Are you a learner? A minister's constituency is the whole nation while that of a rep is two to four lgas.the highest a rep can make in a year is 500 million while the lowest a ministry can get a year is 50 billion minus the salaries and allowances of the minister.the minister is a member of the executive the most powerful arm of government and has dircect accessvto the president
The only issue with minister job is job security. A minister can be sacked at anytime so that is why people see Rep as having more mouth.

But with Buhari, so long as you are loyal, you are safe. This man has been backing him up since CPC so Buhari will support him to the last. After all, if Shittu was left to do one term in spite of everything, it is sure that Buhari rewards loyalty.

I have been saying this since. Government left this guy to grow wings for too long. The guy is in the same category as Maitatsine but they kept treating him with kid gloves. Now he has reached this point and the government as usual is being reactive.

I told another Nairalandet that security services have been aware of this man's activities from the beginning but they didn't crush him and his movement.

It goes to show that the whole screening is hollow. Imagine if he goes for ministry of tourism now, how does his view on floating currency matter for that portfolio?

Eye service is being taken to extreme levels here. They will approve everybody, then back door dealing to share portfolio will determine the most important part: who gets what.
PoliticsRe: How Nigeria May Lose The Next War: Scenario Three by kayroc: 1:19pm On Jul 24, 2019
Oga SLBMS.

You have hit the nail in the head, but I think that in 50 years Nigeria will be broken into more than 2 countries. If Nigeria splits, the East will certainly leave and the Niger Delta will strike out alone out of a desire to preserve the oil revenues.

I honestly think that it is too late. After the Civil War, we had a chance to strike a bold new path that would have made the sort of inter-ethnic strife that is bogging us down impossible but the northern clique that dominates the country shunned it.

The last hope for meaningful reconciliation was in 1993. With the openly northern coup and the support of the north, the idea of power sharing and reconciliation built on a basis of mutual good will was slaughtered.

That the Nigerian Army played a role in this act doomed it. Today, nobody in the country cares about the deaths of Nigeria soldiers fighting Boko Haram.

As you rightly observed, the Army is actively deployed all over the country in a manner that is more like an army of occupation than a national army in peacetime.

The past glory of the Nigerian Army has been thoroughly squandered by the generals and defense establishment. In Rwanda, you can't see the people take the deaths of soldiers the way we take it here. The army is still seen as a respectable institution. Here, they are seen as petty tyrants and the culture of the armed forces does not engender any respect- only a wary fear and dislike.

It is painful for anyone that has a proper historical knowledge of the sheer potential of Nigeria to say it, but we are on a path of irreversible decline. Morocco will enter ECOWAS with full force. Our brother nations in West Africa despise us not for our corruption, but for our squandered potential.

We have lost the only war that really mattered- the war for national dignity.

1. You lied that it was sent to IMN in Nigeria back in 2014 when GEJ attacked IMN, but the article about the arms shipment was published in 2010, 3-4 years before.

2. The weapons were not destined for Nigeria, Nigeria was a transit and shipping route to the Middle East.

Read your own rubbish and stop making up stories with unrelated events.
I said that AFTER the incident with the weapons, GEJ did not go after those that organized the shipment. Then later on he went for the man but not the former military guys that brokered the arms deal.

Please check what I said earlier. It is all there.

How did governments in the past allowed this sect to reach this extent?
This is the main question that Bihari loyalists don't want to ask. Zakzaky went to Iran in the 80s and the intelligence agencies knew. They did not go after him because they felt they could use him.

Maitatsine and his followers were brutally crushed after the chaos they formented in Kaduna and Yola because those ones were not listening to the generals, but this man was left alone.

I have posted some information about this guy's case above. Once you start asking them why Buhari in the 80s did not arrest this Zakzaky, they will start abusing you.

They had agreement with this man but now they have decided that he has to go. That is the simple fact.

I read a 1988 book on religious violence in Nigeria and I was surprised to see the role zakzasy and his MSS group played. Very disturbing. His doctrines gave birth to Boko Haram, refusal of northerners taking immunization, the burning of churches, and a whole lot of teachings.

When I read it, i became convinced Buhari knows what he is doing.
Boko Haram is an extremist Sunni movement. IMN is Shia. They are not friendly ideologies towards each other. In fact, some people trace Boko Haram to the Maitatsine who started the ultraviolet and fundamentalist conversion of the northern peasants.

The book you read talks about how Zakzaky started in the 80s, but does it tell you why that man was not dealt with the way Maitatsine and his successors were dealt with?

Why is it that the intelligence service left him to grow to this stage?

Those weapons were not destined for Hezbollah. The Israeli officials SUGGESTED that they were destined for Hezbollah but remained silent on who in Nigeria was working to take delivery.

People blaming Buhari administration on the way he has handled this El zalzaky issue should kindly read this extract from Wikipedia.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ibrahim_Zakzaky
Ibraheem Zakzaky was born on 5 May 1953 (15 Sha’ban 1372 AH), in Zaria, Kaduna State. He attended the Provincial Arabic School, Zaria (1969-1970), the School for Arabic Studies, Kano from 1971-1976, where he obtained the ‘Grade II’ Certificate, and the Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria (1976-1979), where he earned a first-class bachelor's degree in Economics. The degree was denied to him by the university authorities due to his Islamic activities.[7] During his university days, he was active in student Islamic unionism, where he became the secretary-general of the Muslim Students Society of Nigeria (MSSN) at the Main Campus of the university (1977/78), and later became Vice President (International Affairs) of the National Body of the MSSN in 1979.[8]

Sheikh Zakzaky giving a lecture at ABU's mosque in the 1990s.
The same year, he is said to have become so impressed with the 1979 Iranian Revolution that he wanted one at home. Later, Zakzaky went to Iran, ultimately becoming a Shia cleric. At home, he became the leader of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria and turned it into a vehicle for proselytizing and gaining followers in the 1990s. As a result of his activities, millions have converted to Shia Islam in a country once with hardly any Shia population.[9]
Thank you for this.

Zakzaky was permitted to operate freely because he was part of the ultra-Islamist intellectual youth that the northerners used. Sanusi was also in this group and it is suspected that Muttallab was a part of it.

When he returned from Iran, his movement was not destroyed because he was seen as one of the "allowed" extremists.

anonimi:
What is making you mix things up so badly.
Can you please calm down, sort out your thoughts and say things in a coherent manner?
Thanks.
What I am saying is that this issue with Zakzaky didn't start today. Zakzaky went to Iran in the early 1980s with the full knowledge of military intelligence back then.

When he returned and started gathering converts, he was the subject of numerous security reports. Shagari did nothing to nip his activities in the bud because he was seen as one of them. Back then, the rivalry between Saudi Arabia (Sunni) and Iran (Shia) was not that pronounced, so the Northern Generals did not see him as a threat.

He was allowed to keep gaining converts and gaining grounds in Nigeria even though security reports rightly stated that his activities were incompatible with the long term survival of the Nigerian State if left unchecked.

Around that time Buhari came in and he too was given the same briefing on Zakzaky. Buhari did not stop him, instead he focused on his partial and selective anti-corruption war. Buhari left el-Zakzaky to grow.

When the Maitatsine crisis broke out, the same security agency said that IMN and Zakzaky should be crushed finally, but the Generals did nothing. They left this guy to keep gaining ground.

Obasanjo took over and was advised to go after IMN and Zakzaky. OBJ did not do anything, due to his desire for third term. He wanted to pacify the north by not only permitting Zamfara to introduce Sharia, but by avoiding anything that might antagonize the northerners. This left Zakzaky to keep growing.

The northern security establishment kept ignoring this man until now that he simply cannot be stopped because he has been on ground for too long. He has thousands of followers that are serious about being willing to die on his orders.

GEJ came in, and he too was shown the problem of el-Zakzaky. Back then, in the lead up to 2011 election, northern generals decided that they would use Zakxaky to cause problems for GEJ and that is how they set up that plan to ship him weapons from Iran. The shipment was intercepted, but the generals that organized the transfer were let go after intervention by Northern elders.

The same northerners, in 2015 decided that they would use Zakzaky against Jonathan if he didn't concede the 2015 elections. They had agreed that Zakxaky and his Shia would protest and constitute nuisance after election if GEJ didn't go.

In exchange for this service, Zakzaky was to be given fee reign in Zaria and was even promised political representation in Kaduna by el-Rufai. When the time came to pay up and give the man what they promised, they turned on him and now his followers are protesting.

Zakzaky was left to grow by the northerners for their own reasons. He did not just wake up today. That man should have been dealt with in the 80s but the short sighted northern generals let him keep growing until now they don't know how to get rid of him.

Oh, I forgot, you hypocrites were too busy shouting GEJ till 2015
GEJ went after him AFTER Iranian citizen was caught moving container full of guns to Zaria. The generals in the North that coordinated the movement were left alone after intervention of Northern Elders.

Here is the story: https://www.reuters.com/article/us-nigeria-weapons/weapons-seized-in-nigeria-came-from-iran-shipping-company-idUSTRE69T1YT20101030

GEJ killed that story because he was bloody incompetent and unable to see anything. Diezani and her sister didn't let that one see road. By then, IMN had already turned to problem.

When the Northern Generals went after Maitatsine in Kano, they were supposed to clear IMN and Zakzaky but they didn't because they felt he was not a problem. Back then, majority of his converts were pagan villagers and Christians so they didn't mind him and his activities.

Or do you deny that they should have cleared IMN during Maitatsine?

What is funny is that I am not Igbo. The reality is that Igbo people and other Southerners are being given the short end of the stick.

Buharis policies especially concerning Fulani Herdsmen has been partial. Was it not Northern elders that put pressure until they sent the Army to kill Baba Alakyo in Benue? What did Alakyo do? All he did was to gather his people to expell the Fulani that were destroying thier farms after government refused to help them.

You need to realize that Buhari is partial and has elevated the desires of the Fulani above all others. This can never lead to rational policies.

And what's going to stop or prevent other religious cults and loonies from demanding the same thing from the Nigerian government?

Is yielding to such demands not full recognition of a state within a state and another major seat of power within Nigeria?

Just like the BH and herdsmen, this man gathered strength unchallenged with foreign support under OBJ, Yaradua and GEJ, PMB should also look the other way until they start planting their flags on every street corner in Nigeria.

I know people like you and your kind are always in love with enemies of Nigeria because of your own hatred and shortsighted sentiments against Nigeria as a country, but facing such outfits head-on is better than letting them take over your space and challenged your sovereign authority.
You are missing it. PMB was in charge when IMN first started after Iranian Revolution. He did not stop them. He spent his time chasing Igbos then and left IMN because they were also Muslims.

He should have stopped them but he didn't. OBJ refused to go against them because he was begging North which is why he allowed Sharia.

Buhari has refused to crack down on herdsmen because of sentiment, yet he went after IPOB. He refused to crack down on Boko Haram going so far as to pay them 5 million Euros which they used to recruit, yet it is IMN he is chasing.

The man is not sincere and that I what I am saying. He is engaged in deeper eye service. Nobody forced him to sent El-Rufai to go and meet Zakzaky. But because he was too desperate he allowed it and made the deal.

Now to give them what he agreed he can't do. Aren't Fulani herdsmen making nonsense of the idea of Nigerian sovereignty? Why hasn't he goen after them? Isn't Boko Haram a threat to sovereignty? Why did he pay them 5 million Euros?

Buhari is not concerned with sovereignty. He is a tribal and religious bigot that has decided to use government resources to oppress those ethnic and religious populations he does not like.

This can never lead to peace. IMN should never have been empowered by this same Buhari in the 80s, but due to hatred or Southerners, he focused on his partial and tribalistic anti-corruption war and let IMN grow.

He messed up.
PoliticsRe: El-Zakzaky: Religious Movement Or A Military State Within Nigeria? (Photos, Vide by kayroc: 2:00am On Jul 23, 2019
The North doesn't know what they are doing by going after el-Zakzaky at this point. The northern generals that held sway back in the 80s when this thing started did nothing to crush him because he was one of them back then.

Iran has been giving these guys strong funding and Shiism has always been a religion that produces martyrs and praises martyrdom. Some of the first suicide bombers were Shiites and the Ayatollah once described suicide bombs as thier own nuclear weapons.

IPOB would not face Nigerian State security like this. Not even OPC would face police to this extreme. Niger Delta militants only did hit and run raids on soft targets, but these Shiites are going live to Abuja to show themselves. Have we seen this before? Of course not.

What Buhari doesn't understand is that the Shia have always been suicidally brace fighters. They are fighting in Yemen with just AK 47 and camels against Saudi Air Force and have not given up even though thier children are starving to death. These people are like Hydra. Kill one and that death only rallies more to the war.

Zakzaky and IMN has come to stay. When they warned this same Buhari in the 80s about this same Zakzaky, he didn't do anything- he was too busy jailing Igbos and other Southerners. It was Alex Ekwueme he could see to chase around. Now he is here holding Zakzaky because he knows he has no good options here.

If Zakzaky is released, the number of converts to Shiism will grow because not means government backed down. If they kill him, his Shiites will begin suicide attacks.

Stupid APC politicians. When they worked to give Zakzaky weapons in run-up to 2015 elections they didn't know. I hope you still remember that time that Iranians were bursted trying to move container of weapons to Zakzaky during Jonathan era? This was who they wanted to give it to. Instead of Jonathan to go after those traitorous Generals, he listened to so-called Northern Elders and killed the case. Now see.

Zakzaky is simply asking for what they promised him, which is greater autonomy for his sect and full recognition to operate in Zaria, as well as 2 seats in House of Assembly. It was not too much to give him for the number of people he was willing to sacrifice, but el-Rufai is afraid and ran to Buhari saying he is being blackmailed.

Watch as these Shiites show that they are not afraid tonight and die. For now, they have not started attacking Kaduna House of Assembly because they still want Buhari to release Zakzaky first. El-Rufai that thinks that he can crush Shia from behind Buhari in run up to 2023 doesn't know what he has done.

Let us be watching.

South Korean movie industry is making waves due to strict government support and control. Right now Nollywood is unregulated so they simply produce films to cater to the lowest common denominator in society. That is why we are where we are when it comes to films.

For Yoruba movie industry to get it right, government must support them and take time to set strong standard. Have you noticed that Chinese films don't really glorify witchcraft? Even the stunts they do are claimed to be due to training. This is because the Chinese government does not allow the promotion of superstition so such things can't enter the film.

We need that here.

The way I am looking at it they will drag this case and silence the case over technicality of the 2010 Act. The issue is that Atiku's last hope was south east turn out, south south rigging and sharing votes in South West.

Best case scenario would have been recreation of Jonathan's 2011 map aka Orkar Map, but he was not able to gather the votes from South East and SS due to the last minute card reader changes.

If only he could gather the votes from East and South South he would be president today.
