Beninempire:Not accurate! Edo and Delta states were part of the Western Region before Midwest Region was created. There is a big difference between Western Region and South West. In a similar manner, Cross River, Akwa Ibom, Rivers and Bayelsa states were once part of the Eastern Region, but we can't say they were part of the South East. South West and South East were recent creations by IBB. |
Oladelepsy001:If he didn't do what he did, he would never have had the opportunity of being number 3 man in Nigeria. That history can never be erased. |
Bossjakande:He avoided her cos they are in a country where women have more power than men when it comes to disputes. The laws of the Western World tend to protect women more than men.. If that man had beaten her up, she would simply call the cops and get him arrested. Being a black guy, he could even face jail term. |
martineverest:It's not a consolation. I'm trying to correct your wrong notion that there are no SS Igbos that agree with the Main stream Igbos. Are you aware that both Imo and Rivers states have Egbema people, and they are basically the same clan divided into 2 states when the Eastern region was divided after the Civil War? They are in Ohaji/Egbema LGA in Imo State and Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni LGA in Rivers State. Talking about Biafra of the 60s and now, the truth is that the 5 South Eastern states are enough to form a country. The core Igbos have EVERYTHING we need to form a viable country. We have one of the best human capital in Africa. The present day Rwanda is just about the size of the South East, doesn't have crude oil and is landlocked, yet it is doing very well under a visionary leader, Paul Kagame. Listen and listen well, Igbos don't need South South! Crude oil is getting worthless. In the next 20 years, probably only Africa and few Asian countries will still be buying crude oil in bulk. Crude oil may be selling less than $20 per barrel then. What would SS still be bragging with then? By the way, SE has crude oil in 3 out of its 5 states and enormous natural gas reserves. |
martineverest:Stop saying what you don't know. The Biafran war was fought by the defunct Eastern Region which consists of the present day South East, Cross River, Akwa Ibom, Rivers and Bayelsa States. Philip Effiong from the present day Akwa Ibom State was the Vice President of Biafra. You have met some South South Igbos who don't align with South East Igbos, but it doesn't mean they all don't align. Onyeopobo here on Nairaland is a clear example of South South Igbo who connects with his Igbo brothers from the South East. There are many others from Delta State (Anioma) and Rivers State. |
martineverest:It depends on your state and tribe. The present day Edo and Delta states were never part of Biafra but Cross River, Akwa Ibom, Rivers and Bayelsa were. Moreover, there are South South Igbos who identify with the mainstream Igbos in the South East. You should know that South South isn't synonymous with any ethnic group, but South East always refers to Igbos. |
martineverest:Because of DEPUTY Senate President? You're a joker! |
9jatriot:But South South got a president for the first time under PDP. Does it not matter? |
Cherrybae:It's a shame that you can't even read and understand a simple and short news like this, yet you're calling other people shameless. Can you point out to me what this news has got to do with Atiku? |
Dearlord:You obviously don't know how carbon monoxide kills. |
TroubleMaker47:Blame the blogger. The person that sent them the story wrote this: 'Just in....... |
Ultimatezlant:Igbos haven't forgotten the level of hate FFK poured out on them few years ago. He's only acting like he supports Igbos simply cos he married an Igbo woman who gave him 4 sons, when he couldn't have one from his 3 previous marriages. More so, he's kinda trapped in PDP for now, not like he loves the party. I can bet you that FFK will return to APC before 2023 to campaign for Yoruba presidency. FFK is a core defender of Yoruba interest, basically at the level of being a bigot. Real Igbos know he can't be trusted. |
DuBLINGreenb:It's talking about oldest persons in World Cup history to score hatrick. She's already the oldest woman but people may not understand the gravity of it till she's compared to players in men's football, and she's still the oldest. |
ricon:That's only if he will play for Portugal in Qatar 2022, knowing that he will be 37 years old then. Even if he does play, is there a guarantee that he will score a hatrick by then? |
tyup:Did you read where he said people could be unconscious? What of someone who isn't unconscious but fractured the femur or the tibia and fibula on both sides? How can such a person run even with all the adrenaline in this world? Pray you don't experience this kind of situation in your life. |
sharpsecret:You read a completely different meaning into what I wrote. When I talked about conquering territories, I didn't mean fighting wars and claiming people's lands. It's an intellectual thing that I was talking about. By saying territories, I meant areas like education, commerce, sports, technology etc. Even in politics, outside Nigeria, there are more Igbos holding top political positions in different countries of the world than there are people of any other tribe in Nigeria. When I talked about alignment, I was referring to political alignment by way of political parties and electoral contests. |
Johnnyessence:I'm not sure God is so keen on Nigerian politics. |
Johnnyessence:Unfortunately, I can't see any competition against Lawan and Gbaja. Their victory is basically a done deal. ![]() |
whirlwind7:My brother, the situation is sickening! |
olas24u:The only set of Nigerians that have a relatively similar mentality with Igbos are the Ibibios, Efiks, Annangs, Ikwerre, Ijaw etc, and these are the people of the defunct Eastern region of Nigeria. They are the people that were part of the Biafran war, and are today found in Cross River, Akwa Ibom, Rivers and Bayelsa states. These are the only people Igbos can completely align with. As a matter of fact, Igbos have been relating closely with these same people for centuries before the British came to colonise Nigeria. However, it will be difficult in this day and age for those same tribes to join Igbos in a common struggle of nationhood, cos many of them can easily sense the domineering spirit of the Igbos. Igbos love to conquer territories and are usually not afraid to upset the existing status quo. If not for the civil war and the suppression of Igbos that followed, Igbos would have been the leading Nigerians in most sectors today, not necessarily by nepotism but by merit. Talking about Nigerian political alliance, you guys shouldn't try to rewrite history simply because Yorubas aligned with the North under APC and it worked for them. Since independence, 2015 was the very first time Yorubas had an effective and successful alliance with the North that yielded fruits for them. The SE and SS have been the southern side aligning with the North in the first, second and at the beginning of the fourth republic. |
olas24u:You are the confused person here. The person I quoted said God will not forgive Lugard for letting other good tribes share a country with hateful Igbos, yet when Nnamdi Kanu was shouting about referendum, Nigerian government jailed him, and even after releasing him, they still went after him and many other Igbos that had bought into his mindset. If all other tribes are good and Igbos are the hateful ones, why can't the rest of the country join together and force the hateful Igbos out? Why must you share a country with the same people you hate? |
Cherrybae:Yet you can't allow the bitter and hateful people go their way? Aren't you confused? |
Nbote: |
slowice:U're welcome |
slowice:...cart before the horse. |
MrTrend:The teeth in the pictures were already rotten. Why wouldn't they have cracked? A healthy set of teeth that can easily beak and chew bones, can open bottles. However, the practice is still discouraged. I only do it when there's no other way for me. |
ozowarac:That's not possible though. The investments that have been made in Lagos over the last couple of decades cannot be replicated in any state even in 20 years, not to talk of 5 years. |
Timmyking01:A first timer has never won SP seat since the last 16 years. There's no way Rochas would have won SP. Moreover, Rochas is a clown. Nobody would have voted him as SP. |
MediaNGN:Taa! Boko Haram terrorists are not Muslims. So we have been told countless times. |
But APC members said Saraki-led Senate is the worst since independence, yet they passed at least twice more bills than any other Senate since 2003. |
francescainnoce:Not true. Apart from during turbulence (which doesn't happen all the time), nothing about flying is scary except just the occasional thoughts of "if something happen for up here, na death straight". |

you know south west is dominated by Yoruba, we wanted to have our own voice, that's why Midwest region was created. From there Edo and delta were created.
