Events / Re: Cleric, Bride’s Father Disagree On Who Should Declare Marriage Has Taken Place by kazyhm(m): 1:24pm On Sep 15, 2023
The question should be what is the pastor's contribution to the wedding and what will the church contribute to the marriage ?

If you ask me, the question from the pastor is insulting.......and is making fool of the parents....

Let assume the father's answer is NO, what would have been the next step for the pastor ?

And if the both parents of the groom and the bride were dressed in their choice attire, smiling from chin to chin with each other in the venue of the event, what then is the necessity of the question?
Politics / Re: Is Nigeria Truly Under A Spell? By Simon Kolawole by kazyhm(m): 7:57am On Sep 06, 2023
I have been using the yam and pounded yam analysis to explain the stupidity of the Nigeria oil sector since about five years ago to the illiterate educated economy experts that claims government does not have business doing business.

Our economy performance and the excuses tendered by most economists for it is an evidence that something is fundamentally wrong with Nigeria education system.

Another issue is out Radio and television anchors and presenters............ people that have bachelor degree in mass communication, linguistics, etc there job has turned them to expert in almost everything.........I get agitated and irritated listening to some of the opinion of these presenters.....and the shocking aspect is that majority of their fans/listeners gets/picks their fact from listening to them......it's disheartening to say the least.....they mislead the general public too much............one popular news analyst supported the naira redesign with a very childish, myopic and scandalous reason.......

The fact of the Nigeria situation is that.....we always have variety of options but we always listen to the cabals whose interest and businesses need protection.

Another problem is low self esteem.....many Nigerian do not believe they can be different......they don't believe in their own brain, opinions and probable solutions because the results does not look like the foreign ones..........citizens and leaders alike.
We believe our ideas are bad but foreign ideas are excellent.
This doubts limits our thinking capability, deprived us of breakthrough invention from our peculiar challenges. It also make us skeptical about indigenous ideas and innovations.

For example......the subsidy removal announcement was one option while stopping fuel importation to aggressively and deliberately encourage local production is equally a tough option.....

Let say the president announced that henceforth, it is whatever the Nigeria refineries produced we would consume...........this will put pressure on the refineries.......and other citizens will invest in the business......infact, it will get to a point that each fueling station will be refining their own fuel to sell..........just like bakery......each bakery bakes what they sell.

Next time you want to quote me, make sure you come with facts instead of ignorance

Men are more than women in the world

Men are more than women in Nigeria

Now if Men are more than women,
1)
marriageable age of men will be more than that of women, this is basic common
sense,
Note that 2) [quote]marriageable age is different from wanting to get married because statistics says that men are more willing to marry and stay in marriage than women, that's why men do 99.9999% of the proposing than women(again, common sense)
while women mostly initiates divorce and opt out of marriages, an example of this thorough research is China because they are the 2nd highest population with the highest ratio of men to women ( I intentionally did a little research this night on this facts to negate your baseless comment) so digest this basic fact and rest.

There are more boys born at birth in human population and biology, the only area there are more females is in elderly range upward but that range is more or less insignificant because the population is more from say 16 to 55 years old , productive ages.

there are more males in the world, ignorants and religious "dogmacentric"ones should know that..

Female are more that male in population...

Population of Rich male is more than the population of rich female

Also, a big problem I have with you Nigerians is that you guys think that everything is too expensive, and that prices must be beaten down.

Having worked in the private sector for most of my working life...and having had my salaries and at one point my job security threatened by people not paying my employer on time because 'it is too expensive'....

Plus, at the end, we are , for the first time since 1973, learning how much fuel really costs. And it is a shock, but eventually, economics would do its thing. Of course, prices won't return to the low levels it used to be, but it would fall nonetheless.

Remember GSM? So expensive in the begining, then competition brought prices down.

Nigeria know how much fuel is......since 1967.....

Use Kerosene and Diesel as a reference not GSM........Nigeria government killed Nitel for a foreign private company that extorted and is still extorting her citizen as we speak........the sad aspect is that South Africa won't oblige any foreign private company such....

They Bastardized NEPA before dashing it out in the name privatization to private individual that jettison the terms of the deal one of which is prepaid metering......and yet for how many years now, nothing has changed....in the power sector

Dangote refinary is the same scenario......you earlier asserted that subsidy payment is what deprived the Nigeria nation the initiative to build refinaries....the same government invested an amount that; if you add some money, would build new refinary into Dangote refinary, and in addition still lend him money for the project....... Dangote refinary is a already monopoly.....I pray he won't hold the country to ransom.

I can go on and on
Politics / Re: Fuel Subsidy Removal: Cost Of Living, Petrol Rates In Oil Producing Countries by kazyhm(m): 12:53am On Jun 18, 2023

Yeah, and the problem with subsidsing importation of fuel is simple. The cost differential between the subsidised price and the price of transporting and producing fuel always rises...which leads to a rise in the cost of subsidizing fuel

This eventually means we spend more and more of our earnings subsidisng fuel , and at the end of the day, we not only lose money, but we have to borrow to cover the resulting deficit.

At the end of the day, we are borrowing to pay for subsides, AND borrowing to pay for the normal budget.

Also, subsidies discourage local refining...which is why it had to go now that Dangote refinery is ready...because of the potential losses.

You are free to disagree with me, thank you.

Subsidy in Nigeria is actually the Dollar to Naira exchange rate......

Price of pms did not increase anywhere....but the naira is losing value against the dollar....hence the increments in subsidy.....

You don't actually understand economics........stop embarrassing yourself in public.

Dangote refinary is a private business, it is set up for profit.......and profit, shareholders, foreign partners and debt services shall be the basis for the company policy.......not Nigeria predicament.....which a choice anyway.

Rather, if you sold 10 tubers of yam at #1000 and then buy 1 rap of Pounded yam that weigh 0.1 lb at #500.............this the actual Nigeria oil deal scenario...

That's because we never earned enough in oil revenue to satisfy all of us.

We produce just as much oil as Libya and Qatar, and both Libya and Qatar have 8 million and 2 million approximately...compared to our 200 million people

We also produce about one tenth to one eight of the oil Saudi produces, and Saudi has 40 million people compared to our 200 million.

Plus, things that we should use taxes for...we use oil money for.

There are job sectors that are avoided by the youths.. Due to prestige or ego.
But when they travel abroad they don't mind washing dishes in restaurant and doing garbage man.

Let him continue to wallow in his ignorance. OPEC DOES NOT regulate any price. They only try to influence. There are so many players in the energy market that don't belong to OPEC.

If you think subsidy removal will make Nigeria better then you are on your own.

The real questions should be how did the cost of subsidizing petrol for almost 16years of pdp suddenly become something we pay yearly to keep subsidies on.

Nobody should be quoting international prices of energy without comparing the general cost of living, earnings and standard of living.

Let them subsidize Nigerians abeg, let them arrest and prosecute those behind the subsidy scam. Why would over 200million people pay the price for the crimes of less than 50,000 people.

If Nigeria is so broke then let them start with themselves, why will less than 1million people get to enjoy about 25% of the statutory allocations legally and still have access to steal up to 50%.

No stupid increase in wage too. Are you all not tired of this persistent rate of inflation. If you think the government of Nigeria would give you a minimum wage that will buy a bag of rice you are on your own. The moment they increase the minimum wage the cost of every commodity will react to counter the benefits. Why do you think despite the increase in wage people are still poor all over the world. That's because it's the SYSTEM.

Capital punishment should be meted out to public officers who are found guilty of corruption.

Why do ignorant people think competition would drive prices of petrol down and make it cheaper. Haven't you heard of price rings? How much is a litre of LPG, Diesel, kerosene? E Don come down? Why is competition not driving the prices down.

It is the duty of government to regulate prices, there is no market that cannot be manipulated forget all these demand and supply theory, there is a reason why there are abnormal demand and supply curves. All they need do is create a disruption In The normal flow of things and blame it on an event.

How many times will they remove the so called subsidy self. Don't be surprised that after some months or years you will begin to hear subsidies again.

Our problem is actually proper education......we take education at the certificates value........basic economics of supply and demand is not applicable to a product you're not a producer of; especially in this prodigal approach of Nigerians government.......you're a customer of a product and and you're thinking market force will work in your favour........the actual market force is at where it is been produced not in the country where it been consumed.

N3TRAL:

Prices of Petroleum products are governed by OPEC. As a member state of OPEC , for instance, an oil company in Nigeria should not be selling lower than Saudi Aramco in Saudi Arabia.

The oil prices are fixed by OPEC. They're international. If a barrel of crude oil is 10$, Dangote won't be buying it from Nigeria at $5. He'll be buying it at 10$. When we bring the factors of comparative advantage and the economies of scale, the cost of production in Nigeria should ordinarily be higher.

Dangote's refinery is projected to export its output to African countries and he cannot sell to them below the international prices. The refinery cannot also sell to Nigeria at a lower price because Nigerian smugglers will benefit from such arbitrage system which could see neighboring countries get more supplies than Nigeria as neighboring countries would be getting cheaper fuel from a Nigerian refinery than anywhere else in the world through the backdoor.

If the price from Dangote refinery changes from the price of imported fuel, it would be because of logistic and transportation reasons. Like elimination of the cost of shipping which would mean not more than 30 to 50 naira difference. Dangote's refinery is to improve our balance of payment as a country and prevent a balance of payment deficit but not to make fuel cheaper through another form of subsidy.

The NLC chairman is empty and his opinion is not without prejudice.

Price of crude is different from price of petroleum products......
OPEC regulate crude production not the price of petroleum products........... don't be arrogant in ignorance.
