nlfpmod: https://techcrunch.com/2023/06/30/twitter-now-requires-an-account-to-view-tweets/ ...and even when you would have successfully established a business, you'll still require graduates be employed in your establishment. Running a business is more than just a skill. It also has a thing to do with your entire psychology; that means not everyone can fit in that space. In fact a huge number of people can't fit in. If Nigeria were a system with vibrant institutions and effective laws, most businesses in Ladipo, Alaba international, Trade fair...most of them won't even begin, to start with, not to talk of running. Igbos are popular with being successful at running businesses, but most of these business models won't thrive where labour laws and copyright policies are effective, truth be told. What we define as businesses here most times, can't pass litmus tests for start ups outside. If I were you, I'll rather say a child should pick up a skill and grow with it. That's how some businesses begin; with a skill. |

tete7000: So you think university degree is useless maybe because you got one and 'found' it useless. Yours isn't useless not because instead of applying your mind in school, you are busy cramming stuffs. That your advice also came from an empty mind. Not is more rewarding than an having an educated mind, but an educated mind you wont get by cramming but by diligently applying yourself to knowing and there is no way you will have knowledge and won't eventually make a breakthrough. I'm not intending to derail this thread, but to state here that education is broad and not limited to the four walls of any institution. Get that straight. |

GeneralDae: What of education subsidy? Is that also a bandage or at least can you admit Government has benefited you however small? ... however small?
Ol boy, you carry wahala o. If you were a witch, you won't just suffocate your victims, you'll make sure they're buried too. Haba. You just sha want make I admit say we dey benefit from FG. One thing you refuse to understand is this; where the standard of living is pathetically low, like we have now, subsidies become remedies, because 'most' people can't afford the basics. On the other hand if the standard of living is high, subsidies would come off as 'bonuses' , since a significant number of people can afford the basics. Before subsidy removal a good number of Nigerians were still struggling below basic standards with nothing significant to thank the government for. How much more now? On whether its a benefit, depends on one's satisfactory levels with the overall economic conditions. |

SmartPolician: America is a country where laws work! If Biden wants a cheap way to win his re-election bid, he should use his money to pay the student loans. That's if he has anything close to that.
But then, if Americans, who can easily get jobs after college, are unable to repay their student loans, is it in Nigeria where a student cannot get a decent job after 5 years that people can pay their student loans? Yeah. They have working institutions that don't waver. |

GeneralDae: The question is:
You implied Nigerian Government has never given you any benefit whatsoever and in thesame breadth you are crying that they have taken out fuel subsidy.
Isn't that a contradiction? Now understand what I mean. Don't twist it to suit your sentiments. Subsidies were like bandages on a broken arm; an arm marred by ridiculous policies and economics. Now even if the bandage on a broken arm isn't the desired condition for anyone in such bad shape, you can't just take off those bandages when the arm is yet to be healed. That bandage wasn't something to boast about, yet it wasn't something to do without either at such moment. It was remedying a critical situation. Yes it was more of a remedy than a benefit. Removing it hastily rather than strategically is an insensitive move. Its gross incompetence. |

Today some are saying Tinubu should not scrap education subsidy for Tertiary institutions. Wasn't that a benefit?
You can say the benefits are not enough but not that you haven't benefited at all. You are crying about fuel subsidy removal today. Wasn't that a benefit?
How? Benefit bawo? Show me one average Nigerian that is benefiting from subsidy removal currently. You don't even know where the said funds are going. No clarity. You just believe as a believer that the government will favor you and your family. |

DeLaRue: The government should continue to spend more than $5 billion a year to subsid⁶ise an artificial naira value of N460?
And another $9 billion to subsidise petrol.
And also subsidise many other sectors of the economy.
Mostly with borrowed money.
Are you a baby that government must subsidise every aspect of your life.
Are people in Togo, Republic of Benin, Ghana etc not surviving without ruinous subsidies.
You want the country to go bankrupt like Sri Lanka, Argentina, Lebanon etc
If the country goes bankrupt, naira will go to about N2,500 (or more) to a dollar. I guess your subsidy eye will clear then.
Anyway, the naira is not on a complete free float. The current market price is closer to its real value that N460 was. Government will support the naira if it falls too hard.
It will eventually find its natural level, and that level is likely to be under N700 for some time. Bross, abeg answer these 2 questions with the fear of God make thunder no fire you. 1. What have you ever benefited directly, from the Nigerian government as a citizen since you were born? 2. The supposed subsidy funds retrieved after its removal, where are they channelled? |

sharpwriter: Why e no go run, if na you, you go wait bá? However, on a more serious note and from a professional point of view, most of these decisions aren't made by the person in power like Putin.. They are most times made by his security details, agents and advisers. Their first duty is to protect him and guide him to safety, sometimes whether he doesn't like it, but he must be put in safety first. That's how it goes in places of power and authority. How can you relate that with Zelensky who defied all instructions from military experts and advicers to leave Kiev in the outbreak of the war? Who would you say has a stronger personality and willpower between the two? We know Zelensky to have being a comedian and Putin to be an ex KGB don. What you stated is very apt, but now I want you to ask yourself this question; How come an 'insignificant' Wagner, (like some people think, as compared to the entire Russian military), would cause a 'powerful' Putin to flee, when a comedian Zelensky refused to flee, even when he saw the huge threat to his existence,as powerful Russia rolled in Convoy of tanks directly to his capital with a declared intention and mission to capture it.., how come? You may wanna read between the lines. Whatever you deduce, lemme know. |
