DoTheNeedful: I have never seen or heard about anyone threatened with death for abandoning Christianity. A lot of reorientation need to by done within Islam! Many things about the religion are so much incompatible with 21st century.
The fact is that many laws and beliefs in Islam were shaped by the civilization of the time of Muhammed. A lot of socio-cultural revolution and civilization has taken place since that time; this is a major reason why many people are having problems with the religion today.
NB: Before any hypocritical Muslim quote me, please show me what the Koran and the Hadiths say about apostasy . The continuous practice of a religion should never be by force even when you are born into such religion. I am more concerned about the Christians like maupe Ogun that equates christianity to blood sucking islam |
Politics › Re: Nobody Can Stop Northerners From Contesting Presidency In 2023 - Tony Momoh by kapelvej: 10:35am On Apr 11, 2019 |
nairavsdollars: By Temidayo Akinsuyi
Prince Tony Momoh, a former Minister of Information and one of the national leaders of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in this interview with TEMIDAYO AKINSUYI , speaks on the controversy surrounding power shift, former CJN Walter Onnoghen’s resignation and other issues. Excerpts:
The general impression that the presidency will come to the South after the completion of President Muhammadu Buhari’s tenure in 2023, but right now some Northern political leaders are threatening to field candidates, saying the South should forget . What is your take on this?
Politics is a talkshop. The armoury in the dictionary of politics is word. The only thing is that communication has rules. For instance, communication in a love letter should be different from communication that is published in national newspapers. I believe that there should be time for everything. We just finished a general election about a month ago and people are already talking about irrelevant things when we ought to be dealing with more pressing issues that will grow the country. Having said that, power is not served a la carte; you struggle to acquire power. There is no way anybody can beg anybody or any region to come and take power. So, it is a struggle and any part of the country can struggle to occupy any position in the country. Wining election is decided by votes, so if some people sit down and think people will say ‘come and take these positions in 2023, then they don’t know what democracy is all about. Politics is like a game of chess and those who are good players win. When PDP zoned positions, a lot of people from the North and South contested. I remembered when the PDP presidency ticket was zoned to the South, some people in the North contested.
Even look at the APC now which has zoned the position of Senate President to the North- East but some people from other regions are protesting, saying that they have a right to occupy the position. So, if anybody thinks that the Presidency will be zoned to the South in 2023 and then the North will just sit down and watch, then they have a lot of shocks coming for them. We can still find another person from another zone who may contest under another political party and win. So, nobody should think that they can just sit down at home, not work hard and then power will just be handed over to them like that.
But don’t you think the rotational policy between the North and South should be strictly adhered to so that there won’t be any political crisis?
Although that is what people think, it will not be that smooth. It has never been that smooth. When they said the PDP presidential ticket should come to the South- West to pacify the people in the region, did other people from other regions not contest? We had people like the late Alex Ekwueme from the South- East and the late Abubakar Rimi from the North who contested against Olusegun Obasanjo. I believe in 2023, a lot of people will come out to contest for Presidency and nobody will stop them. So, people must work hard to get power and the prayer for winning election is answered by votes; the volume of votes you can produce.
Now that he has resigned, should former CJN, Walter Onnoghen be prosecuted?
Prosecution is a political decision. I have said it before that all Onnoghen would have done to save everybody the embarrassment of being suspended by stepping down. Now that he has resigned, what happens next is a political decision.
Are you saying the Federal Government can decide whether to prosecute him or not?
It depends on what the issues are. What are the issues? Did he plead guilty to misconduct? The Attorney-General is very powerful. He can withdraw a case at any time, he can take over a case at any time and he can institute a case at any time. The power to prosecute is there and that is why I said prosecution in any matter of this nature is a political decision.
Given the proliferation of political parties in the country as witnessed in the just concluded elections, some Nigerians are suggesting a return to the two-party system like we had in the 1993 elections. Are you r perspective on this?
What happened with the SDP and NRC during the time of IBB was an attempt to reduce the proliferation of parties in our political life and you know that a committee was set up and they had all the entries grouped into ‘a little to the left’ and ‘a little to the right’. So, we had the SDP and the NRC, and when we began preparations for a return to civil rule in 1999, a lot of people said, no, that the SDP and NRC were government parastatals. But the fact is, what people didn’t know is that as at the time Abacha dissolved those parties, they had taken over the ownership of their party because after the annulment of the June 12 elections, meetings were being called and SDP that produced Abiola was deciding to or not to attend meetings because they were already in charge of their party. So, if we had allowed the NRC and SDP to grow with all the structures already in place at the local, state and national levels, they would have grown into institutions that would have stabilised our democracy.
But what happened after 1999 was that we had a situation whereby the power of INEC to register was being questioned, and Obasanjo messed up the whole system by asking INEC to register as many parties as possible, most of which were initiated by the PDP. So, we had this situation where we had so many political parties, and as at the last count, we had 91 in the system, and it is not as if they are tired. More parties would spring up because we must look at what we have made of politics in Nigeria and you are a political association until you are registered as a political party. You cannot do business as a political association.
You can only do business when you are registered as a political party. We have made politics a business and political parties are the vehicles for those businesses while Nigerians are ruthless businessmen. In business, there must be a gain. We are not going to have a reduction in parties; we are going to have more. So, we have a challenge which is to ensure that politics becomes what it should be. In other realms, it is service, not a business. As long as we continue to see it as a business in Nigeria, we are going to handle political parties as we handle selling pepper or sugar or even 419.
We must decongest the political space. If we don’t do that, we will continue to have the outcome of what we have now and even vote buying will increase because again if the National Assembly is, and then you decongest the political space, reduce the power at the centre, move them to the States, then cancel local government elections and reduce it to part-time if you must have them, you will see overnight how we will cure these ills because these are businesses. Nigerians are ruthless businessmen and women, and it will continue to be business as usual. https://www.independent.ng/moving-presidency-to-south-in-2023-wont-be-smooth-tony-momoh-2/ Southern fool |

Pkingman: HELP! My Wife Is Abnormal
Hello house, Pls I need mature advice on this issue. I had to create this account as to remain anonymous.
I've been married for 2 years plus, with a son and expecting another. The problem is that my wife is not proud of me, not proud to be associated with me and does not show excitement concerning me or gifts that I buy for her.. She is just too plain, too emotionless.
It started from our dating days.. We dated for a year plus.. She never wanted people to know about us. Always hiding me. As if the relationship was a secret. She never asked me for a pin.. I was happy she wasn't the demanding type. When I proposed to her, I expected her to go over the moon, show excitement and flood social media with pictures.. But no way. She was just mute and calm about it. She didn't even accept the idea of pre-wedding pictures when I suggested it.. Said it wasn't compulsory, she doesn't have time and energy for that..Few weeks later, she uploaded very beautiful studio pictures of herself alone in nice clothing, shoes, accessories on her facebook timeline without any caption about getting married or love.. Nothing about me at all.
Wedding came... She opted for a small quiet wedding.. Although we could afford a big wedding.. I was surprised.. So unfeminine... Women always prefer loud crowded weddings to show off.. She was supposed to be extremely excited as she was getting married esp at over 30 years when a woman is considered by societal standards to be hopeless and too old for marriage but no! She went about the whole festivities like nothing special was happening to her.
After the wedding, she didn't upload our wedding pictures on social media like normal women do. I then uploaded few pictures of us and tagged her. She immediately untagged herself and told me I could post whatever I wanted without necessarily tagging her. Months after, she uploaded 2 pictures of herself alone in wedding gown and traditional attire.. None of mine till date. She doesn't have any picture of me or us together on her facebook profile, she doesn't upload any picture of me or us on her whatsapp. It's always her picture alone or with our baby or her parents and siblings. She hardly even takes pictures with me at social functions. She prefers personal pictures. Sometimes, she will even crop me out of her pictures and post only herself. She just keeps going on as if I don't exist. When I ask her why, she says she doesn't need to display me online to know she is married to me. On my birthday, she didn't wish me HBD on any social media platform but she uploaded pictures of her 2 male colleagues at work(she is a medical doctor, a surgeon in training and planning to relocate abroad soon) and wished them HBD, wrote nice things about them. Back home, all I got was a small get together, cake, drinks and gifts but I would have preferred to be acknowledged online as well. On her birthday, I dare not show her off or say anything on social media, she won't find it funny.. She prefers everything we do is private. The part that breaks my heart is her attitude towards gifts.. When I met her, she was working, earning big, lived alone and had a car.I was happy she wasn't demanding or greedy... But I noticed if I buy her something, she just coldly thanks me and that's all. I am an Architect, working in a firm and also into private jobs.. I recently completed a project and was paid in millions.. I thought I should surprise my wife so I bought her a new car(an SUV).... She acted so plain.. Just said thank you and that was all.. Instead of displaying it all over social media platforms, write lovey dovey epistles about me and celebrate me like other women do.
By all standards, I am handsome, tall, dark, educated, nice guy, well to do, so why is she not proud to show me off? Why does she not want me to show her off?
In all fairness, she has been a very nice partner so far but why this cold abnormal attitude ?This is not how women ought to behave. I am getting tired already,i have discussed this with her but she doesn't wish to change. What could be wrong with her? You are abnormal, not your wife |

adeleks: Don’t watch porn. Porn is for people who can’t attract mates. Masturbation kills your sex drive and prevents you from taking the initiative to meet a real woman.
Hit the gym. There are no ‘ugly’ men. Only unfit men. Hit that gym if you want that ripped body.
Pick one thing you want to do and do it well. Success comes from the perfection of a skill. Be it coding, business, finance, etc, perfection in a skill will take you miles.
Don’t be thirsty. Men who wake up every day desperately thinking of sex and trying to get laid will NEVER score. Women can smell thirst from a mile away. The men who score the most, the so called ‘Chads’, are the ones who never think about sex; sex comes to them automatically because they are dedicated to improving themselves every day, and women are attracted to it. briliant
As a follow up from 4, don’t live life thinking of the fruits. Think of the labour, do the labour, and the fruits will come.
Don’t EVER be ‘the nice guy’. Don’t be the one who subserviently serves others, scrapes and bows his head, and then gets angry and entitled when he doesn’t get what he wanted.
Be brave. Don’t join online communities/forums that consist of people who CAN’T get something, and who discuss how/why they can’t get it. All they do is blame other people, genetics, or ‘the system’ for not getting it. They then use those things as reasons to conclude that you will never be able to get those things, and that it will be futile to try, as you are doomed to fail. These communities thrive by getting other regular people down and making them join. Essentially, they are comprised of bitter people who want to drag other people down to their level of self pity/hate. Don’t join them.
Don’t worry about what other people think/say about you. “Toxic masculinity” does not exist. Don’t listen to the people who say it does. It’s NOT a thing.
And one last thing: don’t cry when wronged. Don’t give your enemies the satisfaction of crying. Don’t give those who have wronged you the victory of making you cry. Don’t let them do that to you, to your soul. Not crying is essentially like emotional body armour; there is nothing that someone can say to you that can hurt you. Share your thoughts.

Chuks9000: From a very young age, I have always hated politics because of controversies. This is what I meant: Nothing should be left to any public officer's discretion. ie, where the laws did not give specifics, I surrender to the officer's discretion. Eg, how many ministers should be from the NE, NW, NC, SW, SS, SE? It's not enough to just ask for fair representation. It should be defined to eliminate confusion. For those laws/policies that are defined but biased, eg, the tetiary admission requirement by catchment areas, what are our representatives doing about them? Do we have a structure to monitor the activities of our rep? Can we support them if they are on course or recall them if they are clueless? But the number one awareness is to know what each office does, such that we can channel our efforts properly. This is where we as a people are missing it. See how well reasoned your arguments are. It shows you have a sound mind. But I can assure that over 5million of those people that voted for Buhari, did so just because he is a northerner and a Moslem. NO ECONOMIC ANALYSIS CAN EXTENUATE BIGOTRY. it is not a question of choosing people from only one part of the country to get the job done, every one must be carried along |

Chuks9000: What you said makes brain. I'm not bothered if the entire ministers are his village members. As long as he can live up to expectations. This is my hope. That the populace arrive at a level of true awareness like the exam imbalance for instance. Thereafter, react positively to such awareness. Meaning, if those representing you and me do not align to fixing the problems of the society, we don't have to wait 4 years to look for those who will! My brother, you are missing the point, you are deceiving yourself if you think that I am not in support of the best man not getting the JOb. What I am saying is that that best man is in every tribe in Nigeria, and they should be sought after. I am not ready to fall again into this argument of it doesn't matter, the best person should do the job irrespective of where he comes from. But there are qualified people all over the country, so qualified people should be sought after and balance our ethnic diversities. This is deeper than what you think. How come before national festivals like independence, there is a national Christian thanksgiving and Moslem jumaait service, why can't we say let's have one, it doesn't matter, God is God. When it is convenient, they say cometence matters, when it is not they sing another song. |

This is how the problem of complacency starts. This forum is not a propaganda forum to launder the image of the country. You can create your own forum for that purpose. when a president appoints 17 out 19 security chiefs from one part of the nation when a presidents call one set of people 5 percent. when I am from the part of a nation that produces 80 percent of the wealth of a nation and yet you call me minority tribe, when I am from a nation where I have to score 70 percent and some other people have to score only 10 percent on the same examination. You expect me to keep quiet. |
