The author of the article which the op shared was only predicting danger in Nigeria in the event that Jonathan lost the election, which isn't different from several predictions we heard of Nigeria breaking up by 2015. The first link was absolute rubbish. The thread was created 7 solid years ago. There's no proof that the guy who created it is Igbo. I went through some of his posts and never saw where he wrote anything in favour of Igbos. The most serious fact is that the same account hasn't posted on Nairaland for 6 years now. We don't even know if that account holder is still "with us" as at today. On what basis were you then saying that Igbos were busy creating threads all over Nairaland saying that Northerners will never rule Nigeria again, when it was obvious that power was definitely going to return to the North after Jonathan's tenure (which they assumed was going to be in 2019)? |

In Yar'Adua's time, Patricia Etteh was Speaker also for less than 6 months before being removed, and Dimeji Bankole replaced her. BeautifulMind2:To be honest, I really don't know. I only said that cos Ogun State has almost closed up the gap between it and Anambra, and it's benefitting from it's closeness to Lagos. If things continue the way they are presently going in Nigeria, Ogun may overtake Anambra, but if a few more of indigenous Anambra investors scattered all over the world decide to pour their wealth into Anambra, there will be no limit to how far the state will go. A birth of Biafra will bring about an amazing development in Igbo land. That's why I laugh when those people call Igbo land village. They don't know the wealth of investments already on ground and more waiting to be deposited in Igbo land when the time and conditions are right. 3 Likes |

Unlimitk:Your pictures of Abeokuta are not bad. One of the clearest things to me from those pics is the good state of Abeokuta roads. I also agree with you that Ogun State will likely overtake Anambra in GDP. It's not really about Amosun. Ogun is simply reaping from it's proximity to Lagos. More and more people who want to invest in the Lagos metropolis are doing that in Ogun state at the moment cos Lagos is basically full. Even a cousin of mine who is a successful businessman in Lagos built his house in Ogun State. I also understand your need to defend your state, especially when you were first provoked. It's perfectly alright. Some other Nairalanders would have been very vile in their defence if they were at the receiving end, like you. The point in bold is really unnecessary. The picture below is a building recently built in Umuchukwu Community in Anambra State. Apart from Lagos and Abuja, most other Nigerian states can't boast of any building like that. 11 Likes

Those set of graduates can only be employed through nepotism locally. They can never amount to anything great professionally, and can never excel internationally. dipopooo:Igbos supported Atiku and Agbaje cos of PDP, not that they are Igbos. Didn't Yorubas support Buhari? Is Buhari Yoruba? It's not just about Buhari being their own cos even when Buhari contested against Yar'Adua, they also voted massively for Buhari against Yar'Adua who was equally their son. I made mention of support for Buhari to show that the fact that a few of the people Igbos supported in recent times failed doesn't mean all the people Igbos support will always fail. APC won't be in power forever. No party rules perpetually, so also APC will fail one day, even if not in 2023, it will be either 2027 or 2031. |

If you're lucky not to have lost anything important to you before, go and thank God. Don't brag about it. I lost a car 2 years ago, and I know how painful it was. I'm sure this guy feels far more pain than I felt over my car, cos this bike wasn't his own, and that was his only source of livelihood. The truth is that many Igbos weren't much interested in that Senate presidency elections cos all the candidates were from the North East and none of them was a PDP candidate, so it didn't really matter to Igbos whichever of them that won. As soon as Goje stepped down, most Igbos knew it was all over. The little noise against Lawal was just to show they were completely opposed to APC. Talking about supporting 'losers', the people of Katsina, Borno, Yobe, Kano, etc had been voting massively for Buhari since 2003. It took 12 years for the candidate who had been a perpetual loser to win. That's how life is. Nothing lasts forever. 1 Like |

iammo:When you guys celebrate Buhari on his recognition of June 12, kindly remember that there wouldn't have been any place for June 12, if the same Buhari and his gang of coup plotters didn't truncate our democracy in 1983. Celebrating Buhari's achievement in recongizing June 12 is like celebrating a man who stole from you and later repented and returned whatever is left of what he stole. Imagine someone stole your 10k and after several years, he had a change of mind and returned 2k to you. You then turn around and make a hero out of him. That's what some of you are doing. |

debo1990:The reason is simple. Nearly half of Yorubas voted for Atiku, but you rarely hear them defending their choice of Atiku or PDP on Nairaland. Here, every supporter of PDP is tagged IPOB. How come we don't usually see Yorubas having a face-off with other Yorubas on Nairaland while defending their choice of Atiku? By the time only Igbos are insulted for voting Atiku, and every supporter of PDP is called IPOB, why won't Igbos return the 'favour'? The truth is that majority of Yoruba Muslims are pro-APC while Yoruba Christians are mostly pro-PDP. Since APC is bringing gains to Yoruba land at the moment, Yoruba Christians (and the few Muslims) who voted PDP have gone quiet. 2 Likes |

luluosas:Forget that. It's all about convictions. Igbos are not convinced to support Buhari. You don't force people to go against their convictions. Conduct that election another 1 million times, and Igbos will vote against Buhari 2 million times. Jonathan lost woefully in Buhari's region in 2011, yet nobody went about abusing the North for the poor votes given to Jonathan. Also, Igbos are nearly a homogenous Christian population and in the present day Nigeria, more Christians are against Buhari than those supporting him. That perhaps is the reason why Buhari had just over half of Yoruba votes, cos there is an almost equal share of Christians and Muslims in the South West. If not for the violence that happened in many PDP strongholds on the presidential election day coupled with the rigging of the election, Atiku could have had as many votes or even more votes than Buhari. Why reduce Atiku's support to an Igbo affair? |

South West gave the same Atiku 47% of their votes. That's just a little less than half of the SW votes. In the South South, Atiku won Buhari hands down. Goje is not Igbo and he's an APC member but igbo supported him. Those states in the north you mentioned were voting massively for Buhari because he's their own but Atiku and Agbaje Igbo are not igbo1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 ... 36 37 38 39 40 41 42 43 44 (of 121 pages)
