Kai oga u can lie. What is the meaning of excess crude payment that was made to the various tiers of Government is it not money accruing from sale of crude oil above the budget benchmark? Na wah for una.
So all Our revenue only comes from crude oil sales? What about the revenue that comes from the non-oil sector. What do you call it 'Mr Oga can talk true'.

You tell me, because to the best of my knowledge, the massive looting the Jonathan is presiding over is making it difficult to calculate the true value of our earnings. We can only consider what made it to the account books before those were stolen too.

Because it was stolen and was not accounted for. For your info, the budget is not to value of what we make. In fact budgets are projected.
So if you projected a budget of 3.9T and you earn above that amount budgeted for what will you call it? Budget supplus. And Nigeria has not had any Budget supplus for more than 3 decades. Our budget has been on deficit thats why we've been borrowing to augment the shortfall. And besides you can't spend any money that is not approve by the national assembley. And the National assembly is made up of PDP,APC & others.

Once again, PDP is sweeping this massive loot under the carpet. Dr. NOI has also suddenly become deaf and dumb.

And some will still ask Nigerians to reelect PDP to Continue Stealing from where they stopped. If about 30,000,000,000,000 (30 trillion) naira can be stolen in 4 yrs, now imaging what PDP have done to Nigeria in 16yrs.

Vote for Change. Vote APC - this money will go into infrastructures and empowering Nigerians to start their own businesses.
How much is the total revenue of Nigeria for 4yrs? How could an educated person believe this trash.the money that acrue to the federal govt in 8yrs is not up to that amount.

Christianity Etc › The Touching Story Of A Widow And Her Tithe... by KEVIND(op): 10:24pm On Feb 03, 2015
The case of Mrs. Caroline Orugude deserves a place in the spotlight. On that unforgettable Sunday, which will remain engraved on the hearts of the thousands of people that heard her, she gently made her way to the altar of The SCOAN. Delicately clenching a hand that was just recovering from a recent attack of stroke, the elderly woman had the air of one with important news.

She came with a simple gift and message that would speak volumes to men and women of God the world over. A retired teacher from Bayelsa in Southern Nigeria, this woman still had a thing or two to teach the “young ones”.

When she spoke, it was with carefully chosen words: “What brought me here is the urge to testify of the goodness of God in my life,” she began. Every ear zeroed in, as she narrated how she had retired from her job in June, 2012 and was forced to wait many months for her gratuity that was supposed to have been paid immediately. She said: “There was nothing much we could do except pray because the pension system is unreliable. So, I kept praying for almost two years about this.”

Mrs. Orugude requested prayers from many pastors for breakthrough, promising she would pay her tithe, but the pension remained withheld.

After she was introduced by a family member to Emmanuel TV, her mindset began to change. “I witnessed the goodness of the Lord and how the God of T.B. Joshua helps people to achieve their goals,” said Mrs. Orugude. A month before this landmark testimony, the elderly lady began to change her prayer points, aligning them with what she saw on Emmanuel TV.

When praying, she would place the documents for the gratuity on the screen of Emmanuel TV, thanking God for His mercy. Then the mighty hand of God touched her!

Within two weeks, she received a call from the treasury, asking her to go to the capital city, Abuja. “I said, ‘Wow! Is it for the gratuity?’ They said, ‘Yes’. Brethren, I knelt down. The joy in me that day, I cannot express it. I said, ‘thank You, Lord. I am going to Lagos’. I decided when I got the money, I would come here [to The SCOAN] to appreciate the Lord,” she said.

Then, while everyone including the millions of viewers across the world watched, the frail woman made a statement that stunned all: “I am here with the small sum of 500,000 naira, to give to the man of God and The SCOAN, as my tithe.” Mrs. Orugude’s declaration soon filled the Church-gone-silent with gasps of astonishment.

A mark had been made! At her age, no one would have expected her to part with such a huge amount of money, at a time when she needed it most. The action could not pass unnoticed by the Man of God, T.B. Joshua. His response to the touching gesture was equally surprising.

He said: “Yes, it is written in the Bible that we should pay tithe, but how can we collect tithe from widows and the aged who are supposed to be under our care? Remember, she has stopped working. She needs our care for the rest of her life. These are the women we should be feeding and taking care of. She is our mother; she is my mother too.”

The man of God then announced that instead of receiving Mrs. Orugude’s tithe, he would support her with an additional 500,000 naira, as a gift to take care of her.

Explaining why he took such a unique stance, T.B. Joshua spoke about the marks of a genuine servant of God: “When God calls a man or woman, what they will eat, what they will use and everything they need for their journey will be provided abundantly by God, because God wants honour and respect for His anointed ones,” he said.

“When a minister begins to depend on tithes, you know he is not a minister of God. It is written that offerings and tithes are very important to the house of God, but a minister of God who is called by God Almighty should not depend on offerings and tithes. Tithe is between you and your God.

“This is a message to ministers of God all over the world. When we collect tithes, we should know those whom we collect them from. Don’t force anybody – it is between them and God. Since the Bible says the door of blessings will open, leave them to God. It is not you that opens the door of blessing. If someone is not giving the right tithe, he will not receive anything from God, and if he is doing the right thing, he will receive from God. Let us worship the Giver of money, not money,” the Prophet said.

This example might cause you to smile but it is just part of the move Prophet T.B. Joshua has been making, along with Emmanuel TV Partners, to fulfil the divine obligation, which requires all Christians to help the elderly.

Every Sunday at The SCOAN, the elderly are allocated a section in the church where they enjoy the company and fellowship of their peers during the service. Additionally, free transportation in luxurious buses is provided to and from their homes, courtesy of T.B. Joshua and Emmanuel TV Partners. A welfare programme is also in operation, granting a monthly allowance, supplies and foodstuffs to each of the elderly in the church.

The Bible makes it very clear that it is not a crime to be old; it is the grace of God. Psalm 91:14-16 says: “Because he has set his love upon Me, therefore I will deliver him; I will set him on high, because he has known My name. He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him and honour him. With long life I will satisfy him, and show him My salvation.”

The elderly nurtured and reared us in love, care and warmth. This is the time to reciprocate their love, care and tenderness, now that they are too old to meet their needs unaided. Any community or nation that neglects their old ones, neglects God because it is the will of God to grow old (Isaiah 46:3-4).

Where are your elderly? Care for them and you shall reach old age.

In coming to the inevitable conclusion to seek your support and lend my humble service again to our fatherland, I considered it pertinent to hold consultations with all communities nationwide in order to build a mutually acceptable national consensus. Needless to add, no national consultation will be complete or meaningful without a meeting with the leadership of Ohanaeze Ndigbo.

“Since I cannot assume to know all the pressing issues facing Ndigbo or what Ndigbo expect of the new Nigeria we wish to build, I would greatly appreciate if you could kindly arrange a consultative meeting with Ohanaeze Ndigbo where we could discuss and try to determine how this could best be done.”

According to Guardian on Sunday, no sooner had the letter gotten to the Ohanaeze leaders than the subject matter divided them because while Chief Amaechi was said to have told the Ohanaeze executive led by Igariwey that he should be allowed to host Buhari and his delegation at his country home, the Ohanaeze leaders objected.

The Guardian said it was told by a source close to Amaechi that the elder statesman, having noticed the body language of the Ohanaeze leaders towards possible endorsement of President Goodluck Jonathan, contended that, as the most senior living political actor in Igbo land, he should be the one to receive the Buhari delegation.

“But,” according to the report, “the Igariwey executive insisted that since the letter was addressed to Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Buhari and his delegation should be received at the Ohanaeze Secretariat. The argument was partly the reason the issue of endorsement of President Jonathan was shelved until all the various contestants must have met with Ohanaeze.” The paper quoted the source as disclosing that the crisis was instigated to ensure that each faction could endorse a different presidential candidate.

Politics › How Buhari's Letter Sparked Ohanaeze Crisis by KEVIND(op): 12:37pm On Feb 01, 2015
A letter written by the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, General Muhammadu Buhari (rtd.), to the leadership of the Ohanaeze Ndigbo, the umbrella socio-cultural organisation of Ndigbo, is at the root of the current crisis threatening the organization, Guardian on Sunday has reported.

Not long ago, there was an attempt by yet-to-be identified persons to destroy the Ohanaeze Secretariat at No 7 Park Road, GRA, Enugu, even as a splinter group, led by the first republic Minister of Aviation, Chief Mbazulike Amaechi, continues to battle the Gary Enwo Igariwey-led executive over the duration of its tenure.

Guardian on Sunday said this morning that its investigations revealed that, contrary to the argument by the Mbazulike Amaechi that the tenure of the Ohanaeze executive is for a period of two years, the letter from Buhari seeking audience with leaders of Ndigbo actually sparked off the hostilities.

“It was gathered that after the South-East spokesman of the APC, Mr. Osita Okechukwu, brought the letter personally signed by General Buhari, an argument ensued between Amaechi and the Ohanaeze leaders over how and where the APC presidential candidate should be received,” Guardian on Sunday reported.

It said that in the letter titled “Request for Consultative Meeting” and dated November 7, 2014, Buhari had written: “A time comes in the history of nations, when the ligaments holding the nation are stretched to their very ends, creating uncertainty, despair and general despondency to pervade the land. It is without pleasure that I say our country is once at crossroads.

“This regrettably is where none of us wants our dear nation to be; and it is because of this unpleasant scenario that I am persuaded by many Nigerians to come forward again to seek for your votes, in order to halt Nigeria’s dangerous slide into anarchy and possible state failure.

Buhari will not shoot a single bullet against the insurgency, Why, because they'll cease to exist. How? Boko haram said their primary Objective is to introduce sharia they even appointed Buhari to negotiate between them & the federal govt which Buhari tacticaly avoided & declined.so if they have someone in power who believe in their cause 'SHARIA' do think they'll continue their bloodshed.NO! So,if Buhari Wins he should just plan on how to deal with the Niger delta militant cos their'll be no Boko haram to fight & he knows it.

Politics › Kuku To Northern Leaders:tell Your Sons, daughters To Stop Insurgency by KEVIND(op): 9:07am On Jan 31, 2015
abuja—Special Adviser to President Goodluck Jonathan on Niger Delta Affairs, Mr. Kingsley Kuku, has asked Northern leaders to tell their sons and daughters to stop the insurgency.
Kuku, who is the Chairman of the Presidential Amnesty Committee, said while receiving a letter of endorsement of President Goodluck Jonathan for the 2015 election from the leadership of the National Associations of Nigerians Students, NANS, in Abuja at the weekend that the key to ending Boko Haram was with the leaders of the north.
According to Kuku, “We believe strongly that the northern leaders can also call their sons and daughters who are currently detonating bombs and going on suicide missions to lay down their arms and tow the path of peace.
“This is the best approach to ending the Boko Haram insurgency, which we believe is not being carried out by ghosts but human beings from a section of the country and aided and abetted by fighters from Chad and other countries just to Islamise Nigeria.
“What the North needs to do to end Boko Haram is to rise up and put an end to insurgents. Northern leader should rise to the occasion and call Boko haram leaders to order as Jonathan did when he was Vice President. We are ready to share out Niger Delta experience with them if they seek our assistance in a bid to end the problem in the North,” Kuku said.
At the ceremony held in Abuja, the President of NANS, Comrade Tijani Usman Shehu, formally presented a letter from the students’ body endorsing President Jonathan for next month’s election, claiming that he had done enough to win their hearts.
“We want to continue in the path of genuine democratic process, building strong institutions that guarantees qualitative change in terms of addressing and meeting the basic socio-economic, political and cultural needs of our people,” Tijani said.

Politics › Re: The Grave Mistake Nigeria Cannot Afford on Buhari-Afenifere Leader. by KEVIND(op): 5:32pm On Jan 26, 2015
Why?
Because they have the mentality that they are born to rule. And that is why I think this romance with the South-west of picking a vice presidential candidate with him is just a mere gimmick. That is why I am insisting that all the recommendations of the confab should be implemented before the elections because, the inequality this country has been suffering all this while has been rectified with the recommendations of the confab. All the things that could cause us conflicts have been rectified. So, all our problems have been attacked from the root. And, that is why those who think it is not to their advantage don’t want it done.

Everybody believes that this present Constitution is bad and we then say let us all sit down and harmonize it,what is wrong in that one? We have done it now but yet you don’t want it to be implemented. And where is the antagonism coming from ? From the beneficiaries of the awkwardness of the constitution. And they still want the Yoruba to continue to go along with that? If some Yoruba follow them sheepishly, probably because they don’t know the background, that can not happen to someone like me.

And part of the inequality we are talking about is what has come out in the Buhari certificate matter. In the first republic, you set up a standard for everybody but when it comes to the northerner, you set another standard, that is exactly what happened in Buhari’s case.

Those of us who knew all these things from the beginning are not surprised by the new turn of events. You heard that his principal sent a letter to the military that he was capable and that he expected that he would pass his examinations. That was what was happening in those days in the North. Go and ask serious federal civil servants in this country, many of the permanent secretaries that were senior to them whether they were not superseded without being qualified. They cannot deny that. If you have read General Isama’s book, you will find it there where he said when they were about to be commissioned, the standard set for them was usually lower for the North. I am sure he never anticipated a situation like this.
And do we have corruption on selective basis? Look at the PTF which he superintended.

Even though Obasanjo was trying to cover him up, has he denied anything of such? He knows that if he does, the document is there for everyone to see. There was the issue of the N25b there. It is all in the report. So, how can I, as a NADECO man, come and support a dictator. All his antecedents are dictatorial and military like.
That was then.
Don’t give me that. When did he become a democrat? What has he done to show he is a democrat other than the fact he is saying he is being punished because he is now a democrat? When he first came as a military man, he was issuing retroactive actions to convict people for murder. We are all living witnesses to what he did with Decree 4, so, that is the type of man you want me to vote in a civilian regime? He says he is not a fundamentalist. It is just that people forget about records easily. Here was a man who campaigned in the North and said Muslims should vote for Muslims. Here was a man who said he was going to work for the operation of Sharia through out the country. He has not denied it neither has he apologized for all the anti-democratic things he has done. I won’t be deceived by bringing a first class technocrat as running mate.
That is where I was going that if you cannot support because of Buhari’s personality, how about that of his vice?
That is not possible because the running mate has no political experience. He is a first class technocrat, a distinguished lawyer and a nice gentleman, but if you are talking of politics, it is another matter entirely. They just brought him in. Tinubu brought him in as Attorney General, he was never in politics. He comes from Ikenne. Does he know the politics of Ikenne?
So, the South-West may be making a mistake.
Exactly, there is no doubt about that, that they will be making a big mistake and digging their graves. They may not listen but, I, Ayo Adebanjo, is telling them. I am 87 years old, I can die any moment, so that when ever it happened, they would be able to say that indeed, that man told us. Buhari is only deceiving them . Go and read what Wole Soyinka said about him in 2001. Has it changed? Go and read what El- Rufai said about him in 2002 that he is not electable. These are the same people polishing him. When I look at the whole scenario, I feel sorry for this country.

But, it is like Yoruba are irrevocably committed to following Buhari through Tinubu.
I don’t believe Yoruba are following Tinubu. There are so many factors that made him win election in those days. When it comes to these facts, it is now left for the Yoruba to decide. Those of us who suffered imprisonment during the NADECO days under Abacha , Tinubu was not around. To those of us who were really victims of dictatorship, you cannot send Buhari to us. I don’t know those who are now doing chop chop politics. From the beginning, we were never those who believe than military person should come and rule under a civilian regime and that was one of the reasons the Yoruba strongly voted against Obasanjo in 1999. It was the military that imposed Obasanjo on us, because it was Babangida and Abdulsalami that brought him and imposed him on us. They may have disagreement later because Obasanjo didn’t perform. It was Obasanjo that brought Yar’Adua, and indirectly brought Jonathan.

The old brigade in the Afenifere are the real progressives according to you because you are the authentic Awolowo’s follows. Is it not an irony now that instead of the South-west following people like you, they are following Tinubu and his ‘progressive’ party?
That is left for them. I have given all the facts. This is a democracy. With all we are saying, you and I know that we are suffering here in Lagos.
I am Fashola’s fan, I won’t say he has not done well but, those of us who created his predecessor, Tinubu, know that he could do better for Lagos, that is what we are saying. You may not appreciate what is happening now except you remember the Western Region where things moved well. A man ruled the Western Region for seven years without strike. He introduced free education when our income was barely five and a half million pounds including Edo and Delta at that time by share economic ingenuity. Is that what we are having now?

You have people who do job of N50m and say it is N250m and yet, the people would be saying he has done a good job. With all that is being done in Lagos, some of us have asked the question, how much does it cost? What is the revenue of Lagos, both the internally generated and the allocation? And yet, we are still owing that much debt. And yet we have to pay for tolls. I am not contesting election for anybody to vote for me, all I am saying is for posterity. Where they have done well, I say it, where they are wrong, I say it as well. When they talk of corruption in Jonathan government, I won’t say the government is clean, but those who are talking about corruption, how clean are they themselves? This is the question and yet these are the same people you journalists extol to high heavens. Are you saying there is no corruption in Lagos State?

The only job we have now is to reform this country and urge Jonathan to implement the recommendations of the confab so that we can all start on a clean slate. There may have been a lot of irregularities in the past and it is the irregularities that people are fighting. Everybody must have autonomy to rule itself and we all combine at the centre for what joins us together. If we had no federal system, Awolowo could not have done what he did in the Western Region.

So INEC should just allow Buhari to run the election and forget about the certificate?
I don’t know. Don’t put words into my mouth, that is left for INEC to prove if indeed he has the certificate; otherwise he is not qualified.
He is not qualified?
That is what the law says. It is not me. You journalists must be honest to this nation. You are not doing me any favour neither are you doing the country any good by trying to plaster what should not be plastered. What the law says is this: You must have a school certificate before you can qualify.

But the school has presented that now?
This is not the kind of certificate I have. I don’t think this one is tenable. If they can be fooled, I cannot. That is why I think Jega should come in. Though Jega doesn’t want to be seen as supporting anybody, from the law that he is expected to implement, Buhari has not satisfied the Constitution. Jega is only trying to shift responsibility by saying people opposed to Buhari’s qualification for the polls should go to court. I heard the APC saying Buhari has been contesting election for the past 12 years and nobody said anything about it, why now? And my answer in form of question is, if someone has been committing robbery and getting away with it, the day he is caught, you are now asking, why has not been caught all this while?
Are you saying it is as good as INEC disqualifying the man based on what is on ground?

Except you are saying the law should not be obeyed. The law is not made for fun. We should not be sentimental about this thing. That is why we say there are two standards, one for Ayo Adebanjo and one for Buhari. That is what is happening in the secondary schools. When they say examination cut-off mark is this but lower cut-off mark for those in the North, that is the kind of thing we have been going through since amalgamation and we have been shouting that let us educate the people of the North, but they don’t want to be educated as we are, yet they want to be qualified as we are.
You are 87 now and mummy is 85, what is the secret of your longevity?
It is about honesty. We are at peace with our minds. I won’t see black and call it white because of monetary gain. It is the grace of God. Although I try to eat well and exercise, all still amounts to the grace of God. - Vanguard.
Politics › Re: The Grave Mistake Nigeria Cannot Afford on Buhari-Afenifere Leader. by KEVIND(op): 5:28pm On Jan 26, 2015
Continue :
Pa Ayo Adebanjo, a leader of the Yoruba group, Afenifere, was a top member of the Action Group, led by the late Chief Obafemi Awolowo, in the first republic. He also belonged to the Awolowo – led Unity Party of Nigeria (UPN) in the second republic. At the inception of the latest democratic experiment in 1999, he joined the late Pa Abraham Adesanya and Chief Bola Ige, among others, to form the Alliance for Democracy which dominated the governments in the South-west. In this interview, he speaks on the state of the nation.
Afenifere, unlike before, is no longer active. What is happening?
Afenifere is still very active. In fact, very soon, we are going to meet in Akure, Ondo State.

There is no doubt that there is some kind of division among us caused by some rebels who didn’t want the right thing to be done, because we are strictly Awolowo’s disciples, undiluted.

We don’t modify Awo’s principles for our own interest, progressive is progressive; not progressive today and conservative tomorrow. Those who were never progressives, the moment they join you, they automatically become progressives.

How are you resolving the challenge of people trying to twist the principles of Awo?
We shall continue to say what is right for people to decipher. There are no two ways about it. What we are doing now is to ensure that you people follow the right path. The principle of Afenifere leaders, particularly myself, is to tell you the truth because lying and falsification of things have dominated the country.
But there are a lot of people now calling themselves progressives?
I will say all those ones are fake. All those the people in the then ACN that is now APC are fake progressives.
How
They are fake in the sense that they don’t pursue the principles of Awolowo. Take, for instance, the issue of federalism, you know we were part and parcel of National Democratic Coalition, NADECO. And during the NADECO days, we were the only ones shouting about the issue of Sovereign National Conference for the restructuring of the country because the federation was an awkward one. It was not balanced. And it was because the military choked us in 1966. The Constitution the colonialists gave us at independence was jettisoned after the 1966 coup. And that is why you saw arbitrary creation of states and local government areas because the people there were northerners.

All those with us during the NADECO time that insisted on National Conference are the same set of people saying now that the Goodlock Jonathan conference was a diversion. That was what Bola Tinubu said. I have said it before, let him challenge it. Sovereign National Conference was one of the manifestoes we used in electing him into office as governor of Lagos State.

Where do the Yoruba people stand in the February elections?
I think that would also be a matter of principle. The question of South-south is a matter of principle of Papa Awolowo that a minority would also have the right to aim for the highest position in the country. That was what I was trying to point out about the recent National Conference we had.

That conference has taken care of everything concerning Nigeria. Like the issue of power, it is no longer going to be the North-west, whenever it get to the North, it must rotate within all other regions in the North. The same thing for the South, it is no longer about South-west but all other regions in the South such that everybody now knows when each of the regions would be president, it is no longer the issue of we are born to rule. Why the South West are supporting Jonathan is because he is the only man who can implement the recommendations of the National Conference which was set up to bring equity to Yorubaland and to Nigeria.

He is the only man. And once he does that, all these things we are complaining about will be rectified. People talk about corruption but they never care to know the root of corruption. The thing is that the Federal Government has more money than all other tiers of government. Now, we have closed that gap in the confab. We have done it in such a way that the states now have more powers which may not be palatable to those ones in the North. For example, how did you have more local government areas than the South? How are the local governments in Kano and Jigawa more than those in Lagos? The military at that time just allocated states and local governments to themselves. There was really no criteria with which they arrived at those local governments. So, they now went further by allocating funds on the basis of the number of local governments. You will recall that Lagos State was denied local government funds even when the Supreme Court ruled that it should be paid. That is the kind of wholesome power the Federal Government has, and that is one of the reasons I feared if Buhari should govern under this Constitution.

North have the mentality that they are born to rule, picking a Yoruba VP is just a trick.
**the Imbalance in Nigeria is why Buhari entered the army with recommendation letter, not the minimum requirement.
**Buhari is a fundamentalist, that campaigned in the North and said Muslims should vote for Muslims.
**INEC should disqualify Buhari from the race

Politics › Yoruba People Won’t Vote Buhari Because We Don’t Trust Fulani People. - Opc's Ga by KEVIND(op):
Ganiyu Adams, factional leader of the Yoruba self-determination group, Oodua People’s Congress (OPC), says Muhammadu Buhari should not expect to win the south-west in the February 14 presidential election.

With Buhari, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) expected to win most votes in the north-east and north-west and President Goodluck Jonathan projected to enjoy support in the south-south, south-east and north-central, most analysts have predicted that south-west votes will decide the winner.
But Adams does not agree with the projections that Buhari will make a clean-up in the south-west based on the dominance of APC in the geo-political zone.

“Don’t think that south-west is APC states. South-west is a place that you cannot use the media to deceive. We are highly exposed and highly educated,” he told Nigeria Today newspaper in its latest edition due for the market on Monday, January 26.
“For you to say we should go one way, it is impossible. I don’t think that the south-west will vote for Buhari en mass. Don’t forget the pain caused by the June 12 annulment, it is still fresh in the mind of our people many died in the cause of June 12 struggle, many lost a lot of properties. I don’t think our people will trust a Hausa/Fulani man from the north this time around.”

Frederick Faseun, leader of another faction of OPC and founder of the Unity Party of Nigeria (UPN), has already thrown his weight behind Jonathan, with UPN adopting the president as its candidate. '
Adams, meanwhile, refused to blame Jonathan for Nigeria’s woes, maintaining that governors and lawmakers also have their role to play.
Below are excerpts from the interview. Nigeria Today:
Some people criticised the conduct of National Conference last year while others regard it as one of the major achievement of President Goodluck Jonathan. As a member of that conference, do you see the conference as a major achievement of this government?

Ganiyu Adams: In the actual fact, those who criticised soft-pedaled before we got to the middle of our deliberations and got convinced of what we were doing and started having a re-think. Majority of those who started the criticism came from the opposition parties because they believe if the conference succeeds; it would be a major achievement of President Goodluck Jonathan’s government but thank God at the end of the day, it was one of the best conferences Nigeria ever had in the country.

The conference had about 630 recommendations out of the 20 committees. There was no committee that does not have new recommendations, even the recommendation for restructuring of the country was exactly like that of the U.S. We borrowed this presidential system of government from America but when we started operating it, we twisted it to our own selfish interest. But the conference afforded us the opportunity to put thing right both in structure, security, intelligence, human rights, religion, environment, derivation formula and judiciary to the extent that it recommended the setting up of Supreme Court in every state of the federation, the conference also recommends that every state should have its own constitution as practised in America.

The conference also recommended for the establishment of state police, creation of local government based on available resources to its state, the local government before existed as a third tier of government where state governors starve them of funds by sitting or embezzling their allocations from the federation account. But under the new arrangement, as recommended by the conference, they exist under the state control where state government share money to the existing councils, if the governor like he can create or reduce the number of the existing local governments in the state. So by and large the conference was one of the best achievements of Jonathan since he became the president of this country in 2011.

The 2015 general election is few weeks away from now, many people are afraid that the present democracy could be truncated as a result of violence. Do you have that kind of fear?
I don’t have fear that the 2015 will degenerate into violence. In the beginning I have that kind of fear but when I started monitoring the campaigns of the two main presidential candidates, I realised that there should be little of such fears that we should allow to exist in our heart. I said this because the two main presidential candidates have held rallies in more than five states now and we have not heard of violence in the camp of the two major parties even when Buhari went to south-south, the base of the incumbent president, there was no crisis and Jonathan came to the south-west where we have about four APC sitting governors and there was no crisis. The way things have started and moving, my fear is being reduced with every passing day and we are growing through holding democratic elections.

I just watched a workshop held in Abuja where all the presidential candidates were called to sign undertaking that there would be no violence after the general elections. This is a new thing in our democracy, day by day we are learning on how to conduct a violence free election in the country. I don’t have fear that crisis or violence will erupt after the general elections in February.
In your assessment of the present administration, do you think Jonathan deserves a second term in office?

I will not agree with that. Those who are saying that Jonathan does not merit second term are those who are eager to take over power from him, if Jonathan can survive with the presence of Boko Haram and the attack from MEND at the beginning of the government, and in 2009, we witnessed an economic crunch which in grammar you can call it economic meltdown and for him to survive and at the end of the day our GDP is the first in Africa, definitely if we can have him in second term without much problem. He can do more than we expected, and I saw him as a detribalised president who does not have the mind of tyranny. He is the only president that people will abuse and he will not ask the security agents to arrest and try you. What members of the opposition did to Jonathan with the mind of maturity he absolved it, they cannot do 10 per cent of it to former President Olusegun Obasanjo when he was in power. His simplicity cannot be compared, his humility is something to write for others to emulate. So, he is a president that can build a strong foundation for Nigeria’s nascent democracy.

If we continue with the way President Obasanjo governed the country for eight years where we have democracy with a nucleus of a dictatorship our democracy would have suffered greatly, but if we have the opportunity to continue with the way President Jonathan has been running the affairs of the country, we will be able to stabilise and look for a reliable person to take over from him.

So, I believe he merit second term, no matter the way you abuse him, he would laugh and not even respond. Kinsley Kuku told me that when he responds to some of the president’s critics and members of the opposition group, the president had to caution him that those people are elder statesmen. So Jonathan is highly matured to the extent that the opposition will say that he is too soft to be president of the country, and if he changes his character, they will call him a dictator. I believe he is a president that believes in a peaceful society.
Do you think Jonathan stands a better chance of getting support in the south-west?

Don’t think that south-west is APC states. South-west is a place that you cannot use the media to deceive. We are highly exposed and highly educated. For you to say we should go one way, it is impossible, I don’t think that the south-west will vote for Buhari en masse. Don’t forget the pain caused by the June 12 annulment, it is still fresh in the mind of our people many died in the cause of June 12 struggle, many lost a lot of properties. I don’t think our people will trust a Hausa/Fulani man from the north this time around.
What is your assessment of our elected politicians in terms of delivering dividends of democracy?

People are blaming Jonathan for hardship in the country, they cannot blame state governors and law makers in the country who are being given constituency allowances but everybody is blaming Mr. President when I talk about politicians I speak without exception. Many governors and local government chairmen could not give account of what they collect every month from the allocation account.
Before the current fall in the prices of crude oil, some were collecting about N6 -7 billion every month and all they do is to embark on elitist projects that have no direct impact on the lives of common people only to come and accuse Mr. President that he is not performing.

One thing I respect Jonathan for is despite pressures from the ruling PDP, he refused to influence the result of elections as we have witnessed from the result of Anambra, Edo, Ekiti, Ondo and Osun states governorship elections. We were surprised when a large number of security agents were sent to Ekiti and Osun states during the last elections, it was later we got to know that some members of the party gave him a wrong assessment of the situation that there will be crisis during the elections.

If you like, sleep on the same bed with your pastor, it doesn't make you just nor holy. I will never vote GEJ cos he is corrupt and a bad leader. Dumb ass religious fanatic. If Buhari is going around praying in different mosques, then fools like you would rise up to cast the stone of Islamic fundamentalism on him. Silly punk..
Your trade is insult, insult and insult. So Buhari has been praying in one Mosque since his campaign began. You don't know anything about my JESUS so park well.
