https://www.nairaland.com/1992967/2015-nigeria-collapse-jonathan-fail
Hope you'll shut up now? No, you should be the one to shut up! In the 2nd link you shared, nobody ever mentioned in the thread that northerners will never rule Nigeria again. The author of the article which the op shared was only predicting danger in Nigeria in the event that Jonathan lost the election, which isn't different from several predictions we heard of Nigeria breaking up by 2015. The first link was absolute rubbish. The thread was created 7 solid years ago. There's no proof that the guy who created it is Igbo. I went through some of his posts and never saw where he wrote anything in favour of Igbos. The most serious fact is that the same account hasn't posted on Nairaland for 6 years now. We don't even know if that account holder is still "with us" as at today. On what basis were you then saying that Igbos were busy creating threads all over Nairaland saying that Northerners will never rule Nigeria again, when it was obvious that power was definitely going to return to the North after Jonathan's tenure (which they assumed was going to be in 2019)? |

Even a football club would not do that. If he had confirmed her in January, she would have had 6 months to function. What is the big deal in having a state chief judge in office for 6 months if she is qualified to occupy the office? In Obasanjo's time, Evans Enwerem was Senate President for less than 6 months before being removed and replaced by Chuba Okadigbo who lasted less than one year. In Yar'Adua's time, Patricia Etteh was Speaker also for less than 6 months before being removed, and Dimeji Bankole replaced her. If someone who still has many years in active service gets appointed and dies in office within 6 months, won't they be replaced? |

lilfreezy: Well, everything is upside down in this country. As regards to comparison between Uyo and Abuja stadium, Nigeria football league matches are not been played in Abuja as no club is using it unlike that of Uyo which akwa united plays in. In addition, when the Uyo stadium was built, akpabio signed a deal with Julius berger for continues maintainance which i believe udom renewed.
Like i said earlier, everything in Nigeria is been run upside down as states and federal government are not supposed to be running the facility. Private investors should be brought in, naming rights should be sold(dangote arena, oando stadium etc) , clubs should be privatised and not run by state government. Taking a look at epl, and laliga would give an example on how our football should be ran. See ehn, Nigeria mata don tire me Abuja National Stadium is like Wembley. Who manages Wembley? |

I only said that cos Ogun State has almost closed up the gap between it and Anambra, and it's benefitting from it's closeness to Lagos. If things continue the way they are presently going in Nigeria, Ogun may overtake Anambra, but if a few more of indigenous Anambra investors scattered all over the world decide to pour their wealth into Anambra, there will be no limit to how far the state will go. A birth of Biafra will bring about an amazing development in Igbo land. That's why I laugh when those people call Igbo land village. They don't know the wealth of investments already on ground and more waiting to be deposited in Igbo land when the time and conditions are right. |

One of the clearest things to me from those pics is the good state of Abeokuta roads. I also agree with you that Ogun State will likely overtake Anambra in GDP. It's not really about Amosun. Ogun is simply reaping from it's proximity to Lagos. More and more people who want to invest in the Lagos metropolis are doing that in Ogun state at the moment cos Lagos is basically full. Even a cousin of mine who is a successful businessman in Lagos built his house in Ogun State. I also understand your need to defend your state, especially when you were first provoked. It's perfectly alright. Some other Nairalanders would have been very vile in their defence if they were at the receiving end, like you. The point in bold is really unnecessary. The picture below is a building recently built in Umuchukwu Community in Anambra State. Apart from Lagos and Abuja, most other Nigerian states can't boast of any building like that.

Didn't Yorubas support Buhari? Is Buhari Yoruba? It's not just about Buhari being their own cos even when Buhari contested against Yar'Adua, they also voted massively for Buhari against Yar'Adua who was equally their son. I made mention of support for Buhari to show that the fact that a few of the people Igbos supported in recent times failed doesn't mean all the people Igbos support will always fail. Igbos always do their things upsidedown... Imagine, they supported Atiku against Buhari, Agbaje in Lagos against Sanwoolu and Ndume against Lawal... Haba na curse? Always support losers For the point in bold, so what's the big deal there? Apart from Ndume, the other 2 were PDP candidates and Igbos supported them. I don't agree that Igbos supported Ndume against Lawal. The truth is that many Igbos weren't much interested in that Senate presidency elections cos all the candidates were from the North East and none of them was a PDP candidate, so it didn't really matter to Igbos whichever of them that won. As soon as Goje stepped down, most Igbos knew it was all over. The little noise against Lawal was just to show they were completely opposed to APC. Talking about supporting 'losers', the people of Katsina, Borno, Yobe, Kano, etc had been voting massively for Buhari since 2003. It took 12 years for the candidate who had been a perpetual loser to win. That's how life is. Nothing lasts forever. |

Its really sad the fact that history.isnt been thought on schools now people come up with twisted version.
For the sake of time.i will itemize my points.
* military take over isn't always a bad thing especially if civilians call for it.
* Buhari was in a course abroad when shagari coup was Sponsored by Abiola, Ibb, ibrahim bako and Abacha
*As the most highest ranking officer of the time, buhari agreed to lead the military goverment and look into corruption allegation levied on shagari regime and then conduct an election after the fourth year.
*Abiola and Ibb ousted Buhari due to idiagbons stance on abiolas import waiver for RCN equipment, and the arrest of some of ibb's drug moles.
*Buhari was subsequently jailed for almost 4 years by Abiolas coupist friend ibb.
*his recognition of june 12 strugle isn't about him or abiola or ibb neither is it about yorubas. It is about Nigerian electorate been demied democracy. Your attempt at justifying the coup or absolving Buhari of full blame in the coup is sickening. ... The leader of the coup d'état was Major General Muhammadu Buhari of Katsina, whose background and political loyalties tied him closely to the Muslim north and the deposed government... 1983 Coup By the end of 1983, the civilian government in Nigeria was overthrown by a military coup led by Major-General Muhammadu Buhari. BBC News – Nigeria's Military Coup of 1983 Which civilians called for the 1983 coup? What made that coup a good thing? And is Buhari presently giving the Nigerian electorates democracy? How will this recognition of June 12 translate to real democracy for Nigerians? Will it prevent people being slaughtered all over Nigeria by Fulani herdsmen and the presidency keeps mum? |

Buhari that just came out of prison imposed on him by IBB and abiolas coup were dasuki abused hell out of him.. then gets a call from abacha that had already imprisoned Abiola, Yaradua, Obasanjo, and Diya.. is he stupid to say No and return to prison after lossing his mother and wife? Common man lets be reasonable. Buhari already won the election he needed.no SW approval but made National Stadium Abiolas remembrance. When you guys celebrate Buhari on his recognition of June 12, kindly remember that there wouldn't have been any place for June 12, if the same Buhari and his gang of coup plotters didn't truncate our democracy in 1983. Celebrating Buhari's achievement in recongizing June 12 is like celebrating a man who stole from you and later repented and returned whatever is left of what he stole. Imagine someone stole your 10k and after several years, he had a change of mind and returned 2k to you. You then turn around and make a hero out of him. That's what some of you are doing. |

Richdad50:

Every other past leader both military and civilian except Buhari has given an account of its stewardship by writing a book detailing every decisions and nail biting maneuvers in the cause of running the government. Long after they left office, they attended leadership schools, public service institutes, gave lectures and symposiums, seminars, and contributions.
Only Buhari never did. He went locked down except during elections where he contested. He never read and never wrote. He was rusting, yet like an archeological finding, we excavated a fading memory and dusted a dying cognitive tissue to become a PRESIDENT.
You see! Nigeria's problem is not the question of the elite vs the masses but an interpolation of both.

debo1990: This is a nice angle to look at things, all we do now is to generalize, that is what happened when some Igbos accuse the Yorubas for supporting buhari which is a way of ridiculing the efforts of Lagos PDP that made the margin so small or the people of Oyo that delivers the state for PDP. The truth be told the south Easterners need to learn how to have a civil conversation. Check all threads on Nairaland and see how they react to issues The reason is simple. Nearly half of Yorubas voted for Atiku, but you rarely hear them defending their choice of Atiku or PDP on Nairaland. Here, every supporter of PDP is tagged IPOB. How come we don't usually see Yorubas having a face-off with other Yorubas on Nairaland while defending their choice of Atiku? By the time only Igbos are insulted for voting Atiku, and every supporter of PDP is called IPOB, why won't Igbos return the 'favour'? The truth is that majority of Yoruba Muslims are pro-APC while Yoruba Christians are mostly pro-PDP. Since APC is bringing gains to Yoruba land at the moment, Yoruba Christians (and the few Muslims) who voted PDP have gone quiet. |

Realdeals: In an excerpt of the National address by the then Military head of state General Ibrahim Babangida annulling the June 12 1993 Presidential election. IBB, despite acknowledging the election to be free and fair, still went ahead to annul it, read the excerpt below… ”It is true that the presidential election was generally seen to be free, fair and peaceful. However, there was in fact a huge array of electoral malpractice virtually in all states of the federation before the actual voting began. About 2.1 billion naira was spent by both presidential candidates. We have authenticated reports of electoral malpractice against party agents, NEC officials and the electorate, who were manipulated through offer and acceptance of money and other forms of inducements The conduct of the election, the behavior of the candidates and post-election responses continued to elicit signals which the nation can only ignore at its peril… To proclaim and swear in a president who has encouraged a campaign of divide and rule amongst our various ethnic groups would have been detrimental to the survival of the third republic.” General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida former Head of State, Federal Republic of Nigeria Excerpt from his national address on the annulment of the June 12 presidential election, 26 June 1993

Funny but True story. So it happened back in the days that my dad got admission in UNILAG to study Economics. The greatest difficulty they had was how to translate the word "economics" to his grandparents in Igbo language. After several days, my dad's elder cousin summoned courage to do the explanation.
He told the grandparents that my dad will be leaving house very soon to go and learn how to manage things and avoid wastes. Grandpa sighed, took his walking stick, and went into the house, came after some minutes and said
"He has always know that my dad will be a stingy man. How can he go and start learning how to be stingy when he doesn't even know if he will be rich.
Omo, the old man provoked and told Dad he shouldn't bother coming to the house again. That was how dad and his cousin prostrated and started begging the old man that that's not what they meant.
So I ask, what do you call Economics in Igbo language? Ekọnọmiikisi |

luluosas: My dear, they shut themselves in the leg with their hate vote. No need to cry Forget that. It's all about convictions. Igbos are not convinced to support Buhari. You don't force people to go against their convictions. Conduct that election another 1 million times, and Igbos will vote against Buhari 2 million times. Jonathan lost woefully in Buhari's region in 2011, yet nobody went about abusing the North for the poor votes given to Jonathan. Also, Igbos are nearly a homogenous Christian population and in the present day Nigeria, more Christians are against Buhari than those supporting him. That perhaps is the reason why Buhari had just over half of Yoruba votes, cos there is an almost equal share of Christians and Muslims in the South West. If not for the violence that happened in many PDP strongholds on the presidential election day coupled with the rigging of the election, Atiku could have had as many votes or even more votes than Buhari. Why reduce Atiku's support to an Igbo affair? |

Happy Democracy Day It's funny how you guys have made the support for Atiku seem like only an Igbo thing. Atiku had a whooping 11 million votes out of which the South East gave him less than 2 million. South West gave the same Atiku 47% of their votes. That's just a little less than half of the SW votes. In the South South, Atiku won Buhari hands down. Today, it's only the South East that voted for Atiku. Issorait. |
