CR7 130 goals on 170 games
Messi 115 goals in 143 games This is valid. But the comparison is about when they were both in spain. UCL Ronaldo Games 101 Goals 105 Assists. 27 Messi Games. 92 Goals. 83 Assists. 20 |

benji93: Yes i know, but it's not a reasonable one. I mean there are a lot of variables you are not considering. You are assuming if Messi was playing for Athletico, he would be the only thing that changes. Maybe Simeone won't be their coach. Maybe we never see Godin in an Athletico shirt. Maybe we never see Griezmann in an Athletico shirt and so on and so forth. You see you need to consider as many variables as possible. And if you do, the thought of it would tire you. The instance was not meant for Messi alone. I included Ronaldo. Bottom line is, Messi benefited a lot for joining Barcelona the same way Ronaldo benefited from joining Manchester united. Saying Messi is better because he's two years younger than Ronaldo while not factoring in the the age they started first team football and the clubs they started with is not a valid line of argument. A Messi minion might enjoy that but it's not valid. |

patrickmuf: The point is that Sporting was and remains one of the biggest club in Portugal so, whatever advantage you think Messi benefited from playing in Barcelona, Ronaldo also had same advantage... For argument purposes, do you believe (or agree) that Messi (or Ronaldo) would win a Ballon d'or if he played for Athletico Madrid for 4 years at his prime? |

randomperson: Is it Messi's fault that Ronaldo was not good enough to make it onto a big team at 13 years old.
That's how you know who's the best, one has been making waves since 13, the other had to wait for a few more years Let me just pretend I didn't read this. |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by Karleb(m): 8:18am On Nov 18, 2020 |
patrickmuf: Sporting are also a big club in Portugal so, your point that Barcelona is a big team doesn't quite cut it...Need I remind you that it is more difficult for a youngster to break through a star studded team. Not when you are talented. Messi and Ronaldo broke into Manchester United and Barcelona easily. How big a club is Lisbon compared to United or Barcelona as at then? Just imagine Ronaldo starting his career at Barcelona at 16 and Messi starting his career at Lisbon at 17. |

patrickmuf: Ronaldo arrived Spain at the peak of his powers whilst Messi started his career in Spain...
Next time you want to hype his scoring record in Spain, do well to start comparing from the time he joined La Liga...
If he had started his career in Madrid, do you think his record would have looked as good as it is? Considering at a younger age, he wasn't scoring much...
You are always quick to counter without trying to understand someone else's point of view... Oga, you are the one feeling attacked here. I'm not for or against anyone in this argument but let us argue without sentiments. Ronaldo started his career at Lisbon at age 17. Libson is an average team compared to Barcelona and Manchester. Messi started his career at Barcelona. Joined first team at age 16. When he did, he was playing with the one of the best team of that time. Ronaldo didn't join Manchester until he was 18. I'm not hyping anyone. The records are there for all to see. |

patrickmuf: For the time spent in Spain, Messi outscored him.
Just to point it out, Ronaldo is 2 years older than Messi so, for Messi to be a couple of goals off his overall career total whilst having more assist shows you how great a player he is... Ronaldo started his career in sporting libson. Messi started his career in Barcelona. Remember that the next time you bring up this 2 years older argument. |

afrodoc2: It is mainly because of that. Those who never watched Pele but grew up in the 80s usually say Maradona is the greatest. Those who watched neither but grew up in the 2000s and 2010s say Messi (or CR7) is the greatest.
I didn't watch Pele but after much research and consulting Otem i would say Pele is the greatest because he dominated at all levels both with individual honors and team titles.
There is a difference between greatest and best. Messi with his serial failures at international level and impotence in crucial international finals can't be greater than Pele. He might be better skilled but he is definitely not greater than a serial winner like O Rei. It's good to see an unbiased analysis here. Let me add that people who love Messi think he is best. People who love Ronaldo think he is the best. I think the GOAT argument is good for the media, no wonder they keep fanning its ember. |

etoluw: i don't see anything wrong with using underscore to separate names. (i agree using namespace is easier or using classes)
as for the array() issue pls educate me what should we use instead. When you have a long name, it's becomes annoying to read. Besides, the standard now is "PascalCase" for class, interface, traits name and "camelCase" for variables and method name. Constants are to be capitalized. aVeryLongVariable is easier to type and read than a_very_long_variable. WordPressQuery is easier to read, type and understand than either WPQuery or WP_Query. Checkout www.php-fig.org for more on PHP coding standards. As for arrays, square bracket "[]" is the new standard. One of it's advantages is that it's becomes easier to read when you are dealing with multi-dimensional arrays. Just try multi-dimensional array with "array()" and "[]" and see the difference. |

patrickmuf: This is talk isn't about Martial who is obviously my favorite, it's about Messi in comparison with other greats for I am of the opinion that the only other greats that can hold their own against him includes; Ronaldo De Lima, Pele and Maradona and I cited their football intelligence, dribbling abilities, goal scoring (bar Maradona) and ability to create chances almost at will...
You can't dismiss Messi on the basis of the fact that he played all of his football at Barcelona when we all celebrate the likes of Totti, Gerard, Terry, Scholes, Giggs, Xavi etc...It is even funny when you consider the fact that whilst in LA Liga, the likes of Aguero, Silva, Cesc and others before them didn't do a quarter of what Messi did... Your opinion is your opinion, I have nothing against that. I am only concerned about your previous post I quoted. You accused others of being sentimental then in the second paragraph, you made a sentimental comment. The only way to know if Messi will perform outside La Liga is for Messi to leave LA Liga. I sincerely don't blame whoever thinks Messi will not perform outside La Liga because he has been abysmal in the national team. That might be a strong determinant. |

If you watch football and understand the dynamics of the game yet you think Messi isn't the G. O. A. T. or is in contention to be referred to as the greatest that ever did it, then you need to see Unlimited22... You accuse others of what you also do. |

fnep2smooth: Tell that to the indians who are breaking boundaries in WordPress, Laravel and any PHP Framework, Africa love to bad mouth something but can't build or invent anything. What is the need of creating something when you are not making money from it. WordPress keep upgrading everyday, Big tech company are recruiting PHP developer everyday, go to Stackoverflow job section and see countries like Japan, Germany etc looking for WordPress theme/ plugin developer. Are you more wiser than them, do you analysis future than them. How can a language that have the biggest community die like that, now you can use reactjs with WordPress.
Before I go you said it's not about the money, lol.... So as you de so if you invent something and it fetches you 1billion dollars and it stop or shut down. Will you ever go poor in your life again. Bro it's all about the money if you like free job. Good work with some open source projects Where did that user bad mouthed PHP? Indians are not breaking boundaries with WordPress, they are the ones building WordPress sites for $5. You call that boundary breaking? The discussion is about WordPress. WordPress works but it's badly written. That's a fact, quit being emotional about it. I personally wants WordPress to be written properly but it seems WordPress maintainers don't care about it. If care is not taken, WordPress might eventually go the way of Jquery. Lastly, leave Africans out of your comments. The creator of PHP once said "All php frameworks suck" . |
