I hope you realise i'm entitled to my opinion, & i do have reasons.
That man is a traitor & should be hanged or shot dead! Imagine having the guts to come out publicly to say he voted against his country?
(2) according to me, reducing the 36 states to six regions will only increase corruption drastically!
Today 36 men + 1 president are responsible for most of nigeria, & we cannot monitor them effectively!
What will happen when itz just 6 powerfull men + 1 president? Chaos!
the igbos will break away, Niger deltans will continue to suffer while a few so called chiefs like that bastard, edwin clark & co make deals with oil companies, yorubas will do alright, but i wonder what will happen to the north?
you have a flawed sense of patriotism! abacha, a mass murderer in the same class with Hitler and Stalin; shuld not be supported by any means rather ousted by a revolution.

Be coherent. Present your response to this: "An atheist, to be consistently assured that his belief is accurate, must also claim to be omniscient, for there always exists the possibility of the existence of God outside his knowledge" I await your response.
you have no ground because religion is based entirely on belief, not on facts or consistent to empirical explanation; thus we are not in the same boat because atheist do arrive at their conclusions under the illusion of belief. such beliefs range from paganism to Islam (Christianity inclusive). These beliefs are inconsistent with one another and involve bizarre stories. Bible explanations to phenomena are proven to be wrong, therefore, you cannot claim that my appeal to logic is wrong or that as long it does not grant me an omniscient status, renders me incapable of explaining the phenomena surrounding me.  As long as its a belief, its a characteristic you share with pagans and muslims. they are simply imaginations which just come out of your head.

what was the purpose of adam and eve. since everyting on earth is superficial, culd one's purpose is to be rich? or be the sexiest girl in her village? what purpose if everyone's aim is to reach heaven.

aletheia, what is this? wats the difference btw you and a pagan or a muslim? then wat tough questions of life? its people of your kind CANNOT grapple with death thus spin myths about it; cannot realize that life has no divine purpose to be rich or be the strongest man in your village.

@Kay17
Really? Give me a break. Atheism is the refuge of those who cannot grapple with the tough questions of life. I flirted with atheism when I was about 14 or 15 yrs and even then I realized what an unsustainable proposition it was considering the weight of evidence against it.
You asked Where was God During The Rwandan Genocide? I have given an answer in an earlier post "He was present". Instead of presenting your arguments as to the flaws in that answer, you retreat to the accusation of childhood indoctrination. I believe you are being intellectually dishonest, deliberately muddying the waters of this discourse because you really have no logically sound rebuttal to that answer. Only a dogma to which you are emotionally attached.
Consider this point Mr "Atheist": An atheist, to be consistently assured that his belief is accurate, must also claim to be omniscient, for there always exists the possibility of the existence of God outside his knowledge". Respond to that. It seems all the atheists on this forum have been deviously avoiding this point which I raised earlier.

alethiea n co are mere products of childhood indoctrination. thats why its is impossible for them to produce logically sound arguments proving the existence of their God. other species of this kind are muslims, hindus, pagans. they individually are strongly convicted that their religion is the one and only, poor minds. sad
Islam › Re: Minarets To Go In Switzerland! by Kay17: 4:39pm On Nov 29, 2009
its not about the persecution of muslims, but an effort to maintain a delicate balance of peace in now multiethnic and multireligious switzerland. the european constitutional court banned the public display of the cross. with the nature of islam, this minarets become a seperate community with laws and codes of conduct that contrary to general laws and customs. thus creates unnecessary suspicion.

babapupa:
^^^ Utter rubbish. The writer must think states are federal parastatals or local governments. He/she is in dire need of some crash course on Nigerian system of government and basic social studies.

You are a resident of where you live, work, shit and pay taxes and if not, you're a non resident, meaning you are not entitled to state benefits and you're free to go back to where ever you live, work, shit and pay taxes, they owe you same sets of benefits the Lagos state governments offers it's residents.

I know the state is chartering new and uncharted waters in Nigeria because the federal government and other states have been sleeping and still sleeping, they have no clue per their arrogated obligations and rights as a state/s. To a lot of them, the federal government is still the alpha and omega, the beginning and end of everything.

Fashola is obviously laying the foundation for a sane, credible and prosperous society, the society the federal government don't give a hoot about and have zero or no interest in. Only a stupid and incompetent state government folds it's hands and take cues from useless and inept federal government.

The way I see it and hate or like him, Fashola is the main catalyst for change and meaningful government in Nigeria and states all over the country ought to borrow and use his template.

An for my own good and sanity, I'll ignore most of the dumb and Ignorant talk in the article,
why this blind faith? for God's sake this idiotic govnor has no respect for the constitution, why classify harmless defenceless poor invalids as public nusiance. The constitution clearly states that nigerian citizens are free to move and own property in any state of the federation. thus, why does fashola want to use this id mechanism to restrict and control movement of nigerian citizens. probably his next harebrain scheme is purge the state of all non-indigenes. this move is an unnecessary step backwards.

yes, where was God during the Rwandan genocide?Where was God during September 11 attack in the US?let me come home, where was God during the Nigerian Civil war?Where was God during the Oke-Afa bomb blast mishap in Lagos, and lastly, where was God when his beloved son Jesus hung on the cross of calvary, naked, battered and bleeding? I do not have answers to others, except the last question.

Though Jesus was God's beloved and only begotten son, God allowed him to go through unimaginable pain and anguish. was God wicked (it pleased the Lord to bruise him,Isaiah 53:10)?God's ways are mysterious, his wisdom is unsearchable. He gave up Jesus, made him go through HELL to gain his beloved creation :MAN(you, me,him, she, atheists inclusive!)

Sometimes,( good things happen to bad people and )bad things happen to good people.Does it mean that God is an unrighteous and wicked judge?NO! "the righteous perishes and no one takes it to heart;merciful men are taken away while no one considers that the righteous is taken away from evil (Isaiah 57:1).God is the all-knowing, omniscient God who oversees the affairs of man. sometimes we do not(and can not) understand the reasons for his actions and inactions!)but the fact remains that He is merciful, gracious(ask the atheists!)and good.

God is sovereign, He has veto power and He is unquestionable. He decides who lives and who dies, who rises and who falls;who wins and who loses and sometimes, He just watches as evil takes on good, giving us the opportunity to exercise our freewill either on the side of good or on the side of evil. But at the "end of the day", Good will triumph over Evil.

Its not easy being God, putting up with criticism from fools (Psalm 14:1) without utilizing the rod of correction (even if its just a little supper-knock!)have you read and pondered on Ola Rotimi's the gods are not to blame, you could learn a lesson or two from the play
were is love, prosperity, freedom, heaven, etc; promised if we walk his Way? were is the shepherd to protect the lambs and sheep? didn't he promise all these, then what u talkin about?

That RELIGION makes people's judgement downright unhealthy is not evidence for the non-existence of god. Atheists are in a difficult position. An atheist is one who claims there is no god; a most difficult proposition to defend. An atheist, to be consistently assured that his belief is accurate, must also claim to be omniscient, for there always exists the possibility of the existence of god outside his knowledge. And considering the fact that most people would claim to possess only an infinitely small fraction of all the knowledge in the universe, the odds of god existing outside of one's knowledge are high.
The answer to the question of where god was during the genocide is quite straightforward. He was there or he wasn't there. But like I wrote earlier, the question is simply a straw man set up for the purpose of being knocked down. If you are consistent to your position as an atheist then simply present evidence that god doesn't exist and let it go at that or admit that you are actually agnostic. The question "Where Was God During The Rwanda Genocide" implies;
1. God exists
2. He either aware or unaware of the situation
3. If he was aware, why did he not act to stop it?
a simple question, were is HE? is he hiding? the onus is on you.

Hello all, I'm new to this thread but I 'd like to point out to Tudor and all the "atheists" in the house that instead of asking where god was during the Rwandan Genocide, it would better to present your evidence as to the non-existence of god. To ask where god was:
1. Implies that you "believe" god exists; a contradiction of your avowed atheism. Or
2. The question is a "straw man" which you have set up for the purpose of knocking down with your arguments.
Either way, your cause is better served by presenting your evidence for the non-existence of god.
since you insist God exists and is lovin, caring and concerned. also an omnimax, then why wuld HE turn his back on those helpless victims who whose singular fault was born a tutsi. and was that time to excuse the free will of others?
