overnor Rochas Okorocha of Imo state, has said that Nigerians should not expect the administration of President Mohammadu Buhari, to build sky scrapers.

Okorocha stated this at the Imo state polythecnic Umuagwo, during the 5th convocation ceremony of the institution.

Also the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, SGF, Babachir David Lawal, said that corruption has dwarfed Nigeria and prevent it from progressing.

Okorocha added that Buhari’s administration was only laying the foundation for development.

“This is not the time to weep or complain in the struggle to nationhood, it is a time to comply. Nigeria must write the history of this recession just like other developed nations in their journey to greatness.

“President Buhari is building a strong foundation for sustainable growth of the nation. Whoever that is waiting for Buhari to build sky scrapers and historic tunnels may be wasting time as his job is to lay a solid foundation so that successive governments will have a good foundation to build upon.

“We must all support him and pray for him as his coming as the President is divine and its purpose must be fulfilled.

Okorocha who also conferred on Emeka Offor, the chairman governing council of the Imo state polytechnic also said that the days of frivolities has gone.

He said: “We must adopt wisdom by tying this institution around the neck of successful business men in our society because government alone cannot carry this responsibility.

“To the graduands, the institution has honoured them with certificates after years of tiling, reading, burning candles, but let me tell you that this is the beginning of your journey.

“The certificate in your hands would determine your future depending on how you apply and use it. The days of white collar jobs are gone. The days of frivolities are over. This is the time to think outside the box and see a way to contribute your quota to nationhood.”

Also the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, SGF, Babachir David Lawal, said that corruption has dwarfed Nigeria and prevent it from progressing.

The SGF, who was conferred with a fellowship award of the institution noted that “What has held us down as a nation is corruption.”

According to the release, “In this bid, we must in earnest commence a new journey of rapid and sustained economic growth that will usher in prosperity for all our citizens.

“Despite the challenges that we are confronted with, Nigerians should not despair. The journey for a better Nigeria has commenced in earnest.

“Nigeria being a great nation is not in doubt that with our population and natural resources our economy should be amongst the best in the world. What has held us down as a nation is corruption.

“Corruption in government at all levels has totally destroyed our nation. It is evident in key sectors like educational system, healthcare delivery, infrastructural development and provision of social services.

“Massive corruption has crippled our economy and dwarfed our individual potentials including limiting the enterprising and intellectual capacity of our people.”

Senator Ben Murray Bruce, representing Bayelsa East in the National Assembly, has commended Acting President Yemi Osinbajo over the recent appreciation of the Nigerian Naira at parallel market.

According to Bruce, whatever Osinbajo is doing to increase the value of the Naira is working.

We must enter special prayers and intercede with serious fasting so that President Buhari can continue along this path of progress when he returns to office, hopefully very shortly, by the grace of God.

That is the type of man Nigeria is facing, and that is the kind of man my husband is."

Calling for the unconditional release of her husband and other members of the IPOB detained by the Nigerian government, Uchechi said the federal government has no case against the detainees.

Uchechi said: "Nigeria is presently situated in the right context of the word “democratic ignorance”, which prompts me once again to call the government of Major-General Buhari a democratic dictatorship, not a government of the people, by the people and for the people."

"We Biafrans have the uncontested right to self-determination; the Nigerian government and their terrorized judiciary, who are afraid of honest interpretation of the law, should stop interfering in this case because all they end up doing is foolishly showcasing their unintelligent criminal cheating minds before the whole civilized world," Uchechi said.

"As for the struggle, the Nigeria government and her agents should allow us Biafrans to hold a referendum (with reference to Scotland/UK). If we lose, we will stop agitating for Biafra," she said.

"Let me tell you, Biafra is my hope. I see Biafra as a new beginning, a place where systems are well structured, where there is civility, law and order because as it is, all I see is barbarism in Nigeria. My husband is right for insisting on freedom for all of us Biafrans and beyond because without it, life is meaningless.

"My family is in England today, a very beautiful country, because the likes of Oliver Cromwell fought and many died that the House of Commons may be established to speak for the common man. Without justice, equity and fairness, Africa will remain backward.

Onyeama has said President Buhari is resting in the Nigeria House in London.

The minister of foreign affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama, has President Muhammadu Buhari is not in any hospital in the United Kingdom but relaxing in the Nigeria House in London.

Nigerians have been apprehensive following conflicting reports about the president’s health status since he embarked for a medical trip in the United Kingdaom.

However, Onyeama, said he has not had direct communication with the president since he embarked on vacation. New telegraph reports.

The minister explained that the reason why he has not had direct communication with the president since he travelled is because he has not had any reason to do so.

He made the disclosure on Thursday, February 9, shortly after taking part in the ongoing re-registration exercise of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in his Eke ward in Udi local government area of Enugu state.

Onyeama said the noise over the president’s vacation was not necessary, adding that since assumption of office, the President had “probably rested for only three weeks”.

He said: “The President is in London, at the nation’s official residence in London, not in any hospital. He is in the Nigeria House. And, I know very well that he will be back as soon as possible. In my opinion, we don’t need to make out anything from that.

“When you think of the pace upon which he’s been working, not too long ago, people were saying he was travelling too much, he was not travelling on holiday, he’s been working, and it has taken a huge toll on him.

“After about 18 months, he’s probably not had more than three weeks rest time, that’s not much in 18 months

“As the minister, I spoke to him before I went to the AU summit, we were together actually not too long ago, in Mali, Bamako in the mid-January, when we came back and I had to go to Addis Ababa, while he went to London. We spoke before he travelled".

“But since he went on vacation, I’ve not had direct communication with him and the reason why is because I’ve not had any reason to have direct communication."

He said he could have initiated direct communication with the president if he wanted to, but added that the president went to London to rest and should be allowed his rest.

In a related news, Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti state has called on Nigerians to jointly pray to God for President Muhammadu Buhari’s speedy recovery so that he can return on time and resume work.

Fayose made the call on Thursday, February 9, at the government house in Ekiti state when the general overseer of Champions Glory Assembly Church, Pastor Joshua Lasisi, paid him a visit, Vanguard reports.

The governor who wished the president sound health, however, advised the presidency to ensure that it gives accurate information about the health status of the president so as to forestall a situation whereby people would continue to spread rumour.

The Nigeria Navy on Thursday raided over forty illegal crude oil refineries at the Jones Creek in Warri south local government area of Delta state.

The Navy said the more than forty illegal refineries contain over one million metric tons of stolen crude being illegally refined at the creeks by crude oil thieves.

The Nigerian Navy commander, in Delta, Commodore Ibrahim Dewu, told journalists that the discovery was a consequence of a raid on major illegal refineries in the creeks on Thursday.


Illegal refineries in the Niger Delta

Dewu said: “What we saw today is really far beyond comprehension because for just one camp we have discovered over 40 illegal refineries.

“The quantity of the product in the tanks and the one flowing on the ground is really much; we discovered over 200 tanks, carrying over 10,000 liters each, which were boiling, meaning the refineries were fully operating by the time we got there.”

Daily Post reports that three suspects were arrested during the raid of the illegal refineries.

Following the quantity of crude discovered, Dewu called for a quick stop to the operation of illegal refineries, noting that the operation of illegal refineries is dangerous to human lives and the environment.

He said the Nigerian Navy Ship was engaging oil thieves and operators of illegal refineries so as to end their illicit activities and ensure that the lives and environment of the people in the Niger Delta communities were safe.

He warned operators of illegal refineries to stop the trade, noting that they have a mandate and they must execute it to the letter.

“I’m sending a message to the communities that we are equal to our task. The CNS has given us a mandate, which we must keep; we are going to continue to sustain these operations so that we’ll be able to stop all these illegal activities within the creeks.

“This will make the people in the communities live a normal life because as it is now, there’s no aquatic life because the environment is polluted by these illegal activities,” he said.

Governor Fayose has urged Nigerians to pray for President Buhari’s quick recovery.

Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti state has called on Nigerians to jointly pray to God for President Muhammadu Buhari’s speedy recovery so that he can return on time and resume work.

Fayose made the call on Thursday, February 9, at the government house in Ekiti state when the general overseer of Champions Glory Assembly Church, Pastor Joshua Lasisi, paid him a visit, Vanguard reports.

The governor who wished the president sound health, however, advised the presidency to ensure that it gives accurate information about the health status of the president so as to forestall a situation whereby people would continue to spread rumour.

He said: “But the best thing we should all realize is that the Presidency owes Nigerians accurate information about the situation of things.

"Otherwise people would continue to spread one rumour or the other. Nigerians demanding for truthful and accurate information about the President’s health from the Presidency are right because the moment you assume such a position, your life has become public. So, we should let Nigerians have the accurate information about the whereabouts of Mr. President."

He asked Nigerians to pray for the president, noting that nobody has control over health challenges.

"I cannot say I cannot be sick when I’m sick because I am a public figure. I represent the interests of many people. They must know where I am, what is wrong and what am doing it is the right of every Nigerians. But I want to urge all of us to stick together and pray for Mr. President," he said.



In related news, emerging reports suggest that, if all things go as planned, then President Muhammadu Buhari would return to Nigeria from his vacation to the United Kingdom this Saturday, February 11.

According to Leadership, a source disclosed on Wednesday, February 8, that except there would be any last minute change, all is set for President Buhari’s return.

The source, a senior official in the presidency, who spoke in confidence with newsmen, simply said: “Barring any last minute change, we are expecting the president back this weekend, probably on Saturday.”

Dr Barnes warned that the moon will “get so close that it would spiral inward, dissipating its orbital kinetic energy in a spectacular collision and merger with the Earth.”

The group in a statement released by its spokesperson Powerful Emma said: “The indigenous people of Biafra IPOB and it's leadership worldwide wants to use this medium to remind Nigeria government and Nigerians what is about to befall on the contraption called Nigeria in the near future.”

Emma also said that God is angry with Nigeria because its government has continued to detain Kanu.

“The Almighty God the Chukwu Okike Abiama is angry with Nigeria government and their failure to heed for the total release his prophet mazi Nnamdi Kanu.

There's a saying that a Prophet is not recognized even in his own kingdom.

God is not a man that he should lie. Nnamdi Kanu is divinely sent on a mission and must be seen as such. No harm must befall the prophet of God.
