Politics › Oba Akiolu Hates Igbos says an expert on police affairs by KEVIND(op): 10:31pm On Apr 08, 2015
A church deacon and expert on police affairs who knows incumbent Oba of Lagos, Alhaji Rilwan Akiolu, very well has come out to expose him as an Igbo hater. Oba Akiolu has been in the eye of the storm since he told visiting Igbo chiefs in his palace over the weekend that any Igbo who does not vote his preferred candidate during this Saturday’s governorship election in the state would die in the Lagos Lagoon within seven days.

Writing on his Facebook wall yesterday, Deacon Ben Okezie, a veteran journalist who made his name as an expert on police affairs, said:

“I can speak authoritatively about the antecedent of the AKIOLU Rilwan, the retired Assistant Inspector General of Police. Simply, he is an Igbo hater. When he was posted to the Police College, Ikeja, as the Commandant, he ensured that the Igbo Deputy Commissioner was posted out for another Yoruba officer. Whenever cases affecting Igbos are brought to him, he ensures they don’t get justice. He was more involved in land cases. He exhibited his total disdain for the Igbos when Donald Iroham, who was then the Commissioner of Police in Imo, was posted to Lagos Command. AKIOLU’s venom and rage resonated at the Force Headquarters. He told the IGP then, ‘You cannot post an IBO officer to Lagos while I AM the Oba.’

“That we allowed the sleeping dog to lie does not mean Igbos are stupid. The police, I suppose, is a federal institution. Today, he has exhibited it again. Igbos should enjoy full liberty in Lagos. I once interviewed the past Oba of Lagos in Eko Concord and he said any Igboman who lived in Lagos and pays his tax for ten years should be regarded as a Lagosian. I don’t think AKIOLU subscribes to such opinion.”

Posterity will judge GEJ fairly.

Providence brought you this far sir, Congrats for writing your name in gold.

Your best wishes for this country was never hidden as we saw in your achievements in almost all sectors, roads, bridges, railways, agriculture, automobile, alamajiri schools, new universities, fertilizer and ghost worker scam elimination, freedom of press, FOI, free and fair elections, power sector.....etc

Even until late, you kept Nigeria first and saved Nigeria from impending anarchy that could have trailed a tribunal or election rejection even when you could.

You were not as forceful as Nigerians wished because of our years of military rule. We lacked patience to see your policies come into tangible fruition. You were grossly misunderstood and propaganda from the opposition camp fuelled the government apathy of the impatient populace.

I will always maintain that you are Nigeria's best president. We were few months away from implementing the confab report that would have enthroned true federalism which would have set us on the path of recovery and greatness.

I am certain posterity will judge you fairly. Through all the insults, you never reacted. You gave all freedom like we've never seen before.

IF WE MUST PRACTICE DEMOCRACY, YOU ARE THE TEMPLATE.

I don't think you lost this election, you are just a victim of a sectional majority and Nigeria actually lost you instead.

I know we Nigerians are an impatient lot with unachievable high hopes for the incoming government. In few months time, after our hopes have been met with reality. ... then we shall sing your praises.

Whenever the history of this country will be written, your section will be in gold.

Go with your head up high, even you opponents would not have taken the step you took on this journey.

You remain my HERO.
God Bless Mr President.I wish Our politicians will learn to concede defeat in future elections for the sake of peace & unity of this country.

Politics › Airport Cleaner On N7,800 Monthly Salary Returns Missing N12 Million by KEVIND(op): 10:29am On Feb 16, 2015
A cleaner, Josephine Agwu, working with a concessionaire at Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, has returned to the security unit of the airport, N12 million she suspected was left behind by a passenger. Josephine is a cleaner on a monthly salary of N7,800.

The incident happened January 23, 2015, while Josephine was cleaning a toilet near the screening point of the departure area of the airport.

She told Newswatch Times that she saw a small handbag left behind by a passenger and acted on instruction given that any bag left unattended to at the airport terminal must be picked and deposited with aviation security department of the airport.

According to her, after asking other passengers if the bag belonged to anyone of them and they all responded to the contrary, she picked the bag and took it to the security unit, where it was opened and found to contain $27,000 and other currencies, including naira, which added up to N12 million.

She told Newswatch Times that a passenger on Emirates Airlines, simply identified as Samuel from Anambra State, later claimed the ownership of the bag and its contents from the aviation security after much screening, adding that the man just thanked her and went away with the money.

When asked if she regretted her action when she realised that she could have bettered her future with it, Josephine, who claimed she has a very rich Christian background, said: “If I have taken what doesn’t belong to me, God will punish me. I am contented with my N7,800 monthly salary. It was not my money. I believe when it pleases God, he will bless the work of my hands and he will make me rich.

“This is not the first time I am doing this. This is the third time in this airport. The first was in the departure area. It belonged to a Nigerian. The second was at the screening point, it belonged to a white man. Of all, only the white man rewarded me with $50, which I rejected until my colleagues prevailed on me to collect it.”

The Ordinary National Diploma (Accounting) holder also said she had worked with many airlines as a casual worker in Enugu, with a track record of honesty, without anyone of them offering her full employment, before she moved down to Lagos to seek greener pasture but however, got a job at the airport as a cleaner.

Confirming the discovery, Airport Manager, MMIA, Lagos, Nathaniel Auta, said: “It was true that a cleaner with one of the concessionaires discovered such a huge amount of money and returned it to security. It is a very good testimony for us all.”

Also confirming the development, Chief Security Officer (CSO) of the airport, Colonel Carl Onalo (retired), told Newswatch Times that the lady must be appreciated for her honesty, to encourage others.

Onalo said the management of the airport and possibly that of Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) would do everything possible to celebrate Josephine for her honesty at the airport, as he used the opportunity to call on passengers and other users of the airport to have the assurance that whatever they bring to the airport is safe.

It would be recalled that last year, while flagging off anti-corruption campaign among low level workers in Nigerian airports, Aviation Minister Osita Chidoka, in conjunction with ICPC, promised that anyone found to be of good conduct would be highly rewarded, while those caught contravening the anti- corruption regulations in the airports, would be made to face the full wrath of the law.

kosovo:
This is just one of the news Nigerians ought to have heard 3-4 years ago. However, because of how complex Nigeria is and sympathy to ethnic bigotry, I guess the president was slow to avoid rebellion from the North, which is still obviously visible.

Senerio1:

Had the president declared full scale war on these terrorist before Now. The Northern statesmen who have sympathy for these terrorist will start their madness, insisting a Minority leader is killing the Hausa(s).

We heard one of the clearless statements from BUHARI, where he wanted faceless terrorist to be given same treatment as the Niger-Delta militants. He concluded by saying "an attack on Boko Haram is an attack on the North"

When President Yar Adua wanted Amesty for the militants, it was Vice President Goodluck Jonathan they picked as the negotiator. The VP went into the creeks without his security men. They secured a deal which ended the crises.

Reversal1:

Buhari is picked as the negotiator for the faceless terrorist fighting for an Islamic state which is not justifiable like the what the militants fought for. (note the usage of militant and terrorist for Niger-Delta and Boko Haram respectively). Buhari accepts initially, then rejects the process because he sees that he can use the insurgency to gain sympathy votes which is what could have happened today. Buhari claims he can end insurgency in one month, but can only do that from Aso Rock. This does raise eyebrows. If he decides to sit and watch the throat of innocent Nigerians being slit by these terrorist, when he can do something but refuses, it sends a very strong message to those who can make use of their brain to think.

Why the sudden offensive by the Presidency?

Good question. If you read scenerio1, you'd realize a lot has changed. Chad and Cameroon decided to show total commitment to ending insurgency.. Then, there was a boost from the AU, which affirmed 7,800 troops for the same cause. Obviously, the Northern elements can't use Jonathan as the scapegoat when the bombardment of the region starts. It's no longer an internal issue, forces from the AU decision makes it a continental problem.

Is Jonathan Afraid to Lose?

If Jonathan was scared of loosing, he would have quickly accepted the suggestion of IBB at the security council meeting not to conduct elections in the troubled states (Buhari's stronghold). President Jonathan rejected the idea immediately it came, insisting elections must be carried out nation-wide. Things like this, you are probably reading about it for the first time because the media we have today, only search for bad things and these are further echoed by APC apologists.

President Jonathan would be returned elected, Nigeria hasn't got to that point where you can oust an incumbent president whose powers know no bound. It is not enough to perform media hype with a slogan. This isn't the United States, elections are not won online but by grass root politicking and on the day of the election.

Most of the APC agents would be rendered powerless on the day of election by the monetary power of the PDP. It's always going to happen.. Anyone deceiving the APC and her candidate is really doing a nice job.

Until we have a democratic system, where Police and Army chiefs are not nominated and appointed by the president. Until we have a system where the electoral chairman isn't nominated and appointed by the president.. We would keep enduring this wild goose chase.

Let me state here that I have no sympathy for any political party and/or their candidates.
Infact you have said it all.I do remind those noise makers that it'll be difficult to defeat an incubent president in Nigeria but instead what do one get is insult & name calling.

Politics › Nigerians Query N135m Donation By Buhari’s Wife by KEVIND(op):
A cross section of Nigerians have called on Aisha, the wife of the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), General Muhammadu Buhari (rtd.), to explain the source of the N135 million she donated to Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in parts of Adamawa State on Wednesday. They said that the donation of such a huge amount is bound to raise eyebrows in the light of Buhari’s persistent claims that he is not a rich man.

Reacting to the donation, Omobolanle Olusola, a politician resident in Lagos State, wondered where Mrs. Buhari got the money when a few months ago, her husband claimed that he had to borrow N20 million to enable him purchase the Expression of Interest form for the APC presidential primaries.

Olusola said: “Where did this woman get the money? As far as we know, Madam Buhari is not a business woman.

“If it is true the husband could not afford N20 million to buy the APC presidential form, how come she could boast of such an amount to donate to charity?”

Olusola said it is either Buhari had been lying to Nigerians about his wealth status or he is not a good family man, in which case he may lack the capacity to manage the whole country successfully.

Also speaking, a Lagos-based businesswoman, Alhaja Shekinat Sulaimon, said the donation may have exposed the lies in Buhari’s claims of modesty.

She said: “I am a woman and I have a husband. I do not think it is possible for my husband to go around borrowing money when I can afford more than what will solve his problems.

“It does not speak well of the family. Even if Buhari borrowed the money he used to buy his nomination form from his wife, he should not have claimed he borrowed it from a bank as he said. It means he is lying and that is not good for his reputation.”

Another Lagos resident, Malik Abdulmalik, also took a swipe at Buhari for claiming that he is poor when in the real sense he may be swimming in wealth.

Abdulmalik said: “Now I remember this same man claimed he had to call his personal banker to make ready a loan of N27 million for the purchase of nomination form for presidency from his party. But just this morning I am waking up to news that his wife has donated N135 million worth of drugs to Internally Displaced Persons in Nigeria.

“How could she have had this amount of cash and allowed her husband to borrow to run for presidency? Or is it that she knows he is a failure?”

News Express recalls that Hajiya Aishatu Buhari distributed drugs and other relief items worth N135 million to IDPs at Damare and St Theresa Catholic Church camps in Adamawa State.

Aisha Buhari, who was accompanied by five APC leaders’ wives, including former Plateau State Deputy Governor, Pauline Tallen; Judith Amaechi; Mairo Al-Makura; Toyin Saraki and former Women Affairs Minister, Hajiya Hajjo Sani, distributed drugs worth over N135 million to the displaced persons.

She had expressed deep sympathy for the IDPs, saying she was deeply touched by their plight, saying: “We cannot pretend not to see the situation you people are into.”

At the Damare NYSC Camp, which is the most populous camp in the state capital, Buhari’s wife regretted that thousands of families were displaced by Boko Haram insurgents, attributing it to “lack of good leadership in the country.”

She added that human lives should not be toyed with for political gains.

She said: “I am not here for politics nor for religion but because we’re really touched by the condition you found yourselves. We are here to share your grief.”

Mrs. Buhari urged Nigerians to embrace the opportunity of change coming to the nation as it is the only way out for the country to salvage itself from its current drift.

Politics › Buhari’s Bribe Tears Northern Pastors Apart by KEVIND(op): 8:49am On Feb 13, 2015
Actually, we were told that Gen. Buhari wanted to have an audience with us regarding his presidential aspiration. The idea was that it was going to be an interactive session. I believe this is a sponsored endorsement. Our patrons and leaders are too noble to bring us to this embarrassing situation this way.  There was no meeting or agreement that suggests that this organisation or all leaders of Christians in the North should come and endorse Gen. Buhari or any other presidential candidate…

The altar was desecrated yesterday as some clergymen from the North tricked their unsuspecting colleagues into a meeting in Abuja to endorse All Progressives Congress, APC presidential candidate, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari for the March 28 presidential election.
Signs that all was not well in the camp of the organisers started emerging at the venue of the meeting when some of the invited pastors complained that they were not told that the forum was called to endorse Buhari and his running mate, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo.
A group, which identified itself as Northern Christian Leaders Eagle-Eye Forum, spearheaded the meeting at the International Conference Centre, Abuja, where Buhari and Osinbajo were in attendance.
Some of the Christian leaders who openly protested the action of the patrons of the group, alleged that they were deceived into attending the meeting.
They alleged that the organisers told them that the meeting was put in place to enable the clergymen take up Buhari on some topical issues but lamented that it “turned out to be total declaration of support for Buhari.”
While some of the aggrieved pastors stormed out of the meeting, others stayed till the end.
They were however shocked when contrary to the organisers’ promise to give each participant either N50,000 or N100,000 (depending on the locations from whence they came), the funds released by a governor who bankrolled the meeting, was between N3,000 and N5,000. Some of the pastors said that the money given to them was not bribe but welfare package and insisted on collecting it.
It was learnt that the governor, whose identity was not disclosed, bankrolled the meeting with N500million.
In his address at the occasion with the theme: “Declaring Total Support for General Muhammadu Buhari,” the chairman of the Forum, Pastor Habu Aminchi, promised that his group would not only work for Buhari but would deliver 85 percent Christian votes in the North for the APC candidate.
However, some members of the group staged a walkout of the hall when Pastor Aminchi declared in the course of his speech that the Forum has endorsed Buhari for the presidential election.
The angry pastors said that they were neither involved in any meeting where such a decision was reached, nor were they informed about such a position to suggest endorsement of any presidential candidate or party in the forthcoming general elections.

Meeting initiated by Ango Abdullahi
Pastor Aminchi stated that the group used to work for the ruling People’s Democratic Party, PDP, but that “what we are passing through today as a country made us to change our mind.”
According to him, the idea to convene the meeting came to him after Chairman of Northern Elders’ Forum, NEF, Prof. Ango Abdullahi, called him on phone and invited him for a chat.
Pastor Aminchi said that after his meeting with Prof. Abdullahi, he became convinced about the credibility of Buhari’s candidature against all the propaganda, an indication that all the negative media reports about him were all lies.
He described those who do not like the personality of Buhari as “attackers of destiny” who do not want him to succeed in his presidential bid to salvage the country from corruption, insecurity and declining economy.
Aminchi said he had since realised that all the propaganda against Buhari were false and were designed to smear his public image and make him an enemy of Christians in order to divide the political parties and the country along religious lines.
According to Pastor Aminchi, voting for Buhari means voting for Prof. Osibanjo, who is also a pastor. Buhari, according to him, is capable of restoring the country’s lost glory if he wins and reintroducing discipline and result-oriented anti-corruption campaign in the country, just like he did when he served as head of state.

The meeting is a fraud
However, several members of the Christian body alleged that Gen. Buhari and his party, APC, are sponsoring division among Christian communities in the North.
In an interview with Nigerian Pilot, Pastor Bitrus Yerima, the national president of Gospel Advancement Leadership Initiative and a member the Northern Christian Leaders Eagle-eyes Forum, said that most of the pastors, including himself, who attended the “endorsement meeting” had no prior knowledge of what was to happen at the event.
He said: “Actually, we were told that Gen. Buhari wanted to have an audience with us regarding his presidential aspiration. The idea was that it was going to be an interactive session. I believe this is a sponsored endorsement. Our patrons and leaders are too noble to bring us to this embarrassing situation this way.
“There was no meeting or agreement that suggests that this organisation or all leaders of Christians in the North should come and endorse Gen. Buhari or any other presidential candidates,” he said.
According to him, “whoever came up with this idea, I believe, is speaking his own mind and not that of Northern Christian leaders. What you just witnessed is a fraud. This Forum has no right to take such a decision the way it has taken. Our members comprise of people belonging to different political parties and it is our belief that our members are free to vote for any candidate of their choice,” he said.
Another pastor who sought anonymity told our correspondent that the agenda was dead on arrival.
“The fact is that we were taken unawares by this so-called endorsement. Some of us have invested our integrity in our spiritual assignment that we cannot sell ourselves so cheaply. There are going to be a lot of counter reactions to this embarrassing development after this moment.”
Outside the lobby of the ICC, pastors were sharply divided as they discussed the development and its implications on their integrity and sub-groups in the northern region. A group was overheard expressing its displeasure that they could be invited to such a “shameful programme.”
One of them told newsmen when he was approached that the endorsement was planned. “I am an insider and I know everything that is happening here.”
The cleric stated that he had been in Abuja since the beginning of the week for an important event before a friend who was one of the organisers of the event asked him to wait behind to attend the meeting.
“It was supposed to be an interactive discussion with Gen. Buhari by the pastors to hear from him the grievances of the clerics from the northern part of the country but dramatically, it turned out as an endorsement meeting. Of course, the pastors will collect their welfare packages and go back knowing full well that this is fake,” he said.
Another Jos-based clergyman lamented that he had been dribbled into what he described as a big scam by politicians in the forum who are working for APC.
“Some of us were promised N100,000 each if we come here (Abuja). Later, they said the money had been reduced to figure of N50,000.”
However, what aggravated the anger of the clerics was the way they said they were shabbily treated. “What is so annoying now is that they eventually gave those of us who came from Jos N5,000, and then doled out N3,000 to those within Abuja axis. It is regrettable to have come here at all,” he said.
When Pastor Aminchi was later asked by newsmen to react to the grievances of some of his members, he said that “all the members on our list were sponsored.”
Asked to clarify the contention that the issue of endorsement of Buhari or any other presidential candidate was never discussed in any of their previous meetings and if it was, did the executive council of the Forum send the resolutions to all members, Pastor Aminchi emphatically stated that, “the issue was well discussed and attended.
“We held meetings in Zaria and Kaduna last week. Anyone who has a dissenting voice against what we have just done is definitely not our member,” he said.
In an attempt to give the meeting a wider spread, some of the pastors registered their churches in the states of the North where they are not represented. They also included the names of churches whose leaders were invited but did not attend the meeting.
Among the northern Christian leaders in at the meeting included Pastor Paul Great of Methodist Church, Jos; Bishop Lawrence Awanorwo, New Creation School of Divinity, Niger State; Bishop Daniel Oboni, Christ Life Evangelistic Church, Bauchi State (instead of Jos); Bishop Musa Gomson, Unlimited Mercy and Glory Church, Gombe State (instead of Jos); Apostle (Dr.) Abraham Babe, World Christian Mission, Taraba State (operates in Jos); Paul Zumta, Alheri Baptist Church, Sokoto State; Rev. Sam Adejoh, Life Changer Christian Centre, Yobe (instead of Jos); Rev. Daniel D. Gonzuk, Amazing Grace, Benue State (operates in Jos); Rev. Emmanuel Edesiri, Destiny Path Assembly Int. Nasarawa State (instead of Jos), Rev. (Dr.) Sunday, Divine Latter Times, Borno State (instead of Jos) and others.
Beside Osinbajo, Buhari was accompanied to the meeting by former Chief of Army Staff and Director of Security Committee of the APC Presidential Campaign Organisation, Gen. Abdulrahman Dambazau, Prof. Abdullahi and Gen. Paul Tarfa. Both Buhari and Osinbajo were presented copies of the Holy Bible at the meeting.

I’ll not promote one religion over another – Buhari
In his speech at the event, Buhari assured the Christian leaders that he would not promote one religion over another if elected president of Nigeria.
He said as a practicing Muslim, he never shared the views of any extremist group.
Buhari said: “I will not entertain, consider or promote the religious agenda of anyone. I will not condone any initiative that seeks to promote one religion over the other. Neither I, nor my party, or any member of my team has any desire or plan to Islamise or Christianise Nigeria or support anyone with such intention.
“Although I am a practicing Muslim, and I have been so all my life, I have never belonged to, nor shared the views of any extremist group. I am not even a cleric. I believe that religion is personal and private.
“Most of my bodyguards are Christians. If I have not Islamised these people who serve under me, how will I Islamise the likes of Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, Ogbonnaya Onu, Governor Rochas Okorocha,
Kayode Fayemi, Rotimi Amaechi or Prof. Yemi Osinbajo who is a Senior Advocate of Nigeria and a pastor?”
Buhari stressed that religion was never a factor with people he had worked with, saying what matters was that they were competent.
The APC candidate said Nigerians at all time should hold the unity, peace and progress of the country paramount and above all other considerations, especially politics.

What is less known is that the same Axelrod was hired by Nigeria’s opposition party, APC, to ensure victory for it’s Presidential candidate, Muhammadu Buhari, a man with a horrible history of Human Rights abuses to his name.

In the last year, Nigeria sought aid from the White House for many initiatives, including the fight against Boko Haram.

The Obama  administration refused to do anything but play lip service to Nigeria’s requests. However, it used public and private channels to internationally magnify every failure Nigeria’s government experienced.

In the last year, since the involvement of Axelrod’s firm, relations between the two nations have significantly deteriorated, with the US refusing to sell arms to Nigeria, a significant reduction in the purchase of Nigeria’s oil, and the cancellation of a military training agreement between Nigeria and the USA.

In turn, the Buhari led Nigerian opposition, used the US Govt’s position as validation for their claim that the Nigerian government was a failure.

In a February 9th article in the Washington Free Beacon (http:///guDlSH), the extent of Axelrod’s involvement in manipulating Nigeria’s affairs is revealed.

“A political consulting firm founded by Obama administration confidante David Axelrod has been far more involved in backing controversial Nigerian presidential candidate Gen. Muhammadu Buhari than previously disclosed…

Axelrod’s firm, the Chicago-based AKPD, has admitted to doing work on behalf of Buhari’s All Progressives Congress (APC) party in the past, but claimed to have ceased its ties in March 2014 after the Islamist terror group Boko Haram kidnapped hundreds of Nigerian schoolgirls.

However, emails sent between senior APC party members and advisers show that contrary to the firm’s claims, AKPD has quietly continued to perform political work on Buhari’s behalf as he fights to unseat current President Goodluck Jonathan.

In a series of messages between senior APC officials and advisers from September 2014 to late January 2015, AKPD polling and other work are repeatedly discussed.

“The meeting went well and the report well received. [Gov. Rotimi Amaechi] will meet with the AKPD team tomorrow to discuss the facilitation of the event but no dates fixed yet,”

APC member Olubunmi Adetunmbi wrote in one September 23 email to top Buhari adviser Kayode Fayemi.

AKPD’s work is again mentioned in a separate chain of emails sent between Buhari’s running mate, Yemi Osinbajo, and adviser Fayemi.

“I also think the AKPD surveys also clearly showed that the South West is the battle ground for this election,” Osinbajo writes in a discussion about boosting election turnouts for the APC.

A third email chain from Jan. 21 shows APC leader Nasir El-Rufai discussing an “October 2014 AKPD poll” that he hoped to disseminate to “the team.”

Other sources on the ground and familiar with the APC’s campaign say that the party has been trying to keep AKPD’s ongoing work quiet. It is rumored that AKPD employees are being housed in an APC compound located in Lagos, according to multiple sources.

“The sense is they’re being hidden currently in Lagos,” said another insider on the ground who would only speak on background. “They’re trying to keep a very low profile.”

AKPD’s close ties to the Obama administration also has given rise to criticism from those who see the White House as meddling in the elections.

“They have been particularly careful not to be seen at all because of the perception of the connection between Axelrod and the president and what that would convey,” said one of the sources quoted above.”

It is shameful that the United States has chosen to blatantly involve itself in Nigeria’s partisan politics, not based on any sort of foreign policy principle, but on a need to ensure that Axelrod’s company got to deliver on one of it’s most lucrative foreign contracts.

Christianity Etc › How Prophet TB Joshua Predicted Election Postponement by KEVIND(op): 3:59pm On Feb 08, 2015
Last February, Prophet T.B. Joshua prophesied concerning the Nigerian elections and how the outcome would determine the fate of Nigeria

Last year on Sunday, 9th February 2014, Prophet T.B. Joshua spoke prophetically about the upcoming Nigerian elections earlier scheduled to hold this February now postponed to March/April. In his words,” Pray for 2015.What I am seeing is heavy. I am seeing rain the cloud is darker. The fulfilment of 2015 – pray for it. Is that not time of your election? Democracy is sweet- pray so that your democracy will not be rubbished.

“It’s a sweet system- so that the system will not be rubbished, pray. Once again, that 2015, pray for fulfilment. I’m seeing a disagreement at the end of the day. And the disagreement can result to anything. Nigeria, these are the challenges we are going to face. Challenges of disagreement – no matter what, they will not agree. They will want to fight- we have to pray.”

Also on 9th November 2014, he spoke further saying, “Pray for your nation. If you are able to cross this your election, you cross it all. The election you are about to do now will determine Nigeria. Every other thing, no problem if you cross it. I’m talking to Nigeria. Don’t doubt what I am talking about. Just pray for your country, you Nigerians.”

Politics › France: Nigeria Is Investors' Unavoidable Destination by KEVIND(op): 12:20pm On Feb 08, 2015
Despite the various challenges bedeviling the country, France has described Nigeria as investors’ unavoidable destination.
French Minister of Finance and Economy, Mr. Michael Sapin, who disclosed this at the weekend,  said Nigeria would be a major beneficiary of a 240 billion Euro fund being earmarked by France for investment in Africa as the  European nation renews its investment drive on the continent.

Sapin stated that   investing in Africa without Nigeria was unthinkable, adding: “if you are not in Nigeria, you are not in Africa”.
“With a huge market and investment potentials, he noted that “no serious investor can ignore Nigeria, given the large population, highly skilled human capital and massive untapped natural resources.”
Sapin said already a contact group had been formed to ensure that  French investors took the centre-stage  of business activities in Nigeria and African countries.

“Perception about Africa is changing rapidly, especially after over a decade of steady impressive economic growth, even when most regions of the world were experiencing retarded growth or even recession.
“French investors have to know this, that French needs Africa. With a budding young population who are highly skilled and entrepreneurial, we must give impetus to this needed collaboration between Africa and France,” Sapin said.
French President, Francois Hollande, who unfolded France’s renewed investment plans in Africa at the ‘French-African Forum for a Shared Growth’ in Paris, France at the  weekend, described Africa as “our future.”

Hollande stated that Africa stands out as the world’s preferred investment destination, considering its impressive economic growth over the years and abundant unexploited human and natural resources.
His government, he said, was adopting a multi-pronged investment drive in Africa as well as infrastructure funding, noting that France was willing to woo a number of countries to invest in Africa.
The French leader noted that there was a convergence of cultural links, assuring that France would support Africa better in investment and funding of projects.

He said the 240 billion euro being earmarked by his government for Africa would help African countries drive their growth, admonishing French companies to be more aggressive in their investments in Africa.
“Africa is our future. It is a continent with great demographic evolution. It has recorded the highest growth in the last few years. It is also a continent full of untapped resources...,” Hollande said, noting that Africa boasts an army of  vibrant youth population unlike other continents

Besides the 240 billion euro earmarked for investment in Africa, he disclosed that an export bank was being put together at the end of March to help African countries access funds.
President Goodluck Jonathan was represented at the forum, attended by many African leaders, ministers and corporate chieftains, by the Coordinating Minister for the Economy and Minister of Finance, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala.

At a session on  “Financial Innovation for a Shared and Inclusive Growth,” Okonjo-Iweala  stated that existing resources fall short of what is required to surmount various challenges in Africa, citing, for instance, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) figures which says that $30 billion investment is required annually to eradicate poverty.
The minister said there was the need to come up with more  innovative financing options to meet various needs in Africa, adding that how to raise far more domestic resources was imperative.

She said more efforts should be channelled into what she described as "traditional sources" of  projects funding.
Okonjo-Iweala, who said Nigeria was adopting a Public Private Partnership (PPP) arrangement to finance two flagship projects—the Second Niger Bridge and the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, noted the problem with PPPs was that it takes up to seven years  to conclude such arrangements which is longer than the lifespan of an administration.

But she said with the involvement of the Nigeria Sovereign Investment Authority (NSIA), managers of the Sovereign Wealth Fund (SWF)  in the Second Niger Bridge, the Jonathan administration was working on leveraging on the available legal and technical expertise to see how to wrap up everything, including financing within three years.

The minister also said another innovative financing source was Diaspora remittances, which could be securitised as well as financial inclusion, which incorporates people from the lower rungs of the ladder.

SkyBlue1:
So the state has effectively blackmailed INEC using the army, to force a postponement of the elections? Well done Jonathan, you are turning into the dictator you have accused your opponent of being. Who remembers Aaondoaka, or Turai who it seemed once upon a time had the whole country in their hands? Where are they today? Our leaders fail to learn from history.
When he gave the opposition voice by encouraging a Level playing ground they call him a weakling.

I am from Warri and unlike you I am not a bigot but a rational Nigerian who love my country. I cant vote for corrupt leaders like GEJ when I didn't personally gain anything from his government for over 6 yrs. Anyway, I don't argue with bigots like you because the only thing you understand is supporting politicians based on tribe so that make you a big mumu.
YOU LIED.So becuse you were not given anything by Jonathan you now turn opposition. Every southerner & Middle Beltern knows the antics of the Hausa/Fulani man & the born to rule mentality. Jonathan might not be the best but definately the alternative cannot be a 83yrs old man that overthrew a democratic elected president in 1983. Bring a better alternative & we'll all support him regardless of political affiliation.

[[s]quote author=naijaking1 post=30499001]Just a brief summary:

1. Jega has been meeting secretly with northern leaders and avowed enemies of GEJ re-election
2. Jega has agreed to play, but he wants the leaders to help him recruit more electoral commissioners who may help with plan
3. Jega has 2 sets of plans, one(the most favorable) for the north, and the o the for the south
4. Under this plan, Jega received 150 lap tops per state, used to enroll minors and kindergarten children as eligible voters
5. Note, Jega wants PVCs handed over to the emirs, chiefs, and community leaders in the north, while every southerners has to pass through the eye of a needle
6. Of course we know that Jega gave more than 20k new polling units to the north, and 8k to the whole south
7. Jega awarded contract to PVC to unknown people outside federal guidelines.
