Female student whose video went viral online once won N250,000 in a FirstBank’s essay competition

Queens College student who fixed eyelashes to school wore it for a school play has been reportedly identified as Nnachi Grace Amarachuwu is said to be one of the most brilliant student in Queens College and she had the fake eyelash on for a role in a school play. Amarachuwu is said to be one of the smartest kids in school as she has represented the school in different functions and competitions.

According to reports, the security men at the gate worked in isolation by stopping the girl and her mom from entering the school premises after it was believed that she wore the fakes lashes for a school play.


Her drama teacher was actually waiting for her inside the school but the security man took the law into his own hands and stopped her at the school and this infuriated her mother, who then demanded to see the school head. The security man refused to allow her see the school head and as she insisted to go in, the security guard pushed her and she got angry and held the man by his clothes, which was what the public saw on the video.

The school authority has denied knowledge of the incident and demanded to know why the student was turned back without their knowledge since her dressing was for her school drama

The case is currently being resolved by the school authorities who we believe will sanction the staff who put the viral video of the mother attacking the school security officer into circulation.

There is unease in the academic and non-academic circles of the Federal University Lokoja (FUL), Kogi State, over the management of the institution’s alleged discreet investigation of some unidentified lecturers and non-academic staff for alleged sex for grades.

A source in one of the institution’s academic departments confided in our correspondent that no fewer than 12 officials of the institution, including six from the History and International Studies Department, were being investigated for indiscretion and sex with female students in exchange for grades.

The source said that one of the lecturers allegedly allowed a female student of the school to rewrite a course she failed in his house, where he also slept with her.
The investigation, said the source, is not limited to the academic departments alone, but extends to some non-academic staff members, who have perfected ways of intimidating some of the female students into sexual relationships.
The source said others from the departments of Economics and Computer Science were among those being investigated.

The source, who pleaded not to be named because the issue remained yet at the level of allegation, added that some of the female students were being pimped by some of their male colleagues who drink out with some of the lectures.

The source said: “It is a serious matter, although it remains at the level of allegation.

“There is this particular lecturer who was said to have taken a fresh exams paper home, where he allowed a female student to rewrite a failed course. The lady in question is said to be sleeping with him.
“There are several other related allegations, more of which are in the History Department. Some non-academic staff members are being investigated too.

“The investigation is going on discreetly and it appears we have a can of worms on our hands.

“Some of the male students are said to be the go-betweens in this sex for grade thing.

“Some staff are said to have gone low as to demand recharge cards and snacks from students, particularly female students, who they allot marks.

“The situation is capable of undermining academic discipline in the school hence the management felt it should be nipped in the bud.”

This followed his arraignment today on six-count charge bordering on corrupt practices by the Ilorin Zonal Office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Trouble started for Adebowale when some staffers of the television station petitioned the EFCC, alleging that the Adebowale sold 10 plots of land allocated to workers by the state government and converted the proceeds to his personal use.


The petitioners also alleged that the defendant used his influence to allocate a portion of the land to his daughter who is not a staff of the television station.

Count three of the charge reads: “That you, Abdulfatai Adewale Adebowale, being a public officer, as the General Manager of Kwara State Television Authority, sometime between May 2015 and June 2015, in Ilorin within the jurisdiction of the High Court of Kwara State, used your office to confer corrupt advantage upon yourself, when you received a cash deposit of the sum of N2,350,000.00 (Two Million, Three Hundred and Fifty Thousand Naira) only, through your Stanbic IBTC Bank account number: 0007306612 from Sulyman Abdulkareem, being proceeds from the sale of land, allocated to staff of Kwara State Television and thereby committed an offence, contrary to and punishable under Section 19 of the Corrupt Practices and other Related Offences Act, 2000.”

Adebowale pleaded not guilty to all the charges, prompting prosecution counsel, Christopher Mschelia to ask the court for a trial date and for the defendant to be remanded in prison custody.

Citing the ill-health of the defendant, defence counsel, D.B Hasana, prayed the court to rather remand the defendant in the custody of the EFCC.

Justice Oyinloye adjourned the matter till Tuesday, November 12 for the hearing of the bail application and ordered that the defendant be remanded in Oke Kura Correctional Centre.
