mehn,i'm still shocked ooo, mine receives calls too, charges well ,i even listen to music with it, if its motherboard is really bad, shey the fone ought to have shut down completely....will go and pick it up on fri and get a new screen, lemme gamble and see if changing the screen will solve my problem

Also,if you know how to loosen phones, disconnect the battery and dry the phone for some time.

I know the screen may never return to normal, but like the previous guy said, you can order for screen and give engineer to fix it when the phone is totally dried up.

Like you said, it's a gamble

I can only access my USB flash on system file manager, but it doesn't show up on x-plore. It says: "no supported petition was found". The same is true for every other file manager. Please how do I enable third party app to access my flash on RN8?

Try to install FULL VERSION Microsoft exFAT/NTFS by paragon software.

Ensure you install full version. Search google for it. Free version on playstore can't be used without watching video ads

Next install total commander file manager.

After installing both, insert your external drive/flash into your phone, launch the Paragon software and then click on MOUNT.

The rest is pretty easy. If you have trouble using the software, check google by typing both software names, article will come up showing how to use them.

The good thing i've noticed about this method is that you only have to do it once. After you've accessed your files on the flash, you can uninstall the apps and your normal file manager would be able to detect it without problems

Another question pls, Are you on the latest MIUI version?
If Yes, does your phone have these occasional lags and is the battery life still as it used to be on the previous MIUI softwares.
If No, how is the performance like, does it handle day-to-day and regular tasks smoothly.

PS: I upgraded to the latest versions a few days after I bought it, and it isn't how feel like it should be. I think I recall that on the previous Versions it wasn't like this, but I did not stay long, so I am not very certain.

Yes I'm on the latest miui. Just installed the latest this afternoon. Battery life seems the same. It's still fairly new (1 month) so battery issues can't really be noticeable yet.

No lags. I don't use much apps.

It handles my tasks without problems. But your usage may differ from mine. So you may not really use my case to judge yours.

Try check your device for updates, there should be a new one. You may update if you feel a need to.

So all is required is to flash the Global Rom on it?
Is your device working fine, or are there any issues with this China version?

First question - The aliepress seller is the one who flashed the global rom. I don't know much about flashing xiaomi

Second question - Device works fine. Only issue is I don't get Mtn 4g in my area cos band 3 never reach. All other 4g I dey get.

How do one recognize a global version from a China version?

There are a few ways to recognize a global version.

First from the carton. They are usually different.

Second from the specs. Sometimes, some variants of a particular device are specific to china.

Third , if you have the device with you, confirm using the IMei from xiaomi product page.

Phones / Re: Help! Strange Numbers Calling My Newly Bought Sim by Kennyflyair: 5:06pm On Oct 09, 2020
I guess the line is am Mtn line. Same thing happened to me. I received a Call from the previous owner telling me that I'm using his line. It's definitely a recycled Number you bought.

If you're not sure of what to do, contact their official twitter page and explain the issue. They probably resolve it or advise you on what to do

Genius43 what may be the reason why my Google Assistant keeps launching on its own at various intervals for no reason? How can I fix that please?

Is it a bug from the MIUI12.0.3? I did an update sometime last month. Device is RN8Pro

Sometimes, the earphone you use can cause it. When there is movement in the 3.5mm Jack, it triggers the google assistant. I'm speaking from experience of my phone
Phones / Re: What Most Itel Users Won't Tell You... by Kennyflyair: 9:24pm On Oct 07, 2020

As much as I once was a dedicated user of itel phones, I must say the area itel tends to hide from her patronisers and that is the issue of slow charging. Itel phones take longer to charge than regular devices. ( grin

Men do I have a story for you guys.
I bought an itel a56 very recently due to the fact say money low. To be fair, the phone is not bad for a light user and the 4000mah battery even lasts well. But when the thing don low, na that time I know say I don use my money buy problem. Na 6hours and above the phone dey take Charge before e full. I first think say na the phone get problem until I saw a few users complain on the itel page on facebook.
This thread has fully confirmed what I suspected.

They really need to improve on this. Na Nigeria wey gather dey o. Money scarce, even light sef scarce. Most people need phone that you'll plug for 1hour and see at least 50%

Me wey be say the phone wey I dey use before the itel get fast charging, that 6 hours charging come be like 4 years for my eyes. I sharply put am for nairaland and jiji. Bot the phone for 26k, after a month I put it up for sale. Come see pricing! Got an offer of 20k from one nairalander, instead make I sell I still dey do shakara. Last last na 17k I sell almost new itel a56. Lost 9k just for buying a worthless phone.

When I entered jiji to Post my ad, I saw many people wanting to sell their a56. The prices the put there were still close to new price. Because I wanted to sell desperately, I put it up for 19k then sold for 17k after begging the girl to even add 1k on top.

In fact, if you're in desperate need of Cheap phones, enter jiji and search for itel a56, you'll see many. Ignore their price and bargain with your own price. There is a high chance that the seller would agree cos most of them want to get it off their hands. Na mostly cos of that horribly slow charging most people dey sell.

I swear, this is probably my longest Post on nairaland but na because the thing dey pain me na y I dey type long story like this.

If you noticed, I never complained about the phone itself. I knew the specs of the devce I bought. 1gb ram, 16gb rom. I know how to work well with low ram phone. I still used a 512mb ram phone till early 2020.

If only itel can improve on their charging speeds, I think their brand would still be ok for people on low budgets.

I really doubt their charging is up to 5Watts sef. Maybe na 2 watt charging them dey use.

Op thank you for this thread, it confirmed my suspicion. That would be the first and last itel device I would buy in my life. I Don port go xiaomi. No be say then sef dey perfect but at least complaint dey minimal.

Namaste

it's not only the note 8 users that haven't gotten miui 12. I'm not sure if anybody in the 8 series is on miui 12. Although I can say for the redmi 8a that it has gotten android 10.

Make una just chill for xiaomi. Even after watching videos and reading a few stuff on miui 12, I noticed that it may not be all that special to me. I don't think I would be psyched by the control Centre or the fairly heavy animations.

One thing I'm looking forward to is the sunlight mode that I was hearing about sometimes ago.

abdsamad:
New question: is there a way i can check which lte band my sim is currently using.
The reason i ask is that glo seems to be performing poorly on mi 9 compared to what it was like on the p30.
It's significant enough that i can't listen to an online radio while driving without constant buffering whereas the p30 performed smoothly on the same sim.

So I'm wondering if the mi 9 is preferentially using band 3 (which i would expect this kind of poor quality from), despite supporting both band 3 and 28.

Yes, I've verified that the phone is indeed global version, via the official xiaomi page

Does Glo Support band 3. Tot it was only band 28
