll meet in good condition by the special grace of God. My case is same as yours. I miss my husband badly I've got no choice but to wait for Gods intervention. I was refused mid October on the ground of not providing evidence of contact since my husband left for the UK. Put in my appeal 1st of November with relevant documents e.g emails and western union. As you can see I'm on the waiting list. My right of appeal states that my case can be reviewed without going for hearing. My Lawyer sent the appeal to the Tribunal who will then send it to the Embassy for review and see how it goes. I pray fervently for God to see me through. Please gentlemen and ladies kindly furnish me with good advice on how long it will take them to review it and to call me to pick up my visa. Vicjustise, justwise, omo_tier1 you guys are fab I must confess including some ladies who render good advice. Please I want you all to advice me on the time frame and if you believe I'll be granted. My visa type is settlement. Cheers Mate. Looking forward to hearing from you guys.
Re-applying would have being quicker for you, appeal takes time, since you put in your appeal this November, the hearing date will be sometimes Jan, if you won the case it will take another one month at least for you to get the visa

mmpc: hi, just want to ask: i booked a flight and called directly cathay pacific.. i used my debit card upon booking, is it true that they will still check the debit card? what for? i already paid for it.. i was just wondering why! what if they will say the payment didn't appear here. You know what i did, i prepared a statement from the bank where the payment has been deducted there. I just want to be sure, because i read some instances that even they paid the ticket already they encountered problems in the airline. They paid cash on the spot. So horrible!!! I'm just wondering as well, my itinerary has 9 pages, is it most likely like this? need an idea please... thanks!!!
You paid for the flight with your debit card?

mmpc: hi again justwise just want to ask where will i put my gadgets, hand carry or hold luggage? i also have a christmas balls with me is it a good idea to just bring it with me and hold it cause im sure it will be smash in my hold luggage, im planning to put it in a paper bag...

They will not confiscate any of your item just because you overstayed, you leaving on your own without them paying for your ticket is even good thing for them.
Put your gadgets in your hand luggage and hold the receipts (very important)it may get nicked in Nigeria airport if you put it in your check-in luggage.

mmpc: Hi, I overstayed in the uk for almost 4 years.. I'm planning to go home in my own expense. My question is i have loads of gadgets iPhone, iPad, Nokia phone and a laptop.. Would it be a problem upon entering the security control. I'm worried they will confiscate it knowing that i am an over stayer. What is the best thing to do? Any idea or help is highly appreciated. Thank you very much.

Tinyemeka: These mods must really be using something psychedelic and hallucinatory. Probably a depressant.

US embassy? Is it a kind of gym? Ugba joint? Garri factory? Where it it?

I only know of 'Amala Embassy' at Ogui junction. sad

I got embarrassed the day they brought only 2 wraps of the stuff instead of the usual 4 wraps I normally request. angry

I guess this thread is not for you if you haven't been to US embassy before, there is no need to start ranting.

Morayo747: No I'm just trying to prick his conscience here to actually reflect and see if he's ever seen anyone married to a British citizen legitimately that didn't get their stay because they were illegal immigrants initially (post may May 2011). I know I don't know any on the contrary I know several people that exploited this new laws. . I'm in no way telling anyone to do anything I'm just saying this is a genuine legal loophole and everyone has a right to get married and live with their partners
Like Siena pointed out, if i mentioned any will you believe me? Its easy to say you know somebody who got a stay as an illegal immigrant and all that but who do we ask or how do we verify that?
Travel › Re: Help! My Sister And Her Husband Want To Remain As Illegal Immigrants In Uk by justwise(mod): 9:21am On Nov 18, 2012
Morayo747: Ok I give up on this matter. Anyone that's in this situation PM me. I have no interest whatsoever ever in arguing with people who have no idea what they are talking about.%100 you cannot be deported if you have a British wife that's standing by you except for a SERIOUS criminal offence. How are is this to understand??
I think you are referring to yourself there, marrying to a British citizen with visiting visa will hardly hardly get you a stay, you will always be advised to return to your home country to get married to that person then re-enter with spouse visa, this is no secret, its a known fact.

Marriage certificate alone does not get you a stay, when you apply for a stay with that marriage certificate your status before you got married will come into the picture.

Talk2naija: Please, if there is some kind of Discplinary comittee here on Nairaland or people who can question Moderators, please asked Justwise to prove that I am guilty of what he accused me of, he's is reistraining my right, there's one thing I always heard about in Nigeria that there's Freedom of speech, and even please tell him not to Condemn any leader or policitian because I will surely attack him..

Thanks
Obviously your definition of freedom of speech starts and ends with your freedom to derail threads and insult Mods, you and your friend turn threads to chatroom and expect me to look away.

jennykadry: I guess they did not carry out their research properly before leaving Nigeria.

What if he seeks asylum?

There is no strong ground for asylum as a Nigerian, Nigeria is not Somalia, Iraq or Afghanistan, they will struggle to come up with valid reasons why they should be grounded an asylum.

jennykadry: Just wise

If he marries someone else for his papers, what are his chances?
If he marries legally then he got no problem, but since he came in as a married man he needs to divorce his wife first before marrying another person and in order to avoid length immigration battle, if he is holding a visitor's visa he needs to go back to Nigeria to marry that person then re-enter with spouse visa.

Initially you get the paper after 2yrs of marriage but now its 5yrs.

akin707: To add to what morayo747 said, it is easy to get married here now, irrespective of your status, l just did mine last week.
And to add to that too....its not about getting married, its about getting a stay with that marriage certificate, you lot seem to be hammering on marriage, marriage and marriage, yes anybody can get married but not everybody with marriage certificate gets a stay.

dannywest: Please is this after travelling or before, and how do I keep records of phone calls? I want to apply for a visa later this month against mid-january & I'm in the same shoes as the OP.
Thanks.
Especially after traveling when phone calls and emails becomes the means of communication between you two, if your are using contract line then the phone company will send you letter which contains a list of calls you have made for the month.
