nograv: Sorry Oga, Idi Amin expelled groups that weren't loyal to Uganda. He also gave assets formerly in hands of foreigners to Native Ugandans. Power may have ultimately corrupted him, but he did some good by his people.
While Abacha by contrast died in the hands Asian prostitutes. He gave nothing to his people, ran economy into the ground and stole until there was nothing left.
Learn your history before making false equivalence. The world knows of Amin because he did right by his people and that upset others. No one except for Nigerians gives a damn about Abacha... Hushhh. Please stop the noise. The little you know isn't enough to make u sound this loud. Go and read the book 90 minutes at Entebbe. ogbonti: May God bless you 1000 times per second --- some infants here think someone will have to wear a military uniform for it to be called a coup - what Mahmoud Yakubu did is same as what Brig Sani Abacha did in 1983 and what Major Gen. Joshua Dogonyaro did in 1985
A coup announcement using INEC and Election as alibi - nonsense and ingredients
when we protest - they yelled back - go to court ---- please tell Bazoum and others to go to the military tribunal - thank you!
Tinubu interfering in this Niger situation is like pot calling kettle black - is the widespread jubilation in Niger greeting the coup same
as the grave yard silence greeting the announcement of Tinubu as winner of the 2023 presidential election by INEC ?
Think what you just read .... Wrong! I'm not in support of Tinubu, but that won't make me support another wrong thing in order to get back at him. Its insane to do so. One of the clear signs that Divinity is in Peter Obi's favor is this; Nigerians now have a taste of Tinubu to know he's void of quality substance and loaded with trash, such that he can't speak against undemocratic propositions without being a ridicule of himself and a mockery to the Nigerian State. These are realities that can shape the Judiciary's decision. |

NwekeUG: Niger Coup - Junta Warns ECOWAS Leaders Meeting In Abuja Against Sending Military Troops Into Niger
ECOWAS has issued a one-week ultimatum to the coup plotters in the Niger Republic to release President Bazoum.
https://www.lindaikejisblog.com/2023/7/niger-coup-junta-warns-ecowas-leaders-meeting-in-abuja-against-sending-military-troops-into-niger-2.html "ECOWAS and the international community would do everything to defend democracy and ensure democratic governance continues to take firm root in the region," president of Nigeria and ECOWAS chairman, Bola Tinubu, said in a statement on Friday.
Same African leaders who showed up for Putin's summit. Same Putin who praised the Junta in Niger Republic. ...and you start asking yourself, does Africa really know what she needs? ECOWAS States as well as some other African States are boycotting Niger Republic currently just like EU is doing to Russia. Even Tinubu, who handcuffed democracy during the presidential election wants a Democratic West Africa. How do you keep a robust democracy while having a strong tie with Putin's current Russia? Africans who "know their history" like SA's confused president will tell you Russia means well for the African continent. Una no go ever learn. |

ManirBK: https://saharareporters.com/2023/07/28/moscow-has-forgiven-23billion-debts-owed-african-countries-russian-president-putin LGBT supportive or not, Putin knows how to appeal to their emotions to get what he wants. But most Africans will never learn. Closer ties with Russia will have Putin back up Tinubu if the Court nullifies his presidential status tomorrow. Look at Syria and Assad. Now look at Mali and recently Niger Republic. Russia praising the coup just because the West renounced the current Head of State. Endsars had a voice because of certain benefits from liberal ideologies that the Nigerian system adopted. A Nigeria with a dominant Russia as an ally, will further undermine democratic privileges from media to judicial orders, encouraging suppressive leadership. Expect Amnesty international and the likes to be kept at bay. We already see Tinubu threatening the Judiciary. Imagine what an open embrace to Putin would do further. Africans always complain about their leaders. Now I see the same Africans rejoicing as their leaders strengthen ties with other leaders who also suppress their people's voices to promote their individual interests. There's a saying that if you're a woman who gets beaten frequently by her hubby, live near a market square, not in an estate. So when you raise your voice to cry out, the whole community can hear and come to your aid. Africans who claim to know their history, sadly, happen to be the most confused about what their current realities and problems are. They never learn. |

CalmTravels: Things I found out in Sweden.
• I paid commission to exchange my US dollars to Swedish krone! Foreign currency is actually not craved for here like we do in Africa
• Everyone is helpful, nice & kind. Can give up their food for you. Their social welfare system is the best in the world.
• It's a totally cashless economy here. Yes, you actually dont need a paper money. Everything is digitalized including buying anything!
• Everyone works. The bills are crazy so any krones is needed. The Swedes are naturally, big, brawny, smart and strong. So working hard is never a problem.
* Work resumes by 10 am here due to weather changes. I mean formal jobs, not non skilled jobs.
• During summer, the sun doesn't go down. Meaning, there's no night. You can get sick due to body adopting these time changes. My first night i Stockholm, i slept around 1am without knowing its that late.
• Its really stable here. Count your self lucky like me if you have access to Sweden, it takes a lot to get their papers! Their paper can straighten out some shits in your life. I am a testimony.
• Stockholm is an idea City to raise up a child as everything is cool, lovely and good! World class primary & secondary schooling FREE.
• Crime rate is really low. Yahoo, fraud or other social vices can not work here. You will be caught easily as there are traits to everything you do
• Swedes are normally thieves, they are the original Vikings or sea faring thieves of past, so to curb that natural trait to steal, the government has done a lot to ensure everything can be tranced, this gave rise to a cashless, contactless economy that has proved to very efficient! In order words, it has made the Swedes to be law abiding because off what use is it to steal when you know you will be caught? Well, their prison is better than most average homes in Africa!
• Transportation is relatively fixed. For 3.9$ (39SEK) you can get a ride on the bullet train to anywhere in Stockholm for 75minutes. No other fee applies.
• Beside Rent, food, anyone can survive in Stockholm without much of a deal! With a Salary of $3000 per month, you'd live like a king! Especially if you work remotely!
• You don't really need public transport/a car to move around city, except you are hopping from one island to another. A scooter or bicycle would be more helpful!
• Swedes are Innovative, they have customized bicycles to various roles in the house, or work.
• I prefer living in Stockholm than anywhere in USA or Canada.
• The gap between rich and poor is low compared to France or UK. Here the richest man might be that fellow riding an electric scooter, or drinking low beer with you in the pub.
• Most houses in Stockholm do not have physical keys... They use codes type into the door to open. So if you have no business there, you gat no reason
• Almost everyone drives a bicycle, or scooter to move from one place to another.
• Sweden is really expensive to live in, but has one of the highest quality of life you can imagine.
• Everyone drink tap water. It's squeaky clean & safe. pH value is almost 7.0 on the dot!
• I met several Nigerians, most of them left Italy to reside here. They're always preferred before other African nationalities.
• Nigerians here, as in Kigali keep the law. Thanks for this. I’ll give it a shot when some dust done settle. Those Scandinavian countries are bea. |
Family › Re: Why Did You Finally Decide Character Over Beauty When Picking Your Wife by Karnice600: 4:19pm On Jul 20, 2023 |
Monman56: I have very high specifications I want from my to be woman and I know its difficult to find. What point did you decide to settle for Character over beauty or did you get the high requirements you wanted.
No insults please Beautiful with good character still dey. The sensible thing to talk about is compatibility. Most guys no wan reason am. You get some good money, next thing you marry a fine girl who blushes at your smile because of your money and the sense of convenience you offer.., but those are temporary. Some few months or years into the marriage money flow drastically reduces. Things start bitting and she bites even harder because you guys were never compatible. Marry a woman you can take a walk in the field with, with just 2 bottles of coke and 2 packs of gala and still have her unwavering attention.., holding both meaningful , nasty and mundane discussions without feeling you’re wasting your time. Look at her physical blemishes and be creative on what your lifestyle becomes next with her. There are “ugly” women with beautiful smiles. There are “beautiful” women with ugly, shady eyes, borne from psychological turmoil. The day you know that beauty is relative and not constant, is the day you fully outgrow your adolescence. There’ll be a time you’ll desire a beautiful family than a beautiful skin. Beauty is perceptual. It comes with other vibrations than light and sight. Don’t marry who you can’t be proud of walking with in public. You just first have to work on your mind and outgrow mixing frivolities with necessities. For me, my wife is a witch. I don chop her juju. Me too be witch doctor. She don chop my concoction. We fit just sidon dey discuss stupid things for hours, lazying around. Time go done go before we remember say we never take real food, if the kids are not around. She too dey gossip. My own na to dey add fuel make the talk continue. She just enjoys talking. DoTheNeedful: If the work of a lawyer was that easy, people would not be studying law for 5 years plus 1 year at law school. You still have problem understanding my previous post. Olanipekun is not deliberating on Guinean citizenship at all. He's telling the court to ignore the so-called evidence all together, because the purported passport was obtained from the internet, not certified, and expired. Even if the passport belonged to Tinubu, it has no probative value in court because it has expired.
I will not engage you in any argument about Tinubu's Guinean citizenship, because his lawyers are not even debating that. This is one of the reasons people pay brilliant lawyers millions (in dollars sometimes ) to defend them. You're not making any sense. The more honorable thing to do is shut the fvck up and move. Not emphasize lameness. Whether by birth or other engagements, whatever clauses define your citizenship status of a state, are never automatically renounced on the expiration of a passport. |

Food › Re: Have You Eaten Any Of These Strange Nigerian Food? by Karnice600: 2:12pm On Jul 12, 2023 |
DyshApp: Jollof Rice! Very popular Nigerian food; almost every Nigerian can testify. Akara, made from black-eyed beans, is called a lot of names according to different tribes. A typical Nigerian should know it too. You may or may have not heard of foods like Onunu, Ojojo, and Epiti (I will stop here for now lest I spoil the fun). Here are some Nigerian foods you may just be learning about.
Onunu This is a very interesting food from Rivers State. Its striking yellow color is enough to make you salivate. Onunu could be compared to our conventional eba, sem,o, or other swallows. The difference is that it is made by diligently mashing cooked, ripe plantain and boiled yam, then finished up with palm oil (adding pepper is optional). Onunu is often eaten with spicy fish pepper soup and would leave you licking your fingers for days.
Kwanya (cow brain stew) Hold up! Don't get irked out yet! This is a wonder not for the faint of heart. Just as regular Nigerian stews are made from fish, meat, turkey, chicken, snails... Kwanya is a delicacy made from cow brains.
Esunsun Mmm, I can taste the aroma just by writing about it. Called Aku by the Igbos, Esunsun by the Yorubas, Chinge by the Hausas, and Huu by the Tivs. The Winged Termite is always very available during the rainy season. A special trap of a single light source, broom, and a bucket of water would fetch you dinner. Seasoned with salt and fried in a dry pan, Esunsun will leave your kitchen bursting with flavor and your mouth wanting more. What is the Winged Termite called in your language?
Ojojo A non-Yoruba person would most definitely mention Amala when asked to list Yoruba foods, but do you know Ojojo? Made by grating water yam, mixing up spices, then forming yam balls with your fingers and throwing them into hot oil, creating an oil splash and (with time) floating hot Ojojo!
Ridi Popular amongst the Hausas, Ridi is a biscuit-like bar made from sesame seed with honey and sugar as a binder. Delicious right? Ridi could be served with Kunu or Zobo.
Ukwa (Breadfruit) Tagged the most expensive food in the Igbo land, Ukwa depending on how prepared, could be eaten as a snack with coconut or as a main food garnished with vegetables, pepper, and lots of fish.
Ove This is the food of the Ebira people. Just like moi-moi, Ove is a pudding, but it is made from a mixture of water, yam, and various spices, wrapped in banana leaves, and then steamed.
Well then... Have you ever eaten any of these meals, how does it taste?

Hardtotrust: I am very very angry right now. I couldn't sleep last night. That is why I'm bringing this here this morning before I do something very bad. A father should be after the growth of his son and not after ruining him.
Please you guys should help me look into this matter. I understand that it was a matter of life and important concern.
I'm seriously struggling in the city to eck a living for myself and do the little I can for my family also. My father was a petty trader who hardly can provide adequate for the family. Some of us who come from a very poor background would understand this better. I mean coming from where absolutely nothing is kept for you. No support from the family and nothing, nothing and nothing. You are the one who die and same you would have to pour yourself water to come back to life. You, you and only you.
I buy fast consuming products and supply to people and make some gains from there. Sometimes I hawk the products. I was able to save up to N150k. Around May this year, I went to the village and bought some rubbers of palm oil and store them to sell around November/December and make gains.
Last week, I got a call that wind pulled off our house roof in the village. Since they are using small torchlight phone, I didn't get to see how serious the situation was. Even though I didn't have money, I sent N15k to help fix it. My father later called me and complained bitterly on why I sent just 15k, that according to the carpenter, that materials and workmanship would cost N65k. In my mind, I was just like, does this man even know how I survive here in the city?
For two nights, they didnt sleep in the house as the wind pulled off the rooof.
On Tuesday, I learnt my younger brother was being operated of Hernia. I know about the hernia but was under plan to raise money for it. And I knew there was no money to settle medical bills for operation. So I was shocked where they got the money to do operation.
As I traveled down yesterday to see them, dear Nairaland friends, all my rubbers of palm oil has been sold and the money spent on fixing the roof and paying for the medical bills for the hernia operation without my notice.
I am not taking this kindly with my father who engineered the whole thing and I want to arrest him to refund my money.
That is my life investment and it took me so much to raise the amount. Due to how things are now. I even wanted to sell two rubbers to invest back as the business is facing challenges now.
What should I do here to recover my money back? If I have another money, I would over look it but that is my life investment of my labour. If your parents and siblings can’t eat your hard earned money, who else would? Your brother had a successful operation because your father utilized his son’s sweat to save another of his sons life and you’re still bitter? If to say that your brother enemy die, (God forbid) na that time for come better for you to sell all the palm oil use fix morgue and burial arrangements ? Let’s say na your enemy been get that hernia, you for fit brag about palm oil for business? Abi you for fit hustle money from hospital bed? Can I describe you as very hardworking and selfish too? Look you can never replace people with things. Family is family. No matter how unhelpful your parents are, don’t earn any of their curses. Try to avoid it by all means. Whatever beef you have with your Dad should be sorted out. Just explain that he ought to have let you know so you can earn his trust and entrust resources to him easily in the future. It’s God that gives power to make wealth bro. No be everybody wey hustle see breakthrough. You only have one family and you’ll have none if they’re gone. For business, you can still start up another if one fails and even have several more., if one succeeds. Just take it easy. Arrest your beef with your dad, not your Dad.., make you no go carry curse join hustle. And lastly, I noticed you’re still interested in getting refunds. Thats bad. Too bad of you. That’s an indirect way of saying you’re in no way responsible for your parents’ shelter or your brother’s wellbeing. Well, it’s up to you. |

ReubenE: This argument of the USA building an alliance of 30 countries to confront Russia is actually a lame argument, of which most of the proponents are not sincere with themselves.
The foremost if not the sole benefit of the USA in the NATO alliance is the "Strategic advantage of Time and Location" per adventure war breaks out between the US and Russia. Being a NATO member gives the US the ground to put some of their defense assets in the member countries. US is to NATO the way Nigeria is to ECOWAS. Nigeria contributes the largest in both funds/equipment and manpower to ECOMOG just like the US do to NATO.
Have you asked yourself what a country like Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania etc offer to the US in an American war against Russia? They offer nothing more than the reasons I stated above. Why do you think Trump wanted to pull the US out of NATO? The US is not under the protection of NATO, rather it is the other NATO countries that are hiding under the United States protection under the umbrella of NATO. Why do you think Russia always mention striking the UK in their rhetoric but not very so when addressing the US? You think Russia is complaining about neighbors joining NATO because Russia does not have the capacity or assets to strike the US directly? Before the point I am trying to make is lost in the pack, let me reiterate again. It is Europe that is hiding under the protection of the USA with the NATO arrangement and not the other way round. USA being a member of NATO increases her Second Strike options and capabilities, and even makes her First Strike capabilities better. The above is the real concern of Russia and not generally because the USA is gathering a bunch of weaklings under NATO to fight Russia on America's behalf.
Lastly because I have to stop. The USA is the single most powerful country in the world by miles and Russia knows that. Russia is a powerful country and the USA respects that too. This is crystal and apt. Very sound and golden. Nice take |

A neighbor breaks into your house with a knife, caught you unawares and left with your loving wife. He comes back after 4 years. Your other neighbors then tell you the person who took your wife is around the hood for your household again. He checks back in eventually with the same weapon and you gladly handed over your two beautiful daughters left because the intruder was so terrifying. That’s common sense to you. Let’s say this same script plays out with another man and he decides to stay back and fight to keep his remnants left, even at the expense of his life, and you describe him as not having common sense? Now I see what you mean by common sense. Please look up the meaning of the word ‘coward’ and revert. Shalom |
