Funny bunch, I have two houses, I didn't grow longer dick when I built them, na car go come make me grow longer dick. Common sense is far from you. The fact that I said I don't pay too much attention to my rpm doesn't mean I don't know how it works and when/where my gear shift. But ofcourse all mouth and no brains will think otherwise. At 2700 rpm on a similar car with the same engine that you have in the zdx, I am already doing 130 to 140km/hr on a flat road.

I keep up with traffic easily at 3000 rpm and usually do not need to get to that to overtake.

My gear-changes when I am driving sanely occur at 2200 rpm on a flat road and at 2500 on slight inclines.

It is up to you to either grenade this engine, burn out your catalysts or keep this car on the road for the next few years.

You're right about the RPM. Just confirmed that. At 300rpm, I was already cruising at above 120. Never really paid attention to my RPM when I drive. I'm always looking at the km/h

As per your original request..
1. There is no premium fuel sold in Nigeria (our fuel is terrible)
2. If you want to keep pinging at bay, keep rpms low (below 3000rpm) if you can or use octane boosters. Occasional incursions into the high end won't grenade your engine though. Mine has lasted 4 years on Nigerian fuel.
3. Do not pour any snake oil into your fuel tank oo.

Don't fool yourself into thinking that your ZDX is some sort of performance-oriented vehicle. It's not. Great crossovers, though, I absolutely love them.

I'll think twice before saying Cargo cos there's not a lot of space in the trunk. I'm not saying f1 kind of fast like you're making it look. Fast as in regular fast. It's 310 HP. Bro, I beg to differ on your understanding of breaking in. Break in occurs when a car is bought from factory brand new till 1,000 miles. The driver varies speed of the engine and does not load the engine to high rpm’s usually below 4000 rpms. Upshift early and be easy with luggage and passengers so as not to put strain and stress on the drive train.

But this ACURA ZDX, probably is more than 120,000 miles on the dash needs no break in procedure except the engine was rebuilt recently or a brand new engine (not tokunbo) was installed into it.

I can feel the break in has happened already. I don't have to make it run. It does it just fine. Especially in sport mode. It's currently at 112k miles

Well, no one did, when the issue started, I underestimated the gravity of the problem so I was just throwing parts at it. Before I know what was happening, I was deep in it. We changed head gasket and that messed the engine up. The transmission had its own minor problems in the past so I decided to just fix both by buying complete engine and gearbox. Now the engine and gear are in perfect condition, everything else is fine except the overheating.

With all the money I spent trying to save that car, It was really sad, that's why it hurts when some idiot here said I'm just showing off a car when I was asking a genuine question just to avoid a repeat of whatever happened to the other car. The car is parked in my compound now. People adviced me to sell it but I can't get myself to do that. My conscience won't let me do it.

What problems are you facing

The car overheats for no reason. The kind of overheating that has exhausted all options. I bought new engine and transmission, the overheating didn't stop. I scanned for error, nothing came up and changed so many suspected sensors, still won't stop overheating.
Changed radiator, changed thermostat, even removed it at a point. Still won't end the nightmare for me. I had to resolve to buying a new car.
The overheating is not a major problem cos it only happens when I'm on a long trip and my ac is on but it's still a problem cos I travel alot for work.
It's the engine and gear that hurts the most. They both cost 1.3m yet it didn't solve the problem. I was so sure everything will be over when I bought the complete engine and gear but you can imagine my disappointment.
Funny thing is, when the weather is cool. Maybe after rain or late at night, you can drive the car to Kano and back and it won't overheat (as long as you don't stress the engine too much) but as soon as sun comes out, you can't drive for 1 hour before the temperature starts rising.
I should also inform you that you should not take my story as a review of Acura TL 2012. This problem didn't start until about 6 months ago and I have enjoyed absolute peace with the car for over 1 year and half before then.

Yeah I also have a 2012 TL but in all honestly, I didn't know it requires a premium fuel until now cos it was never indicated anywhere like this one. That probably explained some of the issues I'm currently facing with that car.

I just bought an Acura ZDX and I noticed it recommended only using premium unleaded fuel but the issue is we don't have enough petrol stations selling premium fuel in Nigeria. How do I solve this problem and what are the disadvantages of using regular fuel in a premium fuel recommended car? Thank you!

If you buy a car from a dealer are you not given a custom duty paper? Or the receipt is just enough?

It's dangerous but if it's a used car, you probably won't have issue with custom cos they don't stop used cars.
If you are the type that loves everything intact, please return vehicle cos we may say they won't stop you and they may. Plus if it's a stolen car as I suspect, it definitely has been reported stolen in whatever country they imported it from.

All is not lost if he's truly the author of the story. Just reach out to the publishing company and ask to retrieve the right you gave them or you will take them to court.

Hmmm, my car is currently parked at home because of the same issue. I'm fed up. I changed everything you changed but overheating won't stop and now it affected my transmission. After all the throw ins, the engine got worse and car became undrivable unless I change the engine. Guess what! ACURA TL 2012 complete engine and transmission is 1.3m! That's how I parked it at home for 2 weeks now. Basically just saving to buy another car instead.
